[00:00:00] Speaker A: Thank you for supporting me through this journey.
[00:00:02] Speaker B: For those who were there at the very beginning, to those of you who.
[00:00:05] Speaker A: Joined at Spawn, issue 299, without you, none of this would have been possible.
Many thanks, and here's to the next 300 issues.
[00:00:15] Speaker B: Todd. Todd McFarlane. September 2019.
[00:00:52] Speaker A: Good evening, and welcome to the Mal bowls.
[00:00:56] Speaker B: This is regarding Spawn, the world's best spawn podcast.
[00:01:02] Speaker A: I am your co host, Jon Fisher.
[00:01:05] Speaker C: And I am your co host, David Williams.
[00:01:07] Speaker B: And Johnny, did you know.
[00:01:11] Speaker C: Did you know that we're making history today?
[00:01:14] Speaker B: We are making history. It's our, like, 33rd episode.
[00:01:19] Speaker A: That's what you're talking about, right?
[00:01:20] Speaker C: Oh, yes.
[00:01:20] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:01:21] Speaker C: It's record breaking. No two men have been able to record about sports spawn for 33 episodes.
[00:01:30] Speaker B: So that's not even true.
[00:01:32] Speaker A: That one guy. There's a spawn a day. They got like 75.
[00:01:35] Speaker C: Hey, hey, hey.
You take your semantics and you take them elsewhere where they'll be appreciated.
[00:01:42] Speaker B: Here.
[00:01:43] Speaker A: If he comes back, we're done for.
It's over.
[00:01:47] Speaker B: Oh, man. But no.
[00:01:48] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a good day for some spawn. It's actually a little warm today.
[00:01:54] Speaker B: Yeah, it is.
[00:01:54] Speaker A: It's getting hot in this closet. But I don't have Logan in here with me like I did last week, so we won't almost die of carbon monoxide poisoning from being locked in a closet and talking too much.
[00:02:06] Speaker C: Carbon monoxide is a logan made of burning petroleum.
[00:02:10] Speaker A: Okay, carbon dioxide. Whichever. He's a science fan.
[00:02:13] Speaker C: Dioxide. Dioxide. Yes, yes, yes.
[00:02:15] Speaker A: All right.
[00:02:16] Speaker C: Carbon monoxide is the one that you can't detect so that they have to add scent to, so that way you know that there's some gas there.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: Yeah, we had a leak one time in my house, and it was weird. I got all funky dunky.
[00:02:31] Speaker B: Oh, man. Oh, man.
[00:02:33] Speaker C: Yeah, it's. It's real weird.
[00:02:35] Speaker A: Our heater was giving it off or something.
[00:02:36] Speaker B: It was great. Oh, man. There's.
[00:02:38] Speaker C: There's lots of good. Good studies coming out about how terrible it is to actually burn gas items in your house.
[00:02:47] Speaker B: Like, it could lead to a whole.
[00:02:48] Speaker C: Bunch of breathing issues if you grow up around gas appliances. That's fun.
[00:02:53] Speaker B: Cool. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:02:56] Speaker A: Well, see, that's why we have you. You're the science guy. I know all the names of all the episodes of loss, and that Bob Ufric species is anzellian.
[00:03:07] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:03:08] Speaker C: Well, now we both know. We both know.
[00:03:10] Speaker A: Now we both know. Now the world knows.
[00:03:13] Speaker C: If I might spoil episode 17 of the Mandalorian. So it's what, season three? Episode one. But it's episode 17. Ah, whatever.
[00:03:23] Speaker A: It'll be for a month by, like a few weeks.
[00:03:25] Speaker B: By this point.
[00:03:28] Speaker C: At least half of the episode is just like.
It's just like somebody took their labyrinth action figures and their Star wars action figures and swished them together. I truly inspected, expected Jareth the Goblin king with a ginormous codpiece to step out of a cantina at some point.
[00:03:53] Speaker A: That's so funny you mentioned that. I just saw friend of the Pod.
[00:03:56] Speaker B: Host a movie in the musical Bran.
[00:03:59] Speaker A: Moorhead's show that they're in called floor show.
[00:04:01] Speaker B: And it's like a David Bowie kind of tribute show.
[00:04:07] Speaker A: I don't know what to say about it. It's a theater piece, but it's really good. And he starts out. The guy who does all the David Bowie stuff starts out as Jareth the Goblin King.
[00:04:18] Speaker B: It was really good.
[00:04:19] Speaker A: So nice.
[00:04:20] Speaker B: Nice. If you can time travel to see.
[00:04:24] Speaker A: Theater in Chicago, you should go see floor show playing at the Chopin theater in February, March.
[00:04:34] Speaker C: We're good at advertising.
[00:04:38] Speaker A: Yes. No, see, I won't suffocate myself with carbon dioxide.
[00:04:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:04:43] Speaker A: This week, because I'm solo.
[00:04:45] Speaker B: But I got a big, hefty.
[00:04:47] Speaker A: I feel like I got another person in the room with me because this issue of spawn, just the recovery is huge.
[00:04:53] Speaker C: It just sucks all the air out of everything around it, doesn't it?
[00:04:57] Speaker B: It does.
[00:04:57] Speaker A: It's exciting. It's funny. I put on the story.
[00:04:59] Speaker C: It takes your breath away.
[00:05:00] Speaker A: It does. It turned my day around yesterday. It really did. I was having a. I was being stressy, depressy. And I was like, oh, I gotta read these spawns. But not in a bad way. But I was like, okay, I should read these, you know, because I'm gonna be tired tonight. And I read it and it just made me in a much better mood because it was so awesome.
[00:05:17] Speaker B: Awesome. Well, that's.
[00:05:19] Speaker C: That's great because.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: Yeah, I know.
[00:05:20] Speaker C: Sometimes, like, even if it's something you enjoy doing, there are just certain times you're just like, man, I don't even wanna.
[00:05:27] Speaker B: I don't even wanna touch that. Even though I know it'll bring me joy. I just wanna turn on the Pluto.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: Tv bar rescue channel or the jeopardy. Channel. We've been watching a lot, actually.
[00:05:39] Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
[00:05:39] Speaker B: Nice. Nice.
[00:05:40] Speaker C: Mine is just doom scrolling, so I.
[00:05:44] Speaker B: Need to get out of that. Oh, no.
[00:05:46] Speaker C: Because, like, the entire time, you're just like, I should stop doing this. But then you just, like, keep sitting.
[00:05:51] Speaker B: There and you're like, yeah, I should stop doing this.
[00:05:54] Speaker A: Yeah, instead of doom scrolling, you need to spawn, scroll and read some spawn, which is what we're gonna do today.
[00:06:01] Speaker C: Or doom spawn, which is where I write fanfic or flat, maybe slash fic about the marine from doom and. And Al Simmons fighting aliens and kissing.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: A little bit and demons. Yeah, yeah, they could. They could.
[00:06:17] Speaker A: I mean, they.
[00:06:18] Speaker B: Yeah, they're both McFarlane action figures.
[00:06:21] Speaker A: There's a really cool doom slayer coming out.
[00:06:23] Speaker C: Yeah. Nice.
[00:06:24] Speaker A: So many cool McFarlane figures. We just had the winner showcase.
[00:06:27] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[00:06:28] Speaker B: Oh, I'm surprised.
[00:06:29] Speaker C: His. The advertising or the. The videos the toddfather put out were only, like, a minute and 15 seconds long. I was like, wait, what? Why are they not all five minutes long?
[00:06:41] Speaker B: I know.
[00:06:42] Speaker A: There was a great one where he was talking about the dragon. He was like, look at this dragon. We got this cool dragon. You got his wings. Oh, my God.
[00:06:47] Speaker B: It was great.
The McFarland Dragons.
[00:06:50] Speaker A: Those look cool. It's just like, I can't.
[00:06:52] Speaker B: I have to draw the line somewhere.
[00:06:55] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm lucky.
[00:06:56] Speaker A: I didn't really want any of the movie maniacs, because I used to love the movie maniacs line back in the day. I still have some of mine have my Edward scissorhands, I think, and couple other ones.
[00:07:05] Speaker B: But it was a really.
[00:07:06] Speaker A: That was, like, a really cool line. I'm glad they're bringing it back.
[00:07:09] Speaker B: Yeah, it's always.
[00:07:10] Speaker C: It's always good.
[00:07:12] Speaker B: Maybe, though.
[00:07:12] Speaker C: Maybe they'll throw a candyman in there.
[00:07:15] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:07:15] Speaker A: There was a candy man back in the day.
[00:07:17] Speaker B: Oh, man. Dang it.
[00:07:18] Speaker C: That means you can play it on.
[00:07:19] Speaker A: Ebay for, like, $200.
[00:07:21] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:07:21] Speaker C: Because they know they got the, like. Neca keeps putting them out.
[00:07:24] Speaker B: But, man, no, there's.
[00:07:27] Speaker A: I would. What would I want? I don't know.
[00:07:29] Speaker B: So many good ones.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: Welcome to. Regarding spawn.
[00:07:31] Speaker C: Welcome.
[00:07:32] Speaker A: Where we cover two issues. Spawn out of two issues of Spawn.
[00:07:36] Speaker B: Except when we don't.
[00:07:38] Speaker A: Today we're covering, like, it feels like we're covering, like, six issues of spawn.
[00:07:41] Speaker C: Oh, man. I think. I think by page number, it averages out to, like, three.
[00:07:46] Speaker B: But there's a.
[00:07:48] Speaker C: There's a lot of. There's a lot of meat in there. So.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: There's a lot of meat in there.
[00:07:51] Speaker A: But it moves fast. Yeah. So we do a classic and a.
[00:07:53] Speaker B: New one this week. Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum. We went all the way down that road.
[00:08:00] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:08:01] Speaker C: We followed the 300. We followed the hell brick road.
[00:08:05] Speaker A: We followed the hell brick road or.
[00:08:07] Speaker C: The hella brick road.
[00:08:08] Speaker A: And I was dressed up as the scarecrow.
[00:08:11] Speaker C: They should do a mashup of the wizard of Oz and spawn characters.
[00:08:17] Speaker B: I mean, they kind of are.
[00:08:18] Speaker A: The Wicked Witch is one of the movie maniacs. Figures. It's the one I considered buying. Cause I was like, I love that Wicked Witch of the west. Used to scare the shit out of me.
[00:08:26] Speaker B: Yeah, she was.
[00:08:28] Speaker C: But I mean, she was, she was justified. The house fell on her sister.
[00:08:32] Speaker A: I mean, they're all Warner Brothers properties. Yeah, I mean, they're probably both in ready player one. I just don't remember.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: I bet they are.
[00:08:39] Speaker A: Or space jam or whatever.
[00:08:41] Speaker C: Yeah, well, what we need, what we need is we need to get Mel Brooks to direct the spawn movie and then he can do the classic Mel Brooks taken us through the back, lots of all the other movies and his movie, and then he could just bring them in Willy nilly.
[00:08:57] Speaker B: We should get Mel Brooks to do.
[00:08:59] Speaker A: The Cygor movie, man.
[00:09:01] Speaker B: Just Mel Brooks, Cygor and Freak.
[00:09:04] Speaker C: Mel Brooks and the spy, ant man.
[00:09:05] Speaker A: And the wasp, but Cygor and freak.
[00:09:10] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[00:09:10] Speaker B: Funny.
[00:09:11] Speaker A: It reminded me of when we went to the, well, listeners, we went to.
[00:09:17] Speaker B: The Alamo drafthouse for my birthday with.
[00:09:20] Speaker A: Some friends, and David was there.
[00:09:22] Speaker C: Johnny has a birthday. And it just happened. And so that reminded me.
[00:09:27] Speaker A: Al Madras house shows like old
[email protected].
[00:09:30] Speaker B: Huh? What?
[00:09:31] Speaker C: I'm telling people to send you happy birthday messages to the email.
[00:09:34] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, send me happy birthday messages.
No, they show, like, trailers that are related to the movie. And we were seeing 1980 one's possession and they showed a the fly trailer. And that reminded me because it said Brooks film.
[00:09:49] Speaker B: That was one of the two non.
[00:09:51] Speaker A: Comedies that Mel Brooks produced.
[00:09:53] Speaker B: Oh, nice.
[00:09:54] Speaker A: He really liked David Cronenberg's early movies.
[00:09:56] Speaker B: And he produced the fly and he.
[00:09:58] Speaker A: Produced the Elephant man.
[00:10:01] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:10:02] Speaker A: Were two Mel Brooks non comedies that he made and he, like, wanted them to hide his name. He's like, hide it as deep in the credits as you can. I don't want it to, like, delegitimize your movie.
[00:10:11] Speaker B: But does it?
[00:10:12] Speaker C: Does it also, because, you know, famously, famously, Mel Brooks always has, you know.
[00:10:18] Speaker B: Alongside the best boy credit, he always.
[00:10:22] Speaker C: Has the worst boy credit. And Hitler is always the worst boy.
[00:10:26] Speaker B: In every, every Mel Brooks movie.
[00:10:28] Speaker C: I wonder, as a producer, Hitler is also the worst boy on those two films.
[00:10:34] Speaker A: It's probably the Brundle fly.
He's the worst boy. He wants to become an insect politician and he tries to eat his girlfriend.
[00:10:43] Speaker B: Boo.
[00:10:45] Speaker A: Well, no, Hitler's worse than that. That's true.
[00:10:47] Speaker B: Yeah, it's always a fun, it's a.
[00:10:50] Speaker C: Fun thing to see best boy and.
[00:10:52] Speaker A: Worst boy, it's like the fake shemps for Sam Raimi.
Whenever someone substitutes, like, a hand or.
[00:11:01] Speaker B: A foot to be someone else, it's.
[00:11:03] Speaker A: A credit in the credits. It's fake Shemp.
Because there were a bunch of three susja shorts that were made after Shemp had died, and so they weren't completed, but they'd filmed some of it, and so they had to use, like, a fake shemp.
And that's where that comes from.
[00:11:20] Speaker C: Man, I love knowing little dumb jokes that it's like, I have a friend.
[00:11:26] Speaker B: Who, back when he used to give.
[00:11:29] Speaker C: Poster presentations for science stuff, he would always make a, like, two pixel by two pixel Godzilla, and he would hide it somewhere in his poster.
And so you could always just go.
[00:11:41] Speaker B: Up to him and you'd be like.
[00:11:42] Speaker C: Where'S the godzilla on this one? And he'd be like, it's right here, man.
[00:11:47] Speaker B: That's funny.
[00:11:47] Speaker C: That's great.
[00:11:48] Speaker B: I love things that are just for you.
[00:11:51] Speaker A: Things that are for me are King Spawn as well, in addition to Spawn. So we're doing Spawn 300 and King Spawn 18.
[00:12:00] Speaker C: I forgot that we didn't continue the.
[00:12:03] Speaker A: That's why I'm here, David.
[00:12:05] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. You're keeping us on track.
[00:12:06] Speaker A: Keep us on track. No, we were talking about the road to 300, and we got on that yellow brick road.
[00:12:11] Speaker C: Ah, yeah, yeah.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: I was the squirrel.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: We just spiraled out, but it's all.
[00:12:15] Speaker A: Connected because we brought it all back around with the McFarlane toys, the movie maniacs. So, yeah, it's weird how things sync up.
[00:12:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:24] Speaker C: It's almost like there's a conspiracy afoot.
It's almost like Mark has found someone we know and reasonably trust has caused all of the bad things that are.
[00:12:36] Speaker B: Currently happening, but they're the good things.
[00:12:39] Speaker A: That are currently happening. Like an evil dead movie in a.
[00:12:42] Speaker B: Wicked witch figure and king Spawn being.
[00:12:46] Speaker A: Good and spawn being good.
[00:12:48] Speaker B: It's a great time to be spawn. Spawn, man.
[00:12:52] Speaker A: A span fan.
[00:12:53] Speaker B: What was it?
[00:12:54] Speaker A: Span fan.
[00:12:55] Speaker C: Well, that was. Yeah, that was span fan art or span fawn art.
[00:12:58] Speaker B: That's what it was.
[00:13:00] Speaker A: I love span fawn, and I'm a span fawn.
[00:13:03] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[00:13:04] Speaker A: Well, as we see from this issue, Spawn is no faun because he is 300 issues old.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:11] Speaker A: And the first one recovering here, spawn 300. If you don't know or weren't part of the gang yet, it is September 2019. It came out.
I wasn't buying comics at the time. I know you were, David. Do you kind of remember it coming out?
[00:13:25] Speaker C: Yes, I was. Unfortunately, not buying spawn comics at the time, but that was the beginning of my trying to do weekly polls, and I have not gone back.
[00:13:37] Speaker B: I've never looked back.
[00:13:40] Speaker C: It's as dangerous as drugs, comic books, but they don't have as much potential to ruin your life.
[00:13:47] Speaker B: So don't do drugs.
[00:13:51] Speaker C: Or at least the bad ones.
[00:13:52] Speaker B: Don't do drugs.
[00:13:53] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm at the point of my journey where I'm learning to scale back.
[00:13:57] Speaker B: And what I can do and maybe.
[00:13:59] Speaker A: Don'T subscribe to everything, even if I like it. Cause sometimes you wanna control how much you're spending.
[00:14:03] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:14:04] Speaker A: And, like, if you're subscribing to a lot, sometimes you just get that week where it just dumps you with, like, a $100. Damn it.
[00:14:10] Speaker C: Yeah, it's. It's. It's real fun, because at the beginning, you're always like, what is going on? What is happening? What do I do?
[00:14:17] Speaker A: And then, like, I'm gonna start buying all of these.
[00:14:19] Speaker C: And then, like, you start learning about shit. You're like, do you know about this?
[00:14:22] Speaker A: I gotta read this.
[00:14:23] Speaker C: Do you know about this? I gotta read this.
[00:14:25] Speaker B: And then, yeah, then you kind of.
[00:14:28] Speaker A: Even out a little bit, and you.
[00:14:29] Speaker B: Find out what you like and, you know.
[00:14:32] Speaker C: And I'll bet what you can wait for. The problem is that the advertising is just so. They're so good at advertising, these stories.
[00:14:38] Speaker B: Like, anytime I pick up a DC.
[00:14:41] Speaker C: Miniseries, there's always, like, three advertisements that it's like, oh, shit, I gotta pick that up when it comes out.
