[00:00:00] Speaker A: There ain't no angels here. Only demons. A good evening and welcome to the Malbolge. This is regarding Spawn, the world's best Spawn podcast. I'm your co host, John Fisher. [00:00:46] Speaker B: And I'm your co host, David Williams. And Johnny, this week. This week, the comic shop today was good because there was comics. Last week there was 0 spawn. [00:00:56] Speaker A: 0 spawn. [00:00:57] Speaker B: 0 spawn. Last week there was nothing in my pull list. And I was like, what the hell. [00:01:00] Speaker A: Is this, a Spawnless week? [00:01:03] Speaker B: It's. It's rare. It's very rare. [00:01:06] Speaker A: Very rare. Spawn is around us. It's everywhere. [00:01:09] Speaker B: Yeah, it's in the. It's in the trees, like. [00:01:12] Speaker A: Much like UAPs. David, have you listened to UAPS much? [00:01:16] Speaker B: What? What. What kind of. What are you talking about? UAPs? [00:01:19] Speaker A: You don't know what a UAP is? [00:01:20] Speaker B: What is that? Un. Unexplained Oral phenomenon. [00:01:24] Speaker A: Aerial phenomenon. It's a way to talk about UFOs left out of the room. [00:01:29] Speaker B: Okay. [00:01:29] Speaker A: If they're real, David. [00:01:31] Speaker B: I mean, yeah, there's shit that's not explainable all the time. [00:01:35] Speaker A: People are watching us. No, the government. Oh, my God. You got to watch this documentary called Age of Disclosure. [00:01:41] Speaker B: Okay. I thought you were like in the. [00:01:44] Speaker A: News like four years ago. They're like, there's aliens. [00:01:46] Speaker B: Remember that? Yeah. [00:01:47] Speaker A: This is like the story behind that. That came to pass. [00:01:50] Speaker B: Okay? [00:01:50] Speaker A: And there's aliens. Roswell was real. We recovered four biologics from there. [00:01:56] Speaker B: Nice. [00:01:56] Speaker A: And we have a UAP retrieval team in the us. [00:02:01] Speaker B: Nice. [00:02:02] Speaker A: I believe all this. There's aliens. [00:02:04] Speaker B: It would be absolutely. [00:02:05] Speaker A: Or they could be from the ocean. [00:02:06] Speaker B: Oh, that's true. It would be absolutely foolhardy to believe that in this ever expanding universe of ours that we are the only creatures capable of consciousness. And it's that old. [00:02:18] Speaker A: You'd be able to harness some crazy shit. Like, just think about the technology leaps we've had. [00:02:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, it's wild. It's real wild. You know what else is real wild, Johnny? [00:02:29] Speaker A: What? [00:02:30] Speaker B: Fucking send help. [00:02:32] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, we saw Send help. [00:02:33] Speaker B: We gotta send. We gotta talk about send help on this podcast because. [00:02:37] Speaker A: Send help because I'm. I'm gagging because it's so gross. [00:02:40] Speaker B: Oh, it was so good though. Oh, my favorite part was. There were. There were parts. Not my favorite specific part, but watching it in a theater, there were just parts where it was like, so gross. And you could feel everybody being like, are we. Are we supposed. Are we supposed to laugh? And then somebody starts laughing and just everybody is just like, oh, okay, we weren't supposed to laugh. [00:02:58] Speaker A: So much fluids in the mouth. [00:02:59] Speaker B: It was gooey. Oh, it was gooey. [00:03:02] Speaker A: It was good. [00:03:03] Speaker B: It was good as hell. Rachel McAdams is fucking killer. [00:03:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Lindsay Little. Was that her name? [00:03:10] Speaker B: Little? Yeah, Little with D's instead of T's. [00:03:12] Speaker A: Yeah, she was hardcore. [00:03:16] Speaker B: Linda Little, That Lindsay. Linda. [00:03:19] Speaker A: Yeah, it was great. I loved it. I thought it was a great Sam Raimi romp. His, like, kind of like asshole protagonist. He likes to do, like, just like kind of a morality tale. [00:03:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:31] Speaker A: You