[00:00:00] Speaker A: Look, I'm not holding my breath.
[00:00:02] Speaker B: We can't depend on these jackasses. That's why we all need to rally behind the truly focused patriots whose research.
[00:00:10] Speaker A: I talk about in my podcast.
[00:00:42] Speaker B: Good evening, and welcome to the Mal bulge. This is regarding Spawn, the world's best spawn podcast.
I am your co host, John Fisher.
[00:00:55] Speaker C: And I am your co host, David Williams. And, Johnny, I gotta say that that third pundit keeps. How does he keep getting access to your house? Did he, like, clone a key or something?
[00:01:09] Speaker A: You gotta.
[00:01:10] Speaker C: Since he's a demon, you should just, like, sprinkle some salt across your doorways and your windows. Maybe he'll stop breaking in.
[00:01:17] Speaker A: Jeez.
[00:01:18] Speaker B: Ever since I look okay, ever since.
[00:01:21] Speaker A: I got that toy pack and I.
[00:01:23] Speaker B: Opened the toy Nexus and all the toys have been alive and, like, coming in and out of my house, I found out overt kill is really a big fan of Oan and Newsmax. Overkill's, like, alt right, and he's been. I think he's been letting the pundit in. He's been turning, like, Pluto tv has been turning it to oan a lot. I don't know if he's summoning the third pundit, but, yeah, it's definitely overkill. I think clown might be helping him, but I'm gonna have to close this toy nexus at some point.
[00:01:54] Speaker C: He's probably got the remote, like, techno meshed into his skin. So it's like, you can't.
[00:01:58] Speaker B: He doesn't even need a remote. He just blinks. It's a nightmare, David.
[00:02:01] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[00:02:02] Speaker B: Well, I have barely left this closet because my house is taken over by, like, sentient, small soldier style spawn toys.
[00:02:09] Speaker C: But how so as long as they leave in Wanda alone, what do they do? They just, like, turn into toys when Wanda walks in. Like, toy story.
[00:02:17] Speaker B: Oh, they're all friends. They do the dishes and, like, do some other stuff. They just hate me.
[00:02:22] Speaker C: Oh, no. Oh, no. Johnny, you're gonna get replaced with.
[00:02:26] Speaker B: I know. By a bunch of toys.
It's like the opposite of toy Story. I get replaced by toys.
[00:02:33] Speaker C: Wanda's gonna be like, I don't even have to worry about doing the dishes.
[00:02:36] Speaker A: And I don't even have to tell.
[00:02:37] Speaker C: Him to do it. Oh, man.
[00:02:38] Speaker B: Cyborg does the dishes every day. I wish. I wish all my Spawn toys would come alive, and we could hang out. We could watch the last of us together, and we could talk about it like friends do.
Be exciting.
[00:02:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:52] Speaker B: Well, welcome, everybody.
[00:02:54] Speaker C: And then you could buy your little Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian and be like, hey, Pedro, how do you feel about your performance in this versus, you.
[00:03:01] Speaker A: Know, and he'll be like, what?
[00:03:04] Speaker C: That's not me. I always wear a helmet.
[00:03:07] Speaker B: He can bring me warm or bring me in cold any day.
[00:03:10] Speaker A: Yeah, but, yeah.
[00:03:12] Speaker B: Welcome, everybody.
[00:03:13] Speaker A: Welcome.
[00:03:13] Speaker B: This is Pedro Pascal talk. Because he's the man of the moment. No, this is Spawn talks Pedro Pascal. Who would he play in Spawn? He'd be a good Jason Wynn. After Wonder Woman 1984, he'd actually be a good Jason Wynn.
[00:03:26] Speaker C: He'd be an excellent villain.
[00:03:28] Speaker A: He was fun in that movie.
[00:03:29] Speaker B: He was really good in that one.
[00:03:31] Speaker C: I, like, just had a. I was just like, well, he would be twitch, naturally, and now I can't stop thinking about it.
[00:03:39] Speaker A: He would be really good twitch.
[00:03:40] Speaker C: He would be really good twitch.
[00:03:41] Speaker A: I mean, he's a great actor.
[00:03:43] Speaker B: He was kind of zany in that Nick Cage movie, the.
Oh, the unbearable weight of massive talent. Like, he's pretty zany in that, and it's pretty fun.
[00:03:53] Speaker C: I was just thinking we should try to get Nic cage in this picture.
[00:03:56] Speaker B: Oh, Nic cage in spawn. I mean, I malbolgia.
[00:04:00] Speaker C: Say what you will.
[00:04:01] Speaker B: Motion capture.
[00:04:03] Speaker C: He always brings it so.
[00:04:05] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:04:06] Speaker B: He's so good.
[00:04:06] Speaker C: Whether the material is good or not, he's gonna.
[00:04:09] Speaker A: He's gonna play it, man. Yeah. I mean, I talked about the other week.
[00:04:14] Speaker B: He's in that left behind movie.
[00:04:16] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:04:17] Speaker A: I.
[00:04:17] Speaker B: One of my favorite performances in modern movies was the color out of space.
[00:04:22] Speaker C: Oh, that was amazing. Yeah, it was.
[00:04:24] Speaker A: Love that one.
[00:04:25] Speaker B: He was Richard Stanley picture.
[00:04:28] Speaker C: We'd need to put him in something so he could go crazy. Like a la Mandy crazy.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: I mean, if he was a spawn character, I think he'd be. Mount Bolgia would be a good choice.
[00:04:39] Speaker C: It would be a good one.
[00:04:40] Speaker A: The curse.
[00:04:41] Speaker B: He'd be really good as the curse.
[00:04:42] Speaker C: Oh, he'd be an excellent curse.
[00:04:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:44] Speaker B: He'd be perfect for that.
[00:04:45] Speaker A: Yeah. He would sound his eyes out. Yeah.
[00:04:48] Speaker B: All right, we need Nick Cage's the curse. Let's put it out there in the universe. He's already playing Dracula, so let's do it.
Welcome, everybody.
[00:04:56] Speaker C: Yes. What?
[00:04:57] Speaker B: Welcome to recasting. Respawn.
[00:05:01] Speaker A: Just respawn.
[00:05:02] Speaker B: Regarding spawn, where each week we cover two issues from Spawn's universe.
[00:05:07] Speaker A: Uh, as always, as sometimes.
[00:05:11] Speaker B: Well, as I always say, we cover two issues at a time from spawns. Spawns universe. Unless we don't, which is not very often.
[00:05:19] Speaker C: It's only happened twice, I think.
[00:05:21] Speaker B: I know. I just have to say that because it's. I have to be 100% transparent, much like the third pundit. I gotta be 100% transparent with our listeners here, David.
[00:05:30] Speaker C: No, wait. It might have. Yeah, three times.
[00:05:31] Speaker A: Crap.
[00:05:32] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Okay, we've done three Batman, so it's at least three.
[00:05:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:05:36] Speaker B: Oh, and then didn't we do sponsor number ones?
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Oh, man. Oh.
[00:05:42] Speaker B: Oh, my God. We've done five number. We've done five one issues. We've lied to the people.
[00:05:46] Speaker C: And in our defense, those single classics. And new, except for when they aren't new.
[00:05:54] Speaker A: Shit.
[00:05:55] Speaker B: They're new except when they aren't new. And they're two, except for when they aren't too. Just remember that and you'll understand.
[00:06:00] Speaker C: Listen, listen. This is a free show. Be happy for the spawn we give you.
[00:06:10] Speaker B: So today we are covering scorch number.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: Four all the way back from the.
[00:06:15] Speaker B: Far off land of April 2022.
[00:06:19] Speaker C: Man. April 2020.
[00:06:20] Speaker B: That's the publishing, I believe. I think that means it probably came.
[00:06:23] Speaker A: Out February or March.
Yeah, probably.
[00:06:27] Speaker B: It's probably. We had it our hands in March, but sometimes the spawn ones are actually accurate. It depends. I remember the scorch had a couple. It was kind of like herky jerky getting started because it was delayed, and then there was a couple weeks, like, there's a little bit of delay between some of the issues, if I recall correctly.
[00:06:42] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't remember specifically which ones and how long the delay were, but I do remember there being some issues because I think it came out two months after it was supposed to the first time.
[00:06:54] Speaker A: Right. It was supposed to be November or.
[00:06:56] Speaker B: December, and it came out, like, end January ish. Anyway, so scorch number four from April 2022. And the newer issue, spawn, mainline spawn 336, all the way back from December 2022. So, you know, a little over a month ago. A month or two ago. Give you time to catch up, find it. You know, go spawn hunting for it, go on a spawn safari.
[00:07:22] Speaker C: It's just old enough that if anybody.
[00:07:25] Speaker A: Tried to order extra, just because, you.
[00:07:28] Speaker C: Know, Spawn's been moving lately, then you should be able to find some stuff.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: Yeah. These newer ones are usually still $2.99, even on eBay.
[00:07:36] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Unless it's.
[00:07:38] Speaker C: Unless it's like, you know, that one to 25, one to 50 variant or whatever, those ones, they almost immediately will mark up.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Yeah. And those.
[00:07:47] Speaker B: Some of those random back when the shortages, those random early king Spawn and.
[00:07:51] Speaker A: Gunslinger spawns are worth something, but most.
[00:07:54] Speaker B: Of them are just kind of keep the same price. Unless the COVID is, like, sought after.
We're not about price. We're about story and adventure and horror and action and just having masks and chains and capes, and that's what Spawn's about.
[00:08:10] Speaker C: Heavy on the chains. That's heavy.
[00:08:12] Speaker B: Heavy on the chains. We love a good chain, man.
[00:08:14] Speaker C: Any gag that you can shove chains.
[00:08:16] Speaker A: Into right there with it. I mean, we might as well jump.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: Right into it with a scorch number four here, because he wants to.
[00:08:25] Speaker C: That's completely up to you. I will let you guide the way.
[00:08:28] Speaker B: What else would you want to do?
[00:08:30] Speaker C: I don't know.
I'm always tired, so I could do with a nap. You want to just record us taking naps separately and then see what our ratings look like after?
[00:08:42] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll see.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: I mean, there are podcasts. There's probably podcasts where someone records themselves taking a nap.
[00:08:46] Speaker A: There was one that Wanda used to.
[00:08:49] Speaker B: Listen to where it was like, someone puts you to sleep.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:08:52] Speaker C: Joe Perra.
[00:08:53] Speaker B: Yes. Love Joe.
[00:08:55] Speaker A: So he.
[00:08:56] Speaker C: He just started a sleep podcast. I think it's Joe Perra talks you to sleep or something like that.
[00:09:03] Speaker A: Nice. Yeah.
[00:09:03] Speaker B: Cause there's a. There's a tv show. Joe Pera talks with you.
[00:09:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:09:07] Speaker C: I tried to make Wanda watch it, and she was like, what is this? I don't get it.
[00:09:10] Speaker A: And I was like, it's.
[00:09:12] Speaker C: What's not the love? It's charming.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: It's a midwestern charming man.
[00:09:16] Speaker A: It's hilarious.
[00:09:17] Speaker C: And he just, like, hangs out with his dog.
[00:09:20] Speaker A: It's great.
[00:09:21] Speaker B: I love that show. It's strangely sweet. The episode where he discovers Baba O'Reilly is one of my favorite episodes of television.
[00:09:30] Speaker C: He just calls it into the radio station over and over again.
[00:09:33] Speaker A: And they're like, you do know this.
[00:09:34] Speaker C: Song is 30 years old, right?
[00:09:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:09:36] Speaker C: You can just find it on the Internet.
[00:09:39] Speaker B: He's like, hello, sir. What is the name of the song and the artist? And he's like, look. The DJ's like, look, I don't want to get to know who's on first situation here. Write this down. The who? The who.
[00:09:51] Speaker C: I like how it goes to the city council meeting, and he just. He's just like, have you guys heard the song Baba O'Reilly by the who?
[00:09:58] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[00:09:58] Speaker C: He's reading at church.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: He's reading at church.
[00:10:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:02] Speaker B: Yeah, it's great. It's sweet. And then the church sings it with him. He would hate spawn. He would probably not like spawn. It's not his speed.
[00:10:08] Speaker A: No.
[00:10:08] Speaker C: It's not wholesome enough.
[00:10:10] Speaker A: It's not wholesome enough.
[00:10:10] Speaker B: It's a little too angry.
[00:10:13] Speaker C: He would be fascinated by the creation of any comic book. He would be like, aw. Like Mister Rogers style. He would show up and be like, this is fans.
[00:10:23] Speaker A: This is fantastic.
[00:10:25] Speaker B: I imagine what he'd do is he'd.
[00:10:27] Speaker A: Start, be like, this is a Michigan.
[00:10:28] Speaker B: Fur, perfect for making comic book paper.
And then he'd talk about how the tree became a comic book and, like.
[00:10:35] Speaker A: About art and stuff. And then you show songs, like, some.
[00:10:37] Speaker B: Of them are violent, but that's okay.
Love Jupera talks with you.
[00:10:43] Speaker C: Oh, one of my favorite jokes is it's, you know, you know, it's wholesome but deceptively pointed. And there's that one where he's, he's friends with the old black guy, and he's like, we're. We're testing. Imply implicit bias in the system by suing each other. And.
[00:11:00] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that's right. Just back and forth constantly.
Yeah, I forgot about that. Oh, man.
[00:11:07] Speaker A: God, I love that show. I have to rewatch it. It's great. It's great.
[00:11:12] Speaker B: No, I think our podcast would be okay to listen to you to fall asleep. But then when we get to the end, we always have a shocking ending. And then Brian's song, so you'd be jolted awake at the end of every episode.
[00:11:24] Speaker C: So, I don't know, we have those spikes in excitement that don't match to good sleeping.
[00:11:31] Speaker B: No, you want a good ASMR.
[00:11:34] Speaker C: But also, Johnny, we're talking about shit like scorch number four. How could you fall asleep with scorch number four around?
