[00:00:00] Speaker A: I swear, Julio, this keeps getting weirder by the minute. Good evening and welcome to the Malibuz. This is regarding Spawn, the world's best Spawn podcast. I'm your co host, John Fisher. [00:00:44] Speaker B: And I am your co host, David Williams. And Johnny. I'm afraid I've caught a case of the giggles. [00:00:50] Speaker A: Oh, yeah? [00:00:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:52] Speaker A: What are you giggling about? [00:00:54] Speaker B: I'm giggling about having a good time, hanging out with my pal Johnny, talking about some good shit. [00:01:00] Speaker A: That's what we do here. [00:01:01] Speaker B: Yeah. It just tickles me in the right spot and I can't help myself, Johnny. I'm enjoying myself. Johnny. I can't. [00:01:07] Speaker A: Hey, that's why we're here, right? [00:01:09] Speaker B: You can't not feel good when you're talking about the world's foremost, previously hell powered being. Yes, Mr. Albert Simmons and his COD Simmons collaborators. [00:01:22] Speaker A: We get back to Albert Simmons on this issue or on this episode of our podcast because I feel like we've spent a long time away from him. Even last week was a mainline Spawn, but he was barely in it. [00:01:32] Speaker B: He was in one panel. The last page he said like six words. Yeah. [00:01:37] Speaker A: So this one, we get an Al Simmons mission here because. Yep. [00:01:42] Speaker B: We get an old friend. And old friends come back to visit. [00:01:45] Speaker A: Indeed. [00:01:46] Speaker B: We dropped by for a spot of tea. [00:01:47] Speaker A: Can you imagine Cygor drinking a little tiny teacup? [00:01:52] Speaker B: I think any teacup would look tiny tiny to him, so. [00:01:55] Speaker A: Right. [00:01:56] Speaker B: But you get like a little dollhouse one. [00:02:00] Speaker A: We also have our friends Avi and Linda. [00:02:04] Speaker B: And wya. Yeah, WYA shows up. [00:02:08] Speaker A: That's because this week we are regarding Spawn. [00:02:11] Speaker B: Yes. [00:02:12] Speaker A: And each week we bring you two issues from Spawn's universe. Except when we don't. [00:02:16] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:02:17] Speaker A: And this week is no different. We have two issues for you of Modern Spawn. And that is Gunslinger 34, all the way back from the far off land of August 2024. And Kingspawn 37, also from August 2024, way back when. [00:02:35] Speaker B: As we say, way back home. Back in the days. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Back in the dog days of summer in August. [00:02:44] Speaker B: The dog. The dog days called the Dog days because the constellation Sirius is much more prevalent during that time of year. So we are under the dog constellation. So that's. [00:02:55] Speaker A: Is that true? [00:02:57] Speaker B: That's what I've heard. [00:02:58] Speaker A: But I thought it was because dogs were lazy. [00:03:02] Speaker B: Conflicting. I haven't looked into it fully. [00:03:05] Speaker A: Okay. [00:03:06] Speaker B: So I might be wrong again. If you know how the dog days of summer got its name. Is Johnny Wright. Am I right? Are neither of this right? Email [email protected] Please let us know what. [00:03:17] Speaker A: Is the origin of the dog days of summer. [00:03:20] Speaker B: But I don't know the dog days while they're happening, Johnny. I only know when they're over because then everybody and their grandmother's dog starts playing that Florence in the Machine song. It's a good song, but I only ever hear it the once a year. [00:03:34] Speaker A: You gotta run fast for your mother, fast for your father. Yeah, that one. [00:03:38] Speaker B: Yes, that one, Absolutely. [00:03:40] Speaker A: That's a good song. But you gotta run fast to pick up these issues of Spawn. [00:03:46] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Gotta run faster than Javi's pet carrying old Linda Dawia. [00:03:53] Speaker A: And we got as. We gotta do as we gotta. We gotta cover the covers. [00:03:57] Speaker B: Yes, we do. [00:03:58] Speaker A: And today we're starting with Gunslinger 34. [00:04:02] Speaker B: Yes, we are. [00:04:03] Speaker A: So this is the first course before we get to the appearance of Cygor. [00:04:08] Speaker B: We've got as. As they say, Johnny, we've got to shoot first and ask questions later. [00:04:14] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:04:16] Speaker B: I love a thematic joke. Yeah, we got. We got to cover these colors. Covers. Cover these covers, Johnny. [00:04:22] Speaker A: There's many colors on the covers. [00:04:23] Speaker B: There are many covers. There's. There's a limited palette on the COVID that I chose, so. But there are still many colors. [00:04:30] Speaker A: Which cover did you choose, David? [00:04:32] Speaker B: I chose the B cover by Mirko Kolek, and it is a gunslinger standing in the. In the wind of some dusty steps. And there's a. That's steps. T. P.P.E. not just P. Is that what those mound formations, the graphical, the geographical. Yes, I do believe they are. If I am wrong, email [email protected] and. [00:04:59] Speaker A: The geologists out there. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Yeah, but it's Javi overlooking what was obviously, like, a old campsite, and there's bones everywhere and, like, a little skull on this little fence post. Just very Western. [00:05:12] Speaker A: Yeah, very Western. I like that one. Yeah, I got the A cover by Von Randall. It's just a nice. [00:05:21] Speaker B: That's just a nice hobby. [00:05:22] Speaker A: It's just a nice hobby. I wish you could see the behind. [00:05:24] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. They. They need to start doing from the right angle, Johnny. [00:05:29] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got a sniper rifle and a pistol. He's, like, in a graveyard. [00:05:35] Speaker B: Yeah, he is. Yeah. And there's some crazy. Crazy, like, green light coming from around his foot area. [00:05:43] Speaker A: So something's going on. [00:05:45] Speaker B: Something. Something's happening there. Either he killed something that's exploding with necroplasm, or he, like, stepped out of a portal, or. [00:05:52] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got a nice belt buckle. Yeah, it's pretty. Pretty classic. I mean, he's Just classic Gunslinger. [00:05:57] Speaker B: There's a lot of intricate detail on that holster. [00:06:01] Speaker A: Oh, there really is, man. [00:06:02] Speaker B: It's a good cover. It's a good cover. Von Randall. Johnny, did you know that Von Randall can do a nice cover of a comic book? [00:06:09] Speaker A: You know, I've discovered. [00:06:09] Speaker B: You'd never believe it. [00:06:12] Speaker A: And we popped this baby open. We got the credits. [00:06:14] Speaker B: Yes, we do. [00:06:15] Speaker A: Script plot by Todd McFarlane, art by Carlo Barberi. Colors by Ivan Nunes. Letters by the Tom Father himself, Tom Orchikowski. Oh, yeah, we covered the covers. Creative Director is Todd McFarlane and editor in chief is Thomas Keeley, who liked our Gunslinger Ass