[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is all just more smoke and mirrors bullshit. A publicity stunt from the climate change cranks trying to spook their gullible donors into coughing up a bit more money. I'm talking about this nice, cozy cabal with their mainstream media pals and the Washington elites. Mark my words, they'll be using this to justify telling you how you're supposed to live your lives. [00:00:23] Speaker B: And it's all a goddamn. [00:00:56] Speaker A: Good evening, and welcome to the Malbols. This is regarding Spawn, the world's best spawn podcast. I'm your co host, John Fisher. [00:01:08] Speaker C: And I'm your co host, David Williams. And I have a CGI face to make myself look younger. You can tell we spent a lot of nice. [00:01:17] Speaker A: You got one of those? [00:01:17] Speaker C: Yeah, we spent so much money on it. I'm debuting it here so that way our listeners can see how good I look with it on there. [00:01:27] Speaker A: I was scared, man, because I thought, they're going to go there in Mission Impossible, the new one, dead reckoning, part one. Sorry. Mission impossible, colon. Dead reckoning, colon, part one. Period. [00:01:37] Speaker C: Period. [00:01:38] Speaker A: I thought they're going to go there because they had a flashback and they just didn't show his face. But I was like, are they going to go there with Tom? [00:01:42] Speaker C: Period? [00:01:43] Speaker A: They can't do that. [00:01:44] Speaker C: A period on the end of part one. [00:01:45] Speaker B: Wow. No, I don't think there's. [00:01:50] Speaker C: Damn. [00:01:51] Speaker B: Damn. [00:01:51] Speaker C: That's a definitive ending for a part one. I could see Tom Cruise not being. Not appreciating the quality of the CGI they had and being like, you can't make me fucking look like that. [00:02:08] Speaker B: That looks stupid. Cut it. [00:02:10] Speaker A: He would say, like, I look the same. I think he would just be like, I still look the same. [00:02:14] Speaker B: What are you talking about? Yeah, that's true. [00:02:17] Speaker A: I think that's what he would. [00:02:18] Speaker B: Yeah, but if it made it. [00:02:19] Speaker A: You must be talking about Indiana Jones five. [00:02:22] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, I might be. Or if you are my old manager, Indiana Jones four, because he likes to pretend that the crystal skull doesn't exist. [00:02:34] Speaker A: It's funny because this one had different problems than crystal skull, but I guess on the whole, I like it better. [00:02:45] Speaker C: It had its problems, but the problems it had that were crystal skull. Like, crystal skull was like, the audience is going fucking love this. Like, you could feel them sitting there being like, the audience is going to fucking love this. We're going to make it go forever. But in this one, when they thought that the audience might like something, they were like, let's make it very short and very sweet, and if they love it, they love it. And if they don't, then we can just be like, hey, it's just an Indiana Jones thing. [00:03:11] Speaker A: Yeah, it felt very old school. I don't know. The plot was, like, I love that the end was just, like, the good guys and the bad guys walking to the same place. That's how I think of Indiana Jones movies. It's, like, usually how they. [00:03:23] Speaker C: It's. [00:03:24] Speaker A: And Indiana Jones usually has little consequence on the actual finale. Usually, people end up killing themselves. [00:03:30] Speaker C: Yeah, he just kind of, like, wanders around the edge and is like, oh. [00:03:37] Speaker A: They were carpenters or something like that. [00:03:41] Speaker C: Penitent man kneels before God. [00:03:43] Speaker A: They were interdimensional beings. That wasn't quite Harrison Ford. [00:03:50] Speaker B: No, that was weird. [00:03:53] Speaker C: I think you got some leakage from that toy portal going on, Johnny. [00:03:57] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know what's going on. No leakage. [00:04:00] Speaker C: Stop that up right now. Go buy some weather stripping and leave it. But, yeah, Indiana Jones five. Not terrible. [00:04:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:04:08] Speaker A: Dial a destiny. Dial it in. Dial it in on streaming if you. [00:04:11] Speaker B: Didn'T catch it, its ridiculousness wasn't as. [00:04:16] Speaker C: Ridiculous as crystal skull. It was still a little, like. [00:04:25] Speaker A: I was a little worried at the beginning to tie it all together. [00:04:27] Speaker B: Just. [00:04:27] Speaker A: There was, like, so much cg face. [00:04:29] Speaker B: And it just wasn't quite good enough. Yeah. [00:04:32] Speaker C: But then as soon as it comes into whatever they considered the present day of the movie, they just cut it. [00:04:41] Speaker B: What are you, like, 80? [00:04:44] Speaker A: It's like, yes, actually, I am in this one. [00:04:46] Speaker B: I am 80. [00:04:48] Speaker C: Wanda has for years, every time Harrison Ford comes up, she's just like, immediately. Girlfriend needs a facelift. [00:04:59] Speaker A: Yeah, he's falling down. It's all those years in hyperspace on the falcon. [00:05:03] Speaker C: All those years crashing his own hobby planes. [00:05:09] Speaker A: That too. Or crashing the falcon or getting crushed by a door. My favorite story about the Force Awakens, one where he got his leg stuck onto the falcon door, is like, abrams. [00:05:18] Speaker B: Like. [00:05:19] Speaker A: Like, got pulled his back muscles because he ran and tried to save him and tried to lift the door off of him. Like, oh, JJ. I'm sure he was very. God, I can't imagine that day on set that Carrison Ford's legs get crushed in the middle of selling force awakens. I bet people lost their minds. [00:05:36] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:05:37] Speaker A: How the fuck did this happen? [00:05:39] Speaker B: Yeah, that couldn't have been a good day. [00:05:44] Speaker A: Well, speaking of losing our minds, I had to read Spawn 307 twice, and I feel like I've lost my mind. [00:05:52] Speaker C: Well, I mean, it's the follow up to a story where what, Spawn's mind is transported to somebody else's. Brain. So, yeah, it can take you out. [00:06:05] Speaker B: Of your brain a little bit. [00:06:06] Speaker A: Yeah, it took me out. The goal of today is you're going to explain this issue to. I've. It's been really hot in Chicago recently, so I don't know if I'm just like, my brain gets fried when it's hot. And I can't understand things. I think that's why summer popcorn movies in the cold movie theater works so well for me because it's just like. [00:06:26] Speaker C: It is definitely, like high brain soup season. The fall is you eat soup, and the summer is your brain is soup. That's what they mean by seasonal soup is whether it's the food or your brains. [00:06:44] Speaker A: There'S always another soup. [00:06:45] Speaker C: And then springtime, the soup is the ground. Because it's just. [00:06:49] Speaker B: Oh, gosh. [00:06:50] Speaker A: Especially in Chicago. [00:06:52] Speaker C: Especially now. [00:06:55] Speaker A: It's been a soupy summer. [00:06:55] Speaker C: It's been a very soupy summer. We hit our single day maximum, our. [00:07:00] Speaker B: Single day high precipitation. [00:07:06] Speaker C: Record at, like, noon on a day that it rained until, like, six in the evening. [00:07:12] Speaker A: Oh, boy. [00:07:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:15] Speaker C: Everybody I know keeps sharing pictures of their flooded basements and, wow, it's been wild. It's been a real weird, like, almost. [00:07:26] Speaker A: Like all this heat and water. Like it's. [00:07:30] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:07:30] Speaker A: Something's going on with the climate. It's almost like, almost. I don't know. [00:07:34] Speaker C: Maybe. I don't know. Johnny. We did just hear. [00:07:37] Speaker A: I'm no scientist. I'm more of Brock the shock pedal type guy. [00:07:41] Speaker C: We'll have to have him on the show later to give us his two cent. [00:07:45] Speaker A: I wonder what he thinks about all this flooding and heat waves. There's no way to know. [00:07:50] Speaker B: No, definitely not. [00:07:52] Speaker A: He's never railed against environmentalists. [00:07:55] Speaker C: He's a blank wall until he opens his mouth. So you can't tell anything that's going to come out. [00:08:01] Speaker A: You never know what he's going to say. That is to say, welcome, everyone, to regarding Spawn. We are covering, as usually, two issues from Spawn's universe. Two mainline spawns. [00:08:15] Speaker B: Boom, boom. [00:08:16] Speaker A: Even though one is kind of out of the main story a little bit or pulled out. So, first up is issue 307. [00:08:26] Speaker B: All the way back from June 2020. [00:08:30] Speaker A: So there was two months there where there were no spawn. [00:08:33] Speaker C: Yeah, I bet it was hard to get it done without being able to go into the office. [00:08:37] Speaker A: Right? It was Covid. And no one knew how to adapt. I forgot how those first two months, no one did anything. [00:08:44] Speaker C: It was messed up, Johnny. [00:08:46] Speaker A: I forgot. But. Yeah, I forgot those first two months. Like, no one did anything. And then summer came, and they're like, all right, you're back. And everyone's like, should we be back? [00:08:55] Speaker C: Because it was like, everybody. Everything shut down for two weeks, and then we'll be fine. And then just, like, two weeks turned into four, and then we kept hearing stories about those two months, those people in China who went home for the Lunar new Year celebrations and then were still having to stay on their childhood, the floor of their childhood home four months later because they haven't been allowed to leave their hometown. Oh, jeez. [00:09:21] Speaker A: No. [00:09:21] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:09:22] Speaker B: That would not be fun. [00:09:23] Speaker C: That would not be fun. I could not imagine. [00:09:25] Speaker A: You know what else is not fun? Is Spawn 307. I'm kidding. I'm not a big fan of this prophecy of death arc we just got. But, yeah, that's our first issue up, is 307 with Raptor and Spawn. Second, our more modern issue is all the way back from May 2023, Spawn 341. [00:09:47] Speaker B: And it kicks ass. It does. [00:09:52] Speaker A: It's a lot of fun. [00:09:53] Speaker B: So good. [00:09:53] Speaker A: Spawn's just been a really good serialized comic story. Every week just kind of moves the story along a little more, and it's exciting to see where it goes. And juggling multiple balls and plotlines really. [00:10:03] Speaker C: Well, because we know Johnny loves juggling. [00:10:10] Speaker A: I'm a ball man. [00:10:11] Speaker C: He's out there with his devil sticks and his. No, no. Isn't that what they call the sticks with things? Aren't those devil sticks? [00:10:23] Speaker A: Yes. I was thinking of devil sticks with my jewel. [00:10:26] Speaker C: You were thinking of death sticks? [00:10:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:27] Speaker A: Listen, listeners, this is the first. It's a historic episode of Respawn. It's the first episode that I, john. [00:10:33] Speaker B: Fisher, am recording without vaping, because I quit, and you should too, because nicotine. [00:10:43] Speaker A: Is a really addictive drug that you. [00:10:46] Speaker B: Shouldn'T take because it'll control your life. [00:10:50] Speaker A: And maybe ruin it. [00:10:53] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:10:53] Speaker C: Has it ruined your life? [00:10:54] Speaker B: Johnny hasn't ruined my. [00:10:58] Speaker A: Definitely. I wish I had all the money back I spent on nicotine. [00:11:01] Speaker C: That's for fucking an. That is probably the best selling point for. [00:11:06] Speaker A: That is the best selling point. I mean, honestly, like, vaping, I don't know. It's never made me feel. I don't feel like I felt when I smoked cigarettes, like it was definitely a better option. That was years and years and years ago. I haven't smoked cigarettes in forever, but the money is the big thing, because I can buy more spawn with it. I was thinking about what spawn I could get. [00:11:24] Speaker C: I have long maintained whenever I hear n amount of money just being like, you know how many comic books you can buy for that? And now it has morphed to, do you know how many spawn comics I. [00:11:35] Speaker B: Can buy with that? [00:11:36] Speaker C: Because you can buy slightly more spawn comics than regular comics for whatever amount of money it is because they're still only $3 apiece. [00:11:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:45] Speaker A: It's basically like, buy four, get one free. [00:11:47] Speaker B: Yeah. If you think about you're losing money. [00:11:50] Speaker C: By not buying spawn, Johnny. [00:11:52] Speaker B: I know, I know. [00:11:53] Speaker A: I got to go back. I got to go back and buy some. Now that I'm not buying jewels, I can go like, man, maybe I'll follow. [00:12:01] Speaker B: That night terror event. [00:12:03] Speaker C: Jesus fucking Christ. [00:12:05] Speaker A: There's so many books for that. Have you seen any books? [00:12:08] Speaker C: Yeah, because I think almost every book that they have has two issues in. [00:12:15] Speaker A: It, and then just every character, they have a Zatana one. [00:12:19] Speaker B: They said, I almost got that. [00:12:20] Speaker A: They have like everybody. [00:12:21] Speaker C: I mean, I sat there and I counted off the checklist, and it's going to be like $110 for each month just for those books on top of whatever books you get for those. [00:12:34] Speaker B: And it's like, man, I'm totally going. [00:12:38] Speaker C: To try to get the library to buy that omnibus when it comes out, though. [00:12:42] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I'm