[00:14:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:14:49] Speaker A: I did my first experiment of doing. I just wanted to. Once, just to say I did.
[00:14:53] Speaker B: I probably won't do it again, but.
[00:14:56] Speaker A: I decided to follow the Lazarus planet stuff just for fun.
[00:15:00] Speaker B: Just mainly because I went to that.
[00:15:02] Speaker A: Challenger sale, and they had, like, the first three one shots of it, like, just there on sale.
[00:15:06] Speaker B: So I bought them.
[00:15:07] Speaker A: And it's been fun. Like, I got some new characters I like. I'm gonna follow Zatanna. Like, I like her.
[00:15:14] Speaker B: I like a couple other characters.
[00:15:17] Speaker A: And it was just fun to kind of follow that, but I don't think it's something I'm really gonna. I even had to not follow everything. Cause it was like, oh, you gotta read Monkey Prince and Wonder Woman. I'm like, okay, I'm not going that far. Okay, I'm not reading Wonder Woman 1000, all right?
[00:15:31] Speaker C: How dare you not be a completionist, Johnny? You have to read all 1000 Wonder Womans before you can get to that one. So you can read the thing. You know, you don't have two people.
[00:15:39] Speaker B: No, no, no.
[00:15:40] Speaker A: But it's just funny to me. Cause it's like. It's like earth shattering changes the universe forever. And you know that it's gonna be, like, not really that big a deal, but it's comics. I do love that new Superman, though. That was really good.
[00:15:51] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:15:51] Speaker C: It is solid.
[00:15:52] Speaker B: It is very good.
[00:15:54] Speaker C: I mean, but it will be Earth.
[00:15:55] Speaker B: Shattering for those people who.
[00:15:58] Speaker C: It's their first event.
[00:15:59] Speaker B: Like, you know, all of the events.
[00:16:01] Speaker C: Basically do the same thing. They just sort of clean up the timeline for a little bit.
[00:16:05] Speaker B: But, you know. Yeah, no, it was cool to me.
[00:16:07] Speaker A: It was fun to follow it.
[00:16:08] Speaker C: In 30 years, we'll have people talking about how Lazarus Planet was something that they fucking loved, and it was the first thing that got them into comics. Yeah, it's fine. There's no worries.
Comics gonna be comicking.
[00:16:19] Speaker A: And so this is kind of tough. I feel like I'm avoiding getting into it. Cause we always start with the covers here, and I think Spawn 300 has about 300 covers.
[00:16:32] Speaker C: At least. At least I've got.
[00:16:35] Speaker A: This is where we need, like. And now at the collection desk, we cut to spawn hunter or spawn safari or petru Spawn. And then they can list off every single cover. And, like.
[00:16:47] Speaker B: But that's the thing is, like, these big McFarlane ones, like, even as of.
[00:16:52] Speaker A: Two days ago, he released, like, three new Batman spawn variants that came with. If you spent a certain amount at the store.
[00:16:58] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:16:59] Speaker A: And it's like, you can't even keep up with it. There's so many.
[00:17:01] Speaker C: Yeah. And they're the new. The action figure photos.
[00:17:05] Speaker B: Yeah, it's gonna be fun.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: I spent enough. Cause I bought that. I bought that wave pack they have for, like, 80 something bucks where you got. You save, like, $15 on getting all three of them.
[00:17:14] Speaker B: And I got the.
[00:17:16] Speaker A: Whatever, the lowest tier of that.
[00:17:19] Speaker B: I'll have another if she. I'll have the action figure copy, which is funny.
[00:17:22] Speaker A: I love that.
[00:17:23] Speaker B: Yeah, it's real good.
[00:17:24] Speaker A: But, yeah, there's so many covers. And you said there's even an exclusive digital cover.
[00:17:29] Speaker C: Yeah. Cause the digital edition I have literally says digital edition on the front of it. There's, like, different magic sparkle on Spawn's fists is what makes it different from the regular print cover.
[00:17:43] Speaker A: What is the actual, like, normal a cover of this.
[00:17:47] Speaker B: So it's just.
[00:17:48] Speaker C: It's spawn standing there, and he's got, you know, his.
[00:17:52] Speaker B: One of his fish fists clenched, and.
[00:17:55] Speaker C: It'S got, like, a cross of air coming at or of light coming out of his wrist.
And it says spawn 300 history making. And it's the McFarland cover.
[00:18:07] Speaker B: His.
[00:18:09] Speaker A: The toad father.
[00:18:10] Speaker C: The toad father.
[00:18:13] Speaker B: So that is the primary, primary cover. Okay. Because I've got three. Well, I got one and a half.
[00:18:25] Speaker A: Well, I guess I got two, because.
[00:18:26] Speaker B: I actually, David, I was like, I.
[00:18:29] Speaker A: Bet there's some 300s in that big old box of spawn we bought that we still haven't sorted out. And there were two.
[00:18:36] Speaker B: Oh, nice.
[00:18:37] Speaker A: And there was the one that I have already.
[00:18:41] Speaker B: So I guess might as well do.
[00:18:43] Speaker A: The covers we actually have. So you have the digital cover, which is just like a sparkly version of the main cover.
[00:18:48] Speaker C: It's the main cover, except for the cross of light isn't coming out of spawns wrist. And it also looks like it's a.
[00:18:56] Speaker B: Little bit brighter, like the color saturate or the.
[00:19:00] Speaker C: The shadows aren't quite as deep.
[00:19:02] Speaker A: So I've got the one I read. That I got.
[00:19:04] Speaker B: First that I read, oh, probably about.
[00:19:06] Speaker A: A year ago now, maybe a little.
[00:19:08] Speaker B: Over a year ago, when I had.
[00:19:09] Speaker A: No idea what was going on.
[00:19:11] Speaker B: It's the great Cthulhu cover, and it's.
[00:19:14] Speaker A: Spawn holding a sword.
[00:19:16] Speaker B: And he's like, over some magma, some lava.
[00:19:20] Speaker A: And his left hand is, like, shooting green.
[00:19:23] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that's necro energy.
[00:19:26] Speaker C: Oh, man, that is a great cover.
[00:19:28] Speaker B: Yeah, it's really cool.
[00:19:29] Speaker A: So that's the one I got my friend, friend of the pod who you got to meet.
[00:19:33] Speaker B: Actually, Eloy got this for me at Comic Con. Cause he was like, hey, I'm going to comic Con.
[00:19:40] Speaker A: I couldn't go that year. And I was like, I just got into spawn.
[00:19:43] Speaker B: And I was like, uh, if they.
[00:19:45] Speaker A: Have spawns universe or spawns 300, give me that. And he got me both of those.
[00:19:48] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:19:49] Speaker B: So we got those.
[00:19:51] Speaker A: But then in our box, a spawn that we bought from our buddy over in Indiana.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: Yeah. We got. It's a sketch cover, and it has.
[00:20:02] Speaker A: All the spawns on it.
[00:20:04] Speaker B: Oh, is it the Jerome Opegna sketch cover?
[00:20:07] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:20:08] Speaker C: Nice. Yeah, that is the COVID I would want. Cause we spoke about that one the last time.
[00:20:14] Speaker A: What's yours?
[00:20:15] Speaker B: What's yours?
[00:20:16] Speaker C: Mine's. Mine's the digital edition one. So it's.
[00:20:19] Speaker A: No, I'm saying. Well, it's yours. Like, is this from the box? You can have it.
[00:20:22] Speaker C: Oh, hell, yeah. Oh, okay.
[00:20:23] Speaker B: Nice. All right. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah.
[00:20:26] Speaker A: I was thinking it shall be yours.
[00:20:27] Speaker C: Oh, nice.
[00:20:29] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:20:29] Speaker A: And then the other spawn 300 I.
[00:20:31] Speaker B: Have is spawn in front of a stained glass. You'll love this one too.
[00:20:38] Speaker A: It's spawned in front of the stained glass. This is by.
[00:20:40] Speaker C: Oh, it's the. The J. Scott Campbell.
[00:20:43] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:20:43] Speaker A: And it's, like, in the stained glass you have. Oh, yeah, it is.
[00:20:46] Speaker B: Cause I can tell by his very.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: Well drawn Jessica there.
[00:20:50] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:20:50] Speaker C: There's a Sam and twitch and an overt.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: There's a Sam twitch.
Medieval spawn, like, classic. Look at medium spawn.
[00:20:58] Speaker C: I like that. The cloud is the top face.
[00:21:01] Speaker A: Yeah, wanda, that's great.
[00:21:03] Speaker B: It's great. That's a great one.
[00:21:05] Speaker A: That was in the box as well. So we got those two.
[00:21:07] Speaker C: Oh, hell, yeah.
[00:21:08] Speaker A: And then the Capulo's the one I've been reading. And, man, this is just holding them, man.
[00:21:12] Speaker B: This is substantial book to hold on.
[00:21:15] Speaker C: The digital version, it takes me, like, a full minute to page from the front to the back, because there's just so many pages.
[00:21:24] Speaker A: We pop it open, and I love that there's just, like, this giant spawn 300.
[00:21:29] Speaker C: Yeah. It's a two page spread for the title.
[00:21:32] Speaker B: And you get Todd McFarlane, Greg Capullo.
[00:21:35] Speaker A: Cause he does chapter one. Todd McFarlane's the artist for chapter two. J. Scott Campbell's for chapter three.
Jason Sean Alexander for chapter four.
Jerome Opegna for chapter five.
So many fun artists.
[00:21:50] Speaker C: And Scott Snyder writing for chapter two, the one that the Todd father is drawing.
[00:21:55] Speaker A: And this is his first interior pages in a very long time. Maybe his last in a very long time, actually.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: Well, I don't think he did more.
[00:22:04] Speaker C: If you remember Johnny, he got lazy, so that's.
[00:22:07] Speaker A: He got lazy.
[00:22:08] Speaker B: How dare he?
[00:22:09] Speaker A: Crazy baby.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: He's a baby.
[00:22:12] Speaker A: He's a lazy baby. He's a lazy boss baby.
[00:22:15] Speaker C: He's just.
[00:22:16] Speaker B: He's just over in his office, bluing.
[00:22:19] Speaker C: Himself with his avatar figures and trying to come up with exciting ways to describe dragons, you know, lazy stuff.
[00:22:28] Speaker B: For those of you who don't know.
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Rob Bleifeld, every time. I don't have to explain.
[00:22:31] Speaker B: Every time Rob bliefeld called the Toddler Farland lazy, just, you know, it's calling.
[00:22:38] Speaker C: Calling Rob Liefeld that on his shit will never go unappreciated by me, at least. So it's true.
[00:22:45] Speaker A: He's probably just mad he wasn't part of Spawn 300.
[00:22:48] Speaker B: I would be. Yeah.
[00:22:49] Speaker A: I love that we're getting that local man. That's such a good parody of all that Rob Liefeld stuff. That's gonna be great.
[00:22:54] Speaker C: Yeah, local man is great.
It cracks me up. I like how it was double double sided, so you could start from either end.
[00:23:04] Speaker B: And it was real fun.
[00:23:06] Speaker A: Get the image.
[00:23:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:09] Speaker A: There were two swan references in it.
[00:23:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:12] Speaker A: He said, I saved the world from Albolgia twice. And he said, and then whenever somebody.
[00:23:18] Speaker B: Kills the villain brutally, it's left in.
[00:23:23] Speaker A: His office, like Billy Kincaid.
[00:23:25] Speaker B: I like that.
[00:23:26] Speaker C: We don't know all of his skills.
[00:23:29] Speaker B: We just know, like, a little bit.
[00:23:32] Speaker C: So it's a fun journey. It's a fun journey. I like the being thrown into the middle of it and kind of not.
[00:23:37] Speaker B: Knowing what's going on, and everyone's kind.
[00:23:39] Speaker A: Of mad at him.
[00:23:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:40] Speaker C: It's like, what are you mad at him for?
[00:23:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:44] Speaker A: Even his own parents are like.
[00:23:48] Speaker B: There'S just so many great artists in this.
[00:23:51] Speaker A: It's really great idea. It's action packed.
[00:23:54] Speaker C: Like you're very fond of saying, Johnny.
[00:23:57] Speaker B: It's a hoot.
[00:23:58] Speaker A: It's a hoot and a half. It's two hoots.
[00:24:00] Speaker B: Two hoots. Two hoots and a hay.
[00:24:03] Speaker C: Two hoots and a hay.
[00:24:04] Speaker B: Man, that's a. So.
[00:24:07] Speaker C: So, hey, hey, why don't we get into it so that way?
[00:24:09] Speaker B: You know, I have a feeling that.
[00:24:11] Speaker C: We'Re dragging our feet because we want.
[00:24:13] Speaker A: To do it as hard as I've been.
[00:24:14] Speaker C: We want to do it justice. But, I mean, we just got to get in there if we want to. If we want to.
[00:24:18] Speaker A: Even the spawn power meter, super low.
[00:24:22] Speaker C: Jesus Christ, this meter is so low, 0047. I don't even think he can light a necro cigarette with that.
[00:24:30] Speaker B: Jesus. No, he can't do anything, man.
[00:24:34] Speaker C: He can't even pick his necronose.
[00:24:37] Speaker B: And you get some Greg Capullo pencils here.
[00:24:41] Speaker A: You can tell because of the great chiseled good faces and hands and people.
[00:24:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:47] Speaker A: And it's kind of like a little.
[00:24:48] Speaker B: Short story about this family that gets murdered. Yeah.
[00:24:54] Speaker C: So there's some bullshit going on in the world and some nonsense with, you know, people being infected by kind of leakage through the dead zones.
[00:25:05] Speaker B: And this is a story about someone.
[00:25:08] Speaker C: Who gets infected with some leakage through a dead zone.
[00:25:11] Speaker A: And it's fun because, like, a lot of it reminds me of, like, the nineties spawn, where they'd have, like, a short story where something, like, fucked up and gory would happen.
[00:25:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:19] Speaker A: And it reminds me of that. So it's a nice callback. Like, you get a little kind of self contained story here in addition to all the other stuff.
[00:25:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:26] Speaker A: So I thought that was pretty cool.
[00:25:28] Speaker B: But, yeah, you have, every summer, the.
[00:25:30] Speaker A: Johnson clan comes together for their reunion, and they're just chilling, you know, having a good family reunion.
[00:25:35] Speaker C: It looks like, yeah, I mean, everything's pleasant.
[00:25:38] Speaker B: You got, like, the.
[00:25:40] Speaker C: It's the dad version of dueling pianos. You got dueling grills going on.
[00:25:44] Speaker B: You can tell those dudes are.
[00:25:47] Speaker C: They're trying to make it a competition about who can burn the meat less.
[00:25:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know, there's some tables.
[00:25:55] Speaker C: Of conversation happening and there's some kids.
[00:25:57] Speaker B: Running around, and then we got, you know, the punk.
[00:26:00] Speaker C: The punk adolescents who are too cool for family reunions.
[00:26:04] Speaker A: The millennials, as they're called. Later.
[00:26:06] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Just hanging off, being moody, man.
[00:26:10] Speaker C: This David was the fucking moody adolescent who didn't want to be a part of any big thing.
[00:26:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:26:20] Speaker C: Shocking. I would go away from everybody and lay in a hammock and that. I was writing profound poetry, but it was some garbage.
[00:26:27] Speaker B: So this kind of hit me. This hit me right in the feels.
Yeah.
[00:26:33] Speaker A: He calls his family, he says, a bunch of rednecks, they're trained dogs.
[00:26:37] Speaker B: Yeah, family reunions are fun.
[00:26:40] Speaker C: Yeah, we never did family reunions, so family's not big enough for that.
But I've been in situations kind of like this before where it's just, you know.
[00:26:51] Speaker B: Yeah, no, I know what you mean.
[00:26:52] Speaker C: It's you're hanging out with your parents and your parents friends, and you don't think the same way as your parents friends. And it's like they. They think it's fun to make fun of you for caring about shit. And it's like, what?
[00:27:02] Speaker B: Why?
[00:27:03] Speaker C: Why are we getting into this?
[00:27:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I know what you mean. So that always is like, okay, it's a little exhausting.
[00:27:11] Speaker A: That's what kind of happens here.
[00:27:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:14] Speaker C: And so they. They speed away and they.
[00:27:18] Speaker B: Ford Mustang after.
[00:27:21] Speaker C: After a confrontation with. Confrontation with Uncle Murray.
Uncle Murray.
[00:27:29] Speaker A: Uncle Murray's a jerk. He's just a big lug head.
[00:27:32] Speaker B: And he comes in and he's just like, you know, poking at him.
[00:27:37] Speaker A: He's like, oh, you're supposed to be like a punk rocker or something. It's like, what the heck?
[00:27:43] Speaker C: He's a man, right? He could take it.
[00:27:46] Speaker A: So what's all the kid? Tattoos and piercings? Some kind of millennial thing?
[00:27:51] Speaker C: Some new Internet sensation?
[00:27:54] Speaker A: I look at some quotes, it's classic Todd. Father.
[00:27:58] Speaker B: Oh, man.
I mean, this is America in a nutshell. You got the punk millennials and the red hatted, barbecuing, gun buying.
[00:28:10] Speaker C: Oh, man, go buy another gun.
[00:28:12] Speaker A: I guess I am an old man. Cause, like, I do a lot of times, sometimes see stuff from young people on the Internet. I'm like, just go get a job.
It just means I'm old though.
[00:28:21] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:23] Speaker C: I do like how his idea of an insult is, why don't you barbecue some more and buy another garden?
What sort of moral value is there placed on barbecue and stuff?
[00:28:32] Speaker A: Yeah, what's wrong with that? Everyone likes barbecue, I thought.
[00:28:36] Speaker C: Yeah, well, at least everybody who eats meat likes barbecue.
[00:28:38] Speaker B: Well, I mean, even a vegan, you.
[00:28:40] Speaker A: Can do vegan barbecue.
You could grill up, grill some corn. I mean, I consider barbecue like cooking.
[00:28:48] Speaker C: The act, the action barbecue, not the.
[00:28:52] Speaker A: Yeah, not like this type of food.
[00:28:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm gonna barbecue up some corn.
[00:28:58] Speaker A: Pretty good, man.
[00:28:59] Speaker C: Grilled corn is corn in general.
[00:29:02] Speaker B: Johnny, I'm gonna a hot, hot take here.