Talk on Instagram. [00:06:39] Speaker B: That's the name of our new shock jock show, Johnny Gunslinger Ass Talk. [00:06:43] Speaker A: Gunslinger Ass Talk. That's the new segment. We talk about gunslinger's ass. We just need to ask Ryan to write a theme. [00:06:49] Speaker B: Carte blanche, Lonnie. Carte blanche. [00:06:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Previously in Gunslinger's Ass. Or just Gunslinger. Sorry, I got his ass on my brain. Previously in Gunslinger. As gunslinger seeks to flee from the police, the roof of his motel caves in, trapping him in the wreckage. [00:07:10] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, that happened. He got pinned by Chekhov's air conditioner unit. [00:07:17] Speaker A: Indeed he did. It fell down and boom, Pinned him. [00:07:20] Speaker B: He fall down, go boom. [00:07:22] Speaker A: He fall down, go boom. [00:07:24] Speaker B: So we start with Javi laying on his back in this rubble with uncharacteristically of Javi. He's got guns pointed at him, Johnny. [00:07:33] Speaker A: Yeah, that never happens. [00:07:35] Speaker B: Never. No. He's so mild mannered, nobody ever lift a finger against him. [00:07:39] Speaker A: And his mask is all fucked up. Like his tufts of his hair are coming out the top of it. [00:07:42] Speaker B: Yeah, you can see his cheek. You can see bits of his neck. They're like, he goddamn moves. Put a bullet in his head, Johnny. Months ago, that wouldn't have been a problem, but it would definitely, definitely kill him now. [00:07:53] Speaker A: So that would kill him now. He doesn't have his powers. And then it pulls back a bit and it's just like all the cops. SWAT team. [00:07:59] Speaker B: Like, more gun. More guns than actual people shown holding the guns. So they just like. They're not. They're not gonna. They're not gonna fuck around with Javi, Johnny. They're like, this guy's dangerous. [00:08:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:10] Speaker B: As we. Is it this page or is it the next page where they talk? They obviously know from the videotape what he's capable of. So they are very wary of this guy, even though they're like, he's down, but he ain't out. Then we learned that the medics Are there. And the leader of the SWAT team's like, get our people fixed first. This fucker can wait a minute. I don't care if the psycho bleeds out. [00:08:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:41] Speaker B: And then they're like, I want to run photos on him so I can ID him, get his mask off. [00:08:48] Speaker A: Government, national guard. Which is pretty crazy. [00:08:51] Speaker B: I like that. He literally, right before the roof caved in, he put his mask on. And now immediately talking later, they're like, we gotta get that mask off of him. [00:09:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:07] Speaker B: Oh, poor hobbies, man. [00:09:09] Speaker A: I guess no cops were killed in the making of this comic, but he sent six to the icu. [00:09:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Dang. I mean, I was thinking about that when I was reading this again last night. Johnny and Javi would have been trained to be just enough of a sharpshooter that if you hit them, you hit them to die, whether immediately or eventually. And so probably a lot of these men that he hit, that would have been him killing them because they didn't have ICUs in gunsimania days. So. [00:09:39] Speaker A: Yeah, so that's true. [00:09:41] Speaker B: It's not like Javi was pulling any punches. That's just his style of shooting. [00:09:45] Speaker A: And they bring out the hotel owner who gives up the ghost and says, oh, yeah, he was really nice. And that girl he was with. [00:09:53] Speaker B: Yeah, he was with the lady, Johnny. He's not that old. Doesn't give up the ghost mean die? [00:09:59] Speaker A: I think it just means, like, giving up. I don't know. [00:10:01] Speaker B: Well, I mean, tell us who's right, regardless. Funfilemail.com I just think of the Oingo. [00:10:06] Speaker A: Boingo song, Flesh and Blood. I'm not gonna give up ghost. No, I'm not gonna give it up. [00:10:12] Speaker B: Cause I have a strength to laugh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because, yeah. When you give up your ghost, Jonna, you free your ghost from your. Your body, so your spirit is freed, so your body is dead. [00:10:24] Speaker A: I just see. It's like giving up on a dream or something. I don't know. I mean, it could be both. [00:10:28] Speaker B: It could be both. [00:10:29] Speaker A: One could be don't give up the ghost. Like, if someone says, don't give up the ghost, it's like, don't give up the. Don't give up the fight. [00:10:35] Speaker B: Hold up. Hold. Hold on to that germ of whatever it is. [00:10:40] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:10:42] Speaker B: Very poetic. [00:10:43] Speaker A: He gives up. He gives up something. [00:10:45] Speaker B: He gives up Linda. Gives up. [00:10:47] Speaker A: He gives up Linda. And so then we get to the pundits who are reporting for the one time only, reporting on what's actually going on in the comic. Yeah, just Random news. [00:10:56] Speaker B: Yeah. And it's made national news because these are all national news outlets here, Johnny. [00:11:00] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, Brock the Shock's talking about him. [00:11:02] Speaker B: Come on, dude, Connie Chung lady's giving us the no nonsense CRN lady. Yeah, the info news guy is giving us. He's pulling a little bit of the speculation. Speculation around it because he starts talking about, like he goes into a little bit more lurid detail about Mr. Calhoun. And particularly gross. A little more gross than the Sierra lady does. And then more gross yet. Johnny, Brock the Shock literally has crime scene photos. [00:11:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. [00:11:40] Speaker B: That he's displaying. Oh, boy. Although I guess the CRN lady literally does have the video of Javi shooting Calhoun's house. Dang. What won't they show on the news these days, Johnny? [00:11:56] Speaker A: I don't know. Well, luckily, I won't have to watch the news this week at all. [00:11:59] Speaker B: Oh, definitely will not be doing that. [00:12:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I'll be watching it. [00:12:06] Speaker B: It's gonna be. It's gonna be unavoidable. So I'm gonna sit over here and I'm gonna be fucking sweating bullets the whole time like I do every. Like I do every four years. [00:12:15] Speaker A: Yep, that's how it goes. [00:12:17] Speaker B: It's nerve wracking. But speaking of wrecked nerves, none of these first responders know what to do with Javi. They're just like, I guess, I guess, I guess we'll do this. We've never had something like this before. Oxygen. They give him some oxygen while he's on his way to the error. They get into the er. They're just doing, you know, standard. Get him this and this and this and this. [00:12:39] Speaker A: And then Pop calls him a crazy. [00:12:42] Speaker B: Yeah. They start going through his personal effects