curious. I want to see the horror stuff. It looks fun, but I don't necessarily want to buy. Maybe I'll pick up a superman. [00:12:49] Speaker C: Yeah, maybe I'll just pick up the two main books. Because I was like, man, this looks bitching. And then each successive title that they say that's going to cross over and I'm like, oh, man, I still really want to read it. But like the Matthew Rosenberg Joker's nightmare where he just works in a cubicle. Hilarious. Hilarious. [00:13:17] Speaker A: Awesome. [00:13:17] Speaker C: And that's the guy who writes Wildcats, so you know it's going to be good. [00:13:21] Speaker B: Oh, he's great. [00:13:22] Speaker A: Wildcats. Cracks me up. [00:13:24] Speaker C: Did I mention it on the podcast or just face to face that Matthew Rosenberg once wrote a book for black mask? So it was like a creator owned thing called four kids walk into a. [00:13:38] Speaker B: Bank, and it was kind of stranger. [00:13:41] Speaker C: Thingy thingsy, kind of goonies. It hit that real good 80s child nostalgic sweet spot. It was real fun. It was real fun. If you find four kids walking to. [00:13:53] Speaker B: A bank, read it. It's excellent. I'll check it out. [00:13:56] Speaker A: Yeah, I love his wildcats. It's like the best crazy eighty s, ninety s movie. Like a crazy 90s movie in the best way and. But a little self aware. [00:14:06] Speaker B: It's great. Yeah. [00:14:09] Speaker C: So why don't we bust open our issue number one of Wildcats. [00:14:14] Speaker B: Okay. [00:14:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Please, can we do that? [00:14:19] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:14:20] Speaker A: Please? No, I'm kidding. I'm sorry. To Philip Tan and Todd McFarland. [00:14:24] Speaker B: I love spawn. [00:14:25] Speaker A: Obviously. I love fucking spawn. This is the fucking 50th episode of. [00:14:28] Speaker B: My Spawn podcast, and I just don't. [00:14:31] Speaker A: Like these two issues. [00:14:34] Speaker C: Real stinkers, as we say. I do believe that overt kill would describe them as green and. [00:14:45] Speaker A: What's poopy? What does he say? [00:14:48] Speaker C: Like, the green kind? It's like the green, and it's, like, nasty or gooey. [00:14:54] Speaker A: Lord Almighty, help. [00:14:55] Speaker B: Gooey. [00:14:56] Speaker A: I don't remember. [00:14:57] Speaker B: Fuck, man. [00:14:59] Speaker C: There's some real stinker issues of spawn. [00:15:01] Speaker B: But in every life, a little bad. [00:15:04] Speaker C: Issue of spawn must fall. I guess it's our penance for having all this good shit coming out every week. [00:15:11] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:15:12] Speaker C: Such good shit coming out every week now, though. [00:15:14] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. No, and think about that, though. Think about that. This would have been two months without Spawn. [00:15:21] Speaker C: That would be even worse than being at home at the beginning of lockdown with, I hope this spawn issue is real good. And holds me over. [00:15:28] Speaker A: Yeah, you're waiting. You waiting months after 306, what the fuck? Like, rubbing your hands together, and then. [00:15:33] Speaker B: 307 comes out, and you're like, I waited two months for this. [00:15:38] Speaker A: They didn't have the compendiums out then, so you couldn't even be buying those. [00:15:41] Speaker B: Yeah. No. And, like, I think. [00:15:43] Speaker C: I think the trade paperbacks only covered up to, like, what, mid 270s or something like that. [00:15:50] Speaker A: Yeah. It was like when Jason Sean Alexander. [00:15:52] Speaker B: Started is when they started putting them. [00:15:54] Speaker A: Out again, I think. [00:15:55] Speaker B: Or at least. [00:15:56] Speaker A: Although I guess made them easy to find. [00:15:58] Speaker C: I guess there was around. [00:15:59] Speaker A: I don't know if they made them the whole time. I don't think they did. [00:16:02] Speaker C: They had done a couple of humble bundles around that time too. I think. 2020, there was another humble bundle. [00:16:10] Speaker B: Okay. [00:16:12] Speaker A: A spawn. [00:16:12] Speaker C: Humble. [00:16:13] Speaker A: Humble spawn. [00:16:13] Speaker B: Humble spawn bundle. [00:16:15] Speaker C: I'm still pissed that I didn't get that one. [00:16:17] Speaker B: Because if they don't start putting out. [00:16:20] Speaker C: The next trade paperback soon, Johnny, I'm going to have nothing to read for four or five episodes. No, because between 315, I think. [00:16:32] Speaker A: Can you get them from the library? [00:16:35] Speaker C: I guess I could get single issues from Hoopla. That's what I'll have to do. [00:16:39] Speaker B: That's what I was thinking. [00:16:40] Speaker C: That's what I'll have to do. [00:16:42] Speaker B: That's a good idea, Johnny. Thank you. Hey, I almost forgot about. [00:16:47] Speaker C: Occasionally I almost forgot about the freaking library, dude. [00:16:51] Speaker A: Don't ever forget the library. [00:16:52] Speaker C: Have you been to the downtown library. [00:16:54] Speaker B: Here in Chicago, the Harold Washington Library center. [00:16:58] Speaker A: It's impressive. [00:16:59] Speaker C: It's amazing. [00:17:00] Speaker B: It's amazing. [00:17:02] Speaker A: You can get it on a list to use a 3d printer. There's, like, rehearsal rooms. There's, like. [00:17:06] Speaker C: Yeah, practice rooms. I think they even have, like, recording studios. I think chance the rapper did a. [00:17:12] Speaker B: Lot of stuff there before because the. [00:17:15] Speaker C: Story about chance the rapper is. He used to go to Jones College prep in the south loop and got suspended for, like, two weeks for having weed. And during his suspension, he was like, I'm just going to write some raps. And now we have chance the motherfucking rapper. So, Jones Prep, your loss. [00:17:35] Speaker B: Yeah, definitely, man. [00:17:37] Speaker A: And our gain. [00:17:38] Speaker C: Oh, damn it. I ran out of steam. Which I think means we now have to talk about that. [00:17:43] Speaker A: We're going into 307. Let's do it. Let's talk about the covers. [00:17:47] Speaker C: Talk about the covers. All right. [00:17:48] Speaker B: So, Johnny, this is exciting. [00:17:51] Speaker C: So I have been reading in the trade paperback spawn aftermath, which covers 302 to 307. [00:17:57] Speaker A: Yes. [00:17:58] Speaker B: That's what I've been reading. [00:18:00] Speaker C: But after we separated out those issues for the couple of lots we bought, I also have two physical issues of spawn. Theo. Seven. [00:18:12] Speaker B: You do? I do. [00:18:16] Speaker A: Where'd you get them? [00:18:18] Speaker C: From you. [00:18:19] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:18:20] Speaker A: From the box. How many? 307. So I have two copies of 307. We got 307. We're rich. We got 307 fever, man. [00:18:30] Speaker C: It's almost like 307 could be the one that we start handing out for. [00:18:36] Speaker A: I'm not handing this shit out. [00:18:38] Speaker C: Leave it on the. [00:18:43] Speaker B: How many? [00:18:44] Speaker C: It says that there are three covers. Todd McFarland, Francesco Mattina, and Philip Tan. [00:18:51] Speaker A: Yes. [00:18:51] Speaker C: Or at least three have. [00:18:54] Speaker B: Correct. [00:18:55] Speaker C: I have sitting in front of me. [00:18:57] Speaker B: The Matina cover that's got world record. [00:19:01] Speaker C: Breaking comic at the top and prophecy of. [00:19:04] Speaker A: He's feeling sassy. [00:19:05] Speaker C: Feeling sassy. It's got like, a little. Looks like a stamp. Our comeback will be bigger than our setback. [00:19:12] Speaker B: Hashtag back. The comeback pm. Very exciting. [00:19:17] Speaker A: It's an all natural owl. [00:19:19] Speaker C: It's an all natural owl. And then in the bottom corner, there's a little round symbol. It says, tod McFarland productions, 1992 to 2020. [00:19:27] Speaker A: Our comeback will be bigger than our setback. [00:19:30] Speaker C: It's a bitching cover, I'm not going to lie. It's real good. It's actually the image that they used for the COVID of the trade paperback that this issue appears in. [00:19:40] Speaker B: Oh, cool. [00:19:41] Speaker A: It's got kind of an all natural owl there. [00:19:43] Speaker B: He's not quite. [00:19:46] Speaker C: The trade paperback, actually has the all natural owl more centered. So there's more fire and rock pillars on his right. [00:19:59] Speaker A: It expands beyond the. [00:20:01] Speaker B: Yeah, so that's pretty cool. [00:20:03] Speaker A: Well, I have that as. [00:20:04] Speaker B: Uh huh. [00:20:06] Speaker A: And I also have c covers, the Todd McFarland Philip tan b cover. [00:20:12] Speaker B: Okay, so that's the b cover. [00:20:14] Speaker C: Okay. [00:20:14] Speaker B: Does it have the trade dress on it? Yes. [00:20:18] Speaker C: Well, I have that. [00:20:18] Speaker A: The trade dress. [00:20:19] Speaker B: I have that color or cover, but it's virgin. [00:20:23] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:20:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:26] Speaker C: So it's got the Raptor and the Al Simmons just standed there with the chains going, WHOOP, WHOOP, whoopi. [00:20:33] Speaker A: David, there's a fourth cover. Here we go again. [00:20:36] Speaker B: Oh, man. Okay, hit me with it. [00:20:39] Speaker A: It's a blank spawn issue 307. Blank cover. Oh, Jesus Christ. It goes for, like, $1,000. [00:20:48] Speaker B: What? [00:20:48] Speaker C: A blank cover for $1,000. [00:20:51] Speaker B: A blank cover. [00:20:53] Speaker A: Okay, I'm going to look this up again, because I found all that cool info on it last time. [00:20:58] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:20:58] Speaker C: If this is going to be something like, it was like, a proofread copy that accidentally got put on the actual paper, and so it's the only one that exists. And they were like, yeah, we could make it a collector's item. [00:21:12] Speaker B: I don't know what I'm going to. [00:21:13] Speaker C: Do, but I'm going to do something that's hilarious. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Is spawn black or white? That's hilarious. That popped up on Google. [00:21:22] Speaker C: They obviously haven't read spawn three or seven. [00:21:25] Speaker B: Blank. Yeah, they obviously haven't, because he's both. [00:21:28] Speaker C: Because I don't know if you all remember from way back in. [00:21:31] Speaker B: Hold on. [00:21:32] Speaker C: Let me see what episode it was. Episode number four, where we covered the startling reveal of, but I'm a black man in spawn three, when he becomes Jim Downing for the first time with his fucking fucking starched and ironed pants. [00:21:55] Speaker B: And then we get to meet the. [00:21:58] Speaker C: Scruffy little dog for the first time. [00:22:01] Speaker A: Nothing but the blank one. I'm assuming it was just really low run because of the pandemic. [00:22:05] Speaker C: I mean, there were paper shortages out the wazoo there for a while. [00:22:11] Speaker A: So all it says, the facts about this issue. This is from key collector comics. Our comeback will be bigger than our setback post pandemic lockdown rally logo from diamond comics, which may have been inspired by Mike the situation Sorrentino from MTV's Jersey Shore, who was quoted as saying, the comeback is always greater than the setback, which is a misquote of pastor TJ Jakes, who coined the phrase, a setback is a set up for a comeback. [00:22:41] Speaker C: Wow. [00:22:42] Speaker B: That tickles me. [00:22:45] Speaker A: But nothing about why the blank 307 is so valuable. [00:22:49] Speaker B: So if anyone knows, maybe hit us up. I'm just assuming it's not around. So that's the weird cover for this week. Yeah. Interesting. [00:23:03] Speaker A: Not the weird cover, just the. The fun cover story. The comeback is greater than the setback. [00:23:07] Speaker B: Which is a misquote of a pastor. [00:23:09] Speaker A: So, yeah, I had that one with the. The one with the trade dressing. [00:23:12] Speaker B: There you have the virgin. The a cover you have the virgin is trade dressing. [00:23:20] Speaker C: Like a house dressing, where, depending on. [00:23:23] Speaker B: Where you go, it might just be, like, italian. [00:23:26] Speaker C: Or in Oklahoma, house dressing is always ranch. That's exciting. [00:23:30] Speaker A: Or there's that red dressing. That's always. I feel like a house dressing. [00:23:33] Speaker B: It's like, not red, but kind of like. [00:23:37] Speaker C: Kind of like french dressing. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Yeah, French. [00:23:40] Speaker A: French. [00:23:40] Speaker B: That's what I was thinking. French. [00:23:42] Speaker A: French, French. [00:23:43] Speaker B: French. [00:23:43] Speaker A: So there is an. A cover, shockingly, if you can believe it, David. [00:23:48] Speaker B: And it is by Tod McFarlane. Oh, man. And it's just spawn. [00:23:55] Speaker A: Spawn's face. [00:23:58] Speaker C: They don't even have that in the back of this trade paperback in the COVID gallery. [00:24:02] Speaker B: Really? [00:24:03] Speaker A: It's like that hobby one from a few issues ago. [00:24:06] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. No, they don't have it because they've got all of those ones. [00:24:09] Speaker B: Like they've got the medieval and the hobby, but they don't have the just l. Dang. Imagine getting. Paying $1,000 for a blank comic. [00:24:23] Speaker A: We got to stop talking shit on Swan collectors because we are with one. [00:24:27] Speaker C: Whereas usually, drawing on a blank comic makes it more valuable, depending on who you get to draw it. But drawing on this blank one will. [00:24:35] Speaker B: Probably reduce the value immensely. Wow. [00:24:39] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:39] Speaker B: Because that's confusing, man. It's tricky. [00:24:43] Speaker A: It's tricky. [00:24:44] Speaker C: This makes almost as much sense as the stock market, Johnny. [00:24:48] Speaker B: Pretty much. [00:24:49] Speaker A: What does make almost as much sense as this issue? Like I said, david, you're going to have to explain this. I did not get it, but let's do the credits. I understand. Credits. Tod McFarland on script. [00:25:02] Speaker B: God bless him. [00:25:04] Speaker A: Tod McFarlane. Philip Tan on plot. God bless him as well. [00:25:09] Speaker C: Philip Tan on pencils. [00:25:10] Speaker A: Philip Tan on pencils. [00:25:12] Speaker C: They got a lot. [00:25:12] Speaker A: Four people on inks. [00:25:13] Speaker C: A lot of people on inks. I guess this means that they just distributed pieces of the issue to people. So they'd have something to do at. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Home during lockdown, maybe. [00:25:25] Speaker A: Yeah, it's Philip Tan, Jonathan Glappian, Daniel Henriks, and Tod McFarland all doing inks. That's some interior pages there. Boom. There you go. Rob Liefeld. [00:25:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:37] Speaker A: Tom Ordishkowski on lettering. Our friend tomo the most prolific spawn man of all the spawns. [00:25:44] Speaker C: Yeah, he is the Spawn man. In fact, Soundgarden would make a song. [00:25:49] Speaker B: For him called Spawn man. Spawn man. [00:26:00] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:26:00] Speaker B: Johnny hot take. [00:26:02] Speaker A: Yo. [00:26:02] Speaker C: I hate 90s alternative rock. It's so annoying. [00:26:07] Speaker A: Spawn man hate grunge. Yeah. My brother was really into that kind of stuff. He listened to z 104.5, the edge. [00:26:15] Speaker C: Oh, man. That was what I grew up listening to. And I loved it. [00:26:18] Speaker A: But now I did, too. [00:26:20] Speaker B: Thinking back on it, man, it's just not good. [00:26:25] Speaker C: I should have just listened to 106.9k hits. Means today's best music. [00:26:30] Speaker B: Now give me my money or star 103.3. [00:26:34] Speaker A: The superstar sits at the. [00:26:37] Speaker C: Remember when it was. Did you say 103.3? Yeah. Okay, 103.3. [00:26:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:41] Speaker A: Star 103. [00:26:42] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:26:45] Speaker B: I can't remember. [00:26:47] Speaker C: It was 60. Couple of years later, it was just. It was eighty s, ninety s and. [00:26:54] Speaker A: Ninety s. And today they got to keep bumping it up. [00:26:58] Speaker C: Yeah. That was what my dad listens to. He listens to on the AM station, 740, KRMG. [00:27:06] Speaker B: Yuck. [00:27:07] Speaker A: Little Brock, the shock metal action there. [00:27:09] Speaker C: Yeah, for real. And then on FM, he listens to 103.3 for that classic rock. [00:27:14] Speaker A: Just hold on loosely don't let go that's what I always think of when. [00:27:19] Speaker B: I think of, like, a classic rock station. I always think of carry on, my. [00:27:25] Speaker C: Wayward Son and that you're as cold as ice yeah. [00:27:31] Speaker B: Willing to sacrifice our love that song. [00:27:36] Speaker C: Always makes me think of sitting in the backseat while it's cold and raining on our way home from a trip to Sam's club. [00:27:45] Speaker A: Nice. That's hilarious. [00:27:46] Speaker C: Sleeping on top of the raincoat. [00:27:48] Speaker A: We got Sonny go and Peter Steigerwald. [00:27:50] Speaker B: On colors, cover artists. [00:27:54] Speaker A: We already went over, but we got Tod McFarlane, Francesco Mattina and Philip Tan. [00:27:58] Speaker B: And here's a little wrinkle I'm imagining. [00:28:00] Speaker A: Because of the pandemic. [00:28:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:03] Speaker A: Tod McFarlane is listed as editor in chief. [00:28:05] Speaker C: Yeah, very interesting. [00:28:07] Speaker A: Very interesting. And you got Thomas Healy as publishing coordinator. Sneaking his way up. But either that was a typo. But I imagine it was probably just because of the pandemic. He was like, I'll do it. [00:28:18] Speaker C: Yeah, he was bloom from the producers. [00:28:24] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. I'll do it. [00:28:28] Speaker C: He's having a stroke of genius. [00:28:32] Speaker A: Oh, that's Roger debris. [00:28:34] Speaker C: Yeah, Roger. Elizabeth debris. [00:28:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Don't forget, everyone. They came from a long line of english queens. [00:28:44] Speaker C: He's got the same middle name as. [00:28:45] Speaker A: Hitler, which is Elizabeth. Nathan Lane was on. Weirdly, I was watching Jimmy Fallon for some reason. I must have been home in Oklahoma. And Nathan Lane was on there, and. [00:28:57] Speaker B: They'Re doing, like, trying to do password. [00:28:59] Speaker A: Where you say a word, you say something else. And Jimmy Fallon said. He's trying to get him to say. [00:29:03] Speaker B: Like, some kind of flower. [00:29:04] Speaker A: And he said, springtime. And, like, Nathan Wayne just yet. He's with Hitler. [00:29:10] Speaker C: That's what I. I sing that every year when the pollen starts, because I associate allergies with terrible things. I gotta sing springtime for Hitler every spring. [00:29:26] Speaker B: It's a banger. [00:29:27] Speaker A: I mean, I love the producers. [00:29:28] Speaker B: Oh, man, it's so fucking good. [00:29:30] Speaker A: So good. I remember that came out. I just listened to that. [00:29:33] Speaker C: Okay, let's just pop that on, and we'll watch the original sixty s, and then we'll watch the musical version, and then that will be. We're 35 minutes into this thing, Johnny. [00:29:47] Speaker A: All right, 307. Let's just rip the mandate off. [00:29:50] Speaker B: I do believe. [00:29:51] Speaker C: Got a reading to do, Johnny. [00:29:53] Speaker A: Okay. Previously in Spawn. [00:29:54] Speaker B: Here we go. [00:29:55] Speaker A: In prophecy of death, part one, a mysterious orange energy had engulfed Spawn and sent him hurling towards a horrific version of the future. A future that, if Raptor is to be believed, is all Spawn's fault. Now the showdown is set to begin. The hell spawn versus the angel slayer. [00:30:15] Speaker C: I have to say, I do like how orange is capitalized in orange energy. [00:30:21] Speaker A: Orange energy is very important. [00:30:23] Speaker C: Very important. Have you heard that hypothesis that there are people that orange is their personality? [00:30:31] Speaker B: And it's just like, there are some people that their favorite color is orange. [00:30:36] Speaker C: And they seem to make it think. [00:30:38] Speaker B: That that makes them special, and so. [00:30:40] Speaker C: They just have fucking orange everything. [00:30:42] Speaker B: And it's very weird. It's very weird. [00:30:45] Speaker A: Are you talking about anyone that went to os fucking well? [00:30:47] Speaker C: No, beyond that. We're talking about. [00:30:51] Speaker B: Well, a good little insight into the. [00:30:56] Speaker C: Kind of people I'm talking about is that time that Elon Musk and Kanye west did something in the exact same orange outfit. [00:31:05] Speaker B: Oh, right. [00:31:05] Speaker A: I remember that. [00:31:06] Speaker C: There were just people who make orange their whole personality. And it's like, what the hell is going on here? I don't get it. [00:31:12] Speaker A: You should all be going around looking like x wing fighter pilots. [00:31:15] Speaker C: Besides, we know that amber should be the color of your energy, not orange. [00:31:20] Speaker B: Yep. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Not orange amber. So we open on some amber blood. [00:31:27] Speaker B: To hell with them. [00:31:28] Speaker A: Come on. All right, David, you gotta. Like I said, I didn't understand body parts. Body parts. [00:31:38] Speaker C: Oh, hey, Johnny. [00:31:39] Speaker B: Johnny. [00:31:39] Speaker C: I'm a dummy. I do have a piece of that Todd McFarlane cover, because it's the COVID that they have in the issue in the trade paperback that separates. [00:31:52] Speaker A: So it's that close up response. [00:31:53] Speaker C: Yeah, so I do have it. Hell, yeah. [00:31:55] Speaker B: Woohoo. [00:31:55] Speaker C: We got. Is this the first time that between the two of us, we have all the covers? Aside from the first one that only had. [00:32:02] Speaker A: We don't have that fucking blank. [00:32:03] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:32:03] Speaker A: We don't blank cover shit. [00:32:06] Speaker C: Okay, so we're going to start. [00:32:10] Speaker A: No, we have a bunch, like, all the modern stuff. I get both covers. So we have both, like, all the king spawn stuff. [00:32:16] Speaker B: I usually get both. [00:32:18] Speaker A: Okay, Spawn has come through. [00:32:23] Speaker C: We're going to have to do this not quite sequentially, like we do. We're gonna have to cover sections of. So. [00:32:30] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, please. So what happened last time is spawn. They cut off medieval's head. And they brought him back to the secret base. And then this orange coming out. [00:32:41] Speaker C: That was the time before. [00:32:42] Speaker B: Two issues ago. [00:32:42] Speaker C: Two issues ago. [00:32:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to get it. [00:32:44] Speaker B: But then that's basically where we are. [00:32:47] Speaker A: Because all he did is he got gooed. And then he didn't have, like, a crazy vision. And now he's ungood, but he's there in the future. And when he came ungood, he just, like, went chop. [00:32:57] Speaker B: And he chopped off Cynthia's. It was all head. Cynthia's? Yeah, yeah. [00:33:05] Speaker A: Sylvia's. [00:33:07] Speaker C: I've got it right here. [00:33:09] Speaker B: I can look it up my head. [00:33:13] Speaker C: I think it's Cynthia's legion of a thousand angels. Because it's got, like, an x in it, doesn't it? [00:33:18] Speaker B: Or a z. Yeah, it's Claudia. [00:33:22] Speaker A: Claudia. [00:33:22] Speaker C: Claudia's. [00:33:23] Speaker B: Claudia's cuts off Claudia's head. [00:33:26] Speaker A: Do we know that she's the last woman on earth before this? [00:33:30] Speaker B: I don't think. [00:33:31] Speaker A: I think. [00:33:32] Speaker B: Don't go looking it up. [00:33:33] Speaker C: Well, no, they mentioned it because thrashing around blindly. When he emerged from the dark. He'd accidentally killed the last female left on this earth. [00:33:40] Speaker A: Okay, so we did mention it. [00:33:42] Speaker C: So I did mention it. For this issue, I'm going to say. Let's talk about from the first page to let's count 123-45-6789 to page nine, which is the nine panel grid. With Spawn on one side and raptor on the other. We're going to talk about that all as a chunk. This whole chunk is basically just spawn being very upset. [00:34:16] Speaker B: And kind of just shocking. [00:34:19] Speaker C: Kind of just not giving a shit what's happening. [00:34:21] Speaker B: He's just frustrated and is like, I. [00:34:25] Speaker C: Don'T even know what's going on, dude. What is going on here? [00:34:31] Speaker B: And we get kind of. So the first page with the arm. [00:34:36] Speaker C: Just, like, floating through space is kind. [00:34:38] Speaker B: Of just Spawn's inner monologue of to. [00:34:43] Speaker C: Help with them, to help with you, dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow. What the hell am I doing here? And then while Spawn is just kind of like, the hell is going on? Why am I here? Why am I so angry with everybody? I'm angry with everybody. Raptor is trying to come after him, saying she was the last one. [00:35:00] Speaker A: I do like this page. It looks great. [00:35:01] Speaker C: It's great fun. Little error you'll notice on yours. In the floppy, you can see all of the l and the t in last. But in the trade paperback, the bubble edge goes through the l and the. [00:35:18] Speaker B: T. Oh, cuts it off. Yeah, cuts it. [00:35:21] Speaker C: Like, the l and the t are still there in their full glory, but. [00:35:25] Speaker B: They'Ve got, like, a little line through them. Oh, I got. [00:35:31] Speaker C: Then while Raptor's kind of explaining that when Claudia's died, he absorbed her energy, which is how he's able to regrow his arm. And Al is just like, let me tell you something. [00:35:47] Speaker B: I don't give a shit. What are you talking of? [00:35:50] Speaker A: Yeah, he's like, I don't know what's going on. [00:35:52] Speaker B: That's kind of this whole section, up until that nine panel page. Is just Al continuing to be like, I don't care. I don't care. [00:36:05] Speaker A: He keeps mentioning that your kind destroyed the world. So Spawn, a spawn of some sort, it seems. [00:36:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:12] Speaker C: And Spawn's just, like, destroyed his world. He's just kind of like, what is with this? What? [00:36:17] Speaker B: What is with this dude? [00:36:19] Speaker C: Is kind of the whole thing. I do appreciate on the first page, the little previously in is see last issue, the pre pandemic one. Spawn's basically just standing there, and Raptor is trying to beat him up. But Spawn's just doing that thing where it's like. He's just, like, sidestepping all of his swipes and like, hey, what? Just calm down. Calm down. And then. And then we get to the nine. [00:36:53] Speaker B: Like, something else is at play here. [00:36:56] Speaker C: Larger than just these two men, Johnny. [00:36:59] Speaker B: Yes. [00:37:00] Speaker C: It's bigger than these two. [00:37:02] Speaker B: Much bigger. [00:37:03] Speaker C: There's, like, another fusing of their minds. For some reason, they take a time. [00:37:09] Speaker B: Out to do a Vulcan mind meld. [00:37:11] Speaker C: I guess it's equivalent to. [00:37:15] Speaker B: The engagement. [00:37:16] Speaker C: Dinner for a Vulcan family. Where I guess Spawn is the father. [00:37:23] Speaker B: Or no, Spawn is getting married, and. [00:37:26] Speaker C: Raptor is his daddy. And he's having to share a memory from his past. To prove that he can mind meld correctly. And so Raptor is sharing with Spawn a memory. So the next couple of pages are this memory that Raptor sends to spawn. We're not sure how he sends it to spawn, but because their brains refused for a second. [00:37:54] Speaker B: It's Raptor in hell jail. [00:38:00] Speaker A: Yes. [00:38:00] Speaker C: A man who he calls master comes. [00:38:02] Speaker B: Up and tells him, you're going to do this bullshit. End of memory. [00:38:12] Speaker A: The man kind of looks a little familiar. [00:38:14] Speaker B: Can't quite tell. [00:38:16] Speaker C: He's very frightening, though. [00:38:18] Speaker B: Very frightening. [00:38:19] Speaker A: Very frightening. [00:38:20] Speaker B: Very frightening. And then after that, I must say. [00:38:24] Speaker C: This section right here. [00:38:30] Speaker B: Until Spawn goes. [00:38:33] Speaker C: Back to the hideout in the middle of nowhere where they keep Mark Rosen tied up. [00:38:40] Speaker B: Not tied up. Captured, captured, tied up. [00:38:44] Speaker A: That'd be so hilarious. Like, okay, you don't know where you are. You can't leave. We're also going to tie you up just to be sure. He's like, God damn it. [00:38:51] Speaker C: So just, like, tie his hands to the keyboard so he could still be the man of the chair for them. [00:38:57] Speaker B: So this next section is very uncharacteristic. [00:39:02] Speaker C: Of the Todd father. So this has to have been some Philip tan influence where it's action going on. But the narration is not describing the action that is taking place on the page, which it's. Spawn is just, like, still glaring at Raptor, and they've got the glowing eyes going, and they're kind of doing the standoff scene from the good, the bad, and the ugly. But it's like the Gif version that just, like, endlessly repeats. Raptor's master is still giving him plans. He's like, this is what we're going to do. We're going to convert this planet. We're going to make it in our image. [00:39:40] Speaker B: We're basically going to become masters of the planet, the masters of the universe, if you will. They're going to say a magic word. [00:39:51] Speaker C: And then transform into muskly, muskly men. [00:39:55] Speaker B: With very tiny fur pants on. [00:39:59] Speaker A: I know nothing about the mythology of masters of the universe. [00:40:04] Speaker C: It's wild. [00:40:06] Speaker A: I know a little bit. [00:40:07] Speaker C: But all you need to know is you need to go on the terrible. The reason that there's going to be nothing new for the next two years. Got to go on Netflix. Those bastards who won't pay writers or actors what they're worth. And the series, they have the toys that made us. [00:40:28] Speaker A: Oh, I've watched that. [00:40:28] Speaker C: Yeah, you just have to watch the Heman episode of the toys that made us. That's literally more information than you would get from sitting down to watch the show. [00:40:43] Speaker B: It's wild. [00:40:44] Speaker A: Not toys that made us rules. Is there a new season I need to check? [00:40:47] Speaker C: I don't think they've made a new season of it yet. Don't tell Tim Seeley I said this, though, because Tim Seeley fucking loves masters of the universe. He has a whole masters of the universe collection, and I don't want to lose any cachet with him before we can mine him for. [00:41:05] Speaker B: Local clout. [00:41:08] Speaker C: We're going to use clout to get Tim Seeley on this show. [00:41:11] Speaker B: I'm calling it. [00:41:11] Speaker A: We can do it. [00:41:12] Speaker C: We could do it. [00:41:13] Speaker B: Yes. We could do it. [00:41:14] Speaker A: We could do it. [00:41:15] Speaker B: We can. [00:41:18] Speaker C: Maybe we can entice him with a very rare heman seven oh. [00:41:24] Speaker A: With rare Hemans. [00:41:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:41:26] Speaker A: And a free issue of 307. [00:41:29] Speaker C: It's like a 307. And issue one are the ones that we have the most of. Mr. Sealy, would you like an issue number one? [00:41:40] Speaker B: One. [00:41:40] Speaker C: The dollar version of spawn number one and 307. Your choice. [00:41:47] Speaker A: Come on our show. [00:41:48] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:41:50] Speaker B: So we then get sort of after. [00:41:56] Speaker C: Within what the master is telling Raptor, we get a little foreshadowing of who. [00:42:02] Speaker B: The master is, Johnny, because. [00:42:05] Speaker A: Yeah, a little bit. [00:42:06] Speaker C: We got Al Simmons. Never knew what he unleashed with my death hint. Number one, he had no idea he had sentenced the end of humanity when he had killed me. Number two, that doesn't really narrow it down very much, because Spawn's killed a lot of people. [00:42:18] Speaker A: Killed a lot of people. A lot of people. Yeah. He's no Batman. No Batman. [00:42:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:42:22] Speaker C: And when he does, I'm sure he'll scream and scream. If that doesn't just give it away, then hold on to your butts, readers, because we're going to get there. [00:42:35] Speaker A: We're going there. [00:42:37] Speaker B: And then. [00:42:41] Speaker C: The monologue ends with, and so answer a simple question. Can you be loyal to me? And Raptor says, yes, in the current time we are in. But he's talking to King K. That's Raptor in the now times, answering a question that is being asked in his memory from the before times. And when I figured that out, that's when this issue made sense. But that wasn't until the third read, because I was like, what is this bullshit? So, just to recap this issue, so. [00:43:17] Speaker B: Far, we've got Spawn kind of half assedly finding raptor. [00:43:23] Speaker C: Raptor being very upset with him. [00:43:25] Speaker B: They share a memory, and then they. [00:43:28] Speaker C: Go to the memory together. We go to the memory with them, and then the memory breaks from visual and auditory. But we'll say that the words are auditory. It goes from visual and auditory to just auditory to being over. [00:43:47] Speaker A: Okay. [00:43:47] Speaker B: And you get a little hint of. [00:43:48] Speaker A: The green world here because it's like. [00:43:50] Speaker C: It'S got that wolf just sitting there. [00:43:53] Speaker A: Yeah. It's saying there's also a sleeping giant, which will soon make its present known. [00:43:57] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. [00:43:59] Speaker C: Knowing that the flashback basically ends twice. [00:44:04] Speaker A: Yes. [00:44:06] Speaker C: Knowing that the flashback finally ends right here, I think makes the issue so. [00:44:10] Speaker B: Much easier to read. It helps. Yeah, it surely helps. [00:44:15] Speaker C: Surely helps. I don't know how much it improves it. [00:44:20] Speaker B: So we get this big page with. [00:44:23] Speaker A: Like six panels on it of like, raptors loved ones on one side. [00:44:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:44:28] Speaker C: Spawn. Spawn's loved ones and how Spawn's losses and what he does leads to raptor. It's a real nice page. I like this. [00:44:41] Speaker B: Yeah, the spawn eye is real good. [00:44:43] Speaker C: The Raptor eye is real good. Wanda's looking pretty nice there. Cyan's still very young and very excited. Is Cheyenne or Cheyenne Cyan pointing at Wanda there in the bathing suit because, wow. Hubba hubba. I like how there's a big, I like there's a fat guy with a hairy belly in the background too. [00:45:02] Speaker A: Yeah, Wanda, that's a revealing bathing suit. [00:45:08] Speaker C: That's like some 90s DC swimsuit issue. [00:45:15] Speaker A: Yes. [00:45:16] Speaker C: Action going on. I think they did one of those for X Men, like last year, but it was all just the Men in X Men so that way they wouldn't be accused of being too horny with the male gaze. I don't think it went anywhere, but. [00:45:33] Speaker B: I think that's hilarious to just be. [00:45:35] Speaker C: Like, we're going to make the extra horny issue, but it's going to be just the men. [00:45:39] Speaker B: It's great. [00:45:40] Speaker C: Hey, lots of people read comic books. Lots of people like to see lots of different things. So on the raptor side of this two page spread, that first column where it's like they're at a restaurant or something. If you look up at the top, it's like the fire emergency lights that are in big buildings, but it's got like, wings and a bow tie. [00:46:06] Speaker B: Oh. [00:46:06] Speaker A: Because it's future. [00:46:10] Speaker C: So all of the safety light fixtures in future fancy buildings are all fancified by getting bow ties. [00:46:18] Speaker A: I don't know. You're supposed to be explaining this to me. [00:46:23] Speaker C: That's hilarious. I just noticed that. [00:46:25] Speaker A: No, it is funny. I didn't notice that at all. [00:46:26] Speaker B: That is funny, man. There's some good little details hidden in here. Yeah. Oh, man. [00:46:36] Speaker C: But then, so Raptor just keeps being like, I'm going to kill you. [00:46:40] Speaker B: I'm going to kill you. [00:46:40] Speaker C: I'm going to kill you. [00:46:41] Speaker B: And then spawn just, like, slowly goes back to his own time and his own place. [00:46:49] Speaker A: I'm out of here. [00:46:51] Speaker C: So Spawn comes back, no worse for wear, but he knows that the beast has been freed. And then he realizes that his meeting. [00:46:58] Speaker B: With Raptor wasn't meant to really affect Al physically. Like, Al wasn't supposed to be killed by Raptor. [00:47:10] Speaker C: Al was technically supposed to kill Raptor, so that way, he could be burdened. [00:47:14] Speaker B: With this glorious knowledge of the beast being freed. Yeah. [00:47:20] Speaker A: Oh, shit. [00:47:21] Speaker C: Spoiler, Johnny. You spoiled Jessica and Raptor here. [00:47:26] Speaker B: Not Raptor. [00:47:27] Speaker C: Reaper looking pretty nice in the background there. [00:47:30] Speaker B: Like, Jessica's big shoulder. [00:47:33] Speaker C: That looks like. It looks like she stole the jacket from judge death. [00:47:39] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:47:41] Speaker A: Is he different than Judge Dredd? Is he another judge? [00:47:43] Speaker C: Yeah, he's a judge from a different world. [00:47:48] Speaker B: Okay. That. [00:47:50] Speaker C: It's a nightmare world, and they were corrupted by their power. And now the judges are the only beings that are allowed to live in their version of megacity. And so every time they come across a living, they judge them to be in violation and sentence them to die. [00:48:07] Speaker B: Real creepy. [00:48:07] Speaker C: He doesn't wear shoes, so he walks around barefoot. Amazing character design. It's frightening. Judge death. [00:48:19] Speaker B: Damn, that's cool. [00:48:20] Speaker C: He's like a skeleton man. And then we get a little bit of narration of. [00:48:27] Speaker A: So is it talking about the beast or Raptor when it says it'll take some time before the two of them. [00:48:32] Speaker B: Come face to face to get back where it belongs? [00:48:36] Speaker C: As he passes the maze of time, something follows him. It'll take some time. [00:48:42] Speaker A: It's Kincaid. [00:48:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I think that future. [00:48:48] Speaker C: Kincaid. [00:48:49] Speaker A: I got it. [00:48:49] Speaker C: Piggybacks on Al to come back to the past. [00:48:53] Speaker A: This is a setup for King Spawn. [00:48:55] Speaker C: Yeah. So much like Javi was sucked forward in time, King Cage has been sucked backward in time. [00:49:04] Speaker A: Yep. Everyone's time sucking all over the place. [00:49:08] Speaker C: Time sucking across the universe. [00:49:13] Speaker A: Fully going forward because we can't find reverse. But you thought I wouldn't know that, Dr. Demento. [00:49:19] Speaker C: Oh, man. You know better than I do. [00:49:23] Speaker B: Dr. Demento performed it at camp. [00:49:27] Speaker A: I performed it at camp when I was a kid. We did the Star Trek and parody song as our talent show thing. [00:49:33] Speaker C: Everybody always, like, I was in, like, three or four groups that did weird Al songs. [00:49:39] Speaker A: Yeah, it's always just a parody group. [00:49:40] Speaker C: Camp's for fucking nerds, Johnny. [00:49:43] Speaker A: Yeah, camp was nerds. [00:49:45] Speaker C: Let's just hurry up and boogie out of this so we can. [00:49:48] Speaker A: Let's get out of this. It's Kincaid. [00:49:50] Speaker C: Yeah, it's Kincaid. So look at him. [00:49:53] Speaker B: Holy shit. [00:49:53] Speaker A: Billy's gone. It's just Kincaid. He looks disgusting. He's huge. Yeah, he's fucking cade. [00:49:57] Speaker B: We know from King Spawn. [00:49:59] Speaker C: He's nasty. He looks like he was drawn by. [00:50:01] Speaker B: One John Wayne Gacy. [00:50:05] Speaker C: Which allows me to bring up a fun little anecdote now that this book is done. This book is done. Kincaid is frightening. He looks like he was drawn by John Wayne Gacy. God help us all. [00:50:15] Speaker B: Don't forget. [00:50:16] Speaker A: No, but there's that nice message. Be safe. Read lots. Support your local comic shop. [00:50:23] Speaker C: Oh yeah, that's not in the trade paperback, but no, it's in the spawning ground. [00:50:28] Speaker A: That's all it says. [00:50:29] Speaker B: There's no letters and there's just a. [00:50:31] Speaker A: Bunch of ads for a bunch of spawn paperbacks. [00:50:34] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:50:35] Speaker A: What's your John Wayne Gacy story? [00:50:37] Speaker C: So John Wayne Gacy story. Oh, man, they got some Johnny Cage action figures. [00:50:41] Speaker B: Look at that guy. Oh