[00:29:05] Speaker C: Corn is good.
[00:29:06] Speaker A: Good, yeah, corn is good.
[00:29:08] Speaker C: Corn is real good.
[00:29:09] Speaker A: Shit like that little kid that went viral. I love corn.
[00:29:12] Speaker B: It's real good.
[00:29:13] Speaker C: Apparently the thing to do as a high schooler in like rural Illinois, so.
[00:29:23] Speaker B: Like, over by kids who grew up in Urbana champaign, they would always, the.
[00:29:31] Speaker C: Summer job is shucking corn in the fields. And apparently if you do that, you're literally allowed to eat all of the corn that you want. And so I know a whole bunch of people that grew up doing that and they're like, you gotta get the sweet corn and you gotta eat it raw.
[00:29:47] Speaker B: Don't cook it at all.
[00:29:48] Speaker C: And apparently it's amazing.
[00:29:50] Speaker B: But that sounds good cause, yeah, it's.
[00:29:52] Speaker C: Just like you just tired in the middle of the summer from your job and you just break off a bit.
[00:29:56] Speaker B: Of corn and just eat it.
[00:29:58] Speaker A: So they're, they break off and run away and they're like, we're gonna do something to get them really to talk about.
[00:30:05] Speaker B: And it's like, oh, no. Ominous.
[00:30:08] Speaker C: Ominous. Yeah. I was thinking. What were you thinking they were gonna do, Johnny? I was thinking they were gonna do.
[00:30:12] Speaker B: Some not good stuff.
[00:30:15] Speaker A: Oh, I thought they were gonna start become twitch streamers.
[00:30:21] Speaker C: I'll show you.
[00:30:22] Speaker B: I'll sell my feet pics. Yeah.
[00:30:24] Speaker A: Cause he says, get a job. I thought he was gonna like, go get a job.
[00:30:26] Speaker C: I thought he's gonna be like, I'm.
[00:30:27] Speaker A: Working at target, motherfucker. I showed your ass.
[00:30:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:30:31] Speaker C: Then we cut back to later that evening and all the old people are playing poker.
[00:30:37] Speaker B: I love, I love, I love this.
[00:30:40] Speaker C: Guy sticking his tongue out, trying to figure out if he, what he wants to do with his cards. That's such a great little.
[00:30:48] Speaker A: Andy has like two people helping him.
[00:30:52] Speaker C: Oh, man, that would be me. Playing cards at any sort of function, being like, man, I suck at this. You want to help me?
[00:31:00] Speaker B: So they're wondering where, you know, where did Brett go? And.
[00:31:04] Speaker A: Yeah, it's probably his, you know, he got a bet on poker.
[00:31:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:07] Speaker A: And then we get a toilet joke, of course. Thank you, toad. Father. Todd.
[00:31:11] Speaker C: Father.
[00:31:12] Speaker B: Yeah, you're following the toilet.
[00:31:13] Speaker C: And then the reality is a little. A little less funny than toilet joke.
[00:31:21] Speaker A: It's so annoying when someone says that when I like the dad. That's such a dad thing to do. What, did you fall in? It's like, no, I said take a massive shit, dude. What do you think I was doing in there?
[00:31:29] Speaker C: So. Well, maybe they think you're dead in.
[00:31:32] Speaker B: A literal bath of blood.
[00:31:35] Speaker A: Hopefully not with a rubber ducky and everything.
[00:31:37] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[00:31:37] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:31:39] Speaker A: So someone's just going through the house, wiping everybody out, wiping out the whole family.
[00:31:43] Speaker C: The old folks being like, oh, hey, sweetheart.
[00:31:45] Speaker B: And stab, I guess. Stab, punch. Blood everywhere.
[00:31:51] Speaker A: It's like the beginning of hereditary up in here. Not hereditary.
[00:31:54] Speaker B: Midsummer. That's what I meant. Oh, yeah.
Not hereditary.
[00:31:59] Speaker A: I meant Midsummer where the old people die in the bed.
[00:32:01] Speaker B: You ever see Midsummer? Yeah. Yes.
[00:32:04] Speaker C: Yes, I have. I felt the. The beginning of midsummer is very weird.
[00:32:12] Speaker A: It's fucking brutal. It goes like. It's almost. I know some people, like, they couldn't.
[00:32:16] Speaker B: Come back from it. I.
[00:32:18] Speaker C: You can.
[00:32:18] Speaker B: The. The movie would be just fine without it.
[00:32:21] Speaker C: Like, they could just reference something happened in the past.
[00:32:25] Speaker B: It was. Yeah, it was.
[00:32:27] Speaker C: Midsommar is a weird. A weird movie.
[00:32:29] Speaker B: I like it a lot.
[00:32:31] Speaker A: Sounds like you maybe have some reservations.
[00:32:33] Speaker B: No, I just.
[00:32:34] Speaker A: It is a weird movie.
[00:32:35] Speaker C: I just didn't, like.
[00:32:36] Speaker A: Very uncomfortable.
[00:32:37] Speaker C: Yeah, I didn't. I didn't.
[00:32:38] Speaker B: I didn't like the beginning, but I.
[00:32:41] Speaker C: Liked the movie as a whole.
[00:32:44] Speaker B: It's real fucked up.
[00:32:45] Speaker C: So I will never watch it again because Jesus fucking Christ, I was.
[00:32:50] Speaker B: It was one of those that just like, tightens you up and then you're.
[00:32:54] Speaker C: Just like, the whole time.
[00:32:56] Speaker A: It's like a white knuckle. Yeah.
[00:32:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:32:59] Speaker A: It's funny because, like, when you saw in the theater at the end, like, people started laughing. It's just like you needed some kind of release. Like, people were just like, ugh. Like you just started making noises.
[00:33:07] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just.
[00:33:08] Speaker A: Cause it was like, so tense.
[00:33:10] Speaker C: It's 2 hours of uncomfortable, but it's good. You know, I know people who find it to be absolute garbage. I don't find it to be absolute garbage.
[00:33:20] Speaker B: That's a good movie. Yes.
[00:33:22] Speaker A: His movies can be pretty divisive. I know people that, like, hated hereditary.
[00:33:28] Speaker C: Man, hereditary is such a good movie, though.
[00:33:31] Speaker B: Yeah, I love.
[00:33:32] Speaker A: Hereditary. I can hate it. It's got everything you could want.
[00:33:35] Speaker B: Oh, man. It's got.
[00:33:37] Speaker C: It's got Toni Collette. That's all I ever need.
[00:33:40] Speaker B: It's true.
[00:33:41] Speaker C: That's all I ever need. That fucking.
[00:33:43] Speaker A: Oh, well, speaking of, the family's getting wiped out. This is pretty much. This is hereditary here.
[00:33:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:49] Speaker A: Family gets wiped out by.
[00:33:51] Speaker B: You think.
[00:33:51] Speaker A: I mean, obviously you're meant to think.
[00:33:53] Speaker B: That it's our millennials, you know, coming back to.
[00:33:57] Speaker A: But we all know millennials weapon of choice is guns. So they carve barbecue into his chest. Like, what a dis barbecue?
[00:34:08] Speaker C: So, yeah, he slips on the. He slips on the. He finds the dead body in the bathtub. He slips on some blood in the rubber ducky. He impales his head on a towel hook.
[00:34:17] Speaker B: Then we get a stabbity stabbity stab.
[00:34:19] Speaker C: The barbecue carved into the chest.
[00:34:23] Speaker B: And then we get an hour later.
[00:34:26] Speaker C: And it's our millennial punks sitting in a car.
And we learned that it wasn't them what just did the carnage.
[00:34:33] Speaker B: They just went and eloped. They got married.
[00:34:37] Speaker C: And as a person who did a courthouse marriage, I can guarantee you that this barbecue probably happened on a Saturday afternoon. Ain't no court gonna be open on a Saturday afternoon.
[00:34:47] Speaker B: Come on.
[00:34:48] Speaker A: Yeah, they're not close to Vegas. They're in Nebraska.
If they're in Vegas, you could get married, like, any time of day.
[00:34:56] Speaker C: Yeah, 24 hours. And you can get married by Elvis.
[00:35:00] Speaker A: You can get married by, like, probably pennywise the clown.
[00:35:03] Speaker B: Probably.
[00:35:04] Speaker A: You get married by a Tetris piece.
[00:35:07] Speaker C: That would be a poop emoji.
[00:35:10] Speaker A: I'm sure you can if you ask for it. If you bring the costume, I'm sure they'll do it.
[00:35:13] Speaker C: I mean, every once in a while, the taco Bell does a contest for.
[00:35:19] Speaker B: People to get, like, there's one super.
[00:35:23] Speaker C: Big taco bell wedding that they will do at the Taco Bell Cantina in Las Vegas.
[00:35:28] Speaker B: Really?
[00:35:29] Speaker C: And they'll pay for you to have your wedding.
[00:35:30] Speaker A: I wish I was married to Taco Bell.
[00:35:32] Speaker C: And that would be. That would be awesome to have the Taco Bell wedding.
[00:35:35] Speaker A: But we took. So it wasn't them. They were getting married. And the person that killed was Lisa. She pulled the old Halloween on him. Michael Myers. It's the kid.
[00:35:46] Speaker B: It's the little kid that at the.
[00:35:49] Speaker C: Beginning, before the confrontation between Justin and Uncle Mary, there's a little girl that comes up and is like, jenny. And Jenny says, hey, Lisa, I'll play with you in a minute. And then never plays with her. So we got a child scorned.
[00:36:02] Speaker A: This is.
[00:36:02] Speaker B: She should have played with her. Yeah. And then we get our friends.
[00:36:08] Speaker A: We need a theme song for the three pundits. Like a da da da da da.
[00:36:11] Speaker B: Da da da da.
[00:36:11] Speaker C: Like, we could do that. We could.
[00:36:14] Speaker B: You could just.
Yeah, yeah, we should do it.
[00:36:18] Speaker A: I just got that in there.
[00:36:19] Speaker B: Little.
[00:36:20] Speaker C: Little typewriter noise in the background.
[00:36:22] Speaker B: Well, I just.
[00:36:22] Speaker A: I want to get Brian to write one so it's not in case I get, like, copyright struck.
I don't want MsNBc coming after me.
[00:36:29] Speaker C: You don't want Rachel Maddow breaking down your door?
[00:36:32] Speaker B: No.
[00:36:34] Speaker A: Anderson Cooper, though, he's a handsome devil. He can break down my door.
[00:36:38] Speaker C: So, yeah, we get the overview of.
[00:36:41] Speaker B: Kind of what's happening.
[00:36:43] Speaker C: So CRN gives us just, like, a global view. Infernow is, like, literally focusing on the massacre that we just, we just witnessed.
[00:36:54] Speaker A: Why is the channel called the third pundits on d Sim on the record?
[00:36:59] Speaker B: Well, I mean, I guess that's just.
[00:37:00] Speaker C: Whoever he could find to hire him for this week, because.
[00:37:03] Speaker B: D sim, d sim, d sim.
[00:37:06] Speaker A: Brock, the shock fennel, our man.
[00:37:08] Speaker B: So let's see.
[00:37:09] Speaker A: CRn, cable Republican network. I don't know what that would be. Cable reporting network. But, yeah, so basically we get a Chicago shout out.
[00:37:18] Speaker B: Hey, yeah, there was a.
[00:37:20] Speaker A: There's a fire in Chicago where a bunch of people died. They say, yeah, there's a fire. There's a fire not too far from my house the other day.
[00:37:27] Speaker B: Oh, man, there was a.
[00:37:28] Speaker C: There was a fire at, like, a high rise down on the south side.
[00:37:34] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that's right. And it was.
[00:37:36] Speaker C: Oh, man, it was so messed up.
[00:37:38] Speaker B: There was one up in the north.
[00:37:39] Speaker A: Side not too long ago, and it was started by a improper use of smoking devices. So I imagined a stoner.
I mean, not funny that people had to, like, move out. I don't think anyone died, but not funny. But kind of funny that it was probably a stoner.
[00:37:54] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:37:55] Speaker C: That's the one thing I don't miss about living in an apartment building, is.
[00:38:00] Speaker B: I mean, it's safe.
[00:38:02] Speaker C: Except for if one of your neighbors accidentally sets their house on fire, then, well, you're basically fucksered.
[00:38:10] Speaker A: Yeah, they kind of go through all that. The third pundit calls out the violent.
[00:38:16] Speaker B: Movies, comic books are warping their fragile.
[00:38:19] Speaker A: Minds and becoming a. We're a generation of add, adult, emotionally stunted brats. Hey, you're speaking my language, buddy.
[00:38:28] Speaker C: I resemble that remark.
[00:38:30] Speaker A: Hey, I'm the one doing a spawn podcast. You're the emotionally stunted brat.
Brock the shock fennel.
[00:38:38] Speaker C: And what about Lieutenant Colonel Al Simmons? He's a major story. 1 minute and then all hell breaks loose the next.
[00:38:44] Speaker A: You know what's up with him? He came and messed with you, dude. Yeah, he's just playing. He's playing them like sheep.
[00:38:50] Speaker B: He's playing them like the sheep.
[00:38:52] Speaker A: Subscribe to my podcast.
[00:38:56] Speaker B: Pundits are always a good time. No, it's fun.
[00:39:00] Speaker A: You gotta have a pundits and it's gonna see some great capullo pundits.
[00:39:03] Speaker B: Yeah. And then we get. And then we go right back, right.
[00:39:06] Speaker A: Back to immediately where we left off.
[00:39:08] Speaker C: Yeah. And with Al Simmons in his all together like sand symbiote.
[00:39:14] Speaker B: Oh, man, he looks so, so gnarly. That's what I look.
[00:39:18] Speaker A: That's what I say in the mirror when I wake up before I take a shower and shave. Is this is how I look. This is how I've always looked.
[00:39:26] Speaker C: Everything else is an illusion before I.
[00:39:27] Speaker A: Suck in my gut.
[00:39:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:39:30] Speaker A: It all is an illusion.
What's going on here is Mark had just called him out because Mark had.
[00:39:36] Speaker B: Found out that he's kind of messing.
[00:39:39] Speaker A: With the world and making things worse, basically to draw out all the shadow players.
[00:39:44] Speaker B: Yeah, he's playing a dangerous game. Yeah.
[00:39:47] Speaker C: Mark's not real happy with the way.
[00:39:50] Speaker B: Al's going about it, but you know what else is going to Al?
[00:39:55] Speaker C: This is.
[00:39:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:39:56] Speaker C: You can't. You can't control him. Jason Wynn tried.
[00:39:59] Speaker B: And if Jason Wynn can't do it, fucking good luck.
[00:40:04] Speaker C: Anybody else?
[00:40:05] Speaker B: Right?
[00:40:06] Speaker A: Al's gonna do his Al thing. He definitely is. Ends justifies the means type guy.
[00:40:11] Speaker C: Yes, he is.
[00:40:12] Speaker A: He sees it much as like math, like he's a soldier. Hey, Al Simmons.
[00:40:18] Speaker B: Yep. Soldier. Soldier's gonna soldier. Soldier's gonna soldier.
[00:40:23] Speaker A: He just sees things in numbers and like lot. It's like he doesn't see world Mark as much. More humanists. He doesn't see that.
[00:40:30] Speaker B: And it doesn't, you know, he just.
[00:40:32] Speaker A: Does what he needs to do and he thinks he's doing the right thing.
[00:40:34] Speaker B: Yeah, but a good soldier follows orders, Johnny. As we all know.
[00:40:39] Speaker C: Order 666.
[00:40:42] Speaker B: Wait, that's too evil.
[00:40:44] Speaker A: That's too evil. Go back to 66.
[00:40:46] Speaker C: Let's go to 66. Six isn't.
[00:40:48] Speaker B: Isn't.
[00:40:48] Speaker C: There's not enough before six.
[00:40:52] Speaker A: You haven't watched the Mandalorian yet?
[00:40:54] Speaker B: No. You did.
[00:40:55] Speaker A: We just talked about it.
[00:40:56] Speaker B: Yeah, we just talked about it.
[00:40:57] Speaker C: Yeah, because the. The fire gang shows up and hangs out in that tree. So we get to chilly down with them. One more time.
[00:41:04] Speaker B: The kowalkian spider monkey. What are they called? Lizard monkeys.
[00:41:11] Speaker C: Yeah, lizard monkeys.
[00:41:13] Speaker A: Kowalsian or something like that.
[00:41:15] Speaker C: It's got, like, a w and a z and a k in there. Yeah, yeah.
[00:41:19] Speaker A: With salacious crumb.
[00:41:23] Speaker C: Salacious bee crumb.
[00:41:25] Speaker A: Salacious bee crumb. You're right. That's the.
So the whole reason that came about is one of the puppeteers in between.
[00:41:33] Speaker B: Takes would be like, he would do.
[00:41:36] Speaker A: Him, but he'd do, like, a voice, like a talk show host, and he'd be like, hey, it's me, salacious be crumb. And he's, like, made it up. And that's what they ended up naming the puppet because of the stuff when they were messing around on set while.
[00:41:45] Speaker B: They were, like, airing out the people in Jabba or, you know, trying to.
[00:41:51] Speaker A: Get Jabba to work.
[00:41:53] Speaker C: I would love to see a resurgence of all the puppet work because, like, all the puppets that are in Mandalorian this season, it's. It's glorious. I don't care how fake puppets look. I want more puppets.
[00:42:05] Speaker A: I like puppets rather than CG. It's tangible.
[00:42:07] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:42:07] Speaker B: It makes it more like something you.
[00:42:11] Speaker C: Would be able to come across in real life.
[00:42:13] Speaker A: Malbolgia was supposed to be a puppet, and he looked cool, and they made him all CG.
[00:42:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Sad.
[00:42:18] Speaker C: But we do get that cool, non mouth moving Malbolgia to it.
[00:42:22] Speaker A: Yeah, he's hilarious.
[00:42:29] Speaker B: Oh, so we get a.
[00:42:31] Speaker C: We do get another classic angry Al, you know, displaying himself in multiple forms.
So it's fun. We get a classic.
[00:42:41] Speaker B: Classic, you know, small simmons, Al.
[00:42:46] Speaker C: Al Simmons. And then contemporary, super spiky everywhere Al Simmons.
[00:42:52] Speaker B: It's real nice to kind of show his.