and they get his jacket. There's. I love the never ending pile of guns. [00:12:51] Speaker A: I love the different sound effects too. Th. Badink. He just piles up like. Yeah, like five guns and like three knives. [00:13:04] Speaker B: Yeah, just a big old pile of bullets. Hilarious. It's so good. Then we cut to 23 miles away. [00:13:11] Speaker A: Where we see exact distance. Todd father signature. [00:13:15] Speaker B: Yeah, with some burning horse hooves. [00:13:18] Speaker A: Burning hearse. [00:13:19] Speaker B: Burning hearse. We're burning hearse. [00:13:21] Speaker A: Burning hearse hooves. It makes you think the burning cow is the beginning of Mars attacks. [00:13:28] Speaker B: Oh, man. Poor cows. I always felt. I always felt bad for those cows, Johnny. [00:13:34] Speaker A: Yeah, they didn't just. [00:13:36] Speaker B: They were just. They were just hanging out doing nothing. They didn't. They didn't deserve the ack ack that they got. [00:13:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:43] Speaker B: And then we see Linda. Linda's just like holding on for dear life. She's basically just kind of like, passed out on the back of the back of this horse here, you know, Wyatt's like, quick, we gotta get her inside. We gotta get her inside. Ya's helper. We haven't been introduced to ya's helper yet, have we? I don't think so. [00:14:00] Speaker A: He was, like, in the background and talking, like, in a few issues ago. [00:14:03] Speaker B: But, like, no introduction, no name. [00:14:06] Speaker A: No. [00:14:07] Speaker B: So wya's assistant, you know, notices, recognizes Linda as, you know, the lady who was there before. And why is like, if she's here without Javi, even though she's been here without Javi before, that she's here now in this condition with his little dinosaur pet turned into the flaming horse. Something's bad. [00:14:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:28] Speaker B: Linda wakes up, and Wyeth trying to, you know, see what happened. And Linda really can't remember a lot. She's like, I just remember flames. You know, I was talking about how much of a dipshit he was, and then some cops showed up, and then there was shooting, and then everything was. Everything was engulfed in flames. And now I'm here. [00:14:48] Speaker A: Give her some water. [00:14:49] Speaker B: And Waya's like, I don't know if you've noticed, but Javi doesn't like to really tell the truth. Like. Like, he doesn't like to lie, but he doesn't like to be forthcoming with anything. It's like walking to a wall. And so. So then wya's like, let me. Let me enlighten you. And he starts to do the clouded eye of a psychic connection. [00:15:10] Speaker A: Yes. And there's some kind of something. I think there's something more than water in that cup. [00:15:14] Speaker B: Yeah, probably. I was. I would assume so. To help the. To help the connection. Jeremy. [00:15:20] Speaker A: Yes. [00:15:21] Speaker B: And then we cut back to the hospital where the chief of police. Is that who that is, Is talking about, you know, the. That they have the. The madman who killed Dylan Calhoun in his own house, in custody. Then they're gonna. You know, they got him. You know, ladies and gentlemen, we got him. [00:15:42] Speaker A: Hey, mission accomplished. [00:15:43] Speaker B: Yeah, mission accomplished. And then we cut to inside, and it's just some officers talking to each other, and we get open and quote, you know, gunslingers. Gunslingers. Guns, they look brand new, but, like, literally no information on this particular model from this company existing anymore exists. [00:16:07] Speaker A: I swear, Julio, this keeps getting weirder by the minute. Yeah. This guy's like, look at this pistol. [00:16:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:12] Speaker A: Who's this guy working on? Antiques Roadshow? [00:16:14] Speaker B: Yeah, probably. What else? [00:16:17] Speaker A: Maybe he's just a gun Nerd. He might just be a gun nerd. [00:16:19] Speaker B: He looks like a man who would be called into a regional Antiques Roadshow as a professional. He could be like a. Like an expert. [00:16:28] Speaker A: And we cut back the hobby in the. I almost said hotel room, just like we did the other time. Hospitals are sad hotels, as we discovered in another episode. [00:16:37] Speaker B: Yes, indeed. And Javi just like, wakes up, like, all of a sudden, just like, sir, sir, go back to sleep, sir. Relax. Lay down. [00:16:50] Speaker A: They're trying to subdue him, but they can't get him down. They give him a max, max dose of Valium, maybe. [00:16:57] Speaker B: That sounds like a good Friday night, if you know what I'm talking about. [00:16:59] Speaker A: That sounds like, hey, we're going to get relaxed. [00:17:02] Speaker B: Man, I would love to get a Valium on a Friday night that keeps me asleep until halfway through Sunday. [00:17:07] Speaker A: Yeah, I'd take that. [00:17:09] Speaker B: Be real good. And then the doctor's like, okay, that'll keep. That should keep him down for a little bit. Let's get into her. Let's get into a room. We gotta get him out of this emergency unit here. And they're like, put him in an assless gown. We gotta see that butt, boys. [00:17:24] Speaker A: That's what they're after. [00:17:25] Speaker B: So I love these little panels of. We see somebody removing a boot, then we see just the cops hanging out outside the door doing some security. And then the nurse just hardly opened the door being like, get the fucking doctor right goddamn now. [00:17:39] Speaker A: Get in here. [00:17:42] Speaker B: And then we get most of a two page spread here of Javi and his undies on the bed. Just severely fucked up. We have seen. [00:17:52] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got like, old west underwear, too. [00:17:54] Speaker B: Yeah, we have seen a lot of Javi's fucked up body. But I think this is the first time we've seen all just sort of like laid out in front of us. [00:18:04] Speaker A: Yeah, it's pretty bad. Pretty gnarly. [00:18:05] Speaker B: Yeah. He's been through some shit, Johnny. [00:18:07] Speaker A: Indeed. But he's still got a pretty face. [00:18:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Like his skin is coming off the muscles on his legs. Jesus. [00:18:13] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:15] Speaker B: Javi has. He's looked better. I like how he's got the one little patch. Like of all of the things that he needed. Patch. There's just like the one little. The bandage that he put on. Hilarious. [00:18:33] Speaker A: Where's the bandage? [00:18:34] Speaker B: It's on his right shoulder. [00:18:35] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah. [00:18:38] Speaker B: But everything else is just. [00:18:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:41] Speaker B: Hilarious. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Oh, Javi. [00:18:43] Speaker B: Yeah. The doctor. [00:18:44] Speaker A: So mutilated. [00:18:45] Speaker B: The doctors are like, what the hell? That's. Your bodies aren't able to handle that. This guy's gotta be insane. And then when they start questioning his sanity, we, like, go into his coma brain and he's remembering a past adventure. [00:19:02] Speaker A: Yes. [00:19:02] Speaker B: It's Javi out on the steps. S T, E, P P, E, S. [00:19:06] Speaker A: Not S T, P. Yes, it is. Oh, my God. The COVID It's like the COVID that you have. [00:19:10] Speaker B: Yeah. And he's. He's tracking. He's tracking some footprints because that's, you know, that's what you do in the old Western times. Fresh tracks tell you everything you need. [00:19:18] Speaker A: Along with other clues. He finds an arrow in a tree. [00:19:20] Speaker B: Yeah. On the ground he finds some spent brass from a revolver, maybe a rifle. He sees. He sneaks around through some trees, and then he sees out yonder. Campfire. [00:19:33] Speaker A: Campfire. [00:19:34] Speaker B: And he's. And then we zoom in on the campfire, and it's just some cowpoke. Not cowpokes. These are bad guys. So outlaws. [00:19:41] Speaker A: These are bandits. Outlaws. [00:19:42] Speaker B: Some outlaws just rooting, tooting around the fire. You know, they got the scientifically most number of parts to be at max hilariousness. According to old Mel Brooks talking, you know, about the gig they just pulled. The gig. I guess it would be a gig. The gig economy. [00:20:03] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, my God. [00:20:05] Speaker B: And so they just robbed some people. Real original. [00:20:09] Speaker A: There's more than that, but we don't know that yet. [00:20:11] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. You know, one of them's like, hey, man, I'm just gonna. I'm. I'm bushed. I'm just gonna hit the hay. And they're like, okay, that sounds good. And then, ah, their horses start making noise. They've been hyahed out of there. [00:20:24] Speaker A: Yep. They're running away. [00:20:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Somebody. Somebody set them loose. They're like, someone must be out there. And then Javi comes all in shadow, and he says, there is. And it's Javi having this in, like, audiovisual form. Like maybe a short film. That would be a great little. Yeah, be wonderful. We need. [00:20:46] Speaker A: He tracked these men because they basically, he had ranchered a family that strung up the husband, two girls, and the pregnant wife, and they took advantage of the women before they did it. [00:20:59] Speaker B: Yes, Johnny, Funny story. While I was rereading this at about the third or fourth page, Pluto TV started playing the Patrick Wilson classic Insidious. [00:21:11] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:21:12] Speaker B: And then right around the time Kid falls off the ladder, they say, insidious. [00:21:19] Speaker A: How insidious? That demon's coming. That demon from the Insidious is coming after you. [00:21:22] Speaker B: Wherever he is, that little child is haunted. He's coming to get you. Not to make Light of the terrible deed that has occurred here. But yeah, I saw. [00:21:33] Speaker A: Those are despicable. [00:21:34] Speaker B: A good little. A good little collapsing of the real world into this comic book. [00:21:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Now these guys are pretty despicable. And Javi's gonna wipe them out. [00:21:43] Speaker B: Mm. Yes. And he. [00:21:45] Speaker A: He does. [00:21:46] Speaker B: That's what he does. And then one of them reveals himself. He says, knew you'd become in Devilman. Thanks for walking straight into my trap, Devilman. Oh, sorry, sorry. Devilman. And he turns out to be an angel. Because he's got expansive wingspan, Johnny. [00:22:03] Speaker A: He is. He's an angel. [00:22:05] Speaker B: And then we get necroplasm meter than the issue. It is very low. [00:22:10] Speaker A: It's a one. [00:22:12] Speaker B: It is a one. [00:22:13] Speaker A: And we get a spawning grounds, which is a big letter from Brian S. And he's basically asking. He said that he's starting to get back into spawn in February 2022 because he had a torn Achilles. Torn Achilles, yeah. Ouch. Sorry about that, Brian. [00:22:30] Speaker B: That's a lot. That's a lot of sitting down. [00:22:32] Speaker A: But it got him into Spawn. [00:22:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:34] Speaker A: And he just had a question. Mainly it's like after the dead zones were closed or the dead zone was widened to the COVID of the whole Earth and everyone lost their powers, there's angels with wings after that. How is that possible? [00:22:47] Speaker B: Yeah. And this is a nice little explanation for how we get angels with wings turning into Matt Damon Posts. Count the shells. Big bird from Dogma. He's got the little nubbies. [00:22:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:59] Speaker B: He got the little nubs at the time that Nick set the green zones or the dead zones across the world. If you had your wings out, they stayed out. And they slowly routed away. If you had your wings in, they stayed in. Can't get them back out. [00:23:16] Speaker A: Yep. [00:23:16] Speaker B: So it's very. [00:23:18] Speaker A: And then eventually we'll atrophy and welt if they were out. [00:23:21] Speaker B: Yeah. So that's nice little catch. Thanks, Brian, for asking that question. So that way we can get an answer. Because I didn't even think about it. [00:23:32] Speaker A: I didn't either. [00:23:33] Speaker B: That's a good little bit of lore to go along with stuff. [00:23:39] Speaker A: Yeah, it is. Then we get more Spawns Universe. [00:23:44] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:23:46] Speaker A: Well, don't miss these ongoing titles. [00:23:47] Speaker B: Well, I plan not to, Johnny. [00:23:49] Speaker A: We haven't missed them. [00:23:50] Speaker B: I've read one of those. Looks strangely familiar. [00:23:53] Speaker A: Yeah, we just covered it last issue. [00:23:55] Speaker B: And then another episode. Another one of them looks strangely like it's in front of me. For us to. [00:23:59] Speaker A: Oh, yes, it's advertising. Kingspong 37, which we're covering next. [00:24:04] Speaker B: We got that which played ad and the Fallout ad that Johnny has nothing else to say about. [00:24:10] Speaker A: Like I said last week, I got nothing to say about Fallout. What am I gonna say? [00:24:13] Speaker B: It's good. [00:24:13] Speaker A: I hope there's a new game. The show was good. I actually do want to watch that yakuza show on Amazon because I like those games a lot. But I heard some disappointing news that the games are really idiosyncratic and weird and funny and just, like, very Japanese in the way they go from, like, high tragedy. It's like low comedy. Like, just like, do, do, do, do, do. And I guess the show is mainly just plays it straight. Doesn't have the weirder funny moments. [00:24:41] Speaker B: The show does just play it straight. It's still very good, but. [00:24:44] Speaker A: Oh, you watched it? [00:24:44] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It's. [00:24:45] Speaker A: Oh, nice. [00:24:46] Speaker B: It's good. But it is very. It is very much capital D drama. [00:24:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Because the video games have a lot of, like, weird, funny stuff in them, and I was looking forward to that. But I'll still watch it. But I'm enjoying playing Like a dragon. Infinite wealth right now. It's actually what I've been playing. [00:25:02] Speaker B: Like a dragon. [00:25:05] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:05] Speaker B: Horde for the very first time. That's Horde. H O A R D For the first time. It's the first time you've gathered a horde. Hoarding, I guess hoarding for the very first time would have been better to. [00:25:18] Speaker A: Say is a hoard of dragons. Is a group of dragons called a horde. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Well, Drac, no dragons have hordes. [00:25:25] Speaker A: Oh, right, right, right. Like in the Hobbit. [00:25:27] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, like a. Like a. Oh, Jesus. Was it like a. Like a Smaug. [00:25:32] Speaker A: Smaug. [00:25:32] Speaker B: Smaug. [00:25:33] Speaker A: How can you forget Smaug? [00:25:34] Speaker B: Sm. [00:25:51] Speaker A: So, next up, we have King Spawn 37. [00:25:55] Speaker B: Yes, we do. [00:25:57] Speaker A: And I've got a badass cover in front of me, David. [00:26:00] Speaker B: I have a badass cover as well, Johnny. [00:26:03] Speaker A: I got the Bjorn Barons. [00:26:04] Speaker B: I gotta. You gotta get the Bjorn Barons. Look at this. [00:26:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:26:08] Speaker B: Holy crap. [00:26:10] Speaker A: Yeah, it's Spawn. [00:26:12] Speaker B: It's Spawn basically doing a blade. He's killing all the vampires. They're like Daywalker. [00:26:19] Speaker A: Yeah. He's just cutting their heads off like crazy. [00:26:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:22] Speaker A: Using a chain. Using a sword. [00:26:27] Speaker B: Take that, Nosferatu. [00:26:29] Speaker A: Yeah, he, like, cut him right off. [00:26:32] Speaker B: Mm. I do like how they all have different hairstyles, too. And it's that Bjorn baron Goodness. [00:26:37] Speaker A: That 3D art. Yeah, it's just. It's just really cool. [00:26:40] Speaker B: And you can, like, see every vein that Spawn has. Geez, he's a veiny man. That's Spawn. [00:26:45] Speaker A: Yeah, the vampire's wrinkles. Just the detail on that. [00:26:48] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:48] Speaker A: Really cool stuff. [00:26:49] Speaker B: Yeah, it's real good. [00:26:51] Speaker A: But there is, however. There is, however. There's a B cover by Francesco Tomaselli, and it is badass new King Spawn looking. Spawn with his scarf on. [00:27:02] Speaker B: Yeah, it is. It is great. It is the. Much like last episode, the Tauntaun revolver was the still from the Saturday morning Spawn cartoon. This has a little bit of that Spawn cartoon flavor because the skull on his belt buckle is a little. A little. A little goofier. And it's got big round eyes. And it looks so cute. It looks into a vintage little cheeks. It's great. [00:27:28] Speaker A: No, this definitely looks like the Spawn Adventures version of Kingspawn. [00:27:33] Speaker B: Yeah, this looks. This looks like it was mage to watch in the daytime with a bowl of cereal. And it's great. [00:27:40] Speaker A: Yeah, it's pretty cool. [00:27:41] Speaker B: I'm kind of sad that I didn't get this one now, but. How can you say no to a viewer, Barons? [00:27:45] Speaker A: You know you can't. It's one of my faves. Well, we pop it open. [00:27:50] Speaker B: Yes, indeed. We gotta pop that bad boy open credits. Okay, we got scripts, plot by Todd McFarland. Double Todd, father Day, Johnny. We forgot to mention. Hey, we got art by Yilduray Senaar. We got color by Ivan Nunez, lettering by and world design cover the covers. Todd McFarlane's creative director, Thomas Healy is the editor in chief. Previously in King Spawn. Spawn continues to track down those responsible for the plot to kidnap Granny Blake and finds himself, along with Cygor, in a nest of angels. Ooh, nest of angels. Ooh, that's good band name. [00:28:27] Speaker A: That is good band name. That's what I was about to say. [00:28:29] Speaker B: Very good. [00:28:30] Speaker A: Like Evanescence or something. Or not Evanescence. Wake me up. [00:28:37] Speaker B: Oh, Night wish. Nightwish. Nightwish is fucking great. [00:28:40] Speaker A: I love Nightwish. [00:28:41] Speaker B: I wish I had an angel for one moment of love. It asks if I'm playing music, John. Nice. You heard it here first, y'all. Zoom thinks David's singing is actual music. [00:28:59] Speaker A: Nice. It asks you that. It, like, asks if you're playing music. [00:29:02] Speaker B: Yeah, because I think it was trying to cut it out or if I needed to keep it in, said, are you playing music? But we start off with our boy Monkey himself. Cygor. [00:29:14] Speaker A: Cygor. [00:29:16] Speaker B: It's been over a year. [00:29:17] Speaker A: I like the art in this. Senar does a great job. [00:29:19] Speaker B: Yeah, it's very good art. It's very clean. [00:29:23] Speaker A: Clean and like. [00:29:24] Speaker B: Yeah, and there's. There's a nice. Heft to it. It's clean, but it's still kind of gritty. [00:29:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:29:32] Speaker B: Clean enough that you notice the grit more. I think it's great. It's wonderful. [00:29:37] Speaker A: And we get a little backstory in Cygor, how he's been resurrected from death for over a year. [00:29:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:42] Speaker A: And he's evolved war as he's been alive again. [00:29:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:45] Speaker A: And he's vowed loyalty. He's done a Wookie life debt as well, to the man that gave him his life back. [00:29:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:52] Speaker A: That man is Al Simmons. [00:29:53] Speaker B: That man is Al Simmons. Al Simmons is the Han Solo of Kingspawn. [00:29:58] Speaker A: Exactly. Now, this is to fly a ship together. [00:30:02] Speaker B: Yeah. And he needs to. He needs to find Lando Calrissian type lover. That's my. Do you know. Do you know about old. Old man himself? [00:30:13] Speaker A: Yeah. Billy D. Williams. [00:30:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:14] Speaker A: That was hilarious. [00:30:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:16] Speaker A: He was like. He was like, why is he wearing Han's vest at the end of the end of Empire Strikes Back? He's like, well, they would love it. That's awesome. [00:30:25] Speaker B: Oh, Billy D. Williams is great. They were lovers. Hello. What have we here? Okay. Yes. And so, no, you know, it's kind of. Kind of a cut to from sort of backstory, too. Now we've got Spawn and Psychor just. Ha. They just busted through this wall. Something that I think Johnny would drive me insane if I had to do artwork for this book. In particular is Psygor's Stitch continuity. [00:30:54] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:55] Speaker B: Man, I would be so obsessed with. But no, it's at the