ending? [00:03:32] Speaker B: It was. I went. I. I went from one end to the other on being like, oh, I feel for Linda. Oh, Linda. Fuck you. And then back to. Okay, yeah, Linda's good. Linda, Goodbye, me. [00:03:44] Speaker A: Yeah. It's a roller coaster. [00:03:46] Speaker B: It was awesome. It was awesome. [00:03:49] Speaker A: It was really good. [00:03:51] Speaker B: I liked it a lot. [00:03:52] Speaker A: It's so gnarly. That boar fight was gnarly. [00:03:55] Speaker B: It went on for so much longer than I expected. [00:03:58] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:59] Speaker B: I was frightened for her. I was like, ah. Actually gonna die maybe. Yeah. Well, you know what else is good, Joni? [00:04:09] Speaker A: I don't know what else is good. [00:04:11] Speaker B: Well, let's see. Not the government. [00:04:13] Speaker A: They're hiding aliens from us, David. [00:04:14] Speaker B: Now, let me tell you something about the government. [00:04:17] Speaker A: They're bad. [00:04:18] Speaker B: They're fucking up the environment. [00:04:21] Speaker A: Yeah, no shit. [00:04:22] Speaker B: Taking all the fucking beautiful animals and making them fucking extinct. [00:04:26] Speaker A: Amazon shit, man. I can't do that anymore. [00:04:28] Speaker B: Yeah, it really needs to happen. [00:04:31] Speaker A: But how is it a Melania documentary directed by Brett Rat. [00:04:34] Speaker B: I was about to say, how else are you going to watch Melania if you cancel your family? [00:04:38] Speaker A: No, but that's like. Yeah, yeah, that's just offensive to me as, like, not even politics, just like, as a person with taste. Yeah, like Brett Ratner. That slimy motherfucker directed a documentary about Melania. Give me a fucking break. [00:04:49] Speaker B: Yeah, fuck that shit. Absolutely. Fuck it. Stupid. It's dumb. The world we live in, Johnny. It's bad. But you know what isn't bad? [00:04:59] Speaker A: Spawn. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Spawn. Spawn is always good. Spawn is always good. [00:05:02] Speaker A: Some spawnless spawns as we often have on here. [00:05:05] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. So sometimes. And what is here, Johnny? [00:05:08] Speaker A: Here is respawn. [00:05:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:11] Speaker A: Regarding Spawn. For each week, we bring you two issues from Spawn's universe. Except when we don't. [00:05:17] Speaker B: Yes, indeed. [00:05:18] Speaker A: This is a do. We're doers. [00:05:20] Speaker B: Do, do, do, do, do, do. Could you imagine the Todd father talking about aliens? [00:05:27] Speaker A: He's probably met him. [00:05:28] Speaker B: It would be awesome. [00:05:30] Speaker A: He probably sold him one of them base walls. [00:05:32] Speaker B: Probably. You're probably taught in baseball. Let me teach you. Let me teach you a little something about what we do here on Earth. [00:05:39] Speaker A: There is a couple panels where I was just like in Sam and Twitch this episode where I was like, Todd father wrote those spotted from a mile away now. Anyway, so we are regarding spawn respawn reach week re2ish response. We've separate. We don't this to do. Those two issues are a very special. Well, hold on. First we have a. It's also very special. A really good Rat City. It's been a while. We did three in a row and we took a break and now we're back. The rat city number 18. [00:06:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:20] Speaker A: It'S 18 and pregnant. And it's pregnant with good ideas. [00:06:23] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It's. It's bursting. It's bursting with those good ideas, Joanie. [00:06:28] Speaker A: And what do we couple it with? But like McNuggets and caviar. Rat City with Sam and Twitch case files. Also number 18. And this is a special issue because it is the conclusion of the NGRI story arc. [00:06:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Interesting conclusion. [00:06:50] Speaker A: Is it the end is the beginning. Is the