[00:42:55] Speaker C: How he started and how he's gone now.
[00:42:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:59] Speaker B: All evolved.
[00:43:01] Speaker C: It's real fun. I like how his, his skulls have gotten more menacing, like they've grown horns. It's awesome.
[00:43:10] Speaker B: And this is, like, when he kind.
[00:43:13] Speaker A: Of abandons mark of this facility that.
[00:43:15] Speaker B: We'Ve seen so much, he just like, yeah, leaves him. Yeah, it's kind of shitty, but, I.
[00:43:21] Speaker C: Mean, that's Al Simmons.
[00:43:23] Speaker A: That's Al Simmons.
[00:43:25] Speaker C: Nobody said he was. He's a good guy.
[00:43:27] Speaker B: He's not a nice guy.
[00:43:29] Speaker A: Right. I'm sure in his mind, he's like, what? You're doing that shitty newspaper job. There's that weird guy with a ponytail bugging you all the time. You didn't like it.
[00:43:37] Speaker B: So this is the culmination of he's.
[00:43:40] Speaker A: Going to Albania, which they figured out.
[00:43:42] Speaker B: Is where the leader of these shadow players is. Yeah. Who?
[00:43:47] Speaker C: We currently don't know who it is, right?
[00:43:49] Speaker B: We don't. No. Yeah.
[00:43:51] Speaker A: Just a big old dude.
[00:43:52] Speaker B: A big dude is all we know.
[00:43:55] Speaker C: He's got fennel in his pocket, though.
[00:43:58] Speaker B: He does have.
[00:43:59] Speaker A: He's got the. He's got the fennel in the pocket.
[00:44:01] Speaker B: And the shock in the rocket.
[00:44:06] Speaker C: And so we got a badass image.
[00:44:09] Speaker B: Of spawned in a tree man. Yep.
[00:44:14] Speaker C: We need more spawn in tree shots.
[00:44:16] Speaker B: This is great.
[00:44:17] Speaker A: He's always so urban. You don't get him out in the. You don't get him out in the wild too much.
[00:44:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:44:23] Speaker A: No, he's gonna give him a chance. He's like, you want my symbiote? Well, I'm gonna give you a chance.
[00:44:27] Speaker B: Yeah.
And then we got some guys working.
[00:44:30] Speaker C: On the railroad in the middle of the night.
[00:44:33] Speaker B: So that's. That's exciting.
[00:44:36] Speaker A: That's exciting.
[00:44:37] Speaker C: It's exciting.
[00:44:38] Speaker B: Like, you love the railroad, and, I.
[00:44:42] Speaker C: Mean, yeah, trains are cool. Trains are cool. But also, like, how are they seeing what they're doing? There's, like, no lights. Like, could you imagine swinging a gigantic sledgehammer, trying to build train tracks in.
[00:44:54] Speaker B: The middle of the night? I couldn't. Maybe clown gave them some necro powers, but their eyes would be glowing, so.
[00:45:03] Speaker A: No, that's not even true. You can get some classic grey capullo meathead spawn face.
[00:45:08] Speaker B: Yeah, that's some good.
[00:45:09] Speaker C: Some good meatball head. He's just wandering, wandering through this empty facility in the middle of Albania.
[00:45:14] Speaker B: Until it comes across a menacing figure, a hulking silhouette.
Oh, man.
[00:45:21] Speaker C: It says, hello, spawn. I haven't been expecting you.
[00:45:24] Speaker A: We got some red eyes, some teeth.
[00:45:26] Speaker B: You get a little hint of, like, his face there.
[00:45:29] Speaker A: It's like, who could it be?
[00:45:30] Speaker C: You get that. That ponytail.
[00:45:32] Speaker B: I like.
[00:45:33] Speaker C: I like the sort of.
[00:45:36] Speaker B: It kind of bounces back and forth between red eyes, green eyes, red eyes.
[00:45:41] Speaker C: And then the bottom two panels form one image. But it's eyes and mouth.
[00:45:47] Speaker A: Your mouth is.
[00:45:48] Speaker C: Yeah, it's laid out real well.
[00:45:51] Speaker B: I like, Greg Capullo has fun layouts.
[00:45:54] Speaker C: And then they turn the lights on, and spawn is. Oh, spawn is smoking in the light.
[00:46:00] Speaker B: I mean, biaw, man, I like how.
[00:46:05] Speaker A: He has this, like, dark orb around him. He's like, I'm gonna preserve my identity, though. Ha ha.
[00:46:10] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, why not?
That's.
What side did you come from?
[00:46:17] Speaker C: He's part demon, part vampire. He thrives in darkness.
[00:46:21] Speaker B: Then we get a little us from the future.
[00:46:25] Speaker C: We get a.
[00:46:26] Speaker B: This is more of a hint as.
[00:46:28] Speaker C: To who it or is less of a hint and just blatant.
[00:46:31] Speaker B: This is who it is where this.
[00:46:35] Speaker C: This person's talking about. They're the one that made the costume.
[00:46:39] Speaker A: Yeah, we know that.
[00:46:40] Speaker B: And so, so we know who made that costume. Yep.
[00:46:44] Speaker A: We sure do.
[00:46:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:46] Speaker A: Mister Joe Kerr.
[00:46:50] Speaker B: Yeah, indeed. It's a, it's a good, it's a good hand.
[00:46:52] Speaker C: We got a good.
[00:46:53] Speaker B: They're good.
[00:46:54] Speaker C: Creepy hands. I love Greg Capullo hands.
[00:46:57] Speaker B: They're really good.
[00:46:58] Speaker A: And his faces are really good, too.
[00:47:00] Speaker C: This figure is like, making the costume.
[00:47:03] Speaker B: Work against Al and, like, chains him up. And then, and this is another hint.
[00:47:10] Speaker A: You're never worth it. You'd be a hell spawn. Simmons. We know who thinks that.
[00:47:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:47:14] Speaker C: So the, the panel that they say that in is, this is a classic thing that Capulo likes to do where.
[00:47:21] Speaker B: He put something in the foreground, but.
[00:47:24] Speaker C: It basically is an extra border. So, like, this clown leg.
[00:47:29] Speaker B: And it's fun because he does it.
[00:47:31] Speaker C: Like, once an issue for things that he draws. And so it's always fun to see.
[00:47:35] Speaker B: What he does that particular thing with.
No, that's really cool.
In a Batman one that, I don't remember which one it is, but it's.
[00:47:47] Speaker C: A standoff between Jim Gordon and somebody else. And the item that's in the very foreground is a pistol. And it took me forever to figure out what it was, but as soon as I did it, I was like, oh, that's clever.
[00:48:02] Speaker B: Oh, that's clever.
That's cool.
[00:48:04] Speaker A: I just read a court of owls.
[00:48:07] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:48:08] Speaker A: Last weekend I read it in one sitting. It was a banger.
[00:48:12] Speaker B: Now I'm reading City of Owls.
Nice. Nice.
[00:48:15] Speaker C: And then the next one's night of the Owls. I think night of the Owls is the crossover.
[00:48:19] Speaker A: So many owls.
[00:48:20] Speaker C: So many owls.
[00:48:21] Speaker B: Well, you know.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: Who did it cross over with?
[00:48:23] Speaker C: Oh, no, it's with the Bat family titles. So.
[00:48:27] Speaker B: So it's a, it's kind of like.
[00:48:29] Speaker C: Lazarus Planet, only it just covers the Batman titles and stuff.
[00:48:35] Speaker B: So it's like Nightwing and Robin and Batgirl and.
[00:48:42] Speaker C: Jeez, did they have.
[00:48:43] Speaker A: That's all they have so far. In the first one, they reference Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl.
[00:48:49] Speaker B: I think that's it. Yeah.
[00:48:50] Speaker C: Because that was back when they launched the new 52, which means they had 52 titles currently ongoing. And I think, like, eight of them were Batman titles.
[00:48:59] Speaker A: Whoa.
[00:49:00] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:49:01] Speaker A: Gotta get all 52.
[00:49:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
What do they.
[00:49:06] Speaker A: And then the next relaunch after that was the one where they used watchmen.
[00:49:09] Speaker B: Right.
Was.
[00:49:11] Speaker C: I don't know if that was the next one or the one after the next. Because there was.
[00:49:15] Speaker B: I don't remember.
[00:49:16] Speaker C: There's too many. Too many relaunches.
[00:49:18] Speaker A: There's too many launches.
But, yeah, I like how it just kind of nonchalantly reveals that it's this clown looking dude.
[00:49:24] Speaker B: And Spawn doesn't even think it's clown.
[00:49:27] Speaker A: He's like, oh, you must be admirer of his due to your tattoos.
[00:49:30] Speaker B: Yeah, well, it's because Al Simmons says he decapitated him.
[00:49:35] Speaker C: You must be quite proud. More bolshevik than the clown.
[00:49:39] Speaker B: Maybe I shouldn't kill you.
[00:49:41] Speaker A: And then here comes godsend, looking really cool.
[00:49:45] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:49:45] Speaker C: I like that. He just, like, pokes up out of the background, and he's like, excuse me.
[00:49:50] Speaker A: That'S not what we agreed to.
[00:49:53] Speaker C: He's just, like, a fucking nerd in the back. Yeah. Oh, man. This godsend is awesome.
[00:49:57] Speaker A: This is the coolest godsend's ever looked.
[00:49:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, shit.
Oh, man.
[00:50:02] Speaker A: And he.
[00:50:03] Speaker B: He calls Angela and all her whore angels.
[00:50:07] Speaker A: Like, what the heck, dude?
[00:50:08] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:50:09] Speaker C: He's been. He's been, uh. This is obviously what happens when you have an angel who buys into Justin Peterson. Nonsense.
[00:50:18] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the right name. Yeah, whatever.
[00:50:22] Speaker C: Jordan. Pete. Jordan.
[00:50:24] Speaker B: Justin. Jordan.
[00:50:25] Speaker C: Whatever. That douche's name is Jordan Peterson.
[00:50:29] Speaker B: No, he.
[00:50:30] Speaker A: He's talking about issue 100, where Angela dies.
Sad.
[00:50:35] Speaker B: Oh, that's sad. Day.
[00:50:38] Speaker A: Everyone likes the hot angel.
[00:50:40] Speaker B: And then we got a, you know, an admission of killing Wanda and Alice.
[00:50:47] Speaker C: Like, that's what I've been waiting to hear. He's like, then, boom.
[00:50:50] Speaker A: Does the classic, like, rip out the heart?
[00:50:52] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh, man, look at that.
[00:50:54] Speaker A: It's like, oh, you want a little reference to the early spawn? Here you go.
[00:50:56] Speaker B: Boom. Rip out your heart. Oh, man.
[00:50:59] Speaker C: It's so.
[00:51:00] Speaker B: Look at it.
[00:51:00] Speaker C: Look at it.
[00:51:01] Speaker B: Just like, oh.
[00:51:02] Speaker C: And then they're just like, even godson's.
[00:51:04] Speaker A: Like, godson's like, ew.
[00:51:10] Speaker B: Clown just fixes his tie, and he's.
[00:51:14] Speaker C: Just like, smug little bastard.
[00:51:17] Speaker B: And then he begins to transform.
Yeah.
[00:51:23] Speaker A: Into the big, beefy violator. Beefy guy.
[00:51:27] Speaker C: Beef brought a violator.
[00:51:30] Speaker A: I mean, that looks exactly like the action figure I have. It's great.
[00:51:33] Speaker C: Yeah, it's real good.
[00:51:33] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:51:34] Speaker A: One of my favorite action figures.
[00:51:35] Speaker B: And just like, I like the little.
[00:51:38] Speaker C: Detail of Al just dropping the heart.
[00:51:41] Speaker B: Yeah, he's just like, violator.
Oh, man. Oh, man.
[00:51:47] Speaker C: Man, Greg Capullo draws a great.
[00:51:49] Speaker B: A great violator. Yeah.
[00:51:51] Speaker A: No, he really does. And that concludes chapter one.
[00:51:54] Speaker B: Oh, man. Al Simmons.
[00:51:56] Speaker C: Even less necroplasm now. 0014.
[00:52:00] Speaker A: Yeah, he went way down.
[00:52:01] Speaker C: Fuck me.
[00:52:03] Speaker A: Use some power on that.
[00:52:05] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:52:05] Speaker C: I guess it got zapped out of.
[00:52:07] Speaker B: Him with the bright light. He was like a.
[00:52:09] Speaker C: He was like a mogwai.
[00:52:10] Speaker B: Bright light. Bright light. Bright light.
[00:52:13] Speaker A: Well, when you turn the page, we.
[00:52:14] Speaker B: Get the historic artists.
[00:52:16] Speaker A: Chapter two. Todd McFarland's back, baby.
[00:52:19] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:52:19] Speaker A: Let me tell you, it looks really good.
[00:52:21] Speaker C: It does.
[00:52:22] Speaker B: It looks so good.
[00:52:24] Speaker A: The texture of that big, beefy violator.
[00:52:26] Speaker C: Anytime, anytime you get the Todd father to come back and do interiors is a treat.
[00:52:31] Speaker A: Spawn's face there, he's just like, er. Like the detail, the lines.
[00:52:35] Speaker B: So they're going at it.
[00:52:37] Speaker A: He's gonna poison everyone on the planet. Cause if they can't rule it, no one will, especially not spawn. Yeah, yeah, look, the shunk. He just like, he like pokes him in the, like, with his forehead, with his nails or. No, his top thing. Yeah, he just goes like, headbutts him.
[00:52:52] Speaker B: Oh, man, that's gruesome.
[00:52:53] Speaker C: And then throws him into a pile of barrels. I like that. Those just the barrels that he gets thrown into.
[00:52:58] Speaker A: It's like the classic action figure. Like, barrels. Like, just like classic.
[00:53:02] Speaker B: It's the.
[00:53:03] Speaker C: It's what they would do a lot.
[00:53:05] Speaker B: Of times on TNG, if there was.
[00:53:09] Speaker C: An issue, somebody would get, for some reason, they had all these blue barrels that they would carry around in their spaceships. And if there's any sort of intergalactic.
[00:53:20] Speaker B: Or like, if they go into combat.
[00:53:23] Speaker C: With anybody else, there's always somebody in the cargo bay that could get trapped underneath these blue barrels for a plot point.
[00:53:31] Speaker B: He gets cuck. He gets cucked. Oh, man. Yeah, straight up.
[00:53:37] Speaker C: Because Godsend's just pinning him down with his lances.
[00:53:41] Speaker A: And Godsend's a Jesus guy.
[00:53:43] Speaker C: Earlier we had the, the sort of intergenerational, is that a millennial thing?
[00:53:48] Speaker B: And this is like a biblical generation.
[00:53:52] Speaker C: Thing where, like, I'm Old Testament.
[00:53:55] Speaker A: Yeah, he's basically. He's basically calling Jesus a pussy.
[00:53:58] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, the new.
[00:54:00] Speaker A: He's like that new Bible crap.
[00:54:04] Speaker B: He's old.
[00:54:04] Speaker A: I mean, the Old Testament's the wild one.
[00:54:07] Speaker B: Yeah, it is crazy. And then, you know, then we get violator just like ripping, ripping the symbiote.
[00:54:18] Speaker C: Off of Al Simmons.
[00:54:19] Speaker B: And it's.
[00:54:20] Speaker A: Yeah, just like piece by piece.
[00:54:22] Speaker B: Oh, and violators here, you want some of this?
He's like, hey, you want a little.
[00:54:29] Speaker A: Piece of this symbiote here?
[00:54:30] Speaker B: It's like, it's. It's like he got a pizza, but.
[00:54:33] Speaker C: Then, like, didn't offer any pizza until he was, like, halfway through eating it all himself. Like, oh, hey, did you want to get down on this?
[00:54:40] Speaker A: I'm just like, no, that's okay. After, like, slobbering all over it.
[00:54:46] Speaker C: And then Al's just like, glowing green over there and just explodes and boom.
[00:54:56] Speaker A: Blows up the base, like, vaporizes all the dudes, creates a giant crater.
[00:55:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:55:01] Speaker C: He kills all those dudes that were built in the fucking.
[00:55:04] Speaker A: Oh, they work on the railroad.
[00:55:06] Speaker C: Yeah, they were working on the railroad.
[00:55:07] Speaker B: All the livelong night and they got killed.
[00:55:11] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:55:12] Speaker B: And that's why we get.
[00:55:13] Speaker C: That's how we get the railroad spikes that will become those. Some Chekhov's railroad Spikes, Johnny.
[00:55:20] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:55:21] Speaker A: I wonder what they could be used for.
[00:55:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:55:23] Speaker C: And for a quarter mile radius. This is the exact same radius that.
[00:55:28] Speaker B: Clown, as the two ton, 2000 pound villain. I guess that's one ton.
[00:55:36] Speaker C: That's the damage radius he causes in that recent.
[00:55:40] Speaker A: Is it really?
[00:55:41] Speaker B: Yeah, when he's fighting.
[00:55:43] Speaker C: And it says that it cracked the ground for a quarter mile radius.
[00:55:48] Speaker A: So we know that that's Toddfather's favorite distance to crack the ground.
[00:55:52] Speaker C: Well, but this is written by Scott Snyder, so that's some Scott Snyder, right? Tapping into that, toddfather.
[00:55:57] Speaker B: I mean, you gotta.
[00:55:58] Speaker A: You gotta have some stats and spawn, like, how long it's been.
[00:56:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:56:02] Speaker A: How long? How, like, the distance of things is important.
[00:56:05] Speaker C: Clown is showing a little bit of.
[00:56:08] Speaker A: I like scared clown. Yeah.
[00:56:10] Speaker B: Ooh, it's him.
[00:56:14] Speaker C: Why won't you die?
[00:56:15] Speaker B: I have your costume.
[00:56:16] Speaker C: I've got your powers.
[00:56:18] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:56:18] Speaker A: And then he just.
[00:56:20] Speaker B: Then you get this awesome whole sequence here. Yeah. Of just like, from the ashes.
[00:56:26] Speaker A: Simmons begins to build it.
[00:56:29] Speaker B: He does his markings.
[00:56:32] Speaker A: He uses Barb uses ashes to make his markings.
[00:56:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
Barbed wire to make his chains.
[00:56:39] Speaker A: Like, just puts it right on there.
[00:56:42] Speaker B: Oh, man, that would not feel good. His.