shit. [00:50:44] Speaker A: Yeah, he's Johnny Cage has an action figure of himself. [00:50:47] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:50:48] Speaker A: That's awesome. And an Oscar. [00:50:51] Speaker B: Oh, man. I like his. [00:50:52] Speaker C: I like his purple sunglasses. Raiden's looking. [00:50:54] Speaker A: I love that he comes with an action figure. [00:50:56] Speaker B: That's fucking hilarious. [00:50:58] Speaker C: I like how sub zero comes with a skull with a vertebrae attached to it. [00:51:02] Speaker B: Damn, man, these are pretty. [00:51:05] Speaker C: Okay, so John Wayne Gacy anecdote. So apparently while John Wayne Gacy was in prison, he wrote a book called. [00:51:15] Speaker B: A question of doubt, which is apparently. [00:51:19] Speaker C: Him saying, yeah, but I'm innocent. [00:51:23] Speaker A: Oh, interesting. [00:51:24] Speaker C: So fucking disgusting. So apparently, like 500 copies of this book were produced by John Wayne Gacy's lawyer. [00:51:35] Speaker B: And then one of these books, John. [00:51:38] Speaker C: Wayne Gacy's lawyer, smuggles into the prison. [00:51:41] Speaker B: During a client lawyer meeting. [00:51:46] Speaker C: He gets John Wayne Gacy to sign this fucking book. So one of these 500 books is. [00:51:52] Speaker B: Signed by the author, who just happens. [00:51:54] Speaker C: To be one of the most despicable. [00:51:55] Speaker B: People of the 20th century. That's crazy. [00:52:01] Speaker C: Free plug for the book table in Oak park. The book table in Oak park has in their possession the signed copy of John Wayne Gacy's book for sale. [00:52:13] Speaker A: How much? [00:52:14] Speaker C: It is one. $800. [00:52:18] Speaker B: Damn. Yeah. So if you are a certain collector. [00:52:24] Speaker C: And Jen needs to get yourself this book, come and visit your favorite spawn podcasters and I will walk you to the glass case that it is locked in and say, you tell these people you want to buy this shit. Wow, this got original artwork from. It's got like, his little fucking pogo the clown guy in there. It's like a slip case. They spent a lot of money producing. [00:52:51] Speaker B: These fucking volumes yikes. [00:52:54] Speaker C: I am fascinated and horrified. [00:52:58] Speaker A: Fascinated. I'm going to read a synopsis, definitely. [00:53:00] Speaker C: And revolted. But the problem is it's such a low print copy that there's not even really any good throwaway or beater volumes that you could just be like, I just want to see what this is about. So now the barrier to entry to just see what is it about is so high. But you will have an item. [00:53:25] Speaker B: You can literally go buy it as. [00:53:28] Speaker C: You'Re handing over the money. Be like, this belongs in a museum. [00:53:34] Speaker A: And they're like, yes, we agree. [00:53:35] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:53:36] Speaker B: Oh, man. That's crazy. [00:53:38] Speaker A: That's an intrigued story. [00:53:39] Speaker B: Thank you for that. Yeah. [00:53:41] Speaker C: Fucking wild. [00:53:41] Speaker B: Fucking wild. [00:53:43] Speaker A: Wilder. A great story from a mediocre issue of Spawn. [00:53:48] Speaker C: Although I bet 307 is better than that book is. It's got to be. [00:53:52] Speaker A: It's got to be. Fuck that book. Like, fuck it. I'm curious what it says because I'm. [00:53:58] Speaker B: Weird and I like learning about weird things. [00:54:01] Speaker C: But my favorite thing to do is if I meet anybody from Des Plains, I always ask them if they live in the Gacy house. But fun fact. So they tried to rehab and sell the house for a while, but everybody was like, fuck no. They tore it down. And that address no longer exists. So they tore the original house down. They've put a new house on that lot, but they have shifted all of the addresses on that block. So that way no house is actually the address of John Wayne Gacy's house anymore. [00:54:38] Speaker B: So there is a family in Des. [00:54:40] Speaker C: Plains thinking that they're living one house down from where John Wayne Gacy was. But guess what? They got all those ghosts in their house because it's built on. Fuck that, man. And then also I knew somebody who grew up, like, three blocks away from his mom's house where he also buried people. So it's fucking wild. It's weird having a celebrity serial killer in town and knowing people who. Because I have a friend who was a teenage boy in Milwaukee when. [00:55:16] Speaker B: Who was it? Bundy. No. Yeah. [00:55:20] Speaker C: When Bundy was going around. [00:55:22] Speaker A: The real handsome guy. [00:55:24] Speaker B: Yeah, right? He could have seen this guy. [00:55:30] Speaker C: He was in the suburb that Bundy lived in, man. [00:55:33] Speaker B: Wild. [00:55:34] Speaker A: Almost as wild as spawn 307. It's done. [00:55:38] Speaker C: Yeah, it's done. [00:55:39] Speaker B: David. [00:55:39] Speaker A: We did it. [00:55:39] Speaker B: It's done. It's done. [00:55:41] Speaker C: Like John Wayne Gacy. Because that motherfucker is dead. [00:55:43] Speaker B: Good riddance. [00:55:59] Speaker A: All righty, next up, a much better fun issue of Spawn 341. [00:56:05] Speaker C: We spent so long on the bad. [00:56:06] Speaker B: One that I feel we have to. [00:56:08] Speaker C: Spend a long time on this one. But I feel we're just going to clip through it because we're excited. That's the problem is the good ones. [00:56:14] Speaker B: Are easy to just go through so quickly, man. [00:56:19] Speaker A: So we got the amazing Mark Brooks cover. It's the interconnected cover here. Violator, Raven. We got army owl. We got Urzin back there. [00:56:29] Speaker B: We got lady who. [00:56:30] Speaker C: I don't know who it is. [00:56:32] Speaker B: Yeah, a little bit of Cygor. [00:56:34] Speaker C: Yeah, it's mostly Cygor saliva. [00:56:39] Speaker A: Yeah, it's like Cygor saliva flying. And a little bit of redeemer. It's part of the interconnected covers that I've been calling. They look like what the fucking spawn movie poster should look like after they get to, like, spawn ten. [00:56:51] Speaker C: Yeah, they are. [00:56:53] Speaker B: There's some good ass raven spawn on it, too. Yes. Look at that guy. [00:57:00] Speaker A: He's got the hook. Hook going. [00:57:02] Speaker B: Yeah, man. [00:57:05] Speaker A: And this cover I mentioned is by Mark Brooks. There's another cover. There's a sassy cover. [00:57:09] Speaker B: David, world record breaking comic. [00:57:13] Speaker A: Exactly. With a sassy cygor screaming in the rain. [00:57:17] Speaker C: Nice. [00:57:18] Speaker B: By Mirko Kalak. [00:57:20] Speaker A: He's like, screaming and blood's coming, and there's rain. And I guess the top father was feeling sassy. [00:57:28] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:57:29] Speaker C: He put it on the COVID That's a pretty frightening cover, I'm not going to lie. [00:57:33] Speaker A: So those are just a and b covers. [00:57:35] Speaker B: Both awesome. [00:57:37] Speaker A: We've got Roy McConville writing that script plot with Todd McFarlane on additional script. Our main man on the main title. [00:57:47] Speaker B: Carlo Barberi, knocking it out in the park. [00:57:50] Speaker A: Knocking it out with all these fun, different characters and politics. You got J. David Ramos on colors, Tom Orchachowski doing double duty. He does this and gunslinger now. Holy shit. [00:58:02] Speaker B: How does he do it? How does he do it? I don't know. I don't know. [00:58:05] Speaker C: That's his own little secret. [00:58:08] Speaker A: We covered the covers. Tom McFarland's creative director, and Thomas Healy, our man, editor in chief. [00:58:16] Speaker B: In the right spot. [00:58:17] Speaker C: Where he should be. Just where he should be. [00:58:20] Speaker A: So previously in Spawn, Spawn and haunt continue to make their way through heaven in search of a cure for the poison coursing through Haunt's body. [00:58:31] Speaker C: Man, you can always tell when the toddfather doesn't write the previously in Spawn. [00:58:39] Speaker A: Short and sweet, baby. [00:58:41] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:58:42] Speaker C: Who the hell are, uh. [00:58:45] Speaker B: We start off know, continuing with Corvox. [00:58:50] Speaker C: Showed up at the end of the. [00:58:51] Speaker B: Last issue being like, spawn. Another. They're having a little chitchat. Chitten and chat. Yeah. [00:58:59] Speaker A: He's like, look, you're the reason I've been trapped here. You trapped me in these damn dead zones. [00:59:05] Speaker B: And I can help you find this poison, but you got to help me. [00:59:10] Speaker A: Because I want to get the hell out of here. [00:59:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:59:13] Speaker C: So, talking about a little tit for comic book. It's comic book people meeting for the. [00:59:19] Speaker B: First time, so obviously, they can't resolve this peaceably, John. [00:59:26] Speaker A: Well, fucking spawns using that same argument, my God bless her soul grandmother used. [00:59:31] Speaker B: To make of, like, well, you know. [00:59:33] Speaker A: The native Americans were killing each other before we came. And, like, I'm like, oh, God damn it. [00:59:39] Speaker C: I was about to say, not only is the toddfather being sassy with the world record bacon comic, but al himself is just being. Yeah, he's a sasspot, is what we're going to call him. [00:59:50] Speaker A: Yeah, well, heaven hell got along so well before then. It's like, damn. [00:59:53] Speaker C: Spawn has cut too close. I like the s on Spawn has cut far too close to the truth. That is a nice s. It's a. [01:00:00] Speaker B: Real nice s. Tomo has a nice. [01:00:05] Speaker A: Nice. That's one nice s. You're thinking of Wanda in the last issue. [01:00:13] Speaker C: No, I said what I said, and I meant it. [01:00:16] Speaker A: Okay. [01:00:17] Speaker C: Nice s on that. [01:00:23] Speaker B: Know. [01:00:25] Speaker C: Corvox lashes out at Spawn, and Spawn. [01:00:28] Speaker B: Just. [01:00:31] Speaker C: Hits him in the face with a chain. [01:00:33] Speaker A: With a chain. Damn. [01:00:34] Speaker C: Yeah. Wraps him up. Corvox breaks the chains. [01:00:38] Speaker B: Never break the chain. [01:00:42] Speaker C: Then power blasts him with some bright light. [01:00:46] Speaker B: Some bright light, if you will. [01:00:50] Speaker C: And then while they're doing that, Spawn just. Or no haunt, just throws some goop at the back of corvine. [01:00:56] Speaker B: Yeah. He's like. [01:00:57] Speaker A: Thwips. The back of his head. He's like, hey, over here. Here's some thwip. [01:01:02] Speaker C: It was like, hey, we're in fucking heaven, you guys. We're hiding in heaven. Don't blow it. That's real great. [01:01:13] Speaker A: He's just like, guys, do you remember I have a poison. I need help, please. [01:01:18] Speaker C: Yeah. And then we learned that haunt conveniently forgot to tell Spawn that there's some issues with his powers, or else he wouldn't have been able to. [01:01:29] Speaker A: A little wacky. [01:01:30] Speaker C: A little wacky. And Spawn's like, well, fine, let's get to it. [01:01:33] Speaker B: Corvox, you lead the way. [01:01:35] Speaker C: And then smash cut to Mustafar. [01:01:39] Speaker A: Oh, yes. [01:01:41] Speaker C: Got there before you did. [01:01:44] Speaker A: Got there. Yeah, the original. Well, I guess it is mustafar. There's a whole bunch set on Mustafar in a couple different drafts of rise. [01:01:52] Speaker C: Of what darth Maul was. [01:01:56] Speaker B: There. [01:01:56] Speaker A: He goes there. [01:01:58] Speaker B: Darth Maul. [01:02:01] Speaker C: No, I'm thinking of back before Disney got the comics license. There was an issue where Darth Maul goes to Mustafar to fight Darth Vader. [01:02:14] Speaker B: And it was excellent issue. [01:02:17] Speaker C: And I got that confused with Darth Maul living on Mustafar for a while, but now Maul never lived on Mustafar. He just goes to fight Darth Vader once or twice. [01:02:27] Speaker B: No, originally. [01:02:28] Speaker A: Well, I guess in the movie it is Mustafar. [01:02:30] Speaker B: They just don't say it, but Kylo. [01:02:32] Speaker A: Ren goes there to get the wayfinder. But originally, there's a lot more to it than that. [01:02:38] Speaker B: But they changed it so we could. [01:02:41] Speaker A: Have seen Mustafar again. [01:02:42] Speaker B: It would have been the third time, fourth time, fifth time. [01:02:45] Speaker C: I don't. Nothing like a big rock castle at. [01:02:50] Speaker B: The top of a lava waterfall. [01:02:53] Speaker A: You got it, baby. [01:02:54] Speaker B: It's great. [01:02:55] Speaker A: That's where cataclysm lives. [01:02:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:58] Speaker A: They call it the infernal keep. [01:03:00] Speaker B: And we're here in hell. [01:03:01] Speaker A: There's a bunch of fleabiacs standing around. [01:03:03] Speaker C: Yeah. One of them gets shanked right through the stomach. [01:03:06] Speaker A: And cataclysm's just ripping them apart, man. Cutting their jaws off. [01:03:11] Speaker C: The fleabiacs almost kind of look like Hell's versions of Pokemon. Where there's a whole bunch of different ones. And you got to get one of each. [01:03:21] Speaker A: Carlo Barberi's fleabiacs look like mad balls. [01:03:25] Speaker C: Yeah, they look like something you'd get in the little gumball machine next to the. Between the homies and the sticker machine, you get the. They're. They're also right next to the muscle men. Do you remember those? [01:03:44] Speaker A: Yeah. Muscle. M-U-S-C-L-E. Right. They were like little tan colored little guys. Or not tan. Just like skin colored. [01:03:57] Speaker C: One skin colored. So we'll call them tan. We'll call them tan. One shade of many shades of colors. [01:04:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:04:06] Speaker B: I'm bad. [01:04:06] Speaker A: I'm