end. [00:06:53] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:53] Speaker A: As they say, it's the beginning. [00:06:55] Speaker B: It's got a little bit of future stories can come out of the end of this, though. But it's an ending. [00:07:02] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:07:03] Speaker B: It is an ending. Oh, yeah. [00:07:04] Speaker A: And the ending of Rat City is also very special. [00:07:07] Speaker B: Oh, Johnny. We figure out who she is. We figure out who she is. The she that the progeny have talked about her. [00:07:16] Speaker A: We know her. [00:07:16] Speaker B: We know her. I know that lady. [00:07:19] Speaker A: Yeah, in the future. [00:07:21] Speaker B: Yeah, in the past and the future. It's the future and. Well, it's hell. So it's kind of like all time at once. [00:07:27] Speaker A: No, it's now, God damn it. We'll get into it. I don't really can't talk about it. It's the few. It's okay. Whatever time it is in hell, at the time of showing this, they are on the throne of hell. [00:07:41] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:07:44] Speaker A: And we'll talk about who it is. Probably like 25 to 35 minutes. [00:07:48] Speaker B: Yeah. the end of this issue, we should probably start. Johnny, where we start most issues covers. [00:07:58] Speaker A: We always start with the covers. [00:07:59] Speaker B: Yes, we do. [00:08:01] Speaker A: And I have the A cover. I also City 18. [00:08:05] Speaker B: I also have the A cover this. [00:08:06] Speaker A: Week by Zay Carlos. It is a badass close up of the deviant. [00:08:15] Speaker B: Yeah, it's got that like fuzzy. Fuzzy kind of. What's the word I'm looking for? Holographic lights and stuff. Yeah, it's real fucking cool. [00:08:31] Speaker A: I like how it has like the cartoon dots at the bottom? [00:08:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:35] Speaker A: What do they call that? [00:08:36] Speaker B: Like, for the background? Oh, it was a Zippatone. Is that what we figured out? Zip A tone. [00:08:41] Speaker A: You would know. [00:08:43] Speaker B: I think you actually taught me about zipitone. Because you looked it up and I didn't. Yeah. [00:08:47] Speaker A: Oh, shit. I can't even keep track what I know. [00:08:52] Speaker B: Well, Johnny, that's. That's the beautiful thing about brains is you'll just forget it eventually. [00:08:57] Speaker A: I can just upload all 167 episodes plus the specials, so like probably like 190 at this point, something like that. And upload it to AI and just have it tell me about myself. [00:09:11] Speaker B: Wouldn't that be wonderful? That wouldn't be wonderful at all. John, please don't do that. I don't want. I don't want my consciousness uploaded. [00:09:17] Speaker A: Maybe I'll just do an AI so I don't have to record the show anymore. And he just. [00:09:21] Speaker B: You can. You can AI your half of the episode. Leave me out of it. [00:09:25] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm saying I'm going to be. You don't know. I'll be like David. [00:09:28] Speaker B: So what you're saying is I'm probably talking to an AI right now. You might be a John. A. A John. I count my fingers, Johnny. Oh, Johnny, Johnny, there's. There's not a good number of fingers there. [00:09:40] Speaker A: This is one hand. [00:09:42] Speaker B: Will you please try to eat some spaghetti for me? [00:09:46] Speaker A: Oh, no, I can't do it. [00:09:51] Speaker B: Curses. Curses. [00:09:53] Speaker A: Johnny, that means that you didn't get the B cover. My phone's over there. I gotta go fucking walk over there and look up the B cover. [00:10:00] Speaker B: Well, I looked up the B cover already. The Thomas Statcheck. It's awesome. [00:10:03] Speaker A: You hold it up, I'm counting, but I don't. [00:10:05] Speaker B: I don't have it. I only got the A this time because they only had the A when I went. [00:10:09] Speaker A: They only had the A. [00:10:10] Speaker B: They only had the A. And this is. It's got the deviant sitting in a chair like a boss with