[00:56:45] Speaker C: His belt, which is just the skull from one of the fucking work railroad guys, he just, like, shoves it into his stomach.
[00:56:53] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:56:54] Speaker B: His cape, which, uh. Oh, that's the albanian.
[00:56:57] Speaker A: The old flag.
[00:56:58] Speaker C: Nice, nice.
[00:56:58] Speaker B: It's the flag.
[00:57:00] Speaker C: And then finally, his spiked gloves.
[00:57:03] Speaker A: That's the most fucked up part.
[00:57:05] Speaker B: Picking up his railroad.
[00:57:06] Speaker C: The railroad spikes. And just like, jamming them through his wrists.
[00:57:10] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[00:57:12] Speaker C: And it wasn't the symbiote that gave him his powers.
[00:57:15] Speaker B: I love that face.
[00:57:16] Speaker A: That face on. And there was just like, growling.
[00:57:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:20] Speaker A: The costume didn't make me spawn because I am spawn, man.
[00:57:25] Speaker C: Thing needs to make a.
[00:57:27] Speaker B: An art of spawn statuette.
Figure he's just hanging, dong. Just hanging. Because this is a. I mean, he.
[00:57:37] Speaker C: Can hang as much dong as he.
[00:57:38] Speaker B: Needs to, but still, it's a fucking badass image there. No, it's awesome. It's so cool. It's, like, pretty cool.
[00:57:47] Speaker C: Uh, if it were a marvel property, they would call this savage spawn.
[00:57:51] Speaker A: There's a bjorn barons cover that references this.
[00:57:53] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:57:55] Speaker A: It was like King Spawn five or six.
[00:57:57] Speaker B: I remember that. Yeah, it was.
[00:57:59] Speaker A: He's in the graveyard. Yeah, we just covered it. It's the same thing. That was, like the skin suit.
[00:58:04] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:58:05] Speaker B: And he is down to one power level. Oh, man.
[00:58:10] Speaker C: Zero, zero, one.
[00:58:11] Speaker B: Woo, woo, woo.
[00:58:14] Speaker A: Cutting it close there, spawny.
[00:58:16] Speaker C: Now we're into the next story, or redemption.
[00:58:21] Speaker B: So this is.
[00:58:24] Speaker C: The foretold story of when Al and Redeemer transport themselves through the shadows. And the toddfather gives us the c. Next issue.
[00:58:37] Speaker B: Right.
[00:58:38] Speaker C: So this is the.
[00:58:39] Speaker A: This is that moment where they're in the shadows.
[00:58:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:58:43] Speaker C: And so it's Alan Redeemer fighting, you.
[00:58:46] Speaker B: Know, falling through the black.
[00:58:50] Speaker C: They have a little conversation.
[00:58:53] Speaker B: Great.
[00:58:54] Speaker A: I love the page where they're both just like.
[00:58:55] Speaker B: They're.
[00:58:56] Speaker A: This is Jay Scott. This is J. Scott Campbell.
[00:59:00] Speaker C: This one. No, this is.
[00:59:05] Speaker A: Is it still toddler Farlane?
[00:59:07] Speaker B: Because J Scott.
J Scott.
[00:59:09] Speaker C: Yeah. This.
[00:59:10] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:59:11] Speaker C: Jay Scott Campbell does the Jessica priest one.
[00:59:14] Speaker B: Right? I don't know why it says chapter two, chapter three. Okay.
[00:59:18] Speaker A: I don't.
[00:59:18] Speaker B: Maybe this is.
[00:59:20] Speaker C: Unless this is chapter two and this is the Todd.
[00:59:25] Speaker B: Man, I'm so confused. I don't know.
[00:59:27] Speaker A: I don't know. I don't think this is the Todd father. It might be.
[00:59:31] Speaker B: I don't know. But I do.
[00:59:32] Speaker A: Like, I don't think it is.
[00:59:33] Speaker B: So post conversation about your wanda, wondering.
[00:59:41] Speaker C: If Spawn was the guy from venom.
[00:59:46] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:59:47] Speaker C: Wondering if Spawn was venom. I read this page of Spawn and redeemer with spawn going, Eddie, Eddie, that's perfect.
[00:59:59] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yes. Did.
[01:00:01] Speaker A: I don't think I talked about it.
[01:00:02] Speaker B: On pod, but we were talking about.
[01:00:05] Speaker A: Spawn, and Wanda thought through the conversation, I figured out that Wanda thought that spawn and venom were the same person. But for someone that's not into comics.
[01:00:15] Speaker B: They were very excited and happy that.
[01:00:18] Speaker A: They recognized it's the same artist. Like, that's kind of cool. It's like, okay. Yeah, that was like, yeah, I mean, they're similar. She's like, what's the difference? She's like, spawn of a tongue, like the other guy.
[01:00:28] Speaker B: And I was like, no, no tongue.
[01:00:29] Speaker A: I mean, he has an a tongue.
[01:00:30] Speaker B: Probably, but he doesn't have, like, a long tongue. So, yeah, it's just funny because, like.
[01:00:37] Speaker A: I mean, I think a couple other.
[01:00:39] Speaker B: Superhero books, but, like, everyone thinks.
[01:00:42] Speaker A: Cause I've been to spawn that, like, I like all superheroes that much.
[01:00:45] Speaker B: And it's like, well, I don't. It's just spawn. Yeah.
[01:00:50] Speaker A: Because people come up to me, they're.
[01:00:51] Speaker B: Like, wanda will be like, what's the difference?
[01:00:53] Speaker A: And it's just like, well, it's just. There's a difference, okay. It's just different.
[01:00:57] Speaker B: You wouldn't get it. No, it's.
[01:01:00] Speaker C: It's not. It's not that they wouldn't get it. It's just that it's hard to explain because, you know, comics are weird to explain anyway. Like, when I listen back through the episodes and hear us talking about the.
[01:01:14] Speaker B: Issues of spawn, like, I like to.
[01:01:18] Speaker C: Pretend that I don't know what we're talking about, and it's just like, what the hell is going on?
[01:01:24] Speaker B: Yeah, that's comics.
[01:01:25] Speaker A: True.
[01:01:25] Speaker B: That's comics.
[01:01:26] Speaker A: So what happens here in the darkness is basically spawns. Like, I'm not fighting you anymore.
[01:01:32] Speaker B: You're in there.
[01:01:32] Speaker C: Eddie the Spawn says, hey, you need to fucking get some free will up in this bitch right now because you're being used, and you can't be letting people use you. And so, so he's like, you got to choose. You got to choose what you want to do.
[01:01:46] Speaker B: You got to choose which side you.
[01:01:48] Speaker C: Want to fight for instead of just.
[01:01:50] Speaker B: Being told to follow orders. And so he chooses to become. He chooses to become reaper and man.
[01:02:00] Speaker A: And, hey, that's one of the questions of the podcast. Who is Reaper?
[01:02:04] Speaker B: Yeah, now we know. Now we know.
It's kind of like, it looks like.
[01:02:10] Speaker A: And I wonder what he's talking about. He said, there's a seed. I planted you long ago. I wonder if that's something that happens with, like, he puts necro energy in him, because it seems like there's, like, a little bit of necro exploding out.
[01:02:19] Speaker B: Of him, because see that little bit of green, especially with the, like, the.
[01:02:24] Speaker C: Markings of the suit, it's right.
[01:02:27] Speaker A: It's.
[01:02:28] Speaker B: Yeah, it's like, it's the Malvolge am.
[01:02:30] Speaker C: It's like he took a. A spawn action figure and an angel action figure and, like, popped the arms and legs off of the torso and.
[01:02:41] Speaker B: Mashed them back together. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, he's a mix.
[01:02:44] Speaker A: He's got a cool, like, giant scythe. It's pretty cool.
[01:02:48] Speaker C: He's got.
[01:02:48] Speaker B: He's got the big ass.
[01:02:50] Speaker C: The big ass boots. Like Angela, classic.
[01:02:53] Speaker B: Angela had the agent of life and death. And he's got his helmet. So they can't. You can't cut their heads off or.
[01:03:02] Speaker A: You can't, like, hit him in the eye or whatever.
[01:03:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:03:04] Speaker C: You can't hit him in the forehead.
[01:03:05] Speaker B: Forehead.
[01:03:07] Speaker A: Just like that blink of an eye changes everything.
[01:03:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Heroes are changing. And then we have.
[01:03:12] Speaker A: The next chapter is lost and found. No question about who did the art on this one.
[01:03:17] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[01:03:19] Speaker B: I have a question.
[01:03:20] Speaker C: Who did the art on this one?
[01:03:22] Speaker A: Jason Shawn Alexander.
I know.
[01:03:25] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:03:26] Speaker A: It's perfect. I love his style. His mark is so good.
[01:03:30] Speaker C: The fact that Al leaves mark in this isolated cabin, and Mark tries to.
[01:03:36] Speaker B: Find his way out. Oh, man. But he just.
[01:03:40] Speaker A: He's one of those, like, endless scroll video game things.
[01:03:43] Speaker B: Like, it's probably some kind of, like, power, I'm assuming.
[01:03:48] Speaker A: Something that spawn's doing.
[01:03:49] Speaker B: Yeah, probably. But also, it's.
[01:03:52] Speaker C: It's also in the middle of nowhere. And Marc just doesn't fucking know where he is.
[01:03:55] Speaker B: He doesn't even know what state he's in. Right.
[01:03:58] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[01:03:59] Speaker C: This landscape of Al or Mark standing in the long grass, and he can see the mountain range in the background.
[01:04:06] Speaker B: It's.
[01:04:06] Speaker C: It's absolutely gorgeous.
[01:04:08] Speaker A: Don't go into the long grass.
[01:04:11] Speaker B: And then.
[01:04:15] Speaker C: Mark, he's back in the house, and he's like, well, let's go find these toys that Al left behind. But all of Al's toys are gone.
[01:04:22] Speaker A: They're all gone except for Freak's there.
[01:04:24] Speaker B: Freak's like, guess what?
[01:04:26] Speaker C: This freak is frightening as hell. Goodness.
[01:04:28] Speaker B: Goodness. He is.
It's creepiest.
[01:04:32] Speaker A: And their master is calling.
[01:04:35] Speaker C: And then we flash to upstate New.
[01:04:37] Speaker B: York in a secluded hospice where Jim.
[01:04:40] Speaker C: Downing has been in a coma.
[01:04:41] Speaker B: And, oh, man. Fucking.
[01:04:45] Speaker C: There's just body parts all over the hallways.
[01:04:49] Speaker B: And these.
[01:04:49] Speaker A: Looks like an angel and a devil are coming.
[01:04:52] Speaker C: Yeah, but it's. The devil has the angel ribbons.
[01:04:56] Speaker B: No, no.
[01:04:56] Speaker A: I guess they're. I guess they're both angels.
[01:04:58] Speaker B: Yeah, man.
They open Jim Downing's door that has.
[01:05:04] Speaker A: Just, like, a handwritten note that says Jim Downing on it.
[01:05:08] Speaker C: Downing's gone.
[01:05:08] Speaker B: They must have moved him. He's saying the janitor's closet.
And then, oh, man, we get. You get the proto scorched. Yeah, we get. Oh, man, that cygor is frightening. But, man, that overt kill, terrifying fuel.
[01:05:27] Speaker A: And the curse, they're all scary.
[01:05:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
And the freak freaks, telling them that.
[01:05:32] Speaker C: There'S nothing for them to do.
[01:05:33] Speaker B: They failed.
And then he six, he sick psychor.
[01:05:39] Speaker C: On him and cyborg just fucking.
[01:05:41] Speaker A: And they don't care if you're heaven and hell. It's all the same to them.
[01:05:45] Speaker B: Insanity gets unleashed and just everyone's going crazy.
[01:05:50] Speaker A: Ribbons are flying. Wings are flying. Wings are getting ripped.
[01:05:53] Speaker C: There's blood everywhere.
Freak has had enough. And if freak has had enough, then.
[01:06:00] Speaker B: You know, it's definitely enough.
[01:06:02] Speaker C: Oh, and we see. We see why. Why freak says, enough. Because we've got psychor, the curse, and overkill just standing over a pile, a pile of gore.
[01:06:16] Speaker A: And the one who woke them up is Jim Downing.
[01:06:19] Speaker C: He's their master.
[01:06:21] Speaker A: With his wonderful hair.
[01:06:23] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:06:24] Speaker C: I like how his, his motorcycle jacket has the.
The symbiote markings on it, too.
[01:06:29] Speaker B: I never noticed that. That's pretty cool. Nice.
[01:06:33] Speaker A: So he's the one that brought them all back. And we know that he uses them. It's definitely Cygor for his own devices.
[01:06:40] Speaker B: I'll be interesting to see when curse.
[01:06:42] Speaker A: Goes rogue because that's got to happen before. Scourge, scourge, scorch, scourge, scourge, scourge, scorched.
[01:06:50] Speaker B: We, we.
[01:06:51] Speaker C: We scourge for scorch.
[01:06:53] Speaker B: Right?
Yeah, that's.
[01:06:56] Speaker A: This is the end of the Jason Sean Alexander stuff. It was great. Perfect one for him to do because you get Mark and you get the crazy looking overkill and overt kill. Oh, my God. In whispered tones, I said overkill.
[01:07:09] Speaker B: It's.
[01:07:10] Speaker C: It's amazing.
[01:07:10] Speaker B: He does.
[01:07:11] Speaker C: He does creepy like nobody's business.
[01:07:14] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:07:14] Speaker A: No, it's really good. Really unsettling.
[01:07:16] Speaker B: Yeah. Um, and then we're.
[01:07:19] Speaker C: We're into this next chapter.
[01:07:22] Speaker A: Yeah. Um, this one's not creepy. This is gonna shock you. This is my favorite one.
[01:07:28] Speaker C: I wonder why.
[01:07:29] Speaker B: Is it a.
[01:07:30] Speaker C: Is it a perfect dark.
[01:07:32] Speaker B: This is the perfect.
[01:07:33] Speaker A: It's a perfect bonk.
[01:07:33] Speaker B: As you said, it's a perfect bonk.
[01:07:37] Speaker C: Did I. Did I really come up with that one? That sounds.
[01:07:39] Speaker A: Yeah, he said it on a issue.
I think it was last. The woman covered 299 or 298, where she's, like, in her cat suit with the short hair, and he said it's a. Is that a perfect bonk for you, Johnny?
[01:07:52] Speaker C: Oh, man, I'm funnier than I knew. That's a good one. That's a good one.
[01:07:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:07:56] Speaker A: But Jason Scott Campbell, he drew, like, Gen 13 and all that stuff I was horny for when I was in middle school.
[01:08:00] Speaker B: Right? Yeah. Yeah.
[01:08:01] Speaker C: And danger girl, which was.
[01:08:03] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Oh, man.
[01:08:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:08:08] Speaker A: I always looked at those action figures.
[01:08:10] Speaker C: He did. He did that.
[01:08:11] Speaker B: He did that.
[01:08:12] Speaker A: So you got Jessica also? I just like Jessica. Okay. And the reveal of she spawns awesome I'm not horny for it.
[01:08:20] Speaker C: I mean, you are, but.
So we got. We got Jessica pulling up to Nix's loft apartment in a fucking. The warehouse district over here.
[01:08:30] Speaker B: Mm hmm.
[01:08:31] Speaker A: And where she's doing her neo hacker stuff. She's living in the nineties, living in a cool loft warehouse doing hacker things.
[01:08:37] Speaker C: And then Jessica kicks open the front door, and we get the hallway that leads to the bathroom that saw takes place in.
And Jessica's following some bloody footprints all.
[01:08:51] Speaker B: The way down the hall.
[01:08:52] Speaker C: And she gets to Nix's room, and, man, Nix, she be dead.
[01:08:58] Speaker A: She's dead.
[01:08:59] Speaker B: Aw.
[01:09:00] Speaker C: Stuff's thrown around. She's in a pool of blood, laying there dead.
Jessica finds a feather.
[01:09:07] Speaker A: Finds a shit ton of guns, too.
[01:09:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:09:10] Speaker C: She sees a crack in a wall.
[01:09:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:09:13] Speaker A: Like a secret room.
[01:09:14] Speaker C: And she skirt skirts it open with.
[01:09:17] Speaker B: A knife that looks like it's a.
[01:09:19] Speaker C: Knife that can be turned into a.
[01:09:20] Speaker B: Bayonet, judging by that.
[01:09:22] Speaker A: Oh, very nice.
[01:09:23] Speaker C: Very nice.
[01:09:23] Speaker A: Nice.
[01:09:24] Speaker B: And, yeah, she finds Nyx's secret lair. I guess that's got. Look at.
[01:09:32] Speaker C: Look at all that computer. So many computers. There are, like, six towers there, Jenny.
[01:09:38] Speaker A: Hey, she's mining bitcoin.
[01:09:40] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:09:41] Speaker A: How do you get all these guns?
[01:09:42] Speaker B: And it's. It's. It's.
[01:09:43] Speaker C: You'll notice she only has one power strip plugged in. So all of that is in one power.
She's probably got him daisy chained.
[01:09:51] Speaker B: Johnny, that's not safe.
[01:09:53] Speaker A: That's, like, the nerdiest thing to notice. But I love that you notice that.
[01:09:57] Speaker C: Well, she's got a. Like, a candle and a skull and.
[01:10:00] Speaker A: Looks like bought the McFarlane accessory pack.
[01:10:03] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, definitely. She's just missing the cork gun.
[01:10:07] Speaker A: The cork gun and the laser space alien gun, like the Marvin the martian gun.
[01:10:16] Speaker B: And she's got the wall of pictures.
[01:10:20] Speaker C: Of Al Simmons and his family and Terry with the.
[01:10:26] Speaker B: The red thread between them, like a crazy person.
[01:10:32] Speaker C: And there's a book open on the desk.
[01:10:35] Speaker B: It's all sorts of. It's got a picture of spawn, picture of Al Simmons.
[01:10:40] Speaker C: It's filled with chance wizardry and potions. And affixed to the back of the book is an amulet and a spell.
[01:10:46] Speaker B: A spell of resurrection.
[01:10:48] Speaker A: And so she's like, okay, cool. Hey, she's thinking fast, man. She's like, okay.
[01:10:52] Speaker C: Oh, man, that's way faster than I could. I would be like, what the fuck? What the fuck is.