canceled. [01:04:07] Speaker B: You're canceled? [01:04:08] Speaker C: You're like that old crayon box that has flesh colored flesh. [01:04:14] Speaker A: Exactly. [01:04:14] Speaker B: That's hilarious. [01:04:15] Speaker A: Flesh. Oh, my God. That's pretty eurocentric way to view colors. [01:04:22] Speaker B: Hey, man. [01:04:25] Speaker C: Welcome to the party, pal. [01:04:28] Speaker A: I caused empire. [01:04:32] Speaker B: Cataclysm is just. Oh, man. [01:04:38] Speaker C: He's taking these Fleabie X out to lunch. He's taking them to the dry cleaners. [01:04:43] Speaker A: He's taking them to Fucking. [01:04:46] Speaker C: Like, I need me some mexican gumbo in my belly right now. [01:04:52] Speaker A: Extra avocado, and I'm not paying for it, either, man. [01:04:56] Speaker C: I like qdoba more than Chipotle. [01:04:59] Speaker B: It's fucking good. They're about the same to me. Cudoba's queso is way better, and their. [01:05:09] Speaker C: Chips are more consistent. [01:05:12] Speaker B: When you get a good bag of. [01:05:13] Speaker C: Chipotle chips, there's nothing like it. But it's hit or miss. [01:05:18] Speaker B: Hit or miss. [01:05:19] Speaker C: Yeah. Because you could. [01:05:20] Speaker A: I always like Chipotle chips. [01:05:21] Speaker C: You sometimes get a good bag. [01:05:23] Speaker B: You sometimes get up, like, what the hell is this bag? [01:05:26] Speaker A: Why would you give me. [01:05:28] Speaker B: Yeah, like, there's soft chips. [01:05:31] Speaker C: I don't get it. [01:05:32] Speaker B: No. [01:05:33] Speaker A: You want hard chips, or do you want those crispy chips? [01:05:35] Speaker C: You want the crispy ones? You want the crispy one with all the salt on it. It's got, like, all the bags worth of salt on one chip. [01:05:41] Speaker A: I love it when it's covered in salt and there's, like, five chips stuck together. [01:05:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:05:45] Speaker C: So Wanda. Wanda is on a high salt diet because she has low blood pressure. And so whenever we go to Chipotle, we split the bag for the ones with the visible salt she gets and all the rest of them. [01:06:02] Speaker B: Used to be. [01:06:03] Speaker C: It used to be she would get most of the chips in the bag, but as time goes on, they put less and less salt on the bag, so she gets fewer and fewer chips, which sucks for her. It's good for me because I get. [01:06:14] Speaker B: Lots of chips, but start putting more. [01:06:17] Speaker C: Salt back on your chips, Chipotle. [01:06:19] Speaker B: Geez. [01:06:20] Speaker A: Come on. Give the people what they want. [01:06:22] Speaker C: Give them. So Averon has returned to say that Coliostra has returned, and he's filling his. [01:06:33] Speaker B: Daddy in on all the goings on in hell. He tells them about a couple of the realm leaders who have flipped to Coliostro. And we get Lyda from the 9th realm, who's got, like, horns and, like. [01:06:54] Speaker C: A Jlo level of slit dress there, man. [01:06:58] Speaker B: Yeah, it's wild. [01:06:59] Speaker C: And then we get, I like this guy. [01:07:05] Speaker A: I like him. [01:07:07] Speaker C: Did you ever play any of. [01:07:12] Speaker B: The. [01:07:12] Speaker C: Monkey island games when you were little? Yeah, he looks like the little skull companion that you pick up in curse of Monkey island. [01:07:20] Speaker B: Just. [01:07:21] Speaker A: Isn't it Murray? [01:07:22] Speaker C: Murray. Murray. I think his name is Murray. Just on a body. [01:07:27] Speaker B: It looks great. [01:07:29] Speaker A: Yeah, that was a great game. [01:07:30] Speaker C: That was a fun game, man. LeChuck is the pirate that you have to fight. [01:07:36] Speaker B: The fearsome pirate, le Chuck Guybrush threepood. [01:07:40] Speaker A: I wonder if the guys who wrote Pirates Caribbean played that game. [01:07:45] Speaker C: I don't know, probably. [01:07:46] Speaker A: I think there was a lawsuit at some point. [01:07:50] Speaker C: There was a scene with a chicken. [01:07:52] Speaker B: Floating on a box, wasn't there? [01:07:56] Speaker A: The amount of stuff that is taken from, if you look it up, Pirates of the Caribbean and Curse of Monkey island is like staggering. And evidently those guys try to get a curse of Monkey island movie off the ground before they wrote Pirates of the Caribbean. So there you go. [01:08:13] Speaker B: Man, I would love a curse of. [01:08:15] Speaker C: Monkey island movie because if they get a curse of Monkey island movie made, then they'd probably make a grim fandango. Oh, grim Fandango movie. It might be actually easier to just start with the grim Fandango. [01:08:27] Speaker B: Fuck. They should make a grim fandango movie. [01:08:29] Speaker C: That just like a little 30s noir. [01:08:36] Speaker B: In the afterlife, the land of the dead, you got the Manny Calavera, a. [01:08:43] Speaker C: Grim reaper who when he goes to work in a suit and a tie, and then when he has to actually do stuff, we'll put on the cloak. [01:08:52] Speaker B: Eventually becomes like, man, that game's great. [01:08:54] Speaker A: I should play that again. [01:08:55] Speaker B: Yeah, we all should. [01:08:58] Speaker C: That should be a Malbolge Monday. [01:09:01] Speaker A: I think I might own it on Xbox. Let me check. [01:09:04] Speaker B: Nice. [01:09:05] Speaker C: So yeah, cataclysm is talking to Averon being like, yeah. [01:09:12] Speaker A: Zerna, that fucking piece of shit. [01:09:14] Speaker C: Those two suck. He's not wrong for doing that. And then we learn that he spills the beans about barbarous. We also get. [01:09:30] Speaker B: What if they uncover. [01:09:31] Speaker C: The real truth about the throne, which. [01:09:33] Speaker B: In 333 we get what? [01:09:35] Speaker C: The truth. [01:09:36] Speaker A: We know what's going on there. [01:09:37] Speaker C: Yeah, but so we get a nice little peppering in there and then back to Al and Corvox and haunt. And we learned that Corvox is like an old school explorer who thinks that if he visits every afterlife, he won't get stuck in just one of them. [01:09:58] Speaker A: I love that. [01:09:59] Speaker B: Which honestly, if I had the power. [01:10:04] Speaker C: That would be me too. It'd be like, I don't want to be stuck in this afterlife. I want to see all of them. [01:10:08] Speaker B: I want to have research. [01:10:10] Speaker C: I want to have so many fucking choices that I can't make up my mind and then I'm not forced to be stuck in one spot. That's a motivation I can get behind. This dude kicks ass. I like how ghost haunts, just like the brother. So we learned that during this mission, Corvox had a whole bunch of bunnies. [01:10:39] Speaker B: Or like he had met up with. [01:10:41] Speaker C: A whole bunch of spies from hell and Greenworld. And then the dead zones closed. And Corvox is the last one remaining. [01:10:48] Speaker B: Of all those spies because there's a. [01:10:50] Speaker C: New breed of angels called purifiers who went through and took out all of the Greenworld and hell agents. [01:10:58] Speaker B: Yep. [01:10:58] Speaker A: We see them cutting up some old school angels. Yeah, like Redeemer looking angels. [01:11:03] Speaker C: It's a real cool little flashback. Just one. [01:11:07] Speaker B: Great. It's great. [01:11:09] Speaker A: Then their leaders rapture a. [01:11:12] Speaker B: They get. [01:11:13] Speaker C: Speaking of Star Trek, Johnny, they got a teleporter. So they're going to beam on over to where they got to go because this team of spies were trying to find ways around the dead zones being closed. [01:11:28] Speaker B: But they found that while they couldn't. [01:11:31] Speaker C: Get between the realms, they were able to hack into heaven's internal courier system. [01:11:42] Speaker B: Right. [01:11:43] Speaker A: They can jump around heaven. [01:11:46] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:11:46] Speaker B: So it's kind of like a Star. [01:11:49] Speaker C: Trek teleporter or like a Stargate heaven. [01:11:54] Speaker B: It's the new show that they're trying. [01:11:57] Speaker C: To bring back Sci-Fi and they're like, why don't we just bring Stargate back so they can do. [01:12:04] Speaker A: There's a. According to the commercials on the Godzilla channel, there's definitely a Stargate Pluto tv channel. I swear to God, every commercial break. [01:12:14] Speaker B: It was a Stargate commercial and then a commercial for Paramount Plus. [01:12:21] Speaker C: I saw Paramount plus and charmed. There's like, a charmed. [01:12:24] Speaker A: There's a charmed. Bunch of charmed commercials. [01:12:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:12:27] Speaker A: I started thinking, I was like, maybe I should get into Charmed. [01:12:30] Speaker C: Wanda used to watch Charmed and she saw these commercials and she was like, I really watched that. [01:12:37] Speaker A: Yeah, it looks pretty goofy. [01:12:39] Speaker C: It looks rough. It looks rough. 90s tv, man. Rough, rough stuff. [01:12:45] Speaker A: That new Godzilla looks cool, though. [01:12:47] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [01:12:49] Speaker C: That Godzilla channel is awesome. [01:12:53] Speaker A: There's a new, new Godzilla coming out. [01:12:55] Speaker C: Oh, no, I didn't see that one. [01:12:59] Speaker A: The new Godzilla, the one that was in, like, Shin Godzilla. And then the one that's coming out, it's called Godzilla minus one. He was the name of the movie. [01:13:09] Speaker B: He looks terrifying. Nice, because just like, so, like, I. [01:13:14] Speaker A: Don'T know, the special effects are so much. [01:13:15] Speaker B: I love Godzilla. [01:13:16] Speaker A: I've been watching those Godzilla movies. I watch Mothra. [01:13:19] Speaker B: I watch one with, like, a big crab man. [01:13:22] Speaker A: I watched one where he was fighting King Ghidorah and Rodon at the end. It was hilarious. [01:13:27] Speaker C: Yeah. I saw a meme of Godzilla at the end of every movie where it's two guys just, like, fist bumped as a waterfall walks into a lake. And then immediately after that saw a. [01:13:40] Speaker B: Godzilla movie where Godzilla is just like. [01:13:43] Speaker C: I guess I can go now. And just, like, slowly walks into the sea. And it's just this dude in a big rubber suit just walking out into the water. And the guys, like, the scientists are. [01:13:54] Speaker B: Just, like, staring at him being like. [01:13:57] Speaker A: You got to imagine what it's like is after they finish filming it because the guy's like, how super heavy. It's got to be insanely heavy in the water. [01:14:05] Speaker C: Oh, man. The one that I liked most of the ones I've seen so far was Godzilla versus Hetera. [01:14:15] Speaker B: And he's a pollution monster from space. [01:14:19] Speaker C: And he feeds on pollution. And he has, like, that's cool. He's like a Pokemon and has evolutions throughout the movie. So he starts out as kind of like a little bitty squid guy. [01:14:29] Speaker B: And then he turns into a horseshoe. [01:14:32] Speaker C: Crab type guy who flies around, and then he turns into, like, a Cthulhu. [01:14:37] Speaker A: Oh, nice. [01:14:39] Speaker B: It's great. [01:14:41] Speaker C: You should watch Godzilla versus Hetera. At one point, there's this hippie commune where they're talking about, like, we got to take care of the planet. We got to keep the world clean and stuff. And then later on, this pollution monster. [01:15:00] Speaker B: Just decimates them, kills them all. [01:15:02] Speaker C: He just destroys the hippie commune. And it's like, holy shit. He's trying to get rid of the competition. [01:15:10] Speaker B: He's like, no, more pollution. [01:15:11] Speaker C: More pollution. Speaking of, speaking of climate and that stuff, this movie was made in 1971, and it's a literal personification of pollution destroying the planet. [01:15:28] Speaker B: And. [01:15:28] Speaker C: Come on, guys, we haven't gotten far enough since then. We haven't gotten far enough since then. [01:15:33] Speaker B: Godzilla got woke. Godzilla got woke. [01:15:38] Speaker A: Woke. Godzilla movies ruining my life. No, that's the shows us. We should have been watching more godzilla because we would have saved the world. [01:15:46] Speaker C: That shit's so good. So now we're in one of the labs in heaven, and then there's another bright light. And spawn and Corvox just come off the platform and just start killing. The scientists just left. And Corvox punches this one alien in the head to kill him. And his glasses fly off. Oh, man. [01:16:09] Speaker B: He's got, like, Arnold from heaven glasses. [01:16:14] Speaker C: From magic school bus. Glasses on. [01:16:17] Speaker A: I know you get your glasses, angel. So rapture's waiting with all his troops. They're waiting for the dead zones to open. They're just like, chilling there. [01:16:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:16:28] Speaker C: We get a little follow up on the last time where he was excited and they invasion forces. [01:16:37] Speaker B: Right? [01:16:37] Speaker A: Because we were wondering last time why he wasn't going after spawn. He was like, really super happy and. [01:16:41] Speaker B: Like, great, let's go over here. [01:16:43] Speaker A: And it's like, why is he doing that? Because they're going to invade hell. [01:16:45] Speaker B: Yeah. And then we get our pundit page with the dead zones opening has caused havoc just everywhere. [01:17:00] Speaker A: CRN is just kind of given the facts. The twelve to 13 sites over the. [01:17:04] Speaker C: Globe are opening up the info. [01:17:07] Speaker B: Buz guy is giving some of the. [01:17:11] Speaker C: Facts, and then over half of his presentation is devoted to being like, hey, this guy we had on said some bullshit. We're sorry about that. [01:17:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:17:19] Speaker A: He's like an apology. He's like, yeah. He said some crazy divine judgment