little skulls that he's resting his hands on. It's awesome. [00:10:18] Speaker A: Oh, he's like hooked up to a chair. [00:10:20] Speaker B: Yeah, he's sitting in that chair. [00:10:24] Speaker A: It's like a futuristic spawn throne kinda. Or like a Metroid save point. [00:10:29] Speaker B: Or like the big boss that you walked in on. Like, he's about to stand. He's about to stand up and tower over you. [00:10:36] Speaker A: Looks pretty cool. I like the green. [00:10:41] Speaker B: It's very good. [00:10:48] Speaker A: What are you doing? What are you typing up? [00:10:50] Speaker B: Nothing. Just. [00:10:52] Speaker A: What the hell are you typing, Johnny? [00:10:54] Speaker B: It's tax Season. I'm trying to try to get information out of lovely Wanda. We replaced our water heater last year and trying to see if I can get that deducted on the taxes. Apparently you can get up to $2,000. 30% of a project up to $2,000 if it's energy efficient. I just don't have the receipt for the thing. We got the receipt around here somewhere, Johnny. [00:11:13] Speaker A: Oh, okay. [00:11:15] Speaker B: That's actual tax documents, not the tax documents folder on my computer. [00:11:20] Speaker A: Okay. Like the real documents. [00:11:21] Speaker B: Like the real, real, actual tax documents. [00:11:23] Speaker A: I'm good about keeping track of documents. I know where they are. [00:11:27] Speaker B: I try to do things the exact same way every time. So that way I can be like, okay, I know exactly where it's going to be. I'm much better about it at work than I am here because I don't have to think about it very much here. [00:11:38] Speaker A: I'd like to know where things are. [00:11:40] Speaker B: Yeah, that's also very good. Knowing where things are. And Johnny, you know, who knows where the story is? [00:11:50] Speaker A: That's the people who made it. [00:11:51] Speaker B: It's the people who made it. [00:11:52] Speaker A: You're on track this today, David. [00:11:54] Speaker B: That was, that was a great transition. [00:11:56] Speaker A: It was. [00:11:58] Speaker B: I should get paid for this. [00:12:01] Speaker A: You should. We both should. [00:12:02] Speaker B: We both should. Yeah, let's figure out how to do that. [00:12:05] Speaker A: People don't realize what a sacrifice it is to have a podcast. [00:12:08] Speaker B: Yeah, we got. I gotta, I gotta talk to. I gotta talk to a friend every week. I gotta read some of the. [00:12:13] Speaker A: No, but I'm saying, like the production of it. [00:12:14] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It does take time if you have to have energy. [00:12:18] Speaker A: Like I was like, we were supposed to record yesterday. I was sick as a dog. [00:12:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:22] Speaker A: I slept from 4:30pm, woke up for 15 minutes, texted you, and then slept. [00:12:29] Speaker B: Until 6:00am that sounds so incredible. I wish I could have. I wish I could have canceled some of. Anything that I had to do and just done that. [00:12:39] Speaker A: Well, I did, David. I'm sorry. [00:12:41] Speaker B: Well, don't, don't be sorry. That's an amazing work. Good work if you can get it. Johnny. [00:12:46] Speaker A: I haven't sick in years. This is fucking bullshit. [00:12:48] Speaker B: Yeah, that's. That is really. [00:12:50] Speaker A: I had knock on. I mean, not knock on wood. I am sick, but like I got like a cold thing. It's not quite the flu, but it's just like a bad cold, you know? Like sick. You're just sick. [00:12:58] Speaker B: I mean, it's like. It's like when I got fucking bronchitis the day of Bran's fucking wedding and didn't get to goddamn go. [00:13:06] Speaker A: I got bronchitis. Ain't nobody got time for it. [00:13:08] Speaker B: It sucked so bad. The problem is I still had to get into an Uber to take Wanda her ID because she was like, eh, it's at a bar. I don't need to take an ID with me. So I was dying in the back of this Uber. And then I get there and I fall out. I'm like, ah. And then I get there