yields array. Does a great job at it. Because I was thinking about that. I wanted to bring it up and kind of be like, you know, the stitches aren't the same in between panels, but largely they are. [00:31:09] Speaker A: There you go. [00:31:10] Speaker B: Yeah, it's real good. Then Spawn says, the badass. Your move, Tyrone. [00:31:17] Speaker A: They all got swords. [00:31:18] Speaker B: I'm glad. I'm glad that his name was Tyrone and not Carl. Because saying, your move, Carl doesn't quite have the gravitas. [00:31:26] Speaker A: They got swords and bows and arrows. Because they're not using guns. [00:31:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:29] Speaker A: Because that would set off the alarm. [00:31:31] Speaker B: Yeah, it would. [00:31:33] Speaker A: And they'd all be locked in there. [00:31:34] Speaker B: It sure would. But that works to Al. Al Simmons benefit, as we'll see in a minute. So Spawn and Cyr, you know, reach out with a ninja star and sword and big, funkin gorilla hands and just start fucking these guys up. [00:31:52] Speaker A: Jillian, Ninja started the throat. [00:31:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:55] Speaker A: It says Spawn knows what's up. [00:31:57] Speaker B: Yeah. He's like, I don't need. I don't need the police here. Not now. At least. And Cygor's fucking these guys up. And one of them stabs him right in the stomach. And then Cygor's just like, you know what, you motherfucker? I'm smashing your head for that. And oh boy, oh boy. This, this Psygor smashed that man head good. [00:32:17] Speaker A: Yeah, boy. [00:32:19] Speaker B: And then they leave a pile of dead bodies in their wake. John. Then Cygor gets stabbed in the back with an axe. I guess technically it's axed in the back. And then Al Simmons takes revenge against that guy with a chain to the throat. And then we get another big loud whoooom. And a whole bunch more Angels have biker ganged their way through the hole in the wall. And they're just this round, Cygor and Alison. And Tyrone's like, ha. Do you really think I'm that dumb that I wouldn't protect myself? And Al Simmons is like, okay, no, kind of. Actually, I kind of planned for this. And so he says, cygor fastball special now. [00:32:58] Speaker A: Yep. [00:32:59] Speaker B: And Cygor picks Al Simmons up by the feet and swings him around in a circle. And as he does that, Al Simmons just goes blam, blam, blam, blam, blam, blah blah, blah, blam. [00:33:09] Speaker A: Like becomes his own rotating Gatling gun. [00:33:12] Speaker B: Yeah, he does it like a. This feels like a cutscene from Wanted with the bullet. [00:33:19] Speaker A: Bullet curving. [00:33:20] Speaker B: Yeah. He fucks these guys up but good. Johnny. [00:33:23] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just a great two page spread. Like the detail on all the different gangsters, or angels, I guess. [00:33:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:33:29] Speaker A: Is awesome. And like just like blasted them. [00:33:32] Speaker B: Yeah. And since, you know, he knew about the gunshot sensitivity of the security system. We get now very taut. [00:33:41] Speaker A: Father Countdown. [00:33:42] Speaker B: He has just 1 minute and 12 seconds left to finish what he came here to do. And then we get a breakdown of what, what goes into that. 1 minute and 12 seconds. Yep. In 14 seconds, the walls around him will seal themselves off. In 20 seconds, an alarm will go off that will alert the police precincts in the area of some major disturbance. 58 seconds after that, police cars will begin to pour in from all directions. It's a great response time. [00:34:08] Speaker A: I'm pretty sure that's really good. [00:34:11] Speaker B: The problem with security systems is, I mean, most of the time people are going to be dealing with false alarms. And so there's not going to be a real urgency to get out anytime there's an alarm like that. But also that response time just depends on how far away somebody is. It could still be like 15 minutes before they get to your door. [00:34:30] Speaker A: That's true. Not these guys. These Angels are connected. [00:34:33] Speaker B: Don't use that information in a nefarious purpose. Y'all just use that as a way to keep cautious. [00:34:39] Speaker A: And they're all just dead. Pretty much everyone but Tyrone. [00:34:42] Speaker B: Everybody. Cause they gotta leave. They gotta leave one person alive to tell the story, Johnny. They gotta have the one guy at the end that goes. Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd. [00:34:52] Speaker A: Exactly. Attend the tales. Spawn. He leaves Tyrone alive so he can tell his daddy about it. [00:34:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And Tyrone's like, you fucked everything up. Look at this bullshit. You think you're gonna get away with this? And while he's trying to do this, Psychor just yells at him. And then Spawn punches him in the. [00:35:11] Speaker A: Just punches him right in the nose. [00:35:13] Speaker B: I like that. Like just the 12 of. Ha. And then after Tyrone's out cold, they have 47 seconds left. And Al's like, yo, Cygor, this story looks weakest. Go punch that one. And Psychor does. [00:35:33] Speaker A: And then busts out. [00:35:34] Speaker B: He does his best King Kong impression, and he grabs his lady love and starts climbing towards the top of the Empire State Building. Johnny. [00:35:43] Speaker A: And he's got his bargaining chip. He's going to use. [00:35:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:35:46] Speaker A: To get back to the people that. With Granny Blake. [00:35:50] Speaker B: Yeah, don't fuck with Blake. Al Simmons will come after you. So. And then he's going to use those people who tried to pull it over on him by capturing Granny Blake. He's going to either say that they can help him take over Blood, or they will no longer be able to do anything because he'll kill them. He's going to give them an offer they can't refuse. Jenny. [00:36:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:36:14] Speaker B: And then as Cygor is batmaning away with Spawn over his shoulder, the police pull up to the just completely wrecked warehouse that Cygor has busted them out of. [00:36:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:36:28] Speaker B: But if. If Al Simmons can't find a way to stop Blood, then all that he's done tonight will have been in utter vain. And then we get a Kingspon skull or crown to end this. [00:36:38] Speaker A: Crown. Skull. [00:36:39] Speaker B: Crown. Skull. Skull. Scrown. A Scrown. A Krull. Oh, no, that's copyrighted Skrull. And then. Spawning ground. [00:36:47] Speaker A: Spawning ground. [00:36:48] Speaker B: More SDCC 2024 spotlights. More pictures. All new pictures. Even though there is still a picture with Keanu Reeves. [00:36:55] Speaker A: There is Keanu. [00:36:56] Speaker B: There is a person I recognize here, Johnny. And we know that. We know the story behind this picture. That they were trying to get Erica Schultz to hold on to this prototype of the deviant. And she was like. [00:37:08] Speaker