shit. [01:17:23] Speaker C: Yeah. And then we got brock the shock. [01:17:25] Speaker B: Down there with our opening quote. [01:17:33] Speaker C: Just brock the shock fiddling around. [01:17:37] Speaker B: Hoax. [01:17:37] Speaker A: It says hoax wrong. [01:17:45] Speaker C: Oh, boy. Oh, boy. [01:17:47] Speaker B: And then we go to the tower. [01:17:49] Speaker C: Of screams, which is a different tower in hell. [01:17:54] Speaker B: You. [01:17:55] Speaker A: There's a lot of towers in hell. [01:17:57] Speaker C: They got lots of trenches. Lots of towers. The two t's. [01:18:03] Speaker A: Trenches, everyone. [01:18:04] Speaker B: You know what? [01:18:05] Speaker A: If you're a person, you got a. [01:18:06] Speaker B: Hole or a pole. [01:18:08] Speaker A: You got a trench or a tower. In hell, everyone's got a hole or a pole, David. [01:18:12] Speaker B: God damn it, Johnny. [01:18:16] Speaker C: My mother listens to that. Mine, too. So sin's having himself a little meeting with Lord Vantus, viceroy of the third realm that Barbatos had set up. And while they're discussing whether they should just get right down to the matter or have some lunch, Averon busts in and says, hell already has its king. And then immediately he kills Lord Vantus and starts threatening sin, saying, dude, you're in the wrong. We're going to quit this campaign you got going. Sin's like, hey, you know what? If your father were really worried, he would have come himself, not sent you. [01:19:13] Speaker A: And everyone's like, whoa, he's cowering all the demons. [01:19:16] Speaker C: Yeah, everybody's just. Even cataclys is like, did you really just say that? I guess in hell. That's a hot take, Johnny. Sin with the hot takes. [01:19:30] Speaker B: Sin is hot taken. [01:19:32] Speaker A: And then, so basically he's like, don't worry. You all make sure you never bother my father. [01:19:39] Speaker C: Necroplasm meter. [01:19:41] Speaker B: 1738. [01:19:43] Speaker A: All right, respectable. [01:19:44] Speaker B: Nice. [01:19:45] Speaker C: Nice. We got spawning grounds presents the mailbag. [01:19:49] Speaker A: Tanner says he likes the design of cataclysm, or a mixture of Darth maul and Drax the Destroyer. And it makes it pretty accurate. [01:19:55] Speaker C: He lives on Mustafar. [01:19:58] Speaker A: He lives on Mustafar. That's where, as we know, Darth maul lives, David. [01:20:03] Speaker B: Read it in a, uh, yeah, Johnny. [01:20:08] Speaker C: Everything that I say about Star wars immediately becomes true. [01:20:11] Speaker B: Right? You're like George Lucas. [01:20:13] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. Somehow there's australian spaghetti in Star wars. [01:20:18] Speaker A: And Diet Coke, but, yeah. So Thomas is like, yep, he's cool. He'll be meeting soon. [01:20:25] Speaker B: What do we get, Johnny? What do we get? [01:20:29] Speaker C: Yeah, what do we get in that answer? [01:20:31] Speaker A: Oh, we get a Thomas's promises. [01:20:33] Speaker B: Yeah, we do a Thomas promise. [01:20:37] Speaker C: Real nice. [01:20:38] Speaker A: And then next letter is from a guy named two two six. So it must be a robot of some kind. [01:20:44] Speaker B: Robot. [01:20:47] Speaker A: And he made this. [01:20:49] Speaker B: Cool. [01:20:49] Speaker C: It's a little miniature for a tabletop game of a blue suit spawn, which, fun fact, spawn hunter just found a couple of blue suit spawn figures. And a blue suit spawn cover from. [01:21:08] Speaker B: Japan that he shared on instagram. [01:21:11] Speaker C: And it was real cool. [01:21:12] Speaker B: Look into it. [01:21:13] Speaker C: Blue suit spawn is awesome. [01:21:14] Speaker B: It. [01:21:16] Speaker A: Well, this is interesting to me, because he says they have to on the miniatures. You can't really do black. Because it'd be really hard to see. So you usually have to have a little bit of blue in there. Yeah, I never thought about that. Makes sense. [01:21:25] Speaker C: You lose a lot of the definition. [01:21:27] Speaker B: If you paint it all black. [01:21:29] Speaker C: Because the way you get the definition on these is you paint the body, you let it dry, and then you cover it with this. It's like a real loose, watercolor type black. That the pigment will settle in the creases. And give you some shade and some definition. And you just can't really do that with black. [01:21:51] Speaker A: That's cool. [01:21:52] Speaker B: That's awesome. [01:21:53] Speaker A: Little thing with a little mini comic and everything. That's great. [01:21:56] Speaker B: It's incredible. [01:21:58] Speaker C: And then we get another tattoo. [01:22:01] Speaker B: That, boy, that's a big tattoo. Big tattoo. It's insane. It's a lot of ink. [01:22:08] Speaker A: That's wild. A lot of ink. [01:22:11] Speaker B: A lot of ink. [01:22:14] Speaker C: We need more spawns. Universe. Yes, please. Image classics. The advertisement for the toys on the back there is. [01:22:23] Speaker B: Hey, hey, I know that guy. Hey, it's monolith. [01:22:28] Speaker A: My old budy. He's been playing. He's playing Diablo in the other room right now. [01:22:32] Speaker B: He's grinding for you. Yeah, exactly. Thanks, buddy. Nice. Hell, yeah. [01:22:38] Speaker A: And that's 341. [01:22:40] Speaker B: 341. A lot of fun. Yeah. [01:22:43] Speaker C: It's such a good time. [01:22:45] Speaker B: Oh, man. Well, Johnny. [01:22:50] Speaker C: I think, unfortunately, we have to revisit 307. Because it's time to rate these puppies. [01:22:58] Speaker A: Woof, woof. It's time to rate the puppies. [01:23:01] Speaker C: I'm excited to rate one of these, but my unexcitment to rate the other one. Is just to bring it on average. [01:23:09] Speaker B: It's bringing me down. Don't bring me down. Spawn 307. [01:23:16] Speaker A: It will, man. So, spawn 307. [01:23:20] Speaker B: I don't know. [01:23:20] Speaker A: I'm going to give it one Billy Kincaid. Because I didn't understand what's happening. You kind of explained it to me. I get it a little more now. It's just such an OD way to get back. And once we get to 308, which I just read also. Oh, my God. It's such a breath of fresh air. But 307 just. It doubled down on the Raptor stuff that. The stuff I didn't like or didn't quite understand. Sorry. There's 300 fucking million issues of spawn. I can't like every single one. You know what I'm saying? Hey, give me a break here. [01:23:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:23:57] Speaker C: Hey, give you a break of your legs for not liking spawn more like it. [01:24:02] Speaker B: Oh. [01:24:02] Speaker A: One Billy Kincaid. One Billy Kincaid. [01:24:05] Speaker B: All right, I'm going to be a. [01:24:08] Speaker C: Little bit nicer than you. [01:24:11] Speaker B: And it's. [01:24:12] Speaker C: Going to be a little weird. This issue. Better than 306. [01:24:17] Speaker B: It is. [01:24:18] Speaker A: Okay, what did I give? 306? No, I can't change it. [01:24:23] Speaker B: No, you can't change it. [01:24:24] Speaker C: You said it. Better than 306. [01:24:27] Speaker B: However, even though it's better. [01:24:33] Speaker C: The way. [01:24:34] Speaker B: It'S put together makes it even harder. [01:24:38] Speaker C: To read than 306 was. So I'm going to give this. [01:24:41] Speaker A: I agree. [01:24:41] Speaker C: I'm going to give this one and a half wolves just hanging out in green world. [01:24:47] Speaker A: In the green world. Just, hey, what's up? [01:24:49] Speaker C: So 306 gets a higher score, but it's a less quality issue than this one. But this one doubles down on the confusing nonsense. I don't want to advocate for not reading spawn because you should read some. [01:25:02] Speaker B: Spawn, but fucking save this for when. [01:25:07] Speaker C: You'Re high off your ass on some painkillers after you get your wisdom teeth out or some shit. [01:25:12] Speaker B: Because it's not going to make sense anyway. So you might as well. [01:25:17] Speaker A: Might as well enjoy it. [01:25:18] Speaker C: You might as well at least be like, look at that. [01:25:21] Speaker B: Look at that arm cut off. [01:25:28] Speaker A: Next up, we have beautiful to look at. There it is. [01:25:30] Speaker C: A stinker. Get rid of that. Out of here. Throw it away. [01:25:33] Speaker A: Bye. [01:25:33] Speaker C: Right in the voice. [01:25:34] Speaker B: Bye. 341. [01:25:38] Speaker A: It's a continuation of this. Really awesome. Just kind of the momentum and, like, cutting in between this heaven and hell kind of arcs has been really great in the mainline spawn. [01:25:47] Speaker C: Yeah, I love it. It goes. [01:25:50] Speaker B: It goes. [01:25:51] Speaker A: And each one feels like a great entry. Like you're moving along. It's like a nice episode of a nice tv show. Like, perfect length. [01:25:59] Speaker B: I'm going to give it four glasses. [01:26:04] Speaker A: From that one scientist. [01:26:05] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:26:05] Speaker C: God damn it, Johnny. That's what I was going to give it too. [01:26:08] Speaker A: No, four glasses from that evil scientist. [01:26:12] Speaker C: There's no reason that we have to choose different things, Johnny. [01:26:15] Speaker B: We're both giving. [01:26:16] Speaker C: We can both give it four glasses. Punched off the face, four eyes. Oh, man. [01:26:21] Speaker B: It's absolutely. It's good, period. [01:26:28] Speaker C: But, like, coming off the back of 307, I was like, this is amazing. It's like, oh, man. They say bustin makes you feel good. Johnny. Reading a good spawn issue makes me feel good. [01:26:44] Speaker B: And I am feeling force at the glass. [01:26:49] Speaker A: Did I ever send you the picture of the Ghostbusters toy box set they made for the new movie? [01:26:54] Speaker C: I don't think you did. [01:26:56] Speaker A: So they made a box set of Ghost Egon and the young girl, Egon's granddaughter. The title of the box set on the box is the family that busts together. [01:27:08] Speaker C: No, you did tell me about. Yes, yes. And I remember being skeeved out when you told me about it. [01:27:15] Speaker A: I was like, guys, we didn't read that out loud once. The family that busts together. Come on. Because in the song, when he says busted makes me feel good, like, come on, give me a break. [01:27:26] Speaker C: Have you seen the remix of the song that it's just bustin'Bustin'Buston, busting, busting, busting, busting. [01:27:35] Speaker A: Yeah, I've seen that. [01:27:35] Speaker B: That's hilarious. [01:27:37] Speaker C: It's a superior version of the song. [01:27:39] Speaker B: I'm not going to lie. [01:27:40] Speaker A: Hey, fuck off. I love Ghostbusters. The song. [01:27:42] Speaker C: It's a good song, but Bustin Bustin Bustin Bustin gets stuck in your head. [01:27:46] Speaker B: Real feel good feel good feel good feel good oh, man. [01:27:56] Speaker A: Well, we have a special segment. [01:27:59] Speaker B: We're going to call it. [01:28:00] Speaker A: You know what, because I'm going to use the same song. We can call it Tod's toy talk, but it's basically. It's Tod's merch talk. [01:28:05] Speaker C: Yeah, it is. [01:28:07] Speaker A: So here we go for a Malbolgia merch madness. [01:28:22] Speaker C: The day this episode comes out is like smack dab in the middle of San Diego Comic Con this year, which. [01:28:30] Speaker A: Hope you're all having a happy comic. [01:28:31] Speaker C: Con if you're there, even though it's severely diminished due to the actors and writer strikes happening now. [01:28:40] Speaker A: Oh, right. [01:28:42] Speaker C: But the Todd father keeps sharing a whole bunch of exclusives going on at. [01:28:47] Speaker B: The image booth, and we want to. [01:28:50] Speaker C: Just discuss some of them. [01:28:51] Speaker B: So let's kind of pull up the picture here so that way I can see it. [01:28:56] Speaker C: He's having some appearances on July 20 and July 23. [01:29:01] Speaker B: He's signing with Jim Lee on the. [01:29:04] Speaker C: 20Th at the DC booth. So get your ass over there. [01:29:07] Speaker B: That's going to be a fantastic time. [01:29:09] Speaker C: And then he's doing a talk on. [01:29:14] Speaker B: The 23rd about says cover story panel. [01:29:19] Speaker C: He'll be there. [01:29:21] Speaker B: Becky Clooney will be there. [01:29:22] Speaker C: J. Scott Campbell will be there. Joe Casada will be there. I think they're being clever, and a lot of these people are cover artists. [01:29:29] Speaker B: So I think it's making a cover. [01:29:32] Speaker C: That tells a story is going to. [01:29:34] Speaker B: Be what that panel is about, which. Okay, that sounds excellent. [01:29:39] Speaker C: That sounds excellent. [01:29:40] Speaker B: It's going to be a good panel of people. [01:29:42] Speaker A: Good panel. [01:29:43] Speaker C: He posted some exclusives that they're going to have at the image booth. They've got some signed posters. [01:29:51] Speaker B: That's pretty cool. [01:29:52] Speaker C: Some limited spawn universe comics. Spawn, yeah. [01:29:58] Speaker A: You get a bundle. [01:29:58] Speaker C: Yeah, a bundle. It's got a couple of blank variants with gold titles. A puppeteer Lee version of spawn number one, which. [01:30:07] Speaker A: Now that fucking rules. [01:30:09] Speaker C: That beats so much ass. It looks great. [01:30:12] Speaker B: We all know. [01:30:13] Speaker A: Yeah, that rules. [01:30:13] Speaker C: We all know. Puppeteer Lee, fantastic artist. [01:30:18] Speaker A: Arguably why we're here, because that king, spawn number one, caught my eye so hardcore with that puppeteer Lee that I was like, what is that? [01:30:26] Speaker C: Yeah, they got some. [01:30:29] Speaker A: I wasn't like that. I was like, I liked that guy. I used to love Spawn. [01:30:32] Speaker B: Yeah. And then here we are. [01:30:34] Speaker C: Now they've got some modest deals on graphic novel bundles. [01:30:39] Speaker A: Yeah, they're like, okay, not worth going all the way there for money. [01:30:45] Speaker