and she's like, oh, no. They just let me in. You could go home. But it's like, ah. So then I'm dying on the way back. [00:13:29] Speaker A: Oh, my God, you're double dying. [00:13:32] Speaker B: Double dying. I've died twice, Johnny, in one day. But do you know who hasn't died, but who has done twice? The things in the list of things that they've done for the credits? It's that Erica Schultz pulling script plot duty. Johnny, I'm flipping it on you. I'm doing the first one. [00:13:52] Speaker A: You're doing the first one. [00:13:53] Speaker B: I don't give a. Yeah, we got. We got A by Z, art by Zay Carlos. We got J. David Ramos pulling the colors out, making them pretty. We got Erica Schultz doing the lettering. So, you know, she died again there. She's died three times for this art that makes her a martyr. A Jesus figure. I'd follow Erica Schultz if she created a cult, probably. [00:14:24] Speaker A: I bet you would. [00:14:25] Speaker B: I think. I think. I think I would. We covered the covers. Johnny. The creative director is. Oh, I actually like how they've started doing this thing. You know, it says there cover A and cover B, which ones they did. Instead of just you relying on order placement. They've also started being. Well, recently they've started putting on the front, whether it's cover A or cover B, which I think is kind of. Kind of cool. The creative director is Tom McFarlane and the editor in chief is Thomas Healy. So, previously in Rat City, the battle for survival inside the in between continues as the deviant struggles to maintain control. It's pretty cool. That is what's happening. [00:15:05] Speaker A: Yes. And we go. Because the last thing that happened was the Chairman, AKA the Chosen One, AKA Curses Jesus. [00:15:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:19] Speaker A: Showed up. [00:15:21] Speaker B: They. [00:15:22] Speaker A: And broke up the fight. [00:15:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:24] Speaker A: And then we're seeing the Queen. [00:15:26] Speaker B: It was like, I'm the. I'm the man. [00:15:29] Speaker A: I'm the man now, dog. [00:15:31] Speaker B: So we see the in between earlier and we see. We see the Chairman climbing up the rocky cliffed wall to get to the fight. He says, I have suffered far more than they will ever Know. And we get a flashback to earth many years ago of young, recently d eyeballed chairman doing something. [00:15:57] Speaker A: Sounds like an old man head though. [00:15:59] Speaker B: Yeah, he does. [00:16:00] Speaker A: He looks like Chip Hazard from fucking Small Soldiers. [00:16:03] Speaker B: Yeah, he does. [00:16:06] Speaker A: You like Small Soldiers? [00:16:08] Speaker B: I've only seen it once, but I remember enjoying it. But I remember the rest of my family hated it. So supposed to do about it? You don't like it? [00:16:18] Speaker A: No, it's good. [00:16:18] Speaker B: Oh, oh, oh, oh. [00:16:19] Speaker A: You said boo to your family. [00:16:20] Speaker B: Oh, boo to my family. Yes, boo to your family. [00:16:23] Speaker A: I had the same experience. All my family hated it, but I loved it. [00:16:26] Speaker B: I think it's because I was the right age for it when it came out and they were all just old fuddy duddies who. Who directed it in somebody important. [00:16:33] Speaker A: Joe Dante. [00:16:34] Speaker B: That's what it is. Hell yeah. [00:16:36] Speaker A: Pressure of Gremlins and many other. [00:16:37] Speaker B: Yeah, man, if they. If they made that movie nowadays, it would just be all CGI slop. Yeah, terrible. [00:16:45] Speaker A: And there's CGI occasionally in it, but it's very sparingly. [00:16:47] Speaker B: Yeah, but it's mostly. It's mostly those little robots. This little remote control robots. Yes, very exciting. But yeah, young chairman looking like Chip Hazard, he's doing some like martial arts training where he's standing on the logs in the bog and they say, focus, Victor. The devil will come at you with everything at his disposal. You must be strong in your faith