[00:11:40] Speaker A: This shit is so good.
[00:11:41] Speaker B: The thing, I mean, we're looking at it. We're starting it. Scores. Number four. I love this cover. I love Bjorn Behrens. I've said that before. One of my favorite.
[00:11:49] Speaker A: He does a 3d art. Yeah, yeah.
[00:11:51] Speaker C: That's what I have as well.
[00:11:52] Speaker B: It's so badass. He's staying on top of, like, someone.
[00:11:55] Speaker A: He just, like, gave him some soul.
[00:11:57] Speaker B: Crusher gas or something.
[00:11:59] Speaker A: Yeah. And he looks super cool.
I love Soulcrusher's design. It's really cool. Yeah, he's real fucking cool.
[00:12:06] Speaker B: He's got a great gun with, like.
[00:12:07] Speaker A: A giant bayonet on it that has.
[00:12:10] Speaker B: Like, a double sided blade.
[00:12:12] Speaker C: It's almost like they, they, they modeled this off of an action figure and just, like, pulled the gun off of a warhammer.
[00:12:22] Speaker B: I mean, that's miniature.
[00:12:23] Speaker C: And stuck it in his hand.
[00:12:24] Speaker B: I think that's the gun the action figure comes with.
[00:12:26] Speaker A: I'm, like, 99% sure it's a great action figure.
[00:12:30] Speaker B: It's one of my favorites, actually, it actually might be.
Well, I got Sam and twitch now. I think my favorites are Sam and twitch. Soul crusher and she.
[00:12:39] Speaker A: Spawn and the gunslinger. Spawn.
[00:12:41] Speaker B: All of them?
All of them.
[00:12:44] Speaker C: Saigor and the overt kill.
[00:12:45] Speaker B: Well, not overkill so much because he's alt right. But, you know, I'm gonna try to convert, turn him around.
[00:12:51] Speaker C: What about ol Abel, ol dark redeemer?
[00:12:54] Speaker A: Ol.
[00:12:55] Speaker B: Oh, well, he's gone up in value now. Like, I, you know, we're learning a little bit about him. I wish he had his helmet removable, so I could see that luscious hair.
[00:13:03] Speaker C: Yeah, I remember right before we, we started, you got me back into spawn, going to the shop and just, you know, like, one day looking at the, just the toys they had, and they had a shit ton of dark redeemers, and that's, like, the only toy they had. And I was like, who the hell is this guy?
So I guess. I guess he didn't move a lot then. But now that they're bringing him back into the story, he's probably gonna.
[00:13:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:27] Speaker B: Pick up.
[00:13:27] Speaker A: He's biblical.
[00:13:29] Speaker B: He's a character of biblical proportions.
[00:13:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:32] Speaker C: It's the number one best selling book of all time, I do believe.
[00:13:37] Speaker B: Yeah. Next, right above lord of the Rings. Right.
[00:13:41] Speaker C: For a couple years or a couple of months every once in a while.
[00:13:45] Speaker A: The best selling book in the country, spawns.
[00:13:49] Speaker C: Spawn's a good seller. We got two bestsellers, and we're smashing them together. We got Spawn and we got the Bible.
[00:13:54] Speaker A: The spawn of bestseller. It's, it's the, um, well, I mean.
[00:13:58] Speaker C: According to those interviews with, uh, those interviews with the Todd father, um, yeah, I'm, I'm not a numbers man.
[00:14:05] Speaker A: Well, sort of.
[00:14:06] Speaker B: There's some way to look up pot. There's some way to look up comics numbers, and one time I looked at it because I, like, it was one of those recommended articles.
[00:14:12] Speaker A: It was, like, comic sales of this.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: Month or something like that. King Swan was in, like, the top ten.
[00:14:17] Speaker A: Like, it was way up to nice.
[00:14:20] Speaker B: So I think he's telling the truth.
[00:14:22] Speaker A: I believe.
[00:14:22] Speaker B: I believe. I hashtag believe in the toddfather.
[00:14:25] Speaker C: I hashtag believe in the Todd father.
[00:14:27] Speaker A: Which brings me to his cover, because.
[00:14:29] Speaker B: I have a cover b with me as well, and is drawn by Todd McFarlane.
[00:14:34] Speaker C: I was gonna ask if he had the second cover.
[00:14:36] Speaker A: I sure do. Yeah.
[00:14:37] Speaker B: This is another one of the connecting covers.
[00:14:40] Speaker A: Oh, nice, nice.
[00:14:41] Speaker C: Who's on it? Who's prominent on this one?
[00:14:43] Speaker B: We've got spawn, the man himself.
We got alt right overkill abu.
He's not really. Alright, that's a bit. I'm sorry. Overkill. I mean, he does. He does try to like, kill Mark in this issue and breaks his cell phone in the next issue. So, I mean, come on, that's kind of a dick move.
[00:15:01] Speaker C: And I mean, you do make terrible, terrible poop. Poop jokes that you call puns but aren't puns. Come on, man.
[00:15:08] Speaker A: Yeah, he's.
[00:15:09] Speaker C: I know English is your. I know English is your second language, but calling poop green and now it's.
[00:15:16] Speaker B: Like his third language because he speaks.
[00:15:17] Speaker A: Like zombie English in the new issues.
[00:15:20] Speaker B: Cause he's come back to life.
[00:15:22] Speaker C: Calling poop green and gross is not a pun. That's just a description.
[00:15:28] Speaker B: So we've got spawn overkill, Jessica.
[00:15:32] Speaker A: And then we have a character that.
[00:15:36] Speaker B: I would deign to say was somebody that we just don't know who it is.
[00:15:39] Speaker A: But I know that because in the.
[00:15:43] Speaker B: Respawning grounds, this is not a character that has been introduced. Not in the regular spawning grounds. This is a character that has not been introduced.
[00:15:51] Speaker A: Because someone asked who it was.
[00:15:53] Speaker B: And Thomas Healy was like, hey, if you take a look at this alternate. Because someone was asking for more female characters. And he's like, look at this cover. There's an unintroduced character, so. And as of yet, we still haven't met him.
[00:16:04] Speaker C: Yeah, I know. Cause that was the same spawning grounds where they also said something about Sam and Twitch. And then I was like, johnny, they said that Sam and Twitch were on those interconnected covers. You gotta check it for me. You gotta check it for me.
[00:16:15] Speaker A: Oh, right.
[00:16:15] Speaker B: Cause you thought you were talking about Sam and twitch. It's like, no, it's just the lady that kind of looks like the wasp. She's got a chain around her and some skulls. So I imagine spawn adjacent. I'm thinking maybe Nyx.
[00:16:25] Speaker A: Maybe.
[00:16:26] Speaker C: Maybe. Could be.
[00:16:27] Speaker B: It looks like she's blonde. She's got, like, a ponytail.
[00:16:29] Speaker A: Nyx ain't blonde. I don't know. I don't know.
[00:16:33] Speaker C: I guess we will see. It's a.
[00:16:34] Speaker B: We shall find out.
[00:16:35] Speaker C: The year is early yet. And if we were to go by the spawning ground, responses in any way, shape or form, it's going to be a big year for spawn.
[00:16:46] Speaker B: So this scorched b cover, the Todd McFarlane one I've been talking about here. This is in that same line of.
In the style of Jim Lee. Like, when he signs it, it says Todd McFarlane.
[00:16:58] Speaker A: What does it say?
[00:16:59] Speaker B: It says, like, todd McFarlane and style of Jim Lee are like, inspired by Lee.
[00:17:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:03] Speaker C: Or like, after Lee.
[00:17:04] Speaker B: After Lee.
[00:17:05] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:06] Speaker B: Based off that one X Men cover.
[00:17:07] Speaker C: Uh, nice, nice.
[00:17:09] Speaker B: And it has, like, you know, a spawn milestone. 30 years of spawn. Fourth issue, a team is born. So, like, classic nineties style approved by the Image comics authority.
[00:17:20] Speaker A: So pretty fun.
[00:17:22] Speaker B: But yeah, that a cover with, uh.
[00:17:24] Speaker A: With, uh, soul crusher.
[00:17:25] Speaker B: It's pretty iconic to me.
[00:17:27] Speaker A: I love it. It's, it's great.
[00:17:28] Speaker C: It it's so good. Soul Crusher is such a good character. So speaking of, uh, Jim Lee's X Men, just real quick, before we get in here, I watched like an hour long documentary about the making of the X Men cartoon theme song. And it was fascinating.
[00:17:43] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:17:43] Speaker C: It was fascinating. So much work went into that thing.
[00:17:46] Speaker A: And it was still one of the.
[00:17:49] Speaker C: Greatest musical stings of all time.
[00:17:51] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
So iconic. Yeah.
[00:17:55] Speaker C: So now I need them to make one for the scorched. So that way I can have that in my head every time I pick up one of these comics.
[00:18:02] Speaker A: We need a good scorched theme.
[00:18:04] Speaker B: Let's ask Brian to write one.
[00:18:06] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:18:07] Speaker C: And then if they start a cartoon series off the scorch, we'll be like, hey, we know a guy that makes music for you.
[00:18:12] Speaker A: You can make an old theme.
[00:18:14] Speaker B: I'll have my dreams. If there was like a Saturday morning cartoon of the scorch for kids, I.
[00:18:18] Speaker A: Would watch the hell out of that.
[00:18:21] Speaker C: They'd probably have it at like 05:00 in the morning. So that way it's just too early for kids to wake up.
[00:18:26] Speaker B: There's just like those weird syndicated shows that would be on that early. And you're like, is this a real show? Cause sometimes you occasionally catch it. I remember when I was a kid, there was a Zorro cartoon that was on at five in the morning. And I'd like sometimes see it and be like, is this real nice?
[00:18:41] Speaker C: Ours was, it was infomercials up until six when cartoons started, and then infomercials at one after cartoons ended. And it's like, dang it. Or, or some of the channels would have, you know, like the Saturday matinee.
[00:18:55] Speaker A: Right?
[00:18:56] Speaker C: I watched many a Saturday matinee with my dad. Don't remember what any of them were, but I remember watching them.
[00:19:01] Speaker B: Much like reading spawn. I read a lot, but I don't remember them.
So yet again, in scorch number four, we have the script plot by Sean Lewis, with additional script by Todd McFarland. I have a theory about which line specifically was additional script art by the great.
[00:19:20] Speaker A: Steven Segovia.
[00:19:22] Speaker C: Excellent work as always, knocking it out of the park.
[00:19:26] Speaker B: Ulysses areola on colors.
[00:19:28] Speaker A: And, of course, Bjorn Baron's doing the COVID We got.
[00:19:33] Speaker C: We got a different letterer this time. We don't have old Tom O doing the letters for this, so it's. And world's design.
[00:19:39] Speaker B: I don't know if that's also. We keep calling him Thomas Neely. It's Healy. Are we saying it right?
[00:19:45] Speaker A: I think.
[00:19:45] Speaker C: I think we're saying it right.
[00:19:46] Speaker A: Okili. Okay, good.
[00:19:49] Speaker B: One time I said Neely, and now I'm freaked out.
[00:19:51] Speaker C: I think we've both said Neely before a couple of times, but I think we always average out to it being right most of the time.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: He's just been so supportive on instagram for us.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:01] Speaker B: Sharing us on the story and stuff.
[00:20:03] Speaker C: We don't want to get people's names wrong.
If we pronounce your name wrong, let us know.
[00:20:08] Speaker B:
[email protected].
[00:20:11] Speaker C: Baby toad McFarlane, if we pronounced your name wrong, please, the toad. Father. The toad.
[00:20:24] Speaker A: Your hellspawn is in another castle.
[00:20:27] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. Keo.
[00:20:28] Speaker A: Michael Key is doing toad in the movie. Oh.
[00:20:32] Speaker C: Jack Black is bowser.
[00:20:34] Speaker A: I know.
[00:20:35] Speaker B: Yeah. I think it's. Everyone was negative on it, but I.
[00:20:39] Speaker A: Think it looks fun. Yeah.
[00:20:41] Speaker C: It's just the Chris Pratt casting was so prominent and everything else about it is basically perfect.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: You know what?
[00:20:49] Speaker B: My nine year old nephew who's fucking obsessed with Mario.
[00:20:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:52] Speaker C: It'll be.
[00:20:52] Speaker B: He doesn't give a shit about Chris Pat being cast in. He's super excited, so I'm excited, too.
[00:20:57] Speaker C: Chris Pratt is fine. I know I give him a lot of shit about stuff, but he's definitely not the worst person in the world.
[00:21:04] Speaker A: I just.
[00:21:05] Speaker B: He's oversaturated. It's just one of those things. It's like a person I used to.
[00:21:09] Speaker A: Really, like, even, like, I loved and.
[00:21:12] Speaker B: Was, like, so excited when they were blown up with guardians in jurassic world.
[00:21:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:21:15] Speaker B: The thing it reminds me of most is Lin Manuel Miranda where Hollywood is. Drive something into the ground that I like to, where I'm just annoyed by it. And it's like, I liked this at.
[00:21:23] Speaker A: One point, but then you have Chris.
[00:21:25] Speaker B: Pratt in every movie or Lin Manuel Miranda write every song for every movie. I'm going to get tired of it.
[00:21:32] Speaker A: Yeah, that's true.
[00:21:33] Speaker C: Also, it reminds me a little of the Ben Stiller effect, where Ben Stiller has literally been the exact same character in everything he's ever played. And that's kind of how Chris Pratt is now is that he's the exact same person, regardless of how he's written. And that's, I mean, wonderfully cast.
[00:21:50] Speaker B: He's the Lego movie guy. He's just like, man, the man. Emmett, the Lego man. Like, that's what he is. He's just like, man, I am man.
[00:21:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:58] Speaker C: He's just. He's just a little plastic body that they clip different outfits on.
[00:22:02] Speaker A: And then he goes, I love the Lego movie.