C: A little bit of money. No tax on these prices, too, is how it works. [01:30:49] Speaker B: So that also helps. [01:30:51] Speaker C: They got a signed. [01:30:53] Speaker A: Yeah, this is what I'm excited about. Go ahead. [01:30:55] Speaker B: The signed hot wheel Spawn mobile, which. [01:30:58] Speaker C: Oh, man, I was so excited when I saw that, and then I realized that's for a signed one. And if I had a hot wheel spawn mobile, I would take it out of the package, therefore ruining the fact that it's signed. So me, personally, I'm just going to jump on eBay and get one for cheaper so I can play with it, but still. Signed hot wheel spawnmobile. [01:31:18] Speaker B: Johnny. [01:31:19] Speaker C: My mom just brought up all my. [01:31:21] Speaker B: Old hot wheels a couple weeks ago. [01:31:24] Speaker C: When she came to visit, and I had so much fun just, like, looking at them all again and pushing them around and being like. And then gave them to a coworker who has two sons under the age of seven. [01:31:36] Speaker B: And, oh, man, he said that they. [01:31:40] Speaker C: Were so excited when he just plopped them down and they got to open them. [01:31:45] Speaker B: That's awesome. It's so, man, hot wheels kick ass. They're great. [01:31:50] Speaker A: I know you love the hot wheels. I love the spawn bum bum. [01:31:54] Speaker C: The bum bum spawn bum bum yeah, those are from spawn kills everyone. [01:31:58] Speaker B: Little bum bums. [01:32:00] Speaker A: That's funny. [01:32:01] Speaker B: Yeah, they got some pins, orbs, pin available. Pins are cool. Need to get some pins. I want the pins and the shirts. [01:32:11] Speaker C: And then they got shirts. [01:32:13] Speaker B: We're spawn shirts. [01:32:15] Speaker C: T shirts with spawn on them, you guys. [01:32:17] Speaker A: Yeah. Remember I was complaining about how the Chicago comic c two e two. I couldn't find a damn spawn shirt? Well, look at this. [01:32:24] Speaker C: And it's a good deal. It's $27 each or two for 44. If you buy both of them, that's $22 a shirt. That's a good ass deal. For a t shirt these days, that's a great deal. [01:32:33] Speaker A: Like, a $25 t shirt is, like, standard or like 28 even. [01:32:36] Speaker C: Yeah, man, I remember when it was like $15 for like $15 was the expensive shirt. Those were the novelty shirts that you got at the store that had the long shirts that made it look like you were a sexy lady in a bikini or the one. [01:32:51] Speaker A: Or big John. Remember Big Johnson or whatever? Oh, God, big Johnson. My cousin had a ton of those. [01:32:58] Speaker C: We're probably going to get canceled for bringing this one up. But in Oklahoma in the late ninety s and early 2000s, big chit was good. Or was big. It was horribly racist caricature of a mexican man. [01:33:16] Speaker A: Oh, I forgot about. [01:33:21] Speaker C: Rooney. [01:33:22] Speaker A: I mean, even the big Johnson ones are yikes, too. They're all pretty yikes. [01:33:28] Speaker C: You know what they need to bring back Johnny? [01:33:31] Speaker B: They need to bring back big dog. [01:33:33] Speaker C: Shirts being fucking everywhere. I love a big dog. [01:33:36] Speaker A: Yeah, I have a big dog shirt. The lost bone. Jurassic bark is what I had. [01:33:42] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:33:43] Speaker C: So good. [01:33:43] Speaker A: It was a takeoff on lost World. Yeah, I would love to get any of that merch. So if you guys are going to comic Con, have fun. [01:33:52] Speaker B: I hope you enjoy it. [01:33:54] Speaker C: Let your boys know. If you're going to comic Con and have the ability to maybe get us. [01:34:00] Speaker A: Some shirts, we'll pay you back. [01:34:01] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah. [01:34:04] Speaker C: Hell, yeah. [01:34:05] Speaker B: Can't wait for Spawn Con. [01:34:07] Speaker A: I'll be getting my own spawn stuff. [01:34:09] Speaker B: I quit vaping. [01:34:10] Speaker A: So I have so much money to spend on Spawn. It'll be amazing. [01:34:13] Speaker C: Probably Spawn con will be filled with people who just loaded up on shirts at the image booth and then are selling them for $40 each at Spawn Con. No, there's going to be some resale upticks. [01:34:25] Speaker B: You know it. [01:34:26] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. Well, Spawn Hunter said there's also going to be some exclusive merch. [01:34:30] Speaker C: Oh, hell, yeah. [01:34:30] Speaker B: That'll be cool. Oh, man. [01:34:32] Speaker C: Spawn hunter is putting it together real nice. [01:34:35] Speaker B: He's sitting. [01:34:36] Speaker A: He's going to hide one of those coins around the cons. I'm going to go find one of those fucking challenge coins. I'm going to find. [01:34:44] Speaker B: To. [01:34:44] Speaker C: I wonder if he's going to geocache it make you do a little scavenger hunt for you. [01:34:49] Speaker B: That'd be fun, but yeah. [01:34:50] Speaker C: So those are the announced exclusives that they got for SDCC this year. [01:34:55] Speaker B: Spawn related. [01:34:56] Speaker A: And if you want to check it out, just go. Todd McFarland's Instagram. He's got it on there. [01:35:01] Speaker C: The first pinned post there. [01:35:03] Speaker A: While you're over there on Instagram checking out all the merch for SDCC, we want you to give a follow. We always like to do a shout out to one of our friends on Instagram. [01:35:14] Speaker B: And this one is, we'd like to. [01:35:16] Speaker A: Give a shout out to unfinished bread. Yeah, he does a lot of great art. Some spawns. [01:35:22] Speaker C: Some spawns. [01:35:23] Speaker A: Wolverine. [01:35:25] Speaker C: The very first thing he posted was some motherfucking godzilla. He's right up our alley. [01:35:34] Speaker B: Love some unfinished bread. Yeah. [01:35:37] Speaker A: So give unfinished bread a follow. They got a lot of cool spawn Batman stuff, too. Just all around fun account. Very supportive, dude. Yeah, make sure to give them some support. [01:35:45] Speaker C: We got ourselves some music. That's done by Brian. Brian is on Instagram. Brian is no longer at t. Brian Voiler. [01:35:53] Speaker B: Y'all. [01:35:54] Speaker A: Change his handle. Change it up. [01:35:57] Speaker C: You can't even search for it no more. He is now at Brian. Underscore voyals, underscore 27. We're going to put it in the notes. [01:36:09] Speaker B: We're not going to read how to spell it. [01:36:12] Speaker C: Sorry, Brian. [01:36:13] Speaker B: Okay. [01:36:13] Speaker C: But we'll make sure you can get there. Brian underscore voyals, underscore 27. [01:36:19] Speaker B: He does good shit. Yes. [01:36:22] Speaker A: Give him a follow and then give us a follow if you haven't. [01:36:26] Speaker B: We are at regarding spawn pod, posting. [01:36:30] Speaker A: Fun reels and pictures of our toys and pictures of us and pictures of you and pictures of everybody. [01:36:35] Speaker C: Yeah. Johnny does section called, a segment called Malbolge Mondays where he just talks about cool things in pop culture, whether they're spawn related or not. They've mostly all been hell related so far, so that's pretty kick ass. [01:36:52] Speaker A: Yes, they've all been fairly spawn adjacent. [01:36:59] Speaker C: I do a weekly recap of a quick sort of review of that week's books. [01:37:09] Speaker B: It's pretty. [01:37:10] Speaker A: Doing our pickups. Not too bad. [01:37:11] Speaker B: Yeah, it's pretty good. [01:37:13] Speaker A: And if you want to drop us a line, you can always hit us up at [email protected]. [01:37:19] Speaker B: Yes, indeed. And I'm going to ask my question. [01:37:24] Speaker A: This week is, are you going to comic Con? Did you see anything there? Did you go? Are you there right now? Where you're listening to this. Hit us up. Tell us about your comic con experience. Send us a picture of you and the Todd father. [01:37:37] Speaker B: We'd love to hear about it. [01:37:39] Speaker A: Regarding [email protected]. [01:37:41] Speaker C: If you see Thomas Healy at the bar, buy him a beer and a shot. [01:37:46] Speaker A: You know he likes it. So what are we going to read next week, David? [01:37:49] Speaker C: Next week we're going to be reading some issues of Spawn. Actually, no. No main titles at all, actually. So just a couple issues from Spawn's universe. I was going to say the names, but no. So we're going to have two issues. [01:38:06] Speaker B: Classic, contemporary, as you do. That's how we do it here. [01:38:11] Speaker C: Our classic is going to be king spawn number ten. [01:38:15] Speaker B: That is going to. [01:38:16] Speaker A: Ooh, that's the black and white one. [01:38:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:38:18] Speaker C: That is going to close the circle on our getting caught up on King Spawn. So we will no longer have. This will be the last classic king spawn we cover. Not that none of them will be classic. Just the last one we cover as. [01:38:32] Speaker B: A classic because all the rest are. [01:38:34] Speaker A: Going to be coming out. That's crazy. [01:38:35] Speaker C: And then our new one will be Gunslinger spawn number 20. [01:38:39] Speaker B: And if I'm remembering correctly, Johnny, this one is a fucking mess, but is absolutely a wonderful. [01:38:52] Speaker A: Is it the one with Dakota in the bathroom? It's awesome. [01:38:55] Speaker C: Yeah, don't give that away. They got to come to us for next. [01:39:00] Speaker B: Gunslinger spawn number 20 kicks so much ass. [01:39:05] Speaker C: I read it on the way home during a terrible traffic day. All of the train lines were down. [01:39:13] Speaker B: Traffic backed up everywhere. [01:39:16] Speaker C: Took me, like, an hour and a half to get home from the point that it should only take me 40. [01:39:21] Speaker B: Minutes to get home. [01:39:22] Speaker C: Luckily, I was able to read Gunslinger 20 on the way home on this day, and it made that trip so much better. [01:39:27] Speaker A: That's what Swan does. [01:39:28] Speaker C: That's what it does. [01:39:29] Speaker B: Makes the day a little better. [01:39:31] Speaker C: So that's what we're doing. [01:39:32] Speaker A: Great. That sounds awesome. [01:39:33] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:39:33] Speaker A: I love King Swan. I love gunslinger. [01:39:37] Speaker C: If you've been watching the instagrams, you'll know that challengers, Johnny's store, wanted shoppers from challengers to let people know what books they were digging. Johnny submitted a video for King Spawn, and I submitted a video for Gunslinger Spawn. [01:39:54] Speaker A: So you could submit a video for the scorched. [01:39:58] Speaker B: Yeah, or just spawn. [01:40:01] Speaker A: Or just spawn. [01:40:03] Speaker C: Or any of these miniseries that they got. They didn't say that it had to be an ongoing series. Yeah, we got all that covered. Don't forget to rate and subscribe and rate and tell your friends and family about us. I know they say no news is good news, but not when you rely on word of mouth to advertise. So get that news out there. Tell everybody you know. [01:40:25] Speaker A: Yeah. If you're a comic con and see some spawn people, spread the love. [01:40:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:40:29] Speaker C: Be like, hey, you like Spawn? These guys like Spawn. [01:40:32] Speaker A: And they should listen to them talk about. [01:40:34] Speaker C: Yeah, we have so far, four listens in China, Johnny. So we're worldwide. [01:40:41] Speaker A: Mr. Worldwide. All right. [01:40:43] Speaker B: I like that. [01:40:44] Speaker C: Maybe Pitbull even listens. I think we got some listens in Florida. [01:40:48] Speaker B: Pitbull. [01:40:49] Speaker C: Pit bull, if you listen to us, drop us a line at regarding [email protected]. [01:40:53] Speaker A: Please do. [01:40:54] Speaker C: Please. We'll figure out how to get you on the pod. [01:40:56] Speaker B: Pitbull is actually pretty fucking know. [01:41:00] Speaker C: Not just saying that to try to get Pitbull on the show, but there was apparently, like, a contest that Walmart put on for whoever did the most of something. Their hometown would get a free pit bull concert. And there was this troll online who wanted to send pit Bull to the. [01:41:21] Speaker B: Most isolated Walmart that exists. [01:41:25] Speaker C: And they ended up winning. And pit Bull was like, yeah, I'll fucking do it. And then he just went and he did a whole bunch of community service with them and just hung out with the 3000 people that lived in the little Alaska town that he got sent to. And, yeah, he seems like a real fucking cool dude. [01:41:44] Speaker A: That's awesome. [01:41:44] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, Johnny, I think that just leads me to say, may the scorch be with you. [01:41:50] Speaker A: And also with you, David. [01:41:52] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [01:41:53] Speaker A: Hell, yeah. It's really getting to be a scorcher in here, in this Chicago in July, in this closet that I record in, like, real. It's getting hot. How are you doing? [01:42:03] Speaker C: Oh, man. I am in a nice air conditioned room. [01:42:07] Speaker A: Oh, wow. Yeah, I'm just going to move this. Oh, my God. It's so hot that I touched 307. It just bursts into flame. [01:42:14] Speaker B: Oh, man. Wait. [01:42:15] Speaker A: What will I do? [01:42:16] Speaker C: Did you toy portal to Mustafar? [01:42:18] Speaker A: No, I'm throwing this thing in the toy portal. I'm saying goodbye to 307 forever. We're throwing in the toy portal. We're throwing it to Mustafar. We're saying goodbye. [01:42:26] Speaker C: It's somehow not going to melt in the lava. [01:42:30] Speaker A: No, it won't burn. This invincible totem from, like, Indiana Jones. It cannot burn. What is the problem? How do you burn it? [01:42:42] Speaker C: Send it back to Archimedes so he can make greek fire with it or some shit. [01:42:48] Speaker B: Spoiler alert. Sorry.