[01:10:56] Speaker A: I was like, my friend's dead.
[01:10:57] Speaker B: What is this?
[01:10:58] Speaker A: What do I do not like, aha. An amulet with a resurrection spell. I would be a mess.
[01:11:04] Speaker B: I do like that. The Jessica looking down at the book.
[01:11:09] Speaker C: Has, like, a swirl of.
[01:11:11] Speaker B: Of everybody.
[01:11:11] Speaker C: It's got clown, it's got malbolgia, it's got violator. It's got shoelace era meatball head spawn.
[01:11:18] Speaker A: Hourglass. The hourglass used to be in the.
[01:11:21] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:11:22] Speaker A: Shoo, shoo, shoo.
[01:11:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, no, it's cool.
[01:11:25] Speaker A: And it's, like, fun. Like, this is, like her baptism into.
[01:11:28] Speaker B: Becoming the Jessica we know now. So she takes the amulet.
[01:11:33] Speaker C: She's like, okay, I guess I'm gonna resurrect Nyx.
[01:11:37] Speaker B: I'll try this out.
[01:11:38] Speaker A: Here.
[01:11:39] Speaker C: Try what? She's like. She's like, sure, I just found this thing.
[01:11:44] Speaker A: But then the crazy tentacles start coming out of it.
[01:11:46] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. But she. And she's my.
[01:11:50] Speaker C: Her mind is instantly taken over, not by images of Nix's life, but instead by those of Al Simmons.
[01:11:56] Speaker B: And then you get this great two.
[01:11:57] Speaker A: Page spread of just, like, all of spawn.
[01:12:00] Speaker B: Yeah. It's get all our friends. All of them. All of them. Look at. We got. We got overt kill with his nowhere.
[01:12:07] Speaker A: Violator with a heart in his hand.
[01:12:09] Speaker B: It's so great.
I like.
[01:12:12] Speaker C: I like how violator literally stretches across the entire thing.
[01:12:16] Speaker B: His. His.
[01:12:16] Speaker C: His long ass arm is just so good.
[01:12:20] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[01:12:21] Speaker C: Creepy ass clown.
[01:12:23] Speaker A: We got malbolgia, your man with the hair.
[01:12:26] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah.
[01:12:27] Speaker C: Oh, it is looking good. We got.
[01:12:29] Speaker B: We got Redeemer.
[01:12:30] Speaker C: We got Saigor, who's got, like, a.
[01:12:32] Speaker B: Rocket on his shoulder.
[01:12:33] Speaker C: Has he got a rocket launcher on his shoulder?
[01:12:35] Speaker B: Is that what.
[01:12:36] Speaker A: Yes, he does.
[01:12:38] Speaker C: And tremor and freak up there just, like, looming large.
[01:12:43] Speaker B: Yeah, classic freak.
[01:12:44] Speaker A: Before he was, like, all zombie.
[01:12:46] Speaker B: Oh, man. It's a.
[01:12:47] Speaker C: It's a great two page spread.
[01:12:48] Speaker B: It's.
[01:12:49] Speaker A: And it's just like, basically, like, welcome to the world of Spawn, Jessica. This is what happened to me when I first read Spawn's universe. I was like, ah.
And it took over my brain.
[01:13:00] Speaker C: You, in real life, turned into an anime fight sequence where it was like, your face, and you're like, ah. And all the spawn faces were like, ah.
[01:13:08] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[01:13:11] Speaker B: No, this is great.
[01:13:12] Speaker A: I just. I really like the J. Scott Campbell.
[01:13:14] Speaker B: Art on all of it. That's really good.
[01:13:17] Speaker C: And then following up that two page spread, we have another two page spread.
[01:13:21] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:13:22] Speaker B: This is great. This. Oh, it's just like, it's.
[01:13:27] Speaker C: Jessica has become she spawn. My favorite part is that a motorcycle has necroplastic. But necroplasmically appeared behind her in the building.
[01:13:38] Speaker A: Yeah. She was like, the office building. She's got to, like, drive out of there. It's like when they have the car in the mall, it's like, how did they get that in there?
[01:13:45] Speaker C: Like, she already had a motorcycle, so now there's just like a free motorcycle out on the street for people to take.
[01:13:50] Speaker B: So this is.
[01:13:51] Speaker C: This is like her.
[01:13:53] Speaker B: Her symbiote motorcycle.
[01:13:55] Speaker C: So it's like Javi's hat, where Harvey has a. Harvey. Harvey has a hat made of necroplasm. Now Jessica has a motorcycle made out of necroplasm.
[01:14:05] Speaker A: Yeah, Algus is. Yeah.
[01:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah, this is.
[01:14:08] Speaker A: It's great. You get she spawn fully formed.
[01:14:11] Speaker B: Looking badass.
[01:14:12] Speaker A: It's like the exact same gun that comes with the action figure.
[01:14:15] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It's just real good.
[01:14:17] Speaker A: Then we get the end prophecies.
[01:14:19] Speaker C: Yeah, we do. What is this?
[01:14:21] Speaker B: What is this? It's a.
[01:14:23] Speaker C: Looks like a pagoda on a hill.
[01:14:26] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:14:26] Speaker C: A man walking up some steps. That's a lot of steps. Look at all those steps.
[01:14:30] Speaker A: Kind of looks like Cagliostro's hat, maybe.
[01:14:33] Speaker C: Yeah, kinda. And he's walking up to a gigantic.
[01:14:36] Speaker B: Like, fleabiac ish, skull fucking giant demon thing cave entrance that just says, welcome nothing. And then we go into spawning grounds. So, yeah, I mean, that's. Woo woo. Oh, man.
[01:14:58] Speaker A: That's a big issue of spawn.
[01:14:59] Speaker C: That was a lot of spawn, man.
I guess we're not quite finished yet.
[01:15:03] Speaker B: Because spawning grounds is the toddfather giving a little breakdown of each chapter and also thanking everybody for making the book.
[01:15:15] Speaker C: Lasts for 300 issues. And here's to 300 more.
[01:15:18] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. So we got the quote from the.
[01:15:20] Speaker A: Beginning of the episode here.
[01:15:21] Speaker C: Yes, yes, indeed.
[01:15:22] Speaker B: Indeed. And then we've got a couple of.
[01:15:26] Speaker C: Two page spreads that have every cover from every issue. Well, not every cover like the main.
[01:15:34] Speaker A: Cover, the a cover.
All right, so let's start with number one.
[01:15:39] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:15:39] Speaker A: We're gonna go through all of them.
[01:15:40] Speaker B: Okay.
No, it's awesome, though. Where's the.
[01:15:46] Speaker A: I always love that.
[01:15:47] Speaker C: The one with Sam and twitch on.
[01:15:48] Speaker B: It in the thirties. There's a good cyan one there.
I like looking at the later ones.
[01:15:54] Speaker A: That I haven't seen as much. Those are kind of interesting.
[01:15:58] Speaker B: Oh, I found it. I found it.
[01:16:00] Speaker C: It's on the second row, fourth from.
[01:16:02] Speaker B: The right, and it's the sam and twitch in front of the wanted spawn poster.
[01:16:10] Speaker A: There's some good covers in here.
[01:16:12] Speaker C: On the bottom row on the left.
[01:16:13] Speaker B: We get that first gunslinger issue cover. Oh, yeah.
[01:16:18] Speaker A: There's, uh, if you turn the page to the second page, there's your, uh, boy Sam and twitch.
[01:16:22] Speaker B: Yeah, they arrested the clown. It's quite a journey to get here. 300 strong.
[01:16:28] Speaker A: Here's the 300 more.
[01:16:30] Speaker B: I agree, indeed. And then we got, we got a little behind the.
[01:16:34] Speaker C: Behind the scenes action. We get some process work. That's always. It's always fun to see.
[01:16:37] Speaker B: Process work. Yeah, it's cool.
[01:16:39] Speaker A: It's cool to see how it evolves. The pencils, then the inks coming in, dropping the inks, the colors.
[01:16:45] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:16:46] Speaker C: Greg Capullo's pencils are fun to just stare at.
[01:16:49] Speaker B: Oh, man, that's cool.
[01:16:51] Speaker A: It's interesting how in that, it's interesting to look how, like, how that changes a little bit.
[01:16:55] Speaker B: Like, originally, he's just, like, in a.
[01:16:57] Speaker A: Kitchen, and then it looks like he's. Then they're surrounded by tvs. If you go to page ten inks or tin pencils to page ten inks.
[01:17:03] Speaker B: It'S interesting how it evolves.
[01:17:07] Speaker A: And then Tom O drops in those.
[01:17:11] Speaker B: Those word balloons. Okay.
[01:17:13] Speaker A: When it says colors by FCO placencia, is that a person?
[01:17:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Their name's FCO.
[01:17:20] Speaker C: It's the. It's the word.
[01:17:21] Speaker B: It's.
[01:17:22] Speaker C: Yeah, it's what they use.
[01:17:23] Speaker B: Okay.
I'm pretty sure.
[01:17:25] Speaker C: I'm pretty sure it's a single person.
[01:17:27] Speaker B: I'm not sure if it's a group of people, but, yeah, I was wondering.
[01:17:31] Speaker A: Because sometimes there are, like, groups in there. I just didn't know.
[01:17:34] Speaker C: And then next issue, after our world record, we'll get our record breaking spawn.
[01:17:39] Speaker B: Number 301, Johnny Boom. And look at.
[01:17:43] Speaker C: Look who all. Look who all is showing up for that one. We got Todd McFarlane again.
[01:17:47] Speaker B: We got Greg Capullo again.
[01:17:48] Speaker C: We got Jason Sean Alexander again.
We got Clayton Crane. We got Alex Ross. We got Bill Sienkiewicz. Oh, man, I'm real bad at that name.
[01:17:59] Speaker B: Matina. We got Jerome Opegna, man.
It's gonna be a real good one.
No.
[01:18:06] Speaker A: J. Scott Campbell.
[01:18:07] Speaker B: So I'm not gonna read it.
[01:18:09] Speaker C: Well, so much for, so much for classic spawn for Johnny.
[01:18:13] Speaker A: This is now a danger girl podcast.
[01:18:16] Speaker C: Hey, fun cross tie into things we talk about all the time.
[01:18:20] Speaker B: Anyway, the trade paperback of danger girl.
[01:18:24] Speaker C: Has an introduction by Bruce Campbell himself.
[01:18:28] Speaker B: Really? Yeah.
[01:18:30] Speaker C: And then for it, J. Scott Campbell.
[01:18:33] Speaker B: Drew a image of Bruce Campbell in.
[01:18:38] Speaker C: A luxurious robe sitting in a chair to accompany the introduction, and it's pretty fucking awesome.
[01:18:44] Speaker A: So that's issue 300.
Epic.
[01:18:48] Speaker B: Epic.
[01:18:48] Speaker A: I mean, I guess we'll talk more about it when we give it the.
[01:18:50] Speaker B: Review score, but it just feels as.
[01:18:54] Speaker A: Hard as it was to start. It it feels hard to move on from it, too.
[01:18:58] Speaker B: It does.
[01:18:58] Speaker C: It does. I totally understand how it would make you. It would lift your day when you read it yesterday.
[01:19:04] Speaker B: Cause, man, yeah, I was just, like.
[01:19:06] Speaker A: I was annoyed about stuff, like the car stuff and just other random things in life, and, like, I was just getting stressed out, and I was like.
[01:19:12] Speaker B: Oh, I gotta respawn.
[01:19:13] Speaker A: I was like, well, I'll respawn and we'll see.
[01:19:15] Speaker B: And, like, man, it really did.
[01:19:17] Speaker A: It turned my frown upside down.
[01:19:19] Speaker C: I have a big fucking smile on my face right now that I can't get rid of. All thanks to spawn 300. It's so good.
[01:19:39] Speaker B: Next up, call the.
[01:19:42] Speaker A: Alert the tabloids. Cause we got a royal coming through.
[01:19:46] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:19:46] Speaker C: It's royal watch. We gotta get all your.
Get all your paparazzi out here so that way we can take photos of them and save royals. They're just like us.
[01:19:57] Speaker A: It's everyone's favorite king. Better than King Charles.
[01:20:00] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:20:01] Speaker A: King Spawn.
[01:20:02] Speaker B: Well, it's.
[01:20:03] Speaker C: It's also the king's pawn, if you will.
[01:20:06] Speaker B: He is the king spawn.
[01:20:07] Speaker A: Ravenspawn called him that.
[01:20:08] Speaker B: What a big jerk. Yeah, what a. He's a badass looking dude, but he's a jerk.
[01:20:13] Speaker A: So we're next up, guys. We're doing Kingspawn number 18.
[01:20:16] Speaker C: Yes, indeed.
[01:20:18] Speaker B: Really cool.
[01:20:19] Speaker A: Cause this is the.
[01:20:22] Speaker B: Month of January, 2023, where the. All the covers were done by David Mack.
[01:20:31] Speaker A: And they're very unique. Like, kind of watercolor.
[01:20:35] Speaker B: I want to say floral, but they're not, like, floral, but, like, I don't know.
[01:20:40] Speaker A: They're much more prettier than Swan usually is.
[01:20:44] Speaker B: It's.
[01:20:46] Speaker C: I find it hard to describe them, actually.
[01:20:48] Speaker B: But, I mean, you look at them.
[01:20:50] Speaker C: And you instantly know they're David Mack.
[01:20:52] Speaker B: So if you know what some David Mack stuff looks, I love the king swan one. It's. They're amazing.
[01:20:59] Speaker C: He makes great covers.
[01:21:02] Speaker B: Great covers. It's just like a skull with a giant sword.
[01:21:07] Speaker A: And I, like, there's, like, this words hidden there. King, king. Like, all over the place.
Is that the COVID you have, David?
[01:21:13] Speaker C: I have cover B. The Von Rainer.
[01:21:15] Speaker A: Oh, what's the b cover?
[01:21:17] Speaker C: It's von Randall, and it's just.
[01:21:18] Speaker B: It's, you know, spawn with extra big. Like, he.
[01:21:23] Speaker C: He looks like, uh, they made a spawn head with the cast of a Darth maul head.
[01:21:30] Speaker B: That's kind of how his head looks.
[01:21:31] Speaker A: And he's just screaming, especially later, like, clone wars. Darth maul. He's on Dathomir, where they're, like, grew longer yeah.
[01:21:38] Speaker B: Or, um.
[01:21:41] Speaker C: Or I guess they're closer to, uh, his brother. Savage oppresses.
[01:21:46] Speaker B: Savage oppress.
[01:21:49] Speaker A: What was one, there was one.
Obi Wan Kenobi went undercover as this prisoner, and the guy's name was malice evil or something. I can't remember.
[01:22:00] Speaker B: It was really good. Do you remember?
[01:22:02] Speaker A: You probably don't. Do you remember? There's this great article, I believe is. I think it originated from Kotaku. I don't know how they. I think that. I don't know who wrote it, obviously, but I think it was from Kotaku. But it's about the collapse of Lucas.
[01:22:17] Speaker B: Lucasarts.
[01:22:17] Speaker A: Like, before Disney bought Lucasfilm.
[01:22:20] Speaker B: Cause, like, it was just the last.
[01:22:22] Speaker A: Final days, and they were working on this game, and, like, George Lucas came into the meeting, and he was like, the name of the villain should be Darth icky.
And they, like, didn't know if he was being serious, and they realized he was being serious, and they were like, oh, okay.
But he was obviously done with it at that point.
[01:22:40] Speaker C: Yeah, fucking some Star wars names are just absolutely ridiculous.
[01:22:46] Speaker A: Savage. Savage oppress.
[01:22:49] Speaker C: What does he do?
[01:22:50] Speaker A: Johnny Savage oppressor.
[01:22:56] Speaker B: But, like, they don't.
[01:22:57] Speaker A: It doesn't get too goofy until, like, that. Like, general Grievous.
[01:23:00] Speaker B: It's like, okay. And, like, the.
[01:23:02] Speaker A: The darth ones make sense because they're made up names. Like, you're Darth Vader, you're Darth sidious.
[01:23:10] Speaker B: But, like, the guy's name is just.
[01:23:12] Speaker A: Grievous, but, yeah, so the von Randall cover, it kind of looks like Nightmare Spawn had a little bit, maybe.
[01:23:20] Speaker C: Yeah, it does.
[01:23:21] Speaker A: Theory. Nightmare spawn is spawn in the future.
[01:23:24] Speaker B: Oh, future.
[01:23:26] Speaker A: Someone said that one time, and I think that's interesting. I've got the bee cover too, all wrapped in the plastic, perfectly preserved, wrapped in plastique.
[01:23:34] Speaker C: So you can blow it up later.
[01:23:35] Speaker B: King Spawn, we've got script plot by.
[01:23:38] Speaker A: Sean Lewis, with additional script by top McFarlane. As always.
[01:23:41] Speaker B: Yes. As you do.
[01:23:42] Speaker A: Art by Javi Fernandez. As usual. Not as always.
[01:23:45] Speaker C: Not as always.
[01:23:46] Speaker B: Excellent work.
[01:23:48] Speaker A: Color by FCO Placencia and Sheila Saldana. Was the color flats?
[01:23:54] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:23:55] Speaker C: I don't understand what that means. It's like, when they started doing digital colors, there was a process that they do called separations. And I still don't fucking know what separations are.
[01:24:06] Speaker B: But color separators always got credit.
[01:24:09] Speaker A: So when we left off, well, I guess I could repreviously in spawn.
[01:24:13] Speaker B: Yes, indeed.
Was there? What?
[01:24:15] Speaker A: Wait, did we. There was no previously in 300, was there?
[01:24:18] Speaker B: Did we skip it? No, there wasn't.
[01:24:20] Speaker C: Because it was just.
[01:24:21] Speaker A: Oh, wow.
[01:24:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Just right into it.
[01:24:24] Speaker A: Anyway, so. Previously in King Spawn, the court of priests have been abandoned in hell while spawn battles the behemoth.
[01:24:34] Speaker B: Behemoth? Yes.
[01:24:36] Speaker A: If you remember where we left off as spawn and discovered all the dead parents from the kids from the Psalms.
Shit. 317, is that right?
[01:24:46] Speaker B: 137.
[01:24:47] Speaker A: Oh, God, 137. I'm gonna get them all mixed up. The psalms 137 attack. And then Gaia and Kingslayer Simon showed up, and we're like, my mom's dead, you motherfucker.