[00:22:05] Speaker C: It's so good. And Lego Batman. Probably the best Batman movie it's good ever.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: I remember really liking it.
[00:22:12] Speaker A: I should watch it again.
[00:22:13] Speaker B: I saw it in theaters.
[00:22:14] Speaker C: It's real good.
[00:22:15] Speaker A: Well, for a while. But.
[00:22:16] Speaker B: Did you see this, David?
[00:22:17] Speaker A: What's that?
[00:22:19] Speaker B: James Gunn, one of the announced movies for first phase new DC's Batman the Brave and the bold, baby.
[00:22:24] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:24] Speaker C: Yeah, I saw that with Damian Wayne. Cause he likes that.
[00:22:28] Speaker A: Damian Wayne. I hope that it's probably not gonna.
[00:22:32] Speaker B: Be as goofy as the Batman, the brave and the bold that we know.
[00:22:35] Speaker C: It's not gonna have what's his face as Aquaman.
[00:22:39] Speaker B: Joe DiMaggio.
[00:22:40] Speaker C: Joe Dimaggio.
DiMaggio is baseball.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: John DiMaggio, we see you, John DiMaggio.
[00:22:46] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:22:49] Speaker B: So previously in scorched back to spawn, the team rescues the one and only reaper from the clutches of mutated angels. After the melee with a plague clone, they receive an offer from a new soul crusher they may not refuse.
Bum, bum, bum.
It ended with soul crusher injecting himself with the plague spawn and being like.
[00:23:14] Speaker A: Look, we gotta help each other. Yeah. And that was pretty much the end.
[00:23:18] Speaker B: Of the last issue.
[00:23:20] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:23:21] Speaker B: We open up a little first person, like, Terminator thing here.
[00:23:24] Speaker C: Yeah.
The funny thing about this, it says visual plaque spawns remains instead of plague spawn remains. And I was like, who the hell is plaque spawn?
[00:23:33] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:23:35] Speaker A: Oh, well, so it could be a.
[00:23:38] Speaker B: G. No, it's definitely a q. Plaque remains.
Well, maybe it's a plaque to spawn.
[00:23:45] Speaker A: Maybe.
[00:23:45] Speaker C: Maybe it's, like, plaque on your teeth, where it's just like, a thin layer of spawn remaining.
[00:23:52] Speaker B: I mean, he does have a tooth in his hand in the next panel, I think you cracked it there, David.
[00:23:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:56] Speaker C: Is that a tooth, or is it a bone? I don't know.
[00:23:58] Speaker A: That's a tooth, dude.
I don't know.
[00:24:02] Speaker B: Maybe it's a bone, I guess, because they are huge. So it's probably a bone.
[00:24:06] Speaker C: The problem is it looks like a. Like a chicken wing bone.
[00:24:10] Speaker A: It's a.
[00:24:10] Speaker C: It's a remnant. That's all we'll go with.
[00:24:12] Speaker B: So basically, we get this first person view of some kind of robot. He finds some remnant.
[00:24:16] Speaker A: Yeah, there's some.
[00:24:17] Speaker C: Some spawn goop. There's some blood, there's some.
[00:24:20] Speaker A: Some bones. There's some teeth.
And we get kind of a, like.
[00:24:26] Speaker C: A getting ready montage of. Of the. The sin devourer, you know, smashing these spawn remnants up and then hooking them into himself.
[00:24:35] Speaker A: I love this poc pok Poc. Like, this is great.
[00:24:39] Speaker B: Yeah, you can just, like, hear that. It's cool.
[00:24:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:24:43] Speaker C: And he's steaming all over the place. And then.
[00:24:46] Speaker A: And then we get a little heads.
[00:24:48] Speaker C: Up display of all the. Of all the active spawns that he's.
[00:24:52] Speaker A: Gotten good stuff from.
[00:24:54] Speaker C: So now he's got little pieces of all of them.
[00:24:58] Speaker A: Got Jessica.
[00:24:59] Speaker C: We got medieval. We got gunslinger. We got soul crusher. Not a spawn, but we got Albert. We got ye olde Redeemer.
[00:25:06] Speaker B: And he also wants to kill them.
[00:25:09] Speaker C: Yeah, look at that.
[00:25:10] Speaker A: Cool.
[00:25:10] Speaker B: Zoom in on his eyes.
[00:25:12] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: And they are called cindivauers. No one knows their exact number, but each has been sent on their own mission. This creature is one of their kind.
[00:25:22] Speaker A: It's unit unit 89.
[00:25:24] Speaker C: They should be making unit 89 action figures.
[00:25:26] Speaker B: Yeah, look at him and just, like, zoom. Like, I don't know. I love that great introduction. Just like, he's gearing up, and then you got this big, gnarly robot demon man.
[00:25:36] Speaker A: Yeah, it's great.
[00:25:39] Speaker C: In the nineties, they made those real big, like, gigantic sentinel action figures. They should do that with these guys.
[00:25:46] Speaker B: I mean, yeah, they're like, overt kill size. Make it a little bigger.
[00:25:50] Speaker C: They're bigger than overt kill, so, yeah, they would have to be like, if.
[00:25:53] Speaker B: It was the size of that violator they made. That thing's pretty beefy.
[00:25:56] Speaker A: And it's like, they can make it a little taller.
Yeah, man, that would be awesome.
[00:26:02] Speaker B: So basically, it's just setting up these soul crushers, which kind of take us through a lot of the next arc, a lot up until where we are now, almost till they're defeated in.
[00:26:10] Speaker A: What was that? Twelve.
[00:26:12] Speaker B: But it's setting up all these questions.
[00:26:14] Speaker A: Why do they want to leave Earth?
[00:26:16] Speaker B: Why they try to open a dead zone? What is their connection to soulcrusher himself?
[00:26:20] Speaker A: Hmm. Good questions.
[00:26:22] Speaker C: Good questions. All these good questions.
[00:26:24] Speaker B: All these good questions. Setting it up.
[00:26:26] Speaker A: Issue four.
[00:26:27] Speaker C: We flash back over to the group of everybody and their sort of argument stances. I don't remember. I don't remember soul crusher hitting Jessica at the end of the last issue.
[00:26:37] Speaker B: Shooting her. Shooting her with his big old cannon arm thing. No, he didn't. This is like skipping over something. So, basically, it's like in media res.
[00:26:46] Speaker A: That they evidently started arguing, which is.
[00:26:50] Speaker B: Want to happen when spawn shows up.
[00:26:52] Speaker A: You know, he's an easy guy to get along with. Al Simmons.
[00:26:56] Speaker C: Yeah, definitely affable. Most would say his amber is definitely the color of his energy.
[00:27:02] Speaker B: Basically, he's going to start zapping people because it's the only language that they understand. I imagine that's probably Spawn's fault, because Jessica's probably reasonable. I think it's kind of shitty that he shot Jessica, to be honest.
[00:27:12] Speaker A: I'm just saying that. Yeah, that's real shitty. Why do you do that?
[00:27:15] Speaker B: Even Natasha's pissed. Look at her. She's like, what the fuck?
[00:27:17] Speaker A: Why'd you shoot her? Yeah. And she was the one who was.
[00:27:20] Speaker C: Literally like, hey, put your guns down so we can talk. Come on.
[00:27:23] Speaker A: Come on, man. Yeah.
[00:27:25] Speaker C: What's going on?
[00:27:25] Speaker A: Sergey Spawn's piss.
[00:27:27] Speaker B: Cause he's familiar with the old soul crusher, who's an old villain of his. So he's like, oh, this guy's a villain. Don't piss around with his kind. I like that.
[00:27:35] Speaker C: Yeah, that's fun.
[00:27:38] Speaker A: Um, so, yeah, Al's just, you know.
[00:27:42] Speaker C: Smashing soul crusher against the wall, saying, this dude, he lies to get what he wants.
[00:27:48] Speaker A: And then, you know, we get some Sean Lewis.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: Javi.
[00:27:52] Speaker A: Classic.
[00:27:53] Speaker C: Classic Javi and Al button heads. Javi's like, let soul crusher go. And Al's like, but I don't wanna. And so Javi's like, well, I guess I'll make you see.
[00:28:04] Speaker B: Even here, you can kind of see the seeds of what happens with gunslinger in that newest issue with scorch. Cause, like, he just wants one thing, and they really haven't helped him at all. He's done a lot for that. So you understand where he's like, fuck it.
[00:28:13] Speaker A: I quit. He literally. Yeah. Oh, man.
[00:28:17] Speaker C: But, like, everybody. Everybody, like, soul crusher's like, hey, guys, I hate you, but we gotta do this. And they're just not helping him because he's soul crusher. Avi's like, hey, man, come on.
[00:28:25] Speaker A: We got fucking one.
[00:28:27] Speaker C: One job to do. Let's do it.
[00:28:28] Speaker A: And they're not doing it, man. Not a.
[00:28:31] Speaker C: Not a real functional team. They need to take some time out, do some team building exercises, maybe have.
[00:28:37] Speaker A: A couple of trust falls, you know.
[00:28:40] Speaker C: Spend a weekend at a ropes course. Gotta get this team motivated.
[00:28:44] Speaker A: I guess we know at this point.
[00:28:46] Speaker B: They already kind of fought a little.
[00:28:47] Speaker A: Bit, but because if we go back.
[00:28:51] Speaker B: Remember that Gunslinger took all took place before scorch number one.
[00:28:55] Speaker A: Yes, it did.
[00:28:56] Speaker B: Where they met up and fought.
[00:28:57] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:29:00] Speaker B: Second fight.
[00:29:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:01] Speaker C: At the end of the issue in which they fight in a dead zone, it actually says it's got the reed scorched number one.
[00:29:10] Speaker B: Right.
[00:29:10] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:29:11] Speaker B: Classic episode where I had to record in my living room because I had a houseguest and Wanda had to turn on the coffee, and it ruined the episode almost and probably unlistenable.
[00:29:21] Speaker C: There was breakfast in the background, and I was like, what is going on?
[00:29:23] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. It was the early days.
[00:29:26] Speaker C: And then we've got a bit of additional dialogue here, I do believe.
[00:29:29] Speaker A: Yes. So it says that they're about to.
[00:29:32] Speaker B: Find out about each other, that they are not just two sides of the same coin. They're actually the same side of the same coin. This was said in gunslinger at some point. I'm pretty sure it's around eight, nine, or ten.
[00:29:44] Speaker A: But it's just funny because I remember.
[00:29:47] Speaker B: Us talking about it. It's funny that the Todd father. This is the additional script. It has to be. Who would use that same thing twice?
[00:29:55] Speaker A: I love that.
[00:29:56] Speaker B: But, you know, they're just two sides of the same coin. The same side of the same damn coin, dude.
[00:30:00] Speaker C: The same friggin coin.
[00:30:03] Speaker A: It's like.
[00:30:03] Speaker B: It's like a two faced coin, but before he scratches up the other side.
[00:30:08] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:30:08] Speaker C: So it's like that double headed luck. It's like a coin that, like, when you flip it over, it, like. Like, you flip halfway over, it just, like, reverts itself back. Like it's poorly rendered in real life. So it's like, why can't I flip it? Why can't I flip it? Cause it's only got the one dimension, dude.
[00:30:28] Speaker A: So they're going at it, trying to.
[00:30:30] Speaker C: Figure out necroplasm being spilled left and right. Like, these dudes don't have it to spare. What the hell? Come on.
[00:30:37] Speaker B: I like how spawn's called the alpha dog. He puts on the display to reinforce who the alpha dog is.
[00:30:42] Speaker C: Yeah, I like. I like how there's mystique about Javi's hat. Cause it's as though he'll find that the hatless gunslinger isn't as weak as the spawn's been told. Almost like his. As if his power, the now hatless, his power resides in his hat.
[00:31:02] Speaker B: And Jessica finally coming in with some.
[00:31:03] Speaker A: Sense and just being like, yo, cut it out.
Yeah.
[00:31:07] Speaker C: And then soul crusher doing the classic. Just firing the gun in the air. I don't know how a fight between two spawns is not louder than a gunshot, but here we are.
[00:31:19] Speaker B: Hey, that's a big laser gun thing. It probably went like, pachoo.
[00:31:22] Speaker C: Yeah, but it said bang, not pachoo.
[00:31:25] Speaker A: Oh, you're right.
[00:31:25] Speaker C: Bang.
[00:31:26] Speaker A: Not for two.
It does say bang. Yeah.
[00:31:30] Speaker C: And then fucking Natasha's succumbing to this quill sick.
[00:31:34] Speaker B: The quill sickness. Yeah.
[00:31:36] Speaker C: Saying that this is what they were doing. So, you know, I've definitely, definitely had to deal with this already, and come on.
[00:31:43] Speaker A: We just gotta, just gotta do it. We gotta. We gotta go, go get it.
[00:31:48] Speaker C: And while Sergey's talking, medieval is just over there, you know, being a fucking mensch, man.
[00:31:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:55] Speaker C: Medieval is the man you want on your side.
He lived in a time of honor.
[00:32:01] Speaker A: And, you know, he says, honor is good. He's.
[00:32:04] Speaker C: He's the Klingon of the spawns, where.
[00:32:06] Speaker A: He does what's best for honor.
[00:32:11] Speaker B: I think this is the moment also, when spawns like, oh, this isn't the old soul crusher.
[00:32:16] Speaker A: Because he's like, yo, I killed that guy.
[00:32:18] Speaker B: I killed that bastard. Cause Spawn does see something in soul crusher eventually because he tests him with putting in purgatory instead of, like, killing him.
[00:32:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:32:27] Speaker C: But unfortunately, the. What makes Al trust Soul crusher is, like, the last straw for Sergey. And he's like, fuck this guy.
[00:32:37] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. I know.
[00:32:39] Speaker C: Come on, Al. You gotta do better. We love you.
[00:32:43] Speaker A: But.