and your body. [00:17:12] Speaker A: He's like, yeah, he's doing this like. Kind of like Batman Begins. S like training like League of Shadows shit where he's like. [00:17:19] Speaker B: Or for. For anime nerds, it's like Ranma half. When Ranma and his dad are at the. At the Chinese training ground that has the. All the waters of drowned whatever that if you fall into them, you turn into whatever it is. So the main point of this, the main part of that story is in Ranma half they're fighting and then Ranma falls in the pool of drowned girl. So when he gets splashed with water, he turns into a girl and his father falls into the pool of drowned panda. So when his father gets wet, he turns into a panda. [00:17:52] Speaker A: Okay. [00:17:53] Speaker B: And they just spend fucking 600 episodes trying to reverse this curse. Anime is weird, Johnny. [00:18:00] Speaker A: I feel like I should fall asleep to like 70s or 80s anime. I feel like that'd be very soothing. [00:18:05] Speaker B: I mean, it would give you a lot. [00:18:06] Speaker A: I should probably use Speed Racer to fall asleep. [00:18:08] Speaker B: It would give you a lot of material to use for sleepy time. Because, you know, they had to. They had to fill 30 minutes a day, every day. [00:18:16] Speaker A: The only old anime I watched a lot of Speed Racers used to show it on Cartoon Network like late at night. After Space Ghost, my brother and I got into it. [00:18:22] Speaker B: Nice. How's the. How's the Wachowski Speed Racer? Is it any good? [00:18:27] Speaker A: It's a masterpiece. Have you ever seen it? [00:18:29] Speaker B: I've never seen it, no. [00:18:30] Speaker A: You've never fucking seen Speed Racer? No. [00:18:32] Speaker B: Should I? [00:18:33] Speaker A: What the fuck? [00:18:33] Speaker B: Yes. Okay. Okay. [00:18:35] Speaker A: I haven't talked about that. [00:18:37] Speaker B: I think you have talked about it, but I. [00:18:39] Speaker A: It's one of my favorite movies. It's so good. [00:18:41] Speaker B: Okay, okay. I will put it on the list. I will watch it after I'm finished with Lost. [00:18:46] Speaker A: Oh my God. [00:18:47] Speaker B: Well, maybe not after I finished with Lost. I might have to watch it in the middle there. [00:18:50] Speaker A: It's fun. It's really. It's fun. [00:18:52] Speaker B: But you've got, you got good taste, Johnny, because Lost is excellent. So. Okay. [00:18:56] Speaker A: No, Speed Racer. The Wachowski Speed Racer. Excellent film. Tom's pumping his fist right now. As he's listening, he knows he was there. [00:19:05] Speaker B: I need to. Only to keep an eye out if they do any filmings or screenings at any of the theaters. [00:19:11] Speaker A: 4K is coming out this year. [00:19:12] Speaker B: Ooh, nice. [00:19:13] Speaker A: I saw it in the theater at Logan Theater. Probably like last August or September. [00:19:21] Speaker B: Oh, dang. So I could have gone. [00:19:24] Speaker A: Yeah, you could have. [00:19:25] Speaker B: I could have. You could have invited me. [00:19:26] Speaker A: It might have been earlier than that. It might have been the summer before that. [00:19:28] Speaker B: You could have said, hey, David, I'm gonna go see a movie. [00:19:30] Speaker A: It was at 11 o' clock at night on a Thursday. [00:19:32] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Yeah. Absolutely not. I still remember that one time you did the Oscar shorts for your, for your birthday. And I was like, johnny, I'm going to be goo. If I go to these. I have to leave. Yeah, yeah. Why? Yeah, that's before I learned that if I just take the day off of work, then I can stay out and watch movies. Yeah, it's very effective. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Do it. [00:19:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Speaking of effective, Johnny, this haircut is real effective at making this dude look like a total penis. Look at this fucking bowl cut. So they got these, these bowl cutted monks, you know, stabbing and jabbing at Victor while he's on these logs. There's Victor's. Victor's feeling himself a little bit and he's like, you know, but I'm the chosen one. I'm the chosen one. And the, the guy who stabbed his eyes out says, hubris, show him. And so they just like fucking kick his ass. And then Knock him off his little posts and you know. You know, he. These are the lessons. These are the lessons he learned to become the Chosen One. Or he already was the Chosen One. But to come the Chosen One after being chosen as the Chosen One. [00:20:50] Speaker A: It's a journey. [00:20:51] Speaker B: It is a journey. It's a never ending. [00:20:53] Speaker A: From Neo and Luke. [00:20:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:57] Speaker A: And Rey and Anakin who fucked it up. [00:21:01] Speaker B: Yeah. And that doctor man who becomes the Cenobite in Hellraiser 2. It's a journey. It's a journey. And so he says he was tainted by the money. Oh, yeah. Yeah. The one from the Maze Runner Wasn't there. [00:21:20] Speaker A: The Scorch trials. Maze Runner 2? The Scorch Trials? Is that what you're talking about? [00:21:24] Speaker B: Yeah. There's Bella. Right? From Twilight. [00:21:30] Speaker A: Not Fallout. Twilight. [00:21:31] Speaker B: Twilight. [00:21:32] Speaker A: You know what's the funniest thing to me? [00:21:33] Speaker B: Isn't she technically here. [00:21:35] Speaker A: They made Diversion Part one. They never made Diversion three Part One. They never made Part two. [00:21:39] Speaker B: Oh, dang. [00:21:40] Speaker A: Did you know that? [00:21:41] Speaker B: I didn't know that. [00:21:42] Speaker A: Didn't make enough money. [00:21:46] Speaker B: That's sad. But it ended on a cliffhanger too. Ethan Hunt. Right? He's always having to prove that he's the hero and keep being the hero. [00:21:53] Speaker A: And he is the chosen One. He is. He is. There's one. One of them. I think the fifth one. He calls him. [00:21:59] Speaker B: He's. [00:21:59] Speaker A: He's destiny incarnate or something like that. [00:22:02] Speaker B: I don't know. Those movies are. He's the. [00:22:04] Speaker A: He's the manifestation of destiny. [00:22:06] Speaker B: Ah. Nice. Those movies are so fun. But I really don't remember the plots immediately after. [00:22:11] Speaker A: They're all the same. [00:22:14] Speaker B: So we get, you know, a little bit of echoing of Victor remembering being pushed off of stuff as a child during his training. At the same time that he's fallen off these cliffs in the. In between. Yeah. [00:22:28] Speaker A: I like that. [00:22:29] Speaker B: And how he. He catches himself in both times. Man. Johnny. I'm just glad this didn't happen to that dude that claimed Taipei 101. Shit. Do you see that? That dude that free climbed Taipei 101. Why? [00:22:44] Speaker A: I know he did. [00:22:44] Speaker B: I didn't. I didn't watch it in real time. Oh, no. Solo. Whatever his name is. Free. [00:22:48] Speaker A: Solo. [00:22:48] Speaker B: I couldn't. I couldn't watch it in real time. No. I would be too anxious. But now, Johnny Victor's path is clear. [00:22:57] Speaker A: People are crazy. [00:22:58] Speaker B: He can see it without his mortal sight. He will end this chaos. He will find his way to. It is where he deserves to be. And he comes across. This is the. The very right before the end of last issue. And he sees the deviant and. Oh, boy, what's his name? The deviant and Aerith sitting there in their sort of mind battle with just their bodies. [00:23:27] Speaker A: It's like how they have sex on Demolition man, but they're fighting instead. [00:23:30] Speaker B: Yeah, they aren't. They aren't swapping fluids. The progeny are sitting there being like, blood fresh. Is he done sulking? You know, they're gathering around Victor after he has climbed up the cliff, and Victor is like, I am chosen to kill you all. Just starts trying to punch the. Punch all of the progeny. And they're like, man, this dude's an idiot. And then they just, like, wrapping him up because they're, like, necroplasmic. Yeah. And the. They're tying him down and