[01:24:57] Speaker B: On this first page, we got Oracle.
[01:25:00] Speaker C: And then right behind her, Simon. And then Simon's mom and behemoth just, like, piled in the background.
[01:25:06] Speaker B: Yep. Everyone's just there, and Oracle's just given.
[01:25:09] Speaker C: Al a talking to. Just like, you're doing some nonsense. You're doing some nonsense.
[01:25:14] Speaker B: Simon is very upset. Yeah. Attacks.
[01:25:18] Speaker C: Attacks Al.
[01:25:19] Speaker B: Or at least charges Al. He doesn't get any blows in, really.
[01:25:23] Speaker A: And Gaius landed down, or the oracle's landed down, because the world slipping.
[01:25:28] Speaker B: And, I mean, this is those, like.
[01:25:30] Speaker A: Moments where you bring in those, like, real world issues. You got, like, violence, homelessness, cosmic creatures attacking cities. All the things we deal with in normal life.
[01:25:40] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[01:25:41] Speaker C: Every day.
[01:25:42] Speaker B: Every day.
[01:25:43] Speaker A: You see, I wonder if that giant. Look at. That's cool. That giant, like, kaiju thing. That's awesome.
[01:25:47] Speaker C: It totally looks like something that would have showed up and spirited away.
[01:25:51] Speaker B: It's like.
[01:25:52] Speaker C: It's, like, slimer, but it's the anime.
[01:25:55] Speaker B: Version of Slimer, so it's got extra. Extra gnarliness to it.
[01:26:00] Speaker A: And basically she's like you. By having the dead zone clothes and you bending them to your will, you're.
[01:26:04] Speaker B: Making the earth sicker and sicker.
Yeah. And just giving a warning. And then the sword he has disintegrates. Where do you get that sword?
[01:26:14] Speaker C: Well, that's. That's Simon's.
[01:26:16] Speaker A: I skipped a page.
[01:26:17] Speaker C: You skipped a page? Yeah, no, that's what I said. Simon charged at him.
[01:26:22] Speaker A: I missed this page. When I reread it, they were stuck together this whole time. I missed it.
[01:26:26] Speaker B: Oh, Johnny. I was.
[01:26:27] Speaker A: I was already on the two page spread. On the next page. I'm sorry. Oh, my God.
[01:26:31] Speaker C: It's fine.
[01:26:31] Speaker B: We.
[01:26:32] Speaker C: We got. We got the gist of it.
[01:26:34] Speaker A: I can see it. They were stuck together. I must have been eating chicken nuggets or something. I don't know what.
[01:26:40] Speaker B: I was eating food while I was reading it. Yeah. Okay.
[01:26:43] Speaker A: So, yeah, there we go.
[01:26:45] Speaker B: Yeah. And that's it. That.
[01:26:45] Speaker A: Hey, you get that thing you're talking about? Like with Greg Capullo, with the outline of the Kingslayer.
[01:26:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:26:51] Speaker C: So Javi does it sometimes too. And it's real fun. I like it. It's a good.
[01:26:55] Speaker B: It's a good thing.
[01:26:56] Speaker C: So then Al is just left all by himself in this big warehouse.
[01:26:59] Speaker B: And he's like, hey, Terry. Terry.
[01:27:02] Speaker A: Anybody there?
[01:27:03] Speaker B: You know? He doesn't find Terry.
[01:27:05] Speaker C: He just finds Terry's phone.
[01:27:07] Speaker A: And spawn knows what's up. Cause he's like, if they think I can negotiate or break down Terry, they're wrong.
[01:27:12] Speaker C: It's like the most. The most spawn can ever actually compliment somebody. It's like a backhanded compliment.
[01:27:21] Speaker B: Like, you know, I fucking trust Terry.
[01:27:23] Speaker C: Terry's. Terry's the best.
Nobody's gonna be able to beat anything out of him. It's like, wait, what?
[01:27:30] Speaker B: What?
[01:27:31] Speaker A: That's a compliment.
[01:27:34] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:27:35] Speaker C: Steps into another room where we got a psalms 137 paint. We get a real cool. Just owl walking through the. Through the room.
[01:27:44] Speaker B: Couple of panels.
[01:27:45] Speaker C: That's real fun.
[01:27:45] Speaker A: So he's gonna find Terry. Cause he's the one. I'm used as a pawn against him.
[01:27:49] Speaker B: Yeah. So, of course, he wakes up Mark. Poor Mark.
[01:27:53] Speaker C: He calls Mark. Jesus, what time is it?
[01:27:55] Speaker B: It's late now.
[01:27:56] Speaker C: Go to your computer.
[01:27:57] Speaker A: He's like, I just want to sleep, man.
[01:28:00] Speaker C: Talk about bad bosses. Yeah.
[01:28:03] Speaker A: Al Simmons. Bad boss.
[01:28:05] Speaker C: Al's like, hey, there's a camera. I know you can find it.
[01:28:07] Speaker B: I'm standing in front of it.
[01:28:09] Speaker C: Tell me what. Tell me what it seemed.
[01:28:11] Speaker A: And Mark finds it because he's the best.
[01:28:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:28:13] Speaker C: And he finds some evidence of Jericho having a big mountain of a man just shove Terry in the back of.
[01:28:20] Speaker A: A car, roughing Terry around.
[01:28:22] Speaker B: Look at that. Fucking Jericho. Mark zooms it.
[01:28:26] Speaker C: He does the. The classic NCIS enhance it.
[01:28:34] Speaker A: He's enhancing.
[01:28:37] Speaker C: So he finds the license plate, and then he's somehow able to track the license plate down. Oh, he uses the other cameras.
[01:28:43] Speaker A: Yeah, he used the other cameras. Come on, David. I thought you were the science guy.
This is all scientifically, 100% accurate. Cameras work.
Enhance image.
[01:28:53] Speaker C: He gives Ally an address five clicks away. He can get there in seven minutes.
So we now know the average city speed of a full grown hell spawn.
[01:29:10] Speaker A: Five clicks every seven minutes.
[01:29:12] Speaker C: Five clicks every.
[01:29:13] Speaker B: So that's what, like, what's a click? I think a click is a kilometer, isn't it?
Let's.
[01:29:21] Speaker C: Because I was he walking.
[01:29:23] Speaker A: He could be able to get there faster than that.
[01:29:26] Speaker B: He can just bamf.
[01:29:28] Speaker C: Yeah, he can. He doesn't even have to see where he's bamfing too.
[01:29:34] Speaker B: Oh yeah. A click is a kilometer, a kilo.
[01:29:38] Speaker C: Meter, if you will.
[01:29:41] Speaker B: So he's just. Jericho's just beaten up.
[01:29:44] Speaker A: Why won't he open the dead zones.
[01:29:46] Speaker B: Tell us what's going on, and we.
[01:29:49] Speaker C: Get a talking about exodus foundation, which.
[01:29:52] Speaker A: You know, will come into place very shortly.
[01:29:56] Speaker B: Right.
[01:29:57] Speaker C: Jericho saying that like, literally the people.
[01:30:00] Speaker B: I work for own all of existence.
[01:30:05] Speaker C: So don't think you're getting out of this.
[01:30:07] Speaker B: And you know, Terry.
[01:30:09] Speaker C: Terry's dealt with threats his whole life, Johnny.
[01:30:12] Speaker B: And did you know he doesn't care.
[01:30:14] Speaker C: Terry. Terry was in the military, right? Terry was in the military.
[01:30:17] Speaker B: But apparently he was a son of. Son of a bitch before that.
[01:30:21] Speaker C: And so Terry knows how to get.
[01:30:22] Speaker B: Out of a scrape and just kicks the car into.
[01:30:28] Speaker C: Into park.
[01:30:30] Speaker B: Awesome.
[01:30:31] Speaker A: Something of you going 40 miles an hour doesn't like to do.
That's a little additional, Todd.
[01:30:37] Speaker B: Father.
[01:30:38] Speaker C: I think I fucking love that.
Like we need to know that the car is going 40 miles an hour or else we won't believe that it throws Jericho from the windshield.
[01:30:52] Speaker A: Yeah, Jericho flies out.
[01:30:53] Speaker B: Boom.
[01:30:54] Speaker C: I love it. The driver is injured, so he's not human.
[01:30:56] Speaker B: Or so he is in fact human. Right?
[01:31:00] Speaker A: Advantage Terry.
So Terry kicks this guy's head in the window.
[01:31:05] Speaker B: Bonk.
[01:31:06] Speaker C: Terry falls out of the back of.
[01:31:07] Speaker B: The car and grabs a piece of.
[01:31:10] Speaker C: Glass that's so man to cut his bounds.
[01:31:14] Speaker A: Pretty classic, man. So many times, piece of glass saves your ass in like a movie or.
[01:31:18] Speaker B: Action scene if you gotta get out of some bindings and you get this really awesome, just like dun dun classic.
[01:31:26] Speaker A: Two hander fist fight with Jericho and Terry against these flames. It's really cool.
[01:31:33] Speaker C: Jericho's like, we need some mood lighting. So he sets the gasoline and the car on fire.
[01:31:42] Speaker B: Picks up one of.
[01:31:43] Speaker C: Kane's favorite weapons, a rock. So we got the classic rock fire glass shard going on.
[01:31:55] Speaker A: Yeah, it's like rock, paper, scissors rock, fire, glass shard.
Fire beats glass shard.
[01:32:01] Speaker B: Rock beats fire and glass shard beats rock.
[01:32:04] Speaker A: Cause you stab the guy and you take the rock.
[01:32:08] Speaker C: Oh, and you know, much like we.
[01:32:11] Speaker B: Had last, last issue had spawn fighting behemoth. We got Jericho fighting, fighting Terry. And it's real good. It's real good. Badass fight.
[01:32:24] Speaker A: And he said he doesn't care. He's gonna protect his family. He'll lay down his life.
[01:32:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
And then out of the.
[01:32:32] Speaker C: Out of the flames just comes a little chain.
[01:32:35] Speaker A: What is that?
[01:32:36] Speaker B: Oh, and there he is. Hail.
[01:32:38] Speaker A: Hail of the king, baby.
[01:32:40] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:32:40] Speaker C: And he also grabs one of Kane's favorite weapons.
Man, there's a lot of. There's a lot of big rocks on this interstate. Remind me never to drive my car.
[01:32:48] Speaker B: On this highway that they're on, Johnny.
[01:32:50] Speaker A: Hey, maybe when they crash, they, like, must up some stuff.
[01:32:54] Speaker B: Yeah, they ripped it out a little bit.
[01:32:56] Speaker C: Big ass rocks.
[01:32:57] Speaker A: I like how he doesn't want to deal or fight with Jericho. He's just like, goodbye. I'm just sending you a portal. Get out of here.
[01:33:02] Speaker C: He just, like, opens a dead zone in his chest and sends him somewhere else.
[01:33:07] Speaker A: He's like, yeah, have fun on your cover next month.
[01:33:10] Speaker B: That.
[01:33:10] Speaker A: I love that cover. That King swan cover, the 20.
[01:33:13] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, those ones are those.
[01:33:15] Speaker B: All those mark spears.
[01:33:16] Speaker A: They're, like, really, really, really good.
[01:33:18] Speaker C: They're real good. They're like.
[01:33:19] Speaker B: They're amazing.
[01:33:21] Speaker C: So vibrant with the purple and everything.
[01:33:23] Speaker A: It was a great issue. That doesn't hurt either.
[01:33:25] Speaker B: Yeah, I know.
Spawn here, walking off with terry.
[01:33:30] Speaker C: And Spawn is basically vowing to become more of an asshole than he already has been. So that's all hail the king, dude.
[01:33:37] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:33:38] Speaker A: Hey, the war. The war. The war for earth begins.
[01:33:41] Speaker B: Yeah, we're kind of building up to.
[01:33:43] Speaker A: The next big, big thing.
[01:33:45] Speaker B: Get the king Spawn logo, and we.
[01:33:48] Speaker C: Get some mailbag people hoping that some more people will show up. And the editors being like, so maybe we'll get some more angel action.
[01:33:59] Speaker B: That'd be fun to get Tiffany back. Yeah, we get some. Some fan art.
[01:34:05] Speaker C: Some span faun art right here.
[01:34:08] Speaker B: It's real good.
[01:34:09] Speaker A: Yeah, this. This Leone from Germany. They're.
[01:34:13] Speaker B: They're smoking what we're smoking.
[01:34:15] Speaker A: Started reading comics 921. That's like, literally exactly what I did.
[01:34:18] Speaker B: Yeah. And then read the 300. And he has.
[01:34:23] Speaker A: They are his treasures.
[01:34:24] Speaker B: Yeah, it's real nice.
[01:34:26] Speaker C: Like, he rates all the comics from one to ten. And Spahn regularly breaks the stale and gets ten plus or ten plus plus, or even ten plus plus plus.
[01:34:34] Speaker B: Holy shit, Johnny.
That's awesome, man.
[01:34:38] Speaker A: And he asked the age old question, why do the covers match?
And, you know, they just say, cuz they're cool.
[01:34:44] Speaker C: Yeah, it's like, what else?
[01:34:46] Speaker B: What's. What else?
[01:34:47] Speaker C: What more do you need?
[01:34:49] Speaker B: Just. It's also.
[01:34:50] Speaker A: Yvette's answering these letters. I don't know who Yvette is.
[01:34:54] Speaker C: It's the publishing coordinator. Yvette.
[01:34:56] Speaker B: Okay, there you go. Good to know. Thomas Healy must have been at a.
[01:35:02] Speaker A: Cool restaurant or reading some Aleister Crowley.
[01:35:05] Speaker B: Yeah, or might. Might have been taken his red marker to doing final proofs for a new issue.
[01:35:15] Speaker C: He likes to post his pictures of the day that he has the stack of proofs with his little red marker. I love the little red marker.
[01:35:24] Speaker A: And he goes, can't say civil war. Yoink.
Get the image classics and then some page punchers, which we'll be getting some spawn page punchers pretty soon.
[01:35:35] Speaker B: But no.
[01:35:36] Speaker C: So the page punchers are, like, just smaller action figures at a lower price point. They come with a comic book, and it's great. I mean, if I were, I think.
[01:35:43] Speaker A: They'Re kind of meant for kids, but you can never find them, so kids will never get their hands on them.
[01:35:46] Speaker B: Ha ha. They have them at target. Yeah, I know. I know.
[01:35:51] Speaker A: Hopefully the kids, some kid will get a spawn or a gunslinger spawn.
[01:35:55] Speaker B: It'll get him into it. Get a page puncher. Yeah, man. And then on the man on the.
[01:36:03] Speaker C: Back, we've got the advertisement for Kingspawn.
[01:36:05] Speaker B: 19, and he's auditioning for Hamlet, pretty.
[01:36:10] Speaker A: Much, alas, for Yorick.
[01:36:13] Speaker B: But it's like Hamlet in last action.
[01:36:15] Speaker A: Hero when Arnold Schwarzenegger, where he, like, daydreams into Arnold Schwarzenegger being in Hamlet, and he's, like, blowing shit up and, like, it's great.
[01:36:22] Speaker C: Last action hero is an amazing movie.
[01:36:24] Speaker A: I love that movie, man.
[01:36:26] Speaker B: It's real good.
[01:36:27] Speaker A: Like, it's one of my favorite movies. And I'm not saying that it's not like a guilty pleasure. It's just like a really good.
[01:36:32] Speaker C: There are no guilty pleasures, Johnny.
[01:36:34] Speaker B: No, it's true. There aren't.
[01:36:36] Speaker A: I love, I love nineties action movies like Spawn. I would even consider part of that.
[01:36:40] Speaker B: Like, movies before they were all based.
[01:36:43] Speaker C: On ips, it would be a supernatural.
A supernatural action film.
[01:36:48] Speaker B: I do believe there's a way you could class.
[01:36:49] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:36:50] Speaker A: Because they use Harry Houdini magic to go into the movie.
[01:36:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:36:53] Speaker B: And there's, like, alter. Yeah.
[01:36:54] Speaker A: It's so funny.
[01:36:55] Speaker B: It's great. Yeah.
[01:36:57] Speaker C: Well, so, uh, hey, Johnny, I think we need to rate these puppies, don't we?
[01:37:00] Speaker B: We do. It's hilarious.
[01:37:02] Speaker A: To me, the reason I laughed just a second ago is, like, we spent 3 hours on 300, and then, like.
[01:37:06] Speaker C: This took, like, ten minutes just, like, breeze through it.
[01:37:09] Speaker B: Oh, man. It's so what is just, what are.
[01:37:13] Speaker C: We supposed to do? Do you want to spend another, another hour?
[01:37:16] Speaker A: No, no, I can't. I have, I have a hard out.
[01:37:18] Speaker B: I gotta, I gotta zoom meeting I.
[01:37:21] Speaker A: Gotta go to, so I can't.
[01:37:23] Speaker B: I can't.
[01:37:24] Speaker A: Let's rate these puppies.
[01:37:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:37:25] Speaker C: What are you gonna rate? What are you gonna rate? Number 300 here, Johnny.
[01:37:28] Speaker B: I mean, I'm gonna rate it five what?
[01:37:30] Speaker A: Out of 05:00 a.m..
[01:37:31] Speaker B: I gonna rate it. What was my favorite part of it?
I'm gonna rate it five she spawns motorcycle.
[01:37:40] Speaker A: I don't know. I don't know what I would, I gotta rate it five bonks for that section, I guess. I don't know.
[01:37:49] Speaker B: I mean. All right, that's fine.
[01:37:51] Speaker C: Yeah, that's good. That's good.
[01:37:52] Speaker A: I'm gonna, no, I don't wanna say five bonks. I would give it five railroad spikes to the arm.
[01:37:56] Speaker B: Oh, hell yeah.
[01:37:56] Speaker C: That's a good one.
[01:37:57] Speaker B: That's a good one.
[01:37:58] Speaker C: So I'm gonna give it 300 little teddy bear tattoos.
[01:38:04] Speaker A: Who has the teddy bear tattoo?
[01:38:05] Speaker C: The teddy bear tattoos on the millennials while they're being anti social.
[01:38:10] Speaker B: So the ginny Jenny has the teddy bear tattoo. Oh, yeah, there it is. Yeah. Nice.