[00:32:43] Speaker B: So medieval's using his druid powers, which is pretty cool. We don't see that super often, but that's really awesome. And it gets a little hint of his backstory that we already covered in that one issue in scorch number. Oh, I'd say nine or ten, where it does his backstory.
[00:32:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:32:59] Speaker C: Cause it's that little run there at the end of the single digits was a whole backstory on everybody.
[00:33:06] Speaker A: Right.
[00:33:06] Speaker B: It has established that he was a child, which they talk about in there.
[00:33:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:11] Speaker B: A child they tried to turn into a saint and ended up warping him and killing him.
[00:33:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:18] Speaker C: Meddling with children. Not a good idea. And then also reapers over there, just, like, chilling in the background. Comes out of nowhere, and he's like, she'll live.
[00:33:26] Speaker A: She'll be fine.
[00:33:28] Speaker C: Let me. And then he's like, let me give you some knowledge. And I love this stained window effect behind him.
[00:33:36] Speaker B: I like how he's just like, look.
[00:33:38] Speaker A: And he's just like.
[00:33:39] Speaker B: Says all this stuff, lays it out.
[00:33:41] Speaker A: You got one.
[00:33:41] Speaker B: Stained glass is like, the vials of heaven and hell. Necro energy.
[00:33:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:47] Speaker B: You've got king spawn over an army of, like, psalms people.
[00:33:50] Speaker C: Kind of, probably supernatural super superhero syndrome. Super soldier syndrome serum. Libba dubba. Tha ba ba ba. Is what we.
[00:33:59] Speaker A: Huh? Are you okay?
[00:34:00] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:34:01] Speaker A: Well, no.
[00:34:01] Speaker C: Cause he's explaining that the spawn and the antispawn juices, and it's basically like supernatural super soldier serum.
[00:34:09] Speaker A: Like what they gave.
[00:34:10] Speaker B: Easy to say.
Supernatural super soldier serum.
[00:34:13] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[00:34:15] Speaker C: See, I don't know why you're having.
[00:34:17] Speaker B: Super soldier super soldier dish.
[00:34:19] Speaker C: I did it. I did it perfectly the first time. Johnny, I have no idea why you're having such trouble saying.
[00:34:24] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. You know, I never have trouble saying words on a podcast. You know, that's something that I never do.
[00:34:29] Speaker C: Definitely.
[00:34:30] Speaker A: So.
[00:34:31] Speaker C: So get off my dick about it, man. Come on.
[00:34:37] Speaker B: He's just like, a war is coming.
[00:34:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I like the king spawn stained glass with the little crown above his head. Then we got the silhouette of the sin devourer.
[00:34:48] Speaker B: And then, like, the apostles there.
[00:34:50] Speaker C: Yeah.
The profiles of all the people who.
[00:34:54] Speaker A: Were gonna fight in the war. Real fun. The coming war.
[00:35:00] Speaker C: Spawn versus spawn. Some of us will become traitors.
[00:35:04] Speaker B: And Redeemer says, not one.
[00:35:06] Speaker A: Not some.
[00:35:07] Speaker B: Just one.
[00:35:08] Speaker C: That's all it takes.
[00:35:09] Speaker A: Only one. Arnold.
[00:35:11] Speaker B: This hasn't really come to fruition, has it?
[00:35:14] Speaker A: Yeah, no, they're still.
[00:35:15] Speaker C: They're still trying to figure out who it's gonna be, so I think it will be somebody. There's a lot of pointing toward Javi, because Javi's a hothead.
[00:35:23] Speaker A: It's not gonna be Javi.
[00:35:24] Speaker C: It's not gonna be Javi. No, Javi doesn't.
Javi doesn't give a shit about these people enough to betray them.
I think it'll be, like, an unwilling or, like, somebody will who is, like, vehemently. I gotta figure out who the traitor is, will then get sort of a devil's bargain where.
[00:35:45] Speaker A: I mean, if you don't do this.
[00:35:47] Speaker C: Look at all this terror, terrible stuff you're gonna. You're gonna cause.
[00:35:52] Speaker A: So.
[00:35:53] Speaker C: And Jessica definitely has.
[00:35:55] Speaker B: Can you just tell us who it is? Dude, come on. Give me a break.
[00:35:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:36:00] Speaker C: Jessica definitely has the most baggage that could be used against her. So I think they want us to maybe think that it could be Jessica, but Jessica's always looking for a way to do what's best with the least amount of damage. So I think Jessica would be able to find a way out of it.
[00:36:15] Speaker B: Yeah, medieval spawn's got what I'm saying. He's going, yo, what's up. Stop your vagueness.
[00:36:21] Speaker A: Just tell us. Yeah, point him out, and I will.
[00:36:26] Speaker C: Point him out, and I will strike him down.
[00:36:29] Speaker B: Javi does not like that. Pulls a gun on medieval and is like, oh, yeah, it's a minority report. It's the minority report conundrum, you know?
[00:36:39] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:36:40] Speaker B: If you stop the pre crime.
[00:36:42] Speaker A: Did the crime ever take place? It didn't.
[00:36:45] Speaker C: You could still get pregnant from pre crime, though, Johnny.
[00:36:47] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
Good night, everybody.
[00:36:55] Speaker C: Oh, I choked on my coffee. Sorry about that.
[00:36:59] Speaker B: And Javi's like, we're all innocent, but Spawn's like, no, no, no.
[00:37:02] Speaker A: We're all guilty. Yeah.
[00:37:04] Speaker C: You know, he's saying, hey, we all have done some shit. None of us is clean. Basically. That's kind of part of being a spawn.
And then a sin devourer comes upon them, and they're. I love the isolated mountain fortress.
[00:37:24] Speaker A: So good. I'm trying to find it.
[00:37:26] Speaker B: Someone says shit in this issue because I wrote it down. Because I was like, what? They can say shit? I thought they didn't say shit.
[00:37:31] Speaker C: Uh, spa or, uh, Mark says it in the next issue.
[00:37:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I know.
[00:37:35] Speaker B: I guess they do some. I guess they don't block out shit anymore. I guess.
[00:37:37] Speaker A: That was just, uh, back in the nineties. We've covered.
[00:37:41] Speaker C: We've covered a couple of them that. That say shit in them.
[00:37:44] Speaker B: They don't say fuck, though, right?
[00:37:45] Speaker C: No, they still have a grawlix in.
[00:37:48] Speaker A: For the u, usually. Wow.
[00:37:50] Speaker B: Well, they're a lot better than us.
[00:37:54] Speaker C: I should probably be better about that.
[00:37:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:57] Speaker B: My favorite was going home for Christmas, and my dad was curious about the podcast and turned it on, and immediately it was just like, fucking. Goddamn.
[00:38:05] Speaker A: Fuck. I was like, oh, no.
[00:38:09] Speaker B: And I just, like, grabbed his arm, like, I'm so sorry. They know. They've seen my plays that I've written. They know.
[00:38:14] Speaker A: They know.
[00:38:16] Speaker C: Papa, can you hear me? Yes, I can. And you need to watch your language.
[00:38:20] Speaker B: You need to get some wash out your mouth, son.
I remember before they saw my first play. It'll stop making sense in Stillwater. They came up to me, and my.
[00:38:30] Speaker A: Mom was like, we need to talk.
[00:38:31] Speaker B: About drugs, I guess. And I was like, no, it's a play, mom. I don't smoke weed. It's all just a play.
Hi, mom.
[00:38:38] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:38:38] Speaker C: It's like our parents are c three po and we're r thing we say after not seeing them for decades. It's not foul. Yeah, I know, but, yeah, so we get this cindeavour just busting in and shooting some fire and the scorched will be hunted. And a Judas lies within their midst.
[00:39:00] Speaker A: So.
[00:39:01] Speaker C: And we end on this just. It's like a fire breathing dragon. It's like a Godzilla pose that we end on. It's so good.
[00:39:09] Speaker B: Great, exciting ending.
[00:39:10] Speaker A: Bom, bom bom. Yeah.
[00:39:12] Speaker C: Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion of Cinderva.
[00:39:16] Speaker B: I love how pulpy it is. Yeah, Sean, Luke's really good at that stuff. It's cool.
[00:39:20] Speaker C: It's so fun.
[00:39:21] Speaker B: It's fun that you write supposed Kingspawn in this. I've said that before, but it's nice how, like, different they are and how much fun that must be. Like I said, like, you're in a dark, brooding mood. You write some king spawn. You're having, like, you're all hyped up on coffee, and you're banging your figures together. You write some scorched.
Gotta be a good time.
[00:39:38] Speaker C: Yeah, well, the spawning grounds this time is a requests for art. So if you're on your social medias and you hashtag span span faun.
[00:39:46] Speaker A: Art span fanart.
[00:39:49] Speaker C: Spawn fan.
[00:39:50] Speaker A: Art.
[00:39:52] Speaker B: Span fan. I'm a span fan, baby.
[00:39:55] Speaker C: No, a span fawn. So.
[00:39:56] Speaker B: Oh, I'm a span. Well, I am a span fawn. I'm a young spawn fan.
I'm a span fawn. Oh, did I tell you that Logan coined that term when he was talking about how he wants to get into gunslinger? He said, oh, I guess I'm your first spawnvert.
[00:40:11] Speaker A: So.
[00:40:12] Speaker C: Oh, nice, nice.
[00:40:13] Speaker B: Comes to the podcast, we have spawn vert. We said we already had a couple. Already we had a couple.
[00:40:18] Speaker C: Yeah, we got a, like, individual people coming up to us.
[00:40:21] Speaker A: Like, you know, kind of like the old.
[00:40:24] Speaker C: The old fashioned, you know, asking for drugs, being like, hey, hey, buddy.
[00:40:27] Speaker A: Hey, how can.
[00:40:28] Speaker C: How can I get into spawn?
[00:40:30] Speaker B: Hey, who's this gunslinger I like?
[00:40:34] Speaker C: And then Johnny comes out with his trench coat that he opens up, and it's just got, like, big pockets with a couple of books in it. And he's like, let me.
[00:40:42] Speaker A: Let me show you.
[00:40:43] Speaker B: The only bad part is I hold a gun on them and force them to read them in front of me so I can make them, like, listen to my podcast.
Like, read, read.
Yeah, we get some good span art.
Span art fan art. Spawn fan art.
Really good stuff. There's like a. Like a painted she spawn.
[00:41:05] Speaker C: Yeah, it's beautiful. Look at that cape action and the.
[00:41:08] Speaker A: Like.
[00:41:08] Speaker B: She's got a mask, which you don't see that often. Some early she songs had a mask, but that's always fun.
[00:41:12] Speaker C: Yeah, and, you know, since it's Jessica Priest, she doesn't have so much chains as hair. And a gigantic, gigantic, like, ammo belt bandoliers.
[00:41:24] Speaker B: Just, like, blowing in the wind.
[00:41:27] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:41:28] Speaker B: Did spawn statues out of rendering? Does someone make a 3D statue?
[00:41:32] Speaker C: It looks like it might be a rendering. So I don't think it's awesome.
[00:41:36] Speaker B: With the decapitated Malbolgia, it's awesome.
[00:41:38] Speaker C: That hobby, that horse, the detail on that horse.
[00:41:41] Speaker A: Holy crap. Yeah.
We get a really cool medieval on.
[00:41:47] Speaker C: A 300 blank cover, man.
[00:41:50] Speaker A: So good. Yeah, really good.
[00:41:52] Speaker B: And we get a little. Need more spawns universe. Upcoming titles. It's all the preview for all the April and May issues. So I guess this did actually come out in April.
[00:41:59] Speaker A: That makes sense.
[00:42:00] Speaker B: It's four. So January, February, March, April.
[00:42:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:02] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:42:03] Speaker C: I, uh, I know I need more spawns universe.
[00:42:05] Speaker B: And so then you get the classic two ads that we had for, like, a year. The image classics and Avatar.
[00:42:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:12] Speaker C: Um, speaking of needing more spawn, what what's. What's the first title they say we shouldn't miss?
[00:42:18] Speaker B: Johnny, the first title we should miss is Spawn.
[00:42:31] Speaker A: Spawn.
[00:42:32] Speaker C: Oh, my God.
[00:42:33] Speaker A: I.
[00:42:34] Speaker B: Well, next to me, I just happen to have this issue of Spawn 336.
[00:42:38] Speaker C: Oh, I do too.
[00:42:40] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:42:41] Speaker C: So, I know I say this every week about one of the books, but I think we might have been sleeping on main title Spawn a little bit, because, I mean, we know sleep.
[00:42:49] Speaker B: We're always sleeping. I mean, you were talking about how you like naps, so we do sleep a lot.
[00:42:53] Speaker C: Well, we don't sleep enough main title spawn. I mean, you know, we're just like.
[00:42:59] Speaker A: It's.
[00:43:00] Speaker C: It's what got us here.
[00:43:01] Speaker A: It's great.
[00:43:02] Speaker C: And, you know, just, I feel like sometimes I particularly take it for granted how good this fucking book is.
[00:43:09] Speaker B: Right. I do. Because it's like it's always there. It's the main one. Like, I always thought it was kind.
[00:43:12] Speaker A: Of the boring one.
[00:43:13] Speaker B: When I got into it. Because I was more excited by the new stuff. But now I'm really definitely not the boring. I mean, none of them are boring.
[00:43:20] Speaker A: Yeah. No.
[00:43:21] Speaker C: And it's so good. And the art goes well with the. And Rory McConville is just. He knows what he's doing.
[00:43:28] Speaker A: Fuck.
[00:43:29] Speaker B: Especially after he took over. I think when Todd father was writing both Gunslinger and this, it was a little. Spawn was a little directionless. But once Rory McConville took over, I.
[00:43:37] Speaker A: Think it's been excellent.
[00:43:38] Speaker C: Yeah, it's. It's been so good.
[00:43:41] Speaker A: And every issue is.
[00:43:42] Speaker B: The issue is a record breaker.