A: She was like, I'm not touching that. [00:37:10] Speaker B: Please. Please revisit that conversation if you haven't now, it's. It's a good time. Erica Schultz is a great hang. [00:37:16] Speaker A: Yeah, it's a great episode. Listen to our Erica Schultz episode. [00:37:19] Speaker B: And then we got Todd McFarland doing a little. Showing us a little bit of his gun. He needs to move that up a little bit. Show us a little more meat. [00:37:28] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:37:29] Speaker B: And then John. [00:37:30] Speaker A: Johnathan Gladon Glapian. [00:37:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Signing stuff. [00:37:33] Speaker A: Yep. Got that awesome salmon Twitch poster. See? [00:37:36] Speaker B: Yeah, it's awesome. Need more sponsor universe, Johnny. [00:37:39] Speaker A: You know, it can't escape it. [00:37:40] Speaker B: Can't escape it. It's inescapable. Don't miss these ongoing titles. Then the Witchblade. And then one we haven't seen too many times. World of Warcraft is the toy ad. [00:37:50] Speaker A: World of Warcraft is the toy ad. Yeah. Wow. Another Blizzard game. Blizzard makes those really addictive games. [00:37:57] Speaker B: Yeah, they do. They do. [00:37:59] Speaker A: They're like dopamine machines. It's nefarious. [00:38:03] Speaker B: It's insidious. [00:38:04] Speaker A: Dun, dun, dun. [00:38:05] Speaker B: It's kingspawn 37. [00:38:07] Speaker A: Wrap it, put it on a sandwich and eat it. [00:38:10] Speaker B: Oh, don't. Dangerous grad talking about sandwiches, Johnny. Just like. Just like talking about puppies when they can't hear you means they might sneak up on you and try to rate you as bad. So let's rate some puppies. Joni. [00:38:25] Speaker A: It's time to rate the puppies. That whole time, David was holding up. [00:38:31] Speaker B: A dog to the camera. Just so everyone knows, I keep forgetting that this is audio only. [00:38:37] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:37] Speaker B: Just having a good time hanging out with my pal. Pal Johnny. Reading some spawn, rating some puppies. What do you want from me? [00:38:44] Speaker A: Audio. We want audio. [00:38:47] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But don't you remember, Johnny, that video killed the radio star, which means. I don't. I don't know where I'm going with that. So let's just rate these puppies. [00:38:55] Speaker A: Let's do it. I don't think people would like the audio or the video of me sitting in my closet like a T shirt. [00:39:01] Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know. I enjoy it. I enjoy seeing it when my game. And I get to see it. Yeah, see my friend Johnny. I get to see my friend Johnny. [00:39:10] Speaker A: I'd have to, like, get like, a cool background, like, surround myself with spawn stuff. [00:39:14] Speaker B: You could just do the. The standard one that makes it look like you're in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. [00:39:18] Speaker A: Could do that. [00:39:19] Speaker B: Could have your. Your wookie friend next to you. I like that wookie. [00:39:24] Speaker A: I like that wookie. Maz is horny for Chewy. So first up, we had Gunslinger 34. We did kind of a transitional issue. It picks up where the cliffhanger, where the other one left off and leaves kind of another cliffhanger in a different time setting. I mean, I don't know, it was a fine episode or issue of Gunslinger. It wasn't like my favorite. It was just kind of an in between issue. Them moving pieces around where they need to go. [00:39:52] Speaker B: It's a very linking issue. [00:39:55] Speaker A: Yeah, but we get the rest of the story from his past next time. And just. [00:40:01] Speaker B: So you're saying, Johnny, that the next issue will be the rest of the story? [00:40:07] Speaker A: Exactly. But I don't know, it's just a lot of like him rolling around in a hospital and stuff. So what's my favorite issue of Gunslinger? So I'm gonna give it three. I'm gonna give it three shots of Valium. [00:40:22] Speaker B: Woo. [00:40:23] Speaker A: Three out of five. But yeah, I mean, it's fine. The art's good. It's just like not a lot happens and just kind of moving the pieces around a little bit. But I mean, it is what it is. [00:40:35] Speaker B: It's serviceable. It's. Yeah, it's better than it has to be for kind of the dissolve from one side of the story to the other. But. But it very much is just in the middle there. And it's kind of hard to rate it on its own terms. So I'm. I'm also going to give it. I'm going to give it three. Three hotel manager mustaches out of five. [00:40:56] Speaker A: Because hotel manager, that is. [00:40:58] Speaker B: That is. That is quite a mustache. [00:41:01] Speaker A: Yeah, man. He gives up Linda, that guy. [00:41:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:41:04] Speaker A: Gives up the ghost. [00:41:06] Speaker B: How dare he? [00:41:07] Speaker A: He should give up the ghost. [00:41:10] Speaker B: We don't wish that on anyone. [00:41:12] Speaker A: Not even a fictional motel. [00:41:14] Speaker B: Not even a guy with a crazy mustache. [00:41:16] Speaker A: Especially not a guy with a crazy mustache. Next up, we had issue 37 of King Spawn. This is the new King Spawn. It's like gritty, street level, ground level, taking dudes out. And it's more of that. [00:41:32] Speaker B: Hanging with his monkey. [00:41:34] Speaker A: Hanging with his monkey. Psycho adds some stuff. The art, it's fantastic. I really like what Yildaray is doing here. Like I said, like you said, there's this chunkiness to it. It's like weight to it, but really detailed and just really keeps you swept up into action. It's a fun read. I still miss kind of the cosmic stuff of King Spawn. I hope maybe they'll get back to that one day. But the street level stuff's Growing on me. I guess this issue was cool. I mean, I would give it 3.5 rotating Gatling guns. [00:42:07] Speaker B: Nice. [00:42:07] Speaker A: That's rupeed, because that's a. That's a fun reveal. And yeah, hell yeah. 3.5 out of 5. [00:42:13] Speaker B: It's been fun. The transition from Kingspawn as it was to King Spawn as it is has been a little rough. But I think it's, especially since it's the Todd father writing it, an exceptional clash of what he is best at versus what, you know, he likes to do. This has collapsed into something that is very, very close to what he is very good at, which we know is just that low down Geordie Noir stuff. And this is some peak Toddfather. This is like. This is the Toddfather being Toddfathery, but in a good way and not in a ridiculous way. And so I am going to give it, as said before, the art is just so good. It's wonderful. I am going to give it four axes to the back. [00:43:04] Speaker A: Bam. [00:43:06] Speaker B: Fic. It's fun. I had fun. I'm having fun with current King Spawn. We've. We've talked about it enough that I'm over it being different. I'll take it different. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. [00:43:19] Speaker A: All right, that's good to know. [00:43:21] Speaker B: You know what else is good to know, Johnny? [00:43:23] Speaker A: Our friends on Instagram. [00:43:24] Speaker B: Our friends on Instagram. And this week we have somebody who. Johnny, I think you'll be surprised to know that this person likes Spawn. I guess they know about Spawn a little bit. It's Spawn's disciple. They gotta know him a little bit in order to be a disciple. Disciple of the Spawn. And he is a collector and has some very cool shit to show. [00:43:45] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm looking up right now. It's got a lot of great. They're posting all the covers. [00:43:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:51] Speaker A: Got a Watchman Spawn variant for Obama. [00:43:55] Speaker B: They got the. A lot of really cool homage covers that have like. It's like the action comics number one, Superman. That's a cool, cool one. [00:44:04] Speaker A: They got the. It's like a Marvel cover with the Incredulous Spawn. It's like a reference to the Wolverine Hulk cover, I believe. [00:44:13] Speaker B: Yeah, that is. That is indeed the famous Todd Father cover from the 80s. [00:44:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:44:20] Speaker B: But yeah, he's got a great collection of Spawn comics. It's good. He's got a film. [00:44:26] Speaker A: Definitely check him out. [00:44:27] Speaker B: He's got a film strip from the movie. [00:44:29] Speaker A: That's cool. [00:44:30] Speaker B: Yeah. 35 millimeter trailer film. Johnny. He's got the trailer. Hell yeah. Yeah. While you were on Instagram, you should also come find us. Regarding SpawnPod, we're also sharing pictures of things that we have. It's very good. [00:45:22] Speaker A: And I like to ask a question each week to kind of spur a conversation. This week I would ask. What would I ask? [00:45:31] Speaker B: What would you ask Johnny? Maybe that should be the question. What would. What should Johnny ask in a future episode about what you should answer to send. [00:45:41] Speaker A: All right. Yeah, ask. What question should I ask for the next question? [00:45:46] Speaker B: Yeah. If you have. If you have questions you want us to answer, it can be a question that you want Johnny to ask the community at large, or it could be questions you want us to answer. We'll answer them. [00:45:55] Speaker A: We'll be your own personal Spawn mail bag. Your own personal spawning grounds. [00:45:59] Speaker B: Yeah. And if we don't know the answers, we'll make something up and we'll act like it's true. [00:46:05] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:46:06] Speaker B: Speaking of doing stuff that's cool, Johnny, Lonnie Bones does some cool shit. He makes our music. Just Google Lonnie Bones music with a Y, not an ie and give him some love. Because he's shown us a lot of love in the past. [00:46:22] Speaker A: Indeed. With his dulcet tones. Dulcet tunes. [00:46:26] Speaker B: His dulcet tunes. And speaking. Speaking of dulcet tones, Johnny, would you like to maybe share your dulcet tones with the world in another week? [00:46:37] Speaker A: Yes, I would love to. I would love to speak about Spawn. [00:46:40] Speaker B: Lovely. Because I would love to listen to you talk about Spawn in a week using your dilute. [00:46:44] Speaker A: I think we'll listen next week. [00:46:45] Speaker B: I'm just going to listen. I'm just going to listen. [00:46:47] Speaker A: Wow. Finally, for once, I'm just going to be here. [00:46:50] Speaker B: We'll still be on video. Will mute me. So that way, if I try to. [00:46:54] Speaker A: Talk, John said, johnny Takeover. [00:46:56] Speaker B: Johnny Takeover. So what. What should. What do you want to Read for your Johnny Takeover then you should definitely read something you want to talk about if you're going to be talking about it the whole time. [00:47:05] Speaker A: Well, David. Well, David, I want to read Spawn kills every spawn two and scorch 33. [00:47:10] Speaker B: I mean, that's a very Johnny Takeover pairing, so I'll allow it. [00:47:14] Speaker A: Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, we'll get to get more Chibi Spawn and see what Jessica's Priest has been up to. So should be two awesome issues. [00:47:22] Speaker B: Yeah, it should be great. It'll be a double John Layman. [00:47:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:47:25] Speaker B: Wonderful. That sounds wonderful. Well, Johnny, hopefully everybody here knows that they should, you know, like us, subscribe to us, tell their friends and family and co workers about us. Because, you know, obviously they've done that already. Don't even need to mention it, do we? [00:47:40] Speaker A: No, not at all. We just breeze right past it. [00:47:42] Speaker B: So if I don't need to mention it. [00:47:43] Speaker A: Speaking of breeze, this episode is a breeze, man. [00:47:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Geez, it is a breeze. Well, that said, Johnny, I've run it out of. I'm running out of wind, so I gotta say, just made a scorch to. [00:47:57] Speaker A: Be with me and also with you, David. [00:47:59] Speaker B: Hell yeah. [00:48:00] Speaker A: Hell yeah. So what are your favorite monkeys? What are your guys? [00:48:05] Speaker B: So my. Who am I for Cygor? Oh, outside of Cygor. Let's see. I really like. I mean, I don't know that I know King Kong enough to say I'm really a King Kong dude. I gotta. I gotta get into more. [00:48:18] Speaker A: I like Peter Jackson's King Kong a lot. [00:48:20] Speaker B: I have. I told you the story about that. When I went to go see that in high school, there was a gigantic fire in a pasture not too far from my parents home. And the entire like as soon as the movie started, I had turned my phone off because that's how I was in 2005. And like five minutes into the movie, my mom started calling me to say, hey, where the hell are you? There's a giant fire. You need to either get home or if you're not on your way home, go somewhere else. And so she called me like 45 times over the course of that movie. And I just didn't see it because I had my phone. [00:48:55] Speaker A: That was like a three hour movie. [00:48:57] Speaker B: Can you imagine being a mother trying to call their child to let them know that there's a giant fire and somebody could probably die and they just don't answer their phone for three hours? [00:49:06] Speaker A: Yeah, she probably hates fucking Peter Jackson. [00:49:09] Speaker B: So. So all actual memory of that movie besides the bug scene, which is used to great effect for a blooded science song called Fictitious Pavilion. All of that has been washed away and an anxiety of rush violence. [00:49:25] Speaker A: Oh, wow. There you go. Yeah, I remember going to see it the night it came out and I had a big final the next day. I said fuck it and went and saw the movie because I really wanted to see it. But I still did okay on the final anyway. [00:49:37] Speaker B: Oh, nice. That's. That's the way to do it, Johnny. [00:49:40] Speaker A: Yep, I just stayed up all night, I believe. [00:49:43] Speaker B: Nice. You gotta shock the monkey. Hey. Hey. [00:49:51] Speaker A: I guess.