[01:38:17] Speaker C: So, but 300 of them because it's the 300 issue and it's, oh yeah.
[01:38:21] Speaker A: I give it 300 railroad spikes to the arm. I forget.
[01:38:23] Speaker B: Hell yeah.
[01:38:24] Speaker C: Hell yeah. Even better.
[01:38:25] Speaker B: Even.
[01:38:25] Speaker A: And 300 bonks.
[01:38:27] Speaker B: 3300.
[01:38:28] Speaker C: Johnny's gonna be so tired, you guys.
[01:38:31] Speaker B: And 300.
[01:38:32] Speaker A: 300 scary cygors and 300 curses. 300 everything. It's 303.
[01:38:36] Speaker B: Hundred is spawn.
[01:38:41] Speaker C: 300 magical amulets.
[01:38:44] Speaker A: And 300 magical amulets. 300 gun stashes, 300 heart removals, 300 transformations into reaper.
[01:38:53] Speaker C: Okay, so let's, let's go. Everything we see in this comic book, we'll give it 300 of those. So let's start off. Okay, so 300 necroplasm meters, 300 houses in Nebraska, 300 red cups, 300 dueling grills.
[01:39:12] Speaker A: No, it's great. It was great. It turned my day around yesterday when I was having a bad day.
[01:39:16] Speaker B: It's 300. Everything you could want. It's a good, oh, it's instant classic. It's, yep, it's great. It's.
[01:39:25] Speaker A: Todd McFarlane always wants to give you that good deal and, like, he always wants to pack it with it with content and story and action. He really does. This is packed.
[01:39:33] Speaker B: It's real.
[01:39:34] Speaker A: Oh, man, it just feels so nice. It's such a nice physical product.
[01:39:38] Speaker B: Indeed, indeed.
[01:39:39] Speaker A: And then we have Kingspawn 18, which I'm gonna give. I'm gonna give it four out of five.
[01:39:46] Speaker B: And I'm gonna give it four t.
[01:39:49] Speaker A: Miles per hour, which is how fast the car was going.
[01:39:55] Speaker C: Nothing I come up with will be anywhere near as good as that.
[01:39:58] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:39:59] Speaker C: I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna give it four of Kane's favorite weapons in.
[01:40:03] Speaker B: Here, cuz there's a lot of rocks.
[01:40:05] Speaker A: Rocks up.
[01:40:06] Speaker C: We got rocks out the. Out the wazoo in this one.
[01:40:10] Speaker B: So a lot of rocks. It's excellent. Excellent.
Four of them.
[01:40:16] Speaker C: Four rocks.
[01:40:17] Speaker A: Good times. It's fun, man. Spawn, we'll see you at issue 600. Thanks, buddy.
[01:40:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:40:23] Speaker A: Thanks for these 300. Thank you, Todd. Father.
[01:40:26] Speaker B: Thank you.
[01:40:27] Speaker A: Thank you.
[01:40:28] Speaker C: Thank you, Greg Capullo.
[01:40:31] Speaker B: Thank you, Jason.
[01:40:32] Speaker A: I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
[01:40:34] Speaker C: No, no, thank. Thank, Jason.
[01:40:36] Speaker B: Thank him.
[01:40:37] Speaker A: Yeah. That was a cool little section. I mean, that probably, like, kind of invented the look. That's, like, the most iconic she spawn that's kind of inventing the look.
[01:40:44] Speaker B: It's.
[01:40:44] Speaker C: It's her.
[01:40:45] Speaker B: It's her coming out in the.
[01:40:48] Speaker C: In the universe as she spawn.
[01:40:49] Speaker B: It's fucking fantastic.
It is. Yeah.
[01:40:54] Speaker A: No, this is fun.
[01:40:54] Speaker B: This is some really good spawn. Love it.
[01:40:57] Speaker C: Really good.
[01:40:58] Speaker B: Really good spawn week.
[01:41:00] Speaker A: So, David, I understand that maybe you got something in the mail.
[01:41:04] Speaker C: I got something in the mail, did I?
[01:41:06] Speaker B: Well, why don't we take ourselves over.
[01:41:09] Speaker C: To Todd's toy talk, and we'll see about it.
[01:41:25] Speaker B: All right. So.
[01:41:26] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. So my birthday was also not too long ago, right? And instead of taking some or rounding up a group of friends and going to a movie like Johnny did, I just got drunk and ordered action figures online.
[01:41:43] Speaker A: Equally as fun.
[01:41:46] Speaker C: Happy birthday to me.
So what I got right here, I wish I had gotten it a couple.
[01:41:53] Speaker B: Of weeks ago, because it would have been much more thematically appropriate, but I.
[01:41:59] Speaker C: Got myself a dark redeemer, because we were talking about how dark Redeemer is probably gonna go up, and so, sadly, dark Redeemer is just on clearance everywhere.
[01:42:10] Speaker B: So if he ever.
[01:42:11] Speaker A: No one knows he's able.
[01:42:12] Speaker C: If he ever does become, like, a.
[01:42:15] Speaker B: Big thing, like, we absolutely hope he will.
[01:42:18] Speaker C: You should get it now, because it's, like, $9 for a dark redeemer.
[01:42:22] Speaker B: Anywhere you get them. So go.
[01:42:25] Speaker C: Go get it. It's a good one.
[01:42:26] Speaker A: Who's called. If it said able from the bible, those things would be sold out.
[01:42:30] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[01:42:31] Speaker C: So good. So on the back. So the thing, it says 14 plus.
[01:42:36] Speaker B: Not a toy. So it's not a toy.
[01:42:38] Speaker A: Always gotta say it.
[01:42:39] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:42:41] Speaker A: Every time I get one, I point out to Wanda that it says, not.
[01:42:43] Speaker B: A toy on it. Yeah.
[01:42:45] Speaker C: So before I. Before I. Before I open it, I just want to.
[01:42:50] Speaker B: In order to make this an official.
[01:42:52] Speaker C: Official, official episode of, uh, regarding spawn, um, the side art has some blackened.
[01:43:00] Speaker B: Feathers falling down, um, on it.
[01:43:05] Speaker A: For those of you that can't decipher. David's singing. He's singing the ghost from the pinnacle to the pit.
[01:43:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:43:11] Speaker C: So, uh, we got our ghost song, so we can.
[01:43:14] Speaker B: We can. It's now an issue.
[01:43:16] Speaker A: Stamp it.
[01:43:16] Speaker B: All right, put the stamp.
[01:43:17] Speaker A: Putting the stamp on it.
[01:43:18] Speaker B: It's official.
[01:43:19] Speaker A: It's an episode.
[01:43:21] Speaker B: Nice.
[01:43:21] Speaker C: I got my pocket knife here. Opening the little tape.
[01:43:24] Speaker B: Ah, cut the tape.
[01:43:26] Speaker A: What pocket knife are you using? I know you're a big knife guy.
[01:43:28] Speaker B: I got a sock.
[01:43:29] Speaker C: Terminus.
[01:43:30] Speaker B: It's a so. Sog is a sog. It's a.
[01:43:35] Speaker C: It's a gun company that also makes largely terrible knives, except for this one is fucking fantastic.
[01:43:42] Speaker A: The SOG terminus.
[01:43:43] Speaker C: Sog terminus.
[01:43:44] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It's great. It's great.
[01:43:47] Speaker C: It's got a great handle. It's got a great. It's got. For anybody who knows, it's got that based off of the. The benchmade omni spring closure. So it's real easy to.
[01:44:01] Speaker B: And it's got a. It's a flipper, so it's really easy.
[01:44:05] Speaker C: To open and close.
[01:44:07] Speaker B: It's.
[01:44:08] Speaker C: If you're into fidgeting, it's a great little fidget device.
[01:44:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:44:12] Speaker A: Nice and safe. Give it to your kids instead of a fidget spinner.
[01:44:14] Speaker C: Now I got to open this box.
You hear that plastic, Johnny?
[01:44:20] Speaker B: You hear that plastic? Is it real good?
[01:44:21] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, I'm getting the tingle ease.
[01:44:23] Speaker C: So I got.
Pulling out this little egg tray. Oh, no, the wings are cut.
Okay. We got empty box.
[01:44:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I think you have to attach the wings, if I remember correctly.
[01:44:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:44:35] Speaker C: So we got. We got some. Some wings attached to some cardboard here that's also.
[01:44:39] Speaker A: He's currently insane until you get those wings on him, because he's lost both his wings.
[01:44:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:44:45] Speaker C: Well, no, he'd be dead if he. If he has.
[01:44:47] Speaker A: Oh, he'd be dead. One wing. One wing.
[01:44:49] Speaker C: One wing would be insanity.
[01:44:52] Speaker A: He's not insane, David. He's dead.
[01:44:57] Speaker B: Well, of course he is.
[01:44:58] Speaker C: He's a toy, and I am currently looking at him.
[01:45:00] Speaker B: So until I.
[01:45:01] Speaker C: Until I leave, he has no right.
[01:45:04] Speaker A: Right.
[01:45:06] Speaker C: Although. Although the fact that that Woody.
[01:45:15] Speaker B: Move.
[01:45:15] Speaker C: And spoke to what's his face, the bully next door, proves that they are actually.
That they are actively playing dead whenever people are around.
[01:45:27] Speaker B: So, yeah, they have the choice.
[01:45:36] Speaker C: Got a couple plastic strappies here.
[01:45:40] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:45:41] Speaker A: They used to have the little metal ones that you would, like, twist, but now they're just the little plastic guys.
[01:45:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:45:48] Speaker A: They're like little twisty ties is what they used to use. I remember old McFarlane figures back in the day have a million of those.
[01:45:54] Speaker B: God, these little straps are so fucking.
[01:45:55] Speaker C: Hard to cut too.
Like, it's hard to get in a good spot. That doesn't make me feel like I'm just gonna absolutely destroy the figure.
[01:46:05] Speaker B: But they're held in there. Really?
[01:46:06] Speaker C: So.
[01:46:09] Speaker B: I use my little pocket knife.
[01:46:10] Speaker A: Has a little pair of scissors. Ah, it's like a swiss army knife.
[01:46:14] Speaker C: Yeah, I should probably do that.
[01:46:19] Speaker B: Okay. Okay.
Come on. Come on. Get out of there. He's too spiky. He's too spicy. Okay.
[01:46:29] Speaker A: Don't hurt yourself.
[01:46:31] Speaker C: Ah, no, that.
[01:46:32] Speaker B: I'm not you.
[01:46:34] Speaker A: Yeah, that's true.
[01:46:35] Speaker C: No, I'm pretty close.
[01:46:37] Speaker B: You people are.
[01:46:39] Speaker A: Well, nobody is Johnny Fisher except for me. That's me.
[01:46:44] Speaker C: That's what makes, that's what makes Johnny so awesome. The most wonderful thing about Johnny's is Johnny's are wonderful things. Their tops are made out of rubber. Johnny, you got a rubber tap?
No, I'm equating you to tiggers.
[01:47:01] Speaker A: Oh, right.
[01:47:04] Speaker C: So I got Mister Abel free. I got his wings free. I got his sword free.
[01:47:11] Speaker B: So now we got a.
[01:47:13] Speaker C: So here he is in all his glory. He looks fucking awesome. He looks like Redeemer, only dark.
[01:47:19] Speaker B: So he looks like.
[01:47:21] Speaker C: Yeah, we got that going. He's got 22 points of articulation. That's exciting.
[01:47:26] Speaker B: Yeah, I love that.
[01:47:26] Speaker A: They're really, honestly, those Redeemer and Dark.
[01:47:29] Speaker B: Redeemer did a really good job with.
[01:47:31] Speaker A: The wings that they balance it really well. You can stand it pretty well in a lot of positions. And the wings, like, balance it out. It's pretty cool.
[01:47:36] Speaker B: Nice, nice.
[01:47:37] Speaker C: He is now insane.
[01:47:39] Speaker B: Cause he has one wing in, uh.
[01:47:41] Speaker C: Oh, now he is.
[01:47:44] Speaker B: Now. He is good.
[01:47:46] Speaker C: Oh, man, these wings. Impressive wingspan.
[01:47:50] Speaker B: Oh, man, he's got this fucking sword that just goes right in there. Oh, man. Oh, man. He's a real good toy. Look at him. Oh, sorry. Not a toy figure. Not a toy.
[01:48:04] Speaker A: It's not a toy, David.
[01:48:05] Speaker B: It's not a toy.
[01:48:07] Speaker C: Ah, yeah, now he's got his.
[01:48:09] Speaker B: Ah.
[01:48:11] Speaker A: Well, while David's playing with his dark redeemer, I would just like to say nice.
[01:48:18] Speaker C: Nice slice and dice, you.
[01:48:21] Speaker A: If you want to send us some figures, some pictures of your figures, you can reach
[email protected]. Dot I have a feeling we're about to find out in the next issue why his power level is going up. So we may not have that question much longer. And we just found out who Reaper is, so we're getting question answered left and right. But, you know, if there's anything we don't know, you want to let us know something we got wrong or, uh, something. We're like, I wonder why that's going on.
[01:48:46] Speaker B: Because, you know, we're doing. We're.
[01:48:48] Speaker A: We're on the spawn journey. We're. We may be at 300, but we're still on that road to spawn enlightenment. Even though we've. We've walked the road to 300, there's still much more road to go.
[01:48:58] Speaker B: Yeah, it's.
[01:48:59] Speaker C: It's a. It's a journey.
[01:49:00] Speaker B: A never ending journey, if you will.
[01:49:03] Speaker A: And a never ending story also.
[01:49:05] Speaker B: You can find us on Instagram. Yes, you can.
[01:49:09] Speaker A: At regardingspawnpod.
[01:49:12] Speaker B: On Instagram. On Instagram.
[01:49:14] Speaker A: While you're over there, we've got another account. We always like to do. A shout out to the great Instagram community, comics, and spawn community we found.
[01:49:21] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:49:21] Speaker A: And we've got a really cool one today that I think I found and was just like, oh, this is awesome. It's so niche and specific, but it is. What is the official spelling of it, David?
[01:49:31] Speaker C: It is ASM 300 homage hunter.
[01:49:37] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:49:38] Speaker A: And they basically just post every homage to ASM 300 that you can find. Trading cards, comics. There's so many, and it's just really cool to see what they find.
[01:49:49] Speaker B: They just got a whole bunch of.
[01:49:50] Speaker A: Stuff signed and sent back from CGC, so it's fun to live vicariously through them. And look at those.
[01:49:55] Speaker C: Yeah, we didn't have any of them, but there's a couple of spawn 300s.
[01:50:00] Speaker B: That are straight up the ASM 300.
[01:50:04] Speaker C: With Spawn instead of Spider man.
So it's real good.
[01:50:08] Speaker B: It's real good.
[01:50:09] Speaker A: But, yeah, check him out, give him a follow, and, you know, since it's not specifically a Spawn account, it may be one you haven't heard of, but we're checking out because they do spawn adjacent, you know, as they say.
[01:50:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:50:20] Speaker A: Also, while you're at Instagram, make sure.
[01:50:21] Speaker B: To check out T Brian Voyler, who.
[01:50:24] Speaker A: Is our lovely maestro of the music you hear, and we love. It's always a pleasure to hear the music when I'm editing the episodes, so I want to thank Brian for that.
[01:50:33] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[01:50:34] Speaker C: I fucking love, fucking love the songs he plays.
[01:50:37] Speaker B: Such good music. Yeah.
[01:50:39] Speaker A: And that's the Instagram. We'll be branching out to other social media soon. Just life got in the way a.
[01:50:45] Speaker B: Little bit, but picking up momentum.
[01:50:47] Speaker A: We've had over a thousand individual listens and downloads. That's pretty cool.
[01:50:50] Speaker C: Yeah, it's amazing. Thank you. Thank you for your support and getting us to our 33rd. 35th, 34th episode.
[01:50:58] Speaker A: One of those.
[01:50:58] Speaker C: Yeah, this is our 34th. So, hey, it's not quite 300, but.
[01:51:02] Speaker B: I mean, if nobody really.
[01:51:03] Speaker A: It's a milestone. It certainly is a milestone.
[01:51:07] Speaker B: Thank you. Yeah.
[01:51:08] Speaker A: Thank you, guys. And this is.
[01:51:10] Speaker B: What a great day.
[01:51:12] Speaker A: Think about how much it changed my mood yesterday. I've read it again, so my mood's just, like, triple. I'm just about to explode with spawn love, and fly around in the warm, 58 degree Chicago weather.
[01:51:22] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:51:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:51:22] Speaker C: Oh, man, I am vibrating. I feel like I've been drawn by Brett Booth over here. Just, like, ha.
Full of energy and vim and vigor.
[01:51:31] Speaker A: What are we gonna do next week, David?
[01:51:33] Speaker C: Well, next week for episode 35, our classic is gonna be scorched number five.
[01:51:39] Speaker A: Nice.
[01:51:39] Speaker B: Oh, man. Fucking instant classic.
[01:51:43] Speaker C: That, and our contemporary is gonna be Spawn 337.
[01:51:47] Speaker B: Nice.
[01:51:48] Speaker C: I guess that just leads me to say, hey, Johnny.
[01:51:51] Speaker B: Huh? May the scorched be with you.
[01:51:55] Speaker A: And also with you, David.
[01:51:56] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah.
[01:51:59] Speaker A: So I think I may have gone a little overboard, but in honor of today's episode, I ordered, um, 300 donuts in honor of Sam and twitch.
[01:52:09] Speaker B: Oh, man. So.
Oh, man.
[01:52:13] Speaker C: You're gonna. You're gonna fucking go into a sleep coma that lasts until next record, aren't you?
[01:52:18] Speaker B: Just plan nice. Okay.
[01:52:22] Speaker C: Well, Johnny.
[01:52:25] Speaker B: You sleep well.
[01:52:27] Speaker C: You get nice and rested, and we'll talk to you when you wake up in a week.
[01:52:31] Speaker B: All right?
[01:52:31] Speaker A: I'll see you on the other side of these 300 donuts.
[01:52:33] Speaker B: Oh, man. Everyone, we made it.
[01:52:36] Speaker A: We're at 300. Spawn rules.
[01:52:38] Speaker B: You rule.
[01:52:39] Speaker A: Get out there and crush today.
[01:52:42] Speaker C: Yeah, do it.