[00:43:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:43:44] Speaker C: Every issue it's amazing. It feels like we're part of something we're helping contribute to the breaking of records.
[00:43:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:43:52] Speaker C: So Spawn 336 came out December.
[00:43:55] Speaker A: So, you know, a couple months ago.
[00:43:59] Speaker C: A little over maybe, like, six weeks ago. As of recording, much longer than that.
[00:44:05] Speaker A: At time of hearing.
[00:44:07] Speaker B: Depending on the style shop, they might still have it on the shelves. Or it's easy to find online, you know.
[00:44:11] Speaker C: Yeah, it should be really easy to get ahold of.
[00:44:14] Speaker B: Or if you're in the future, you have either the spawn compendium, like number eight, or you have a trade paperback, maybe.
[00:44:21] Speaker A: Why in the future do you get.
[00:44:23] Speaker B: Blown up by a balloon from China yet?
[00:44:26] Speaker C: Or if you know, by the time that you're hearing this, it should be available as a single issue through hoopla.
[00:44:33] Speaker A: Because hoopla does that.
[00:44:36] Speaker C: Or you can go to comixology, get digital copies there.
[00:44:39] Speaker A: That's always a good place to go.
Yeah.
[00:44:43] Speaker B: Well, as we were want to do as spawn is want to do as books are want to do.
[00:44:47] Speaker A: Let's start with a cover.
[00:44:48] Speaker C: Yeah, they got covers.
[00:44:49] Speaker A: I mean, they're.
[00:44:50] Speaker C: It's like the clothing of the book.
[00:44:53] Speaker B: And Spawn is always dressed to the nines, baby.
[00:44:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:58] Speaker B: Beautiful.
[00:44:58] Speaker C: 336S, if you will.
[00:45:00] Speaker B: Dress to the love. We always. I mean, I mentioned before, but, man, I love the thicker covers. They're just. They're so easy, just, like, stuff in your bag. You don't have to worry about them.
[00:45:12] Speaker A: Getting, like, best up too much.
[00:45:13] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:45:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:45:14] Speaker B: Unless you read them a lot, like me, and rip out the middle pages. But that's my fault.
[00:45:18] Speaker A: Yeah, that's. Johnny.
[00:45:19] Speaker C: How dare you enjoy something so much?
[00:45:21] Speaker A: I know. So I have.
[00:45:23] Speaker B: Well, what cover do you have, David?
[00:45:25] Speaker C: I have. I have the. Hold on. What was his first name?
I have the Sanford green covered cover a. So it's just a spawn, you know, kind of spider manning around on his chains above, just a mass of demons.
[00:45:42] Speaker B: Yeah, they're awesome looking. Like. Like, really, like, literally like a rat king of demons.
[00:45:47] Speaker C: Yeah, they. They look a lot like, uh, it's a. Speaking of X Men, it looks like a whole bunch of different versions of Mojo.
[00:45:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:45:57] Speaker C: The most disgusting creature from any X Men ever. It just looks like a whole bunch of mojos at the bottom there.
[00:46:03] Speaker A: It really does. I read a Mojo Marvel trading card.
[00:46:08] Speaker B: Marvel masterpieces.
[00:46:10] Speaker C: That was cool. I had that exact same trading card.
[00:46:12] Speaker A: Really?
[00:46:13] Speaker C: The shop I went to for free comic book day.
Were trying to get rid of some backstock of their X Men trading cards. And so, like, you'd go up, you'd get the books, and they'd give you. You didn't get to choose which card you got, but they'd give you an X Men trading card and a little plastic case. And that's the one that I got.
I was real sad. I was like, can I get that other one? And they're like, nope, you get what you get. And I was like, aw, yeah.
[00:46:37] Speaker B: Mojo's gross. I haven't seen Mojo a lot in marvel. Snap. It's a card that people use.
[00:46:42] Speaker C: An excellent villain because they are just completely vile. But, oh, man.
[00:46:47] Speaker A: Just like, they're too disgusting for me.
[00:46:51] Speaker C: To get any enjoyment from their visage.
Unpleasant. Unpleasant.
[00:46:59] Speaker B: Well, I also have the bee cover.
[00:47:01] Speaker A: Oh, bee cover.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: In addition to the a. I got both here. Um, the bee cover is wrapped in plastic. Never read. Um, but it is Carlo Barberi, our main dude. And it is, like, just a big old beefy battle spawn. He's, like, ready to go. His right hand's all got necroplasm chains going every which way.
Got a blue title treatment, blue and yellow, which I like, so that's pretty cool.
[00:47:27] Speaker A: Nice.
Looks great.
[00:47:30] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, I'm seeing it right now on the Internet, and that's a good look.
[00:47:33] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:47:35] Speaker B: Beefy spawns coming for. He's got a knife. He's got, like, a big old fucking knife.
[00:47:39] Speaker C: He does have a big old fucking knife.
[00:47:41] Speaker B: Is he holding it properly, David?
[00:47:43] Speaker C: Yeah, he's holding it properly.
[00:47:45] Speaker A: Good, good.
[00:47:46] Speaker C: As long as he doesn't try to, you know, cut with the backside there.
[00:47:50] Speaker A: I just. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:47:53] Speaker B: The. Of course, we've already mentioned Rory McConville is our writer with additional script by the toad father. The toad father.
Ribbit, ribbit. For the toad father. Baby.
[00:48:06] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:09] Speaker C: Tom Orzakowski is back on letters for this one, so that's exciting.
[00:48:13] Speaker B: And Carlo Barberry for art.
[00:48:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:16] Speaker C: J. David Ramos for colors.
[00:48:19] Speaker A: Nice. Yeah. Yep.
[00:48:21] Speaker B: All our friends.
[00:48:22] Speaker C: All of them are there.
[00:48:23] Speaker B: All of our great friends that write spawn.
[00:48:25] Speaker C: And you were there. And you were there.
[00:48:28] Speaker A: All of you were there.
[00:48:29] Speaker B: And Thomas Healy was there with a red sharpie.
[00:48:35] Speaker A: So our.
[00:48:36] Speaker B: Previously on Spawn.
In spawn or on Spawn it is on paper.
Sin's surprise attack of Omega island was met by clown's forces and the sudden appearance of Sin's brother, the forsaken hell.
[00:48:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:48:52] Speaker B: Aka the dark Redeemer.
[00:48:55] Speaker C: I love how many nicknames these characters all have.
[00:48:57] Speaker B: Oh, it's great.
[00:48:59] Speaker C: It's like a dog where you get a dog and you name the dog.
[00:49:02] Speaker A: One thing, and then you give them.
[00:49:04] Speaker C: A weird nickname, and then that nickname morphs into something else. And you never call them by their.
[00:49:08] Speaker A: Real name, except for sometimes when they're in trouble.
[00:49:12] Speaker B: Yeah. Like when. In this issue, when Abel calls him Cain and he's like, cain. It's like, cain, don't you hit me with that rock.
[00:49:21] Speaker A: Don't you do it. Yeah.
[00:49:23] Speaker C: We start off just like in the middle of the fight. We got brother against brother just going at it. It's a civil w of biblical proportions.
[00:49:34] Speaker B: And it's been since the. It's been millennia since Cain crushed in the skull of Abel with a rock.
[00:49:41] Speaker C: I like, it was the day sin committed the first murder. I like how first his in quotation marks. Like what?
[00:49:48] Speaker B: Yeah, dude. Cause you know what? When God created man, he fucking slayed.
[00:49:54] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:49:56] Speaker B: Yes. God slay God.
[00:50:02] Speaker A: And then you get Kane and Abel.
[00:50:03] Speaker B: Here, which you don't know because you're lost, illiterate.
[00:50:10] Speaker A: But it reminds me of the man.
[00:50:12] Speaker B: In black and Jacob, which are based off Cain and Abel. Like, they almost called them Cain and Abel, I'm pretty sure.
[00:50:18] Speaker A: But they're like a dark haired, raven.
[00:50:21] Speaker B: Haired and a blonde haired. Children that grow up together on the island eventually become godlike characters that are in opposition of each other. So very similar. That was obviously inspired by the Bible.
Any Dame belindelof show is super spiritual.
[00:50:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:50:39] Speaker B: But there's a very specific episode, not.
[00:50:43] Speaker A: Well loved at all.
[00:50:44] Speaker B: It's kind of people still, prequelly, it's kind of late in the game, and it's almost like the phantom menace for lost. Or they go back and show them all as kids. But it reminds me of this page here.
[00:50:54] Speaker A: A little bit nice, where it's got.
[00:50:57] Speaker C: Them fighting as young and them fighting as old.
[00:50:59] Speaker B: Well, see, the thing wasn't lost because there's Jacob and the man in black. It was actually, the theory was he was going to be called Esau, who's another bad brother, right?
[00:51:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:51:08] Speaker B: Esau's another e s a u e. So he's another bad brother from the Bible. Bad brother from the Bible.
[00:51:13] Speaker C: This Bible is full of bad brothers.
[00:51:16] Speaker A: A lot of them. Satan.
[00:51:17] Speaker B: He's probably. He's a brother to an angel and he's bad.
[00:51:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:51:20] Speaker B: So they're just going at it, and it's.
[00:51:22] Speaker A: It's like reflecting their childhood, where they.
[00:51:25] Speaker B: Went at it, where they're playing as children, and it evolves into him, like, killing.
[00:51:28] Speaker C: Yeah, him rock in hand.
[00:51:31] Speaker B: And, you know, it explicitly lays out. I guess we knew this, but it explicitly lays out this is the first human hell spawn and the first redeemer fighting cuz. Cuz we know that Cog was the first human hell spawn. The first. First one with the symbiote.
[00:51:44] Speaker A: Right. Yeah. Well, I mean, cuz cog helps. Helped create the first symbiote. Yep.
[00:51:50] Speaker C: And then, and then he wore it. And he did well. And then he tried to overthrow Satan. And that's.
[00:51:58] Speaker A: That was his downfall.
[00:52:00] Speaker C: Then he got still.
[00:52:01] Speaker B: He's. And he's still trying.
[00:52:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:03] Speaker C: Then he got trapped on earth.
[00:52:05] Speaker A: Boom.
[00:52:05] Speaker B: He gets a good punch. He's just like, sin's all just, like, covered in necro goo.
[00:52:10] Speaker A: Like he's got a big, like, wound in his head.
[00:52:13] Speaker C: It's like he's.
[00:52:14] Speaker A: He's.
[00:52:14] Speaker C: It's like those old Gatorade commercials with Michael Jordan where Michael. Where he's literally sweating out the Gatorade.
[00:52:20] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, no, it looks like that.
[00:52:21] Speaker A: This is.
[00:52:22] Speaker B: He calls him Kane Dark Redeemer. Says, you have no idea how long I waited for this Kane.
[00:52:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:26] Speaker B: So kind of using his insult a little bit.
[00:52:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:30] Speaker B: Also, pretty big jerk there, sin. He goes, for me, I didn't think about you once.
[00:52:35] Speaker A: I was like, dude, you dumb dummy.
[00:52:38] Speaker B: Don't think about millennium.
[00:52:41] Speaker C: He's got no remorse.
[00:52:43] Speaker B: So on my spawn offs and main.
[00:52:45] Speaker A: Spawn, read through that I do on my own here.
[00:52:49] Speaker B: Because you can't get enough spawn. I found this really great reading order.
[00:52:54] Speaker A: Online on the subreddit. Mm hmm.
[00:52:56] Speaker B: I'm at the point, like, I think after 01:01 hundred or so, it advises you cut back and read, like, a lot of the spawn, the dark ages. So I'm reading, like, I read the first eight issues of that.
[00:53:06] Speaker C: Oh, nice.
[00:53:07] Speaker B: And you get Lord Cogliostro, or he's like a.
[00:53:12] Speaker A: He's like a knight kind of thing.
[00:53:13] Speaker B: And it's pretty funny. He's a little more jovial, but it's cool. It's cool. I didn't know that. Dark age is like a whole new character. And it's like a new spawn in the middle. It's not medieval spawn. It's a dark ages spawn.
[00:53:23] Speaker A: Nice. And it has more in common with, like, braveheart than.
[00:53:29] Speaker B: I don't know what I thought it would be. It's cool.
[00:53:31] Speaker C: Interesting.
[00:53:32] Speaker A: Interesting.
[00:53:32] Speaker B: We'll get there.
[00:53:33] Speaker C: I have that.
[00:53:34] Speaker A: I need to bust it out and read it. Really good art.
[00:53:37] Speaker B: Really good art.
[00:53:37] Speaker A: Yeah, it's fun, but yeah.
[00:53:39] Speaker B: The revised reading order I found, which I'm gonna look up if you wanna continue to talk about the episode. David, or the issue.
[00:53:46] Speaker C: Oh, the issue.
[00:53:47] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:53:47] Speaker C: Well, so we kinda.
[00:53:49] Speaker B: I wanna shout out this reading order, because it's really good.
[00:53:51] Speaker C: Okay, awesome. So we cut back to Clown's control room, and he's watching these brothers beat the crap out of each other.
And, you know, clown's watching his boy able that presumably he made some gigantic promises to, to get him to come do this fighting, which is why he sent, oh, I forgot his name.
[00:54:13] Speaker A: It starts with a Jericho.
[00:54:16] Speaker C: Jericho sends Jericho to go rope them in.
[00:54:19] Speaker B: And so the person who created the spawn chronology reading order that's available at Reddit is. Blake Whitlow.
[00:54:27] Speaker A: Blake Whitlow.
[00:54:28] Speaker B: So thank you, Blake. This is an awesome resource. Last updated in December 9, 2022.
[00:54:35] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:54:35] Speaker C: We should probably link that in the description.
[00:54:38] Speaker B: I will.
[00:54:38] Speaker A: Now, it's really cool when we cover this, or we'll find out, we might.
[00:54:42] Speaker B: Even know, not know that we follow on Instagram or something. Who knows? We don't know who that is.
[00:54:48] Speaker A: That's cool.
[00:54:49] Speaker B: Thank you, Blake.
[00:54:50] Speaker C: Yeah, thank you.
[00:54:50] Speaker A: Thank you. Clown's just watching.
[00:54:53] Speaker C: Had the exact same observation you had Johnny, where he's just gooing out this necroplasm.
[00:55:00] Speaker B: He's leaking like a sieve.
[00:55:01] Speaker A: Leaking like a sieve.
[00:55:04] Speaker C: But clown's like, yeah, we'll just wait till he gets, wait till he loses all his energies and then we'll, you.
[00:55:09] Speaker A: Know, gut him like a pig.
[00:55:11] Speaker B: I love how he says he's like a child on a sugar rush because.
[00:55:14] Speaker A: It'S pretty good arrogance.
[00:55:16] Speaker B: It's always been sin's downfall. The second he gets a taste of power, he's like a child on a sugar rush. Yeah, it's true. Cogs just really wants power and then he gets it and he burns out too brightly, like he's doing now.
[00:55:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:55:27] Speaker C: You think he would learn? He's been on, he's been on this earth for how long, Johnny?
[00:55:31] Speaker B: He just really thinks he deserves to. Dammit. And that can really mess with somebody.
[00:55:35] Speaker C: Yeah, he's too angry.
[00:55:36] Speaker A: He's too angry about it.
[00:55:38] Speaker B: Then we, then we cut back to one of the, one of my favorite parts of the issue, this, like, goofy domestic comedy with overkill.
[00:55:46] Speaker C: And Mark here, what you doing, Mark, who you call?
[00:55:50] Speaker B: Jim says, no messages in or out. He talks like, I don't know.
[00:55:58] Speaker C: Don't worry. Overkill. I was just calling for a pizza and that's all.
[00:56:01] Speaker B: Hey, man, that's right. Anytime I'm doing something bad, I'm just like, yo, let's get a pizza. No one ever questions that cuz they're like, oh, okay, he's just getting a pizza.
[00:56:08] Speaker A: All right, all right. Yeah. And I like the, the sort of.
[00:56:12] Speaker C: Prison that the medieval helmet is in, and the helmet's doing that thing where it's like, I'm gonna break this. I'm gonna break this.
[00:56:20] Speaker A: I'm gonna break this one. Bonk, bonk, bonk, bonk, bonk. Or clonk. Helicopter just. Whee.
[00:56:25] Speaker B: Breaks through it like flies to him.
[00:56:27] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:56:28] Speaker C: It's so fun.
[00:56:29] Speaker A: It's so fun.
[00:56:32] Speaker B: Overkill called Spawn. The spawn monster.
[00:56:34] Speaker C: The spawn monster.
[00:56:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, man.
[00:56:38] Speaker C: We have to stop him. Understand?
[00:56:39] Speaker A: Don't want to hurt you, so you.
[00:56:42] Speaker C: Need to tell me who you calling or.
[00:56:44] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:56:46] Speaker C: Yeah. I love that little panel. It's.
[00:56:49] Speaker A: It's really good. It's.
[00:56:50] Speaker C: It's so fun. I don't know what it's. It's got a lot of texture that you. That isn't on the rest of the. The panels.
[00:56:58] Speaker A: And I just.
[00:56:59] Speaker C: It's just all the shadows, but there's something about it, man.
[00:57:02] Speaker A: It's a real good panel.
[00:57:04] Speaker C: And then the next thing we know, I would have words with you, overt.
[00:57:08] Speaker A: Kill, but you need to step away from mark now.
Let's go.
[00:57:13] Speaker B: I love the sword. It's got the little spawn logo on there.
[00:57:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:57:16] Speaker C: And he's still got that big spawn logo. Shields, and.
[00:57:20] Speaker A: Oh, man. Just shing.
[00:57:22] Speaker B: It's like a little anime, like, shine coming off his eye like a ding.
[00:57:26] Speaker C: Just in his full glory.
[00:57:27] Speaker A: Look at that.
[00:57:28] Speaker B: And then just the next page just cuts to him, like, flying, bam, through the air and just smacks overkill with his sword, probably.
[00:57:35] Speaker C: Yeah. And then Daniel's just like, took you long enough.
Medieval's just like, I told you. I told you. I told you it would take a while.
[00:57:47] Speaker B: Now medieval's got to fight Saigor. We like both of them. We don't want to see that.
[00:57:51] Speaker C: Yeah, but he's, you know, he's been brainwashed by. By Jim Downing.
[00:57:56] Speaker A: So, you know, medieval knows what he's got to do.
The honorable thing.
[00:58:02] Speaker B: It's a rough task. It's a rough task for anybody.
[00:58:04] Speaker C: Rough task. Rough task. And then, Johnny, I have.
[00:58:10] Speaker A: This is weird.
Next.
[00:58:13] Speaker C: I have just a completely blank page, except for at the bottom, it says one word.
It just says podcast.
I don't know why they would waste a whole page just to say one word. Podcast.
[00:58:25] Speaker A: But there you have it. Empty page.
[00:58:28] Speaker B: I'm gonna.
[00:58:29] Speaker A: Here.
[00:58:29] Speaker B: I'm reaching the computer. I'm slapping you out of it.
[00:58:31] Speaker A: Slap, slap.
[00:58:31] Speaker B: Slap, slap, slap. Ah, no, this is not a blank page. You do not skip the pundits.
Anyone listening? If you skip the pundits, you're gonna go to spawn jail.
[00:58:41] Speaker C: Spawn prison. Either that or you'll have to become an unpaid intern for, um, shit, what's his name? Brock the rock.
[00:58:48] Speaker B: Brock the, brock the shock fennel, baby.
[00:58:50] Speaker C: Brock the shock fennel. You gotta become one of his unpaid interns and do all this dirty work.
[00:58:55] Speaker B: And no, we, so if you don't get the bit, we get Reddit's favorite, the three pundits, because every two months there's an article that's like, or a post. It's like, I skipped the pundits. Like, it's a fucking badge of honor to not read.
[00:59:08] Speaker A: Yeah. But now we gotta, you know, talking.
[00:59:12] Speaker C: About just sort of the nonsense that's going on in the world.
[00:59:15] Speaker A: You know, people getting, people getting sick.
[00:59:18] Speaker C: And dying and then dying. People not dying. Like, what the hell's going on with that?
[00:59:22] Speaker A: Because, you know, we haven't talked about.
[00:59:25] Speaker C: It for a long time, but, like, back when the dead zones were frozen, like, the people who died kind of stuck around because there was nowhere for their spirits to go. It feels like forever since we talked about that.
[00:59:36] Speaker A: Dang.
Oh, man.
[00:59:39] Speaker B: A lot of spawn in between then and now.
[00:59:41] Speaker A: A lot of spawn. And so just, you know, a lot.
[00:59:44] Speaker C: Of weird shit happening and they're, you know, being like, we'll let you know as soon as we know stuff. And then the third pundit, man, is just like, oh, hell no. Oh, hell no. We got to start a war. You got to give me money. I'm going to put my podcast behind a paywall, and you, and you're going.
[01:00:01] Speaker B: To get survival gear and you're going to get stickers that say the patriot.
[01:00:07] Speaker C: It's a reasonable fee. I wonder what reasonable is to him.
[01:00:11] Speaker B: And I like the reason I like this pundit and all the pundits is it gives you that flavor and, like, just these little creepy story about this person that, like, wouldn't die or came back to life and, like, it really gives you a flavor to the world.
[01:00:21] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:00:22] Speaker B: And I love the third pundit so much.
I mean, I don't love him as, like, his views. I love him as a character. He's so ridiculous and such a good.
[01:00:31] Speaker C: He takes, he takes sort of the overlap of what everybody else is talking about but specifically ignoring because it could be either nonsense or just too sensational. And he's like, that's the only thing.
[01:00:42] Speaker A: I want to talk about.
[01:00:44] Speaker B: And that's what hell would do because he just creates confusion.
[01:00:46] Speaker C: Yeah, it's like everybody's trying to be, you know, as sensitive to the topics as possible. And this dude's just like, you know, man, somebody's out here just waving their ass around. And that's what I want to talk about.
[01:01:01] Speaker B: Yeah, it's funny. It's fun how they've endured too. It's just something that takes you back to the very first issue of spawn.
[01:01:06] Speaker C: Yeah, it's so good.
[01:01:07] Speaker B: They've been there.
[01:01:08] Speaker A: And, you know, if there's ever a.
[01:01:09] Speaker B: Final issue of spawn, probably the last panel will be the pundits and, like, signing out.
[01:01:13] Speaker A: Yeah, it'd be Al Simmons, american hero.
[01:01:17] Speaker B: This is the pundits signing off.
[01:01:22] Speaker A: And then.
[01:01:22] Speaker B: Taps plays.
You must be playing taps on this next page for all these people getting blown to pieces.
[01:01:29] Speaker A: Oh, man. Yeah, we got, we got, like, a.
[01:01:31] Speaker C: Dude in a beret just shotgunning a, like, a vampire in the chest. We got a half a body. We got a couple of omens just, like, flying through the air.
[01:01:43] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:01:43] Speaker C: Just carnage. We got people getting eaten by dinosaurs.
[01:01:47] Speaker B: Who have not gone super Saiyan yet. There's the other half of that. Half of a body too. That's hilarious.
[01:01:52] Speaker C: There's just, like, hands going.
I guess that's the hand from the guy up there who's missing a hand.
[01:01:58] Speaker A: Yeah, that's great.
[01:01:59] Speaker B: Nice little joke there.
[01:02:00] Speaker C: So many pieces. There's that one dinosaur that's got a head in its hand and it's just holding onto it.
[01:02:07] Speaker B: I didn't even notice that.
I would say the prospect of a victory for sin is dwindling pretty fast.
[01:02:15] Speaker C: As it says here. Yeah, man.
And they're just like, oh, shit, what are we?
[01:02:22] Speaker B: They lost all the necro exiles. Our favorite. Yeah, all the necro exiles are dead.
[01:02:27] Speaker C: We should retreat. And cataclysm is like, no, we need to help and stay.
[01:02:31] Speaker A: Sin or helps in.
[01:02:33] Speaker C: And blood's just like, ah, no, man.
[01:02:36] Speaker A: No, man.
[01:02:37] Speaker C: Like, he's the reason we're here. And look at what he's done to us.
[01:02:42] Speaker A: It's.
[01:02:42] Speaker C: It's not good.
[01:02:44] Speaker A: Um, and so then they just, you know, they do, like, uh, let. It's like, in, um, what we do.
[01:02:52] Speaker C: In the shadows where he's just like.
[01:02:53] Speaker A: Bat flies away and they're all just gone.
[01:02:57] Speaker B: And they leave him sitting there with his knife.
[01:02:59] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:03:00] Speaker B: As sin is still getting the shit kicked out of him by, uh, Abel.
[01:03:03] Speaker A: Yeah, he's just, we get a, you.
[01:03:07] Speaker C: Know, Abel fill in Canaan about, you know, being one of the first human souls to go to heaven. He basically became a guinea pig. And he was like, man, that sucks so much. Like, he's getting flayed open. He's getting fired.
[01:03:22] Speaker B: Brainwashed.
[01:03:23] Speaker A: Oh, man. It's just.
[01:03:26] Speaker B: Yeah, he's getting flayed no good.
[01:03:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:03:29] Speaker B: Heaven, man. Not much better than hell.
[01:03:31] Speaker C: Yeah, sin. Sin's like, I ain't got no. I ain't got no sympathy for you.
[01:03:38] Speaker A: So I'm just.
[01:03:38] Speaker C: I'll just kill you.
[01:03:39] Speaker A: How about that? Again?
[01:03:41] Speaker C: I'll kill you again.
[01:03:42] Speaker A: What a.
[01:03:42] Speaker C: But what about whole sin is.
[01:03:45] Speaker A: It's too bad he didn't have a.
[01:03:46] Speaker B: Rock, because he can't kill him without a rock.
[01:03:48] Speaker A: Yeah, that's his.
[01:03:49] Speaker C: That's his go to move.
[01:03:52] Speaker A: And he's just like, boom.
[01:03:53] Speaker B: Smacks him down and says, the rest of heaven will soon be following you into oblivion, man.
[01:03:58] Speaker C: Abel is here to mess stuff up.
[01:04:02] Speaker A: He is.
[01:04:03] Speaker C: He is not here for it anymore. He has dealt with it, and now.
[01:04:07] Speaker A: He'S dealing with it.
[01:04:09] Speaker C: And then we pour it back into Al's mind.
[01:04:12] Speaker A: Oh, wait, hold on, hold on.
All right.
[01:04:20] Speaker B: We're incepted into Al's mind. We're in the third level of Al's mind. Okay, continue, continue.
[01:04:25] Speaker A: Okay. Do you have your.
[01:04:25] Speaker C: Do you have your talisman going? Do you get your physical?
[01:04:28] Speaker B: Yes, my talisman is a ripped page of spawn.
[01:04:31] Speaker C: Okay, awesome.
[01:04:32] Speaker A: Did that.
[01:04:32] Speaker C: Did that one fall out for you?
[01:04:34] Speaker A: Did it fall out for you?
[01:04:34] Speaker C: Because we just passed.
[01:04:35] Speaker B: No, it did not. It did not. It's just ripped.
[01:04:38] Speaker A: You haven't ripped. Oh, that's a.
[01:04:40] Speaker C: That's a new. That's like, you're too excited, and you're just like. You flip it too fast, and it's.
[01:04:44] Speaker A: Like, ah, it's ripped.
[01:04:45] Speaker B: I think it was from putting it in my bag. It's like it got caught and ripped a corner on it.
[01:04:49] Speaker A: But what are you gonna do?
[01:04:51] Speaker C: I mean, you're just gonna have to read it again.
[01:04:53] Speaker B: So you got Jim and Jim and Nix chillin in Al's mind, and now he's like. They're in, like, the deep, deep part because it's getting to, like, his true emotions because they see his wedding and he's smiling.
[01:05:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:03] Speaker C: And it's like.
[01:05:04] Speaker A: That's weird.
And Jim Dowering's just like, huh, wonder Blake.
[01:05:11] Speaker C: Oh, I remember her. And it's like, yeah, you remember her with your feathered hair and your blousy shirt and your very straight, very creased pants.
[01:05:21] Speaker A: Yeah, you do.
[01:05:22] Speaker B: Look at the color palette of what Nyx is wearing.
That character on the COVID of that scorch might be Nyx.
[01:05:28] Speaker A: I'm not sure.
[01:05:29] Speaker B: Or, like, the next form of Nyx. That one that we couldn't. That is not named yet. The female character. Yeah, it might be Nyx.
[01:05:34] Speaker A: I don't know. All right, we'll see. We'll see.
[01:05:38] Speaker C: We'll be able to tell when we get there, I guess.
[01:05:41] Speaker B: And like, Al Simmons does, since he's.
[01:05:43] Speaker A: Obsessed with his grave, he goes to.
[01:05:45] Speaker B: Like, a physical manifestation of, like, a graveyard. And that's finally after all this time.
[01:05:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:52] Speaker B: They find the dead zones where the secret to where the dead zones are locked.
[01:05:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:56] Speaker B: And they're just building this for 36 issues. 40.
[01:06:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:06:02] Speaker C: And they're just at a graveyard with coordinates on the headstones. So.
And so Nick or Nyx is trying to memorize these coordinates, and she's like, wait, Jim, Jim, Jim, where'd you go?
[01:06:14] Speaker A: Where are you?
[01:06:15] Speaker C: And then we teleport out of Sims or Simmons mind. And Haunt has just. Just ko'd Jim downing.
[01:06:26] Speaker A: And here's where we get a censored fuck. What the fuck have you done to him?
[01:06:31] Speaker B: A censored fuck. I like how his arms extra long, like, Freddy Krueger, and he's wrapping it around. He's like.
[01:06:39] Speaker C: You forgot to say the magic word.
[01:06:43] Speaker B: And spawn's about to, like. He's like, all right, Nix. Are you done?
[01:06:46] Speaker A: And then, boom.
[01:06:48] Speaker B: Sygor and medieval bash through the wall.
[01:06:50] Speaker A: Oh, man, such, so much chaos going on. And haunt's trying to get Nyx.
[01:06:58] Speaker C: And then this panel of Nyx. Just, like, magicking. Magic spiking.
[01:07:04] Speaker A: Haunt is so great.
[01:07:05] Speaker C: I just love the little hand in the corner.
[01:07:08] Speaker B: It seems like some enemies are born. I won't forget this, you traitor. So Haunt Nyx do not like each other.
[01:07:15] Speaker A: Yeah, no.
[01:07:17] Speaker B: And then it's just like a whole big old party.
[01:07:19] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:07:19] Speaker C: It's like, everybody.
[01:07:21] Speaker A: Everyone's here.
[01:07:22] Speaker C: Everyone's there.
[01:07:23] Speaker B: Like, smash brothers.
It's a. I would love a spawn smash brothers game.
[01:07:28] Speaker C: That would be so good. Oh, man, everybody. Everybody would be so op, though.
[01:07:33] Speaker A: Everyone would be op.
[01:07:34] Speaker B: But then no one's op.
[01:07:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, man. That would be awesome. I mean, it'll.
[01:07:39] Speaker B: That's something that would never happen. I mean, you could do a spawn. A spawn fighting game would be dope.
[01:07:43] Speaker C: That would be great. Yeah.
[01:07:44] Speaker B: And he's like, you could get the mortal Kombat studio do it. It'd be awesome.
[01:07:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:07:48] Speaker C: Cause you could have the old, like, the old X Men cabinet game.
[01:07:51] Speaker A: Yo.
[01:07:52] Speaker B: That kind of game would be sweet. There's a side scrolling spawn game for.
[01:07:55] Speaker A: Snes that I've never played, but no.
[01:07:58] Speaker B: If you could do, like, a cadmit game where you could have, like, the scorch. You could be like Javi.
[01:08:01] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:08:02] Speaker B: That'd be sweet.
[01:08:03] Speaker A: That would be awesome. That was. Yeah.
[01:08:05] Speaker B: Like, the four characters would be Javi, medieval Jessica, and spawn.
[01:08:10] Speaker A: Yeah, that'd be fun.
That would be tight.
[01:08:14] Speaker B: If only.
[01:08:15] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:08:16] Speaker B: That was like a mythical arcade machine to me, that X Men won.
[01:08:20] Speaker A: It was so cool.
[01:08:22] Speaker B: Best graphics ever. It'll never. It looks exactly like the cartoon.
[01:08:25] Speaker C: Yeah, it was so big too. That was the problem. Most places didn't have. Have the room for it.
[01:08:30] Speaker A: It's.
[01:08:30] Speaker B: There were four and six player versions of it, I think.
[01:08:32] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:08:33] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe. Just don't think there were two and four player versions. Maybe a six player, but I don't think so. I think the screen wasn't big enough for six.
[01:08:39] Speaker A: Yeah, but it was a two screener. It was great. It was great.
[01:08:43] Speaker C: Yeah, it had the. Instead of having the screen directly, it.
[01:08:47] Speaker A: Had, like, projected like a. Yeah, it.
[01:08:49] Speaker B: Was like a mirror.
[01:08:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:08:50] Speaker C: Everything was, like, reversed. I think that's so that way they could get rid of that.
The seam between the two. The two screens.
[01:08:57] Speaker A: Right.
[01:08:57] Speaker B: I think that's what it was.
[01:08:58] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, man.
[01:09:00] Speaker C: But, yeah, so everybody's fighting and Nick's.
[01:09:02] Speaker A: Nicks and Jim are having a weirdly.
[01:09:05] Speaker C: Calm conversation about how she needs to go while all this chaos is happening.
[01:09:10] Speaker A: It's.
[01:09:10] Speaker B: Imagine that voiceover of slow motion and.
[01:09:12] Speaker A: Beating the shit out of each other.
[01:09:15] Speaker B: And she's got to get out of there because she has the position, all the dead zones. So time to go.
[01:09:24] Speaker C: Just walking through the thing, and I'll.
[01:09:26] Speaker A: Make sure Smash brothers is going on.
Smash brothers is going on.
[01:09:30] Speaker C: I think they might have. I think Carlo Barberry might need to get hit with the clunk.
[01:09:35] Speaker A: Cause, uh.
[01:09:36] Speaker C: Oh, that's a real. That's a real nice ass going on.
[01:09:39] Speaker A: On Nix through the. That's.
[01:09:42] Speaker B: Hey, if we're gonna talk about Terry's ass, we can talk about Nick's ass.
[01:09:46] Speaker C: It's not fair. We could be equal opportunity, but, I mean, it's just like, that's all there is of her at this moment because she's disappearing and, you know, you can't. Obviously, it's gonna be the last thing to go through the portal. She's not gonna back into it backward.
[01:10:03] Speaker A: But still, you see a good.
[01:10:05] Speaker C: But you say something about it.
[01:10:09] Speaker A: Hold on.
[01:10:10] Speaker C: No, wait a second.
[01:10:12] Speaker B: Not fiction, not in real life.
[01:10:14] Speaker A: Look at.
[01:10:15] Speaker C: Looking at butts is fine.
[01:10:17] Speaker A: Don't be weird about it.
[01:10:19] Speaker C: Don't stare, don't fucking comment about it. You don't need to tell people if they have a nice butt, unless they specifically ask if they have a nice butt, then you can say something.
[01:10:29] Speaker B: Yeah, don't.
[01:10:30] Speaker C: Don't be.
[01:10:32] Speaker A: Don't be.
[01:10:32] Speaker C: Don't be a creepy old man. I used to work with this guy who, like, you'd be having a conversation with him, and if somebody. If, like, a young woman would walk by, he would literally, like, continue to listen to you, but, like, lean over to watch them as they walked away and be like, yeah, yeah, so creepy.
[01:10:53] Speaker A: Do not, like. It's like, why?
[01:10:56] Speaker C: What are you doing? I mean, take a quick look and then stop. Don't, like, lean over.
[01:11:02] Speaker A: Yeah, that's terrible.
[01:11:05] Speaker B: So there's smash brothering, and then we get the power level. Spawns. Power level 1242.
[01:11:11] Speaker C: I like this little. The little white line around or coming out of overt kills eye.
[01:11:18] Speaker A: I don't know what's going on with.
[01:11:19] Speaker C: That, but it makes me happy.
[01:11:21] Speaker B: That is cool. I don't know what that is.
[01:11:22] Speaker A: Zero spawns.
[01:11:24] Speaker C: Spawns levels are still pretty low, dude.
[01:11:26] Speaker A: I mean, he did.
[01:11:27] Speaker B: He spent a lot of it at.
[01:11:28] Speaker A: That battle with sin a few issues ago. Oh.
[01:11:31] Speaker B: Sin knocked him down pretty low on to spawning grounds.
[01:11:35] Speaker A: We got people who are loving spawn, and that's amazing. I love a.
[01:11:43] Speaker C: Love a letter from people who are like, hey, man, spawn's the fucking best.
[01:11:48] Speaker B: Yeah, Bobby, he said he's been a chair since 2017. He likes spawn. He's given something to look forward to every week, and like, hey, yeah, I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that.
[01:11:58] Speaker A: Yeah, it's.
[01:12:00] Speaker C: It's an amazing world to have fun in. And you can escape into the wild.
[01:12:05] Speaker A: Fancies of Albert Simmons and his band of misfits.
[01:12:09] Speaker C: His misadventures.
[01:12:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:12:12] Speaker B: This next letter by Robert V is like a thief. It's like the.
[01:12:16] Speaker A: Who's the guy that.
[01:12:17] Speaker B: 25 trees.
[01:12:18] Speaker C: It's like a classic.
[01:12:19] Speaker A: To the door of the church.
[01:12:21] Speaker B: Martin Luther.
[01:12:22] Speaker A: What was it called?
[01:12:24] Speaker C: The 99 theses.
[01:12:25] Speaker A: Thank you.
[01:12:27] Speaker C: Yeah, this is, like, an old school, like, early nineties spawning grounds letter.
[01:12:34] Speaker B: He goes, we need. We need backstories and all the other spawns, like pirate spawn, samurai spawn, zombie spawn, et cetera. But you get a future spawn.
[01:12:41] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:12:42] Speaker A: Gangster spawn, indian spawn.
[01:12:45] Speaker B: All right.
[01:12:47] Speaker A: Native american spawn. Unless.
[01:12:49] Speaker C: Unless he's specifically talking about.
[01:12:51] Speaker B: That's true. We don't know.
[01:12:53] Speaker C: Southeast asian.
[01:12:53] Speaker A: I mean.
[01:12:54] Speaker B: Yeah, like, bollywood spawn.
[01:12:56] Speaker C: Bollywood spawn would be amazing.
[01:12:58] Speaker B: Oh, my God, I love musicals. And Spawn, if they could bring that together, I mean, I'd be.
[01:13:02] Speaker A: I'd be fucking sick.
[01:13:03] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[01:13:03] Speaker A: That would be great.
[01:13:05] Speaker C: Hippie spawn. Caveman Spawn.
[01:13:07] Speaker B: He's going, this guy's going wild. I want hippie spawn.
[01:13:10] Speaker C: Spawn trading cards.
[01:13:12] Speaker A: I do.
[01:13:13] Speaker C: I do. Like that. He said out loud to no one. Holy shit. When.
When cog was. Was Kane. And I remember saying that exact same thing out loud.
[01:13:22] Speaker A: No. Yeah. This is a fun letter. This guy's just very excited and love Spawn.
Yeah.
[01:13:28] Speaker C: And then we got Bobby B. Sending in some artwork that he did on one of those blank, blank covers. And it's looking real nice.
[01:13:36] Speaker B: Yeah, real clean, like, kind of anime looking spawn.
[01:13:38] Speaker A: It's cool.
Yeah.
[01:13:40] Speaker B: Got some search lights in the background.
[01:13:42] Speaker A: Nice search lights.
[01:13:46] Speaker B: Looking for Spawn in the sky.
Is it a real episode if we don't sing a ghost song?
[01:13:53] Speaker C: No, it is not.
[01:13:54] Speaker A: But it's now an official rule.
[01:13:57] Speaker B: Well, then we get the classic. We'll get some ads. We get the ad for the upcoming gunslinger scorching king spawns.
[01:14:06] Speaker C: Sure do.
[01:14:06] Speaker A: Sure.com. And the toys.
[01:14:12] Speaker C: The toys.
[01:14:12] Speaker B: The toys of the moment.
[01:14:14] Speaker A: Toys. The year of 2022.
Yeah.
[01:14:17] Speaker B: Sam and twitch. The toys of the year.
[01:14:19] Speaker C: The Sam and twitch and the.
[01:14:21] Speaker A: The kings. The.
[01:14:22] Speaker C: The spawn in the background there just loading over there.
[01:14:25] Speaker B: Yeah, it's cool. Available now, but it also pisses me off, because there's not a spawn that's currently available with a cape like that, so.
[01:14:31] Speaker C: Hello.
[01:14:32] Speaker A: But, I mean, they'll.
[01:14:35] Speaker C: They'll come out with one.
[01:14:36] Speaker B: There's, like, a third party cape. You can buy that, like, fit spawn figures. It's, like, huge. It's pretty cool.
[01:14:41] Speaker C: Yeah, I've seen it on Amazon a couple of times.
[01:14:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:14:44] Speaker B: When I'm looking at spawn stuff. Yeah. I think they call it immortal hero. Immortal hero cape.
[01:14:49] Speaker A: Nice.
[01:14:51] Speaker C: It's a lot of cape, though.
[01:14:53] Speaker A: A lot of cape has, like, wires in it, so you can pose it and stuff too.
Yeah.
[01:14:59] Speaker C: That's awesome.
[01:15:00] Speaker A: That's awesome.
[01:15:02] Speaker C: So I think we gotta. I think we gotta rate these puppies.
[01:15:05] Speaker B: Jim, time to rate these puppies.
[01:15:07] Speaker C: Got a lot of similarities between them. We got people just oozing necroplasm all.
[01:15:13] Speaker B: Over the place, wailing on each other. Big, giant creatures wailing on other people.
[01:15:18] Speaker C: So many fights that thematically, they're tied into each other, like always. There's always something tying the books together, Johnny. It's fun.
[01:15:26] Speaker A: Yeah, it's so fun. So for scorch number four, I'm gonna.
[01:15:31] Speaker B: Give it four and a half hatless gunslingers.
[01:15:36] Speaker C: Four and a half hatless gunslingers. It's more powerful than you think it would.
[01:15:39] Speaker B: It's a really fun issue.
The only reason I wouldn't give it more. Because it's kind of in the middle of an arc, you know? I don't know. Like, I just. That's the reason I felt like giving it a 4.5. I don't know.
Yeah, it's really cool. It's fun issue. I like that. Spawns in it a lot. You don't get a lot of spawn with the scorch. And he's just in there causing havoc.
[01:15:55] Speaker A: Being a big, big jerk boss.
[01:15:59] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:15:59] Speaker B: Get some soul crusher action.
[01:16:00] Speaker A: I love the COVID Great issue. Yeah, it's a good issue.
[01:16:05] Speaker C: I'm gonna give it four supernatural super soldiers theorem vials.
[01:16:12] Speaker B: Hey, you nailed that.
[01:16:14] Speaker C: Yeah, there we go. Yeah.
[01:16:16] Speaker A: Nailed it.
[01:16:19] Speaker C: It's like you said, it's sort of the middle and the beginning of an arc. So it's kind of a little plateau that they gotta make sure it sets. So we can jump off and have a lot of fun adventures.
[01:16:28] Speaker A: Exactly.
[01:16:30] Speaker C: So, yeah, it's real good.
[01:16:31] Speaker A: A real good place to.
[01:16:33] Speaker C: If for some reason, you missed the first three issues of scorched. And wanted just to jump into what's new, and they don't have the first.
[01:16:40] Speaker A: Three issues, it's a decent enough place to start. Yeah, not bad at all. Might be a little confusing, but there.
[01:16:47] Speaker C: Are definitely worse places to start, let me tell you.
[01:16:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:16:52] Speaker C: So that's that. And then for spawn 336, I'm gonna give spawn 336 four and a half little hands in the corner of the panel, Johnny.
[01:17:03] Speaker B: That's so funny.
[01:17:06] Speaker C: Four and a half nixes hands throwing magic.
[01:17:08] Speaker B: I thought you were gonna say four and a half nixes asses.
[01:17:11] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:17:12] Speaker C: I'm not that crude.
[01:17:13] Speaker B: Yeah, it's like that guy. Your job.
[01:17:15] Speaker C: I'm gonna give it. I'm gonna give it pants full of luscious hams. Oh, yeah.
[01:17:20] Speaker B: Oh, my God. I'm going to give this one four and a half pizzas that mark ordered, which he didn't actually order, but he told overt kill. I like it. He's like, yeah, I'm ordering a pizza to our secret base.
[01:17:33] Speaker A: Love it.
[01:17:34] Speaker B: So four and a half secret base pizzas from Mark is what I would give issue 336.
[01:17:40] Speaker C: I think we have to take a timeout here.
What pizza would mark order that everyone in the.
On the spawn team would eat?
[01:17:52] Speaker B: Something real spice.
[01:17:52] Speaker C: What pizza spice would you be ordering?
[01:17:54] Speaker A: Something they're all from?
[01:17:55] Speaker B: They're all like, you got necro. They're all, like, super powerful. So Spice would do anything to them. So they get like, well, I went to Poly G's recently, good pizza chain. There's some in New York and there's some in Chicago.
[01:18:07] Speaker A: Now. They have one called the hot Logan.
[01:18:10] Speaker B: Zaddy for like, the Logan Square pizza. And I think that would be the one.
[01:18:16] Speaker A: And I think, well, they have a.
[01:18:17] Speaker B: Hellboy pie, too, that uses a hot honey. So I say the hellboy pie.
[01:18:21] Speaker C: Nice.
[01:18:21] Speaker B: From Paulie Jean.
[01:18:22] Speaker C: The hellboy. All right, nice.
[01:18:24] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:18:25] Speaker C: I would say.
That's good.
[01:18:27] Speaker A: That's good.
[01:18:28] Speaker C: I would say they would probably get a pizza with Giardiniera.
[01:18:30] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[01:18:30] Speaker C: Because giardiniere on a pizza is delicious. Oh, man.
[01:18:33] Speaker B: Yeah. It is spicy, though, if you.
[01:18:36] Speaker A: It's so good.
[01:18:37] Speaker C: If you haven't had some jardinire, because I didn't know about it until I moved to Chicago. But it's just some pickled pepper mixture, and it is amazing.
[01:18:46] Speaker A: It's good stuff.
[01:18:48] Speaker C: Amazing.
[01:18:49] Speaker A: Great. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:18:52] Speaker C: Nice. So we don't have any.
[01:18:56] Speaker A: We don't have any. Hold on, I got five.
[01:19:01] Speaker C: We don't have any letters to read this week, Johnny. That's real sad. That's real sad.
[01:19:05] Speaker A: Stop it.
[01:19:05] Speaker C: No reviews to read, no toys.
[01:19:08] Speaker A: I don't like.
[01:19:09] Speaker C: I don't like.
[01:19:09] Speaker A: Not.
[01:19:10] Speaker B: Don't talk about being sad on the podcast and not having things.
[01:19:13] Speaker A: Aw.
[01:19:15] Speaker C: But, but fun times ahead. So this podcast is infinitely indebted to baseball with the Todd father and all that things. And so I was wondering, and we've.
[01:19:28] Speaker B: Bonded over going to baseball games, so it's in the DNA.
[01:19:31] Speaker C: I was wondering if maybe we could get some of that flavor in here for the weeks that we had. Don't have anything. So that way, I'm not a sad, sad boy. And so, Johnny, what do you think about doing maybe a little bit of fantasy baseball? Yeah, maybe.
[01:19:44] Speaker B: I like that idea.
[01:19:45] Speaker C: Fantasy baseball.
[01:19:47] Speaker A: Yeah. So the idea I had was we.
[01:19:51] Speaker C: Get together, we make a couple of teams, three teams, to be precise. You know, we'd have a hell team, a heaven team, and an earth team, make positions and players out of. Out of the characters, and then we kind of give them what we imagined the games between them would be.
I think that would be a fun thing to do, if you have any. And, you know, we could do audience participation if you would like. It'll probably all be done before audience gets to hear it, but.
[01:20:20] Speaker A: So, yeah.
[01:20:21] Speaker C: That sounds like a fun thing we could do. And then we could get Brian to write us a good take me out to the ball game song, because, you know, we love Brian's music. And take me out to the ball games fair use. So.
[01:20:33] Speaker A: So, yeah.
[01:20:34] Speaker C: So I think. I think Nek. So for this next week, we should discuss who we would like to put on the Tin man roster for an earth team based on all the characters that we've read. All right, so be thinking about some earth people, and we can. We can put them together.
[01:20:50] Speaker A: All right.
[01:20:50] Speaker B: I'm excited. That'll be good.
[01:20:52] Speaker C: Play some baseball.
[01:20:53] Speaker A: It'll be very.
[01:20:53] Speaker B: Yeah, it's kind of inspired by spawn. Brazil did that fantasy. Or, like, a soccer team, like, where they would be hell versus heaven.
[01:21:01] Speaker A: So, yeah, yeah.
[01:21:03] Speaker B: It's getting into spring training time, so we know the top father loves baseball.
[01:21:08] Speaker C: And it's almost baseball season. Best season of the year.
[01:21:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:21:12] Speaker C: Until, you know, your team starts doing real bad, and then it's like, ah.
[01:21:15] Speaker A: What.
[01:21:15] Speaker C: What the shit is this?
[01:21:16] Speaker A: So fun to watch.
Baseball's fun.
[01:21:19] Speaker B: Baseball's fun. I find it relaxing.
[01:21:22] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a real good time. Spawn and baseball, two great tastes that go great together.
[01:21:28] Speaker B: Well, we also. We need to, as always, we like to do a little Instagram shout out to the lovely swan community we found online. On Instagram mainly. But I'm sure we'll be branching out into other places soon.
[01:21:42] Speaker A: We will see.
[01:21:43] Speaker C: Yes.
[01:21:44] Speaker B: But we have a shout out to.
[01:21:48] Speaker C: It is tonyarts.
And that's Tony with an I on Instagram. And they, man, they've got. They're making vinyl stickers. They're doing photography of their action figures. They've just got some real good spawn stuff.
[01:22:07] Speaker A: So it's.
I mean, they.
[01:22:10] Speaker C: They literally have pictures that nobody else has.
[01:22:13] Speaker B: And that's exciting. Really unique. Really unique stuff.
[01:22:15] Speaker A: The stickers look cool.
[01:22:16] Speaker B: I really want some of those.
[01:22:19] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[01:22:19] Speaker C: Those glow in the dark ones. Oh, man.
[01:22:21] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I would slap.
[01:22:23] Speaker C: I would slap those on so many light posts in downtown Chicago. And then when they got buffed over, I would slap over them again.
[01:22:32] Speaker B: No, this is a really, really great, really great account and really unique and.
[01:22:39] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, it's good.
[01:22:42] Speaker C: It's a good place. It's a good place to see some good things for spawn and some world.
[01:22:46] Speaker B: Exclusive things, you know.
[01:22:47] Speaker A: Yeah, it's real good. That's real good.
[01:22:51] Speaker C: So what are we gonna be reading next week, Johnny?
[01:22:53] Speaker A: Do you need.
[01:22:53] Speaker B: Yeah, next week we got two issues of spawn. We'll be reading for our classic issue or older issue, King Swan number five.
[01:23:04] Speaker A: Oh, very. That's.
[01:23:05] Speaker C: That. Is that the last one in the trade paperback for that?
[01:23:08] Speaker B: I think it goes to six.
[01:23:10] Speaker A: Goes to six. Okay.
[01:23:11] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:23:12] Speaker B: There's five. Six issue arcs.
[01:23:16] Speaker A: All right.

[01:24:15] Speaker A: Oh, nice. Nice.
[01:24:16] Speaker C: Which we will not play here.
[01:24:18] Speaker B: Nope. Because we get our episode taken down.
[01:24:23] Speaker A: Yeah. Nothing.
[01:24:24] Speaker C: Nothing's worse than a free episode. Not paying money to people, and then.
I don't even know where I'm going with that. I was gonna go on a tangent and a rant, and it failed immediately.
[01:24:36] Speaker A: And I will admit it. That's great.
[01:24:37] Speaker C: I'm gonna walk away from it.
[01:24:38] Speaker B: I'm gonna get editing. I can just cut it out now.
[01:24:42] Speaker A: So.

[01:24:46] Speaker A: Well, dang, Johnny. Oh, we forgot to mention. We.
[01:24:52] Speaker C: I mean, we mentioned him already a couple of times, but Brian does our music. He's over on instagram, too. T Brian Foyler.
[01:24:58] Speaker A: Yep.
[01:24:58] Speaker C: He does some excellent stuff. He's always got some. Some fun, goofy horror stuff that he's putting up there, too. It's always a good time. He's, uh, he's also got some motivational gym stuff. Man, can.
[01:25:09] Speaker A: He's got.
[01:25:11] Speaker C: Dude can deadlift.
[01:25:12] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. It's amazing.
[01:25:14] Speaker C: But he also does our music, and it's fantastic. We're over there, too. Regarding spawnpod and regardingspawnpodmail.com is our email address.
[01:25:24] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:25:24] Speaker B: If you want to send us questions, comments, tell us your spawn journey. If you want to let us know why the power level's raising on these spawns, because we haven't got to that issue yet. We're trying to figure it out.
[01:25:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:25:37] Speaker C: If you want to get on. On spawn to see baseball and you want to send us your teams, if they don't match what our teams look like, I mean, yeah, let us know. We'll tell you you're wrong. No, we won't tell you you're wrong. If we're wrong, tell us we're wrong often.
[01:25:51] Speaker B: So that's a lot of emails now.
[01:25:55] Speaker A: Yeah.

[01:26:03] Speaker B: It really does help if you could write reviews. If you've listened to more than a couple episodes of the podcast, please just take 2 seconds to click those stars or write a review and say it's good and that's all you have to do.
[01:26:13] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:26:13] Speaker B: Just helps with exposure.
[01:26:16] Speaker C: We really enjoy the feedback too, because it's like if you're liking something, we know that you, it's a lot like most of the comments that people get about their employees are all the negative comments. And every once in a while, if you're just like, this person was awesome, I'm going to write them a good comment.
[01:26:31] Speaker A: You know, it's nice to hear nice.
[01:26:33] Speaker C: Things about stuff that you do.
[01:26:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
Awesome.
Yeah. Yeah.
[01:26:39] Speaker C: Johnny, I think that just leaves me.
[01:26:41] Speaker A: To say, may the scorched be with you.
[01:26:46] Speaker B: And also with you, David.

[01:27:10] Speaker C: Do you have to, like, chisel? Does it come with a chisel to chisel it out, or do you have to scrape in there with your finger?
[01:27:14] Speaker B: No, let me pop this sucker open.
Oh, my God, there's so much cream of chicken soup. This is fucking amazing.