they force him down to his knees and then like, shoot his consciousness into the consciousness battle between Arif and. And the deviant. I guess I could just call him Peter instead of the deviant, huh? [00:24:17] Speaker A: You could just call him Al or you call him Spawn. [00:24:19] Speaker B: Yeah. And. And Arif and Peter are just like, wait, who the fuck. Who the fuck are you? Where did you come from? [00:24:28] Speaker A: He's like, I'm here to kill that abomination. He's like. Peter's like, yo, I know I did him wrong. It's cool if he wants to kill me. Who the fuck are you? [00:24:35] Speaker B: He says, who the hell are you? Hell yeah. [00:24:40] Speaker A: And Eric's like, this guy killed my brother. He's my quarry. What are you doing here? [00:24:47] Speaker B: He says, I have a higher. Victor says, I have a higher calling than mere revenge. Yeah, the progeny you're, like, watching through, like, a fucking scrying pool. It's like the one that the. The Violator uses, where they've got the. In the original Violator miniseries, they just got, like, the cage of people that they crack open to. I guess it's his brothers and not him. [00:25:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:15] Speaker B: And the. The progeny are like, yes, they are fighting. They should fight in a proper arena. And then they just, like a coliseum into. [00:25:23] Speaker A: They poom a coliseum into existence, which is awesome. [00:25:27] Speaker B: Yeah. And I like how they. They. When they bring it into existence. It's not new and fancy. No, it's. It's the ruin. [00:25:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it's the Ruin Coliseum. [00:25:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:36] Speaker A: It always was like that, right? [00:25:38] Speaker B: Yeah, always. That's how they built it. And then the prosecutor just like, fight, fight, fight. Show us who's truly worthy of our attention. And then the snake says, hellspawn, use the gifts given to you best. These heathens make us proud. And then Peter says, I will make you proud. Which. That threw me off a little bit. Johnny. I wouldn't imagine that Peter would wish to make the progeny proud. [00:26:10] Speaker A: He's got some hell juice is kind of infecting him. [00:26:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:14] Speaker A: It seems like he's, like, mind melding with him, and, like, there's the big snake behind him. It's. [00:26:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:21] Speaker A: I'm worried about Peter. [00:26:22] Speaker B: I am. I'm worried about Peter. Then we cut to traffic, and we got Kizzy and Quinlan sitting just on the bridge talking about how shitty the traffic is. And then Kizzies start, like, they pass under the now leaving New Jersey, now entering New York sign. And Kizzy's like, hey, guess what? Guess what? I'm at both places. I'm on one side. I'm on the other side. I'm on the East Coast. Oh, the West Coast. It's fun. It's a fun little joke. And Quinlan is just like, man, this lady is weird. This lady is weird. [00:26:58] Speaker A: She's a nice weirdo. [00:26:59] Speaker B: Yeah. The kid is like, man, why is this traffic so bad? This is worse traffic than the usual bad traffic. And Quinlan's like, yeah, let me just crawl out of this car and see. [00:27:08] Speaker A: That's like they had to do, like, the 80s and shit. You're like, man, it's so hot. I'm dying. It's been this car for 30 minutes peeking out the. [00:27:14] Speaker B: Yeah. And so Quinlan, like, crawls out of the window and just, like, looks around and then gets the wide eyes of. Surprise. Holy shit. Because he says, holy shit. What? Get out of the way. Let me see what's out there. And then we see there is this beast that looks kind of like, you know, kind of like one of those PTS veterans that's got the. That's got the. The hell. The hell spawn eye doodad. Yes. Just, like, fucking up the. Fucking up. The cars on the bridge ahead of. [00:27:48] Speaker A: You see markings around his eyes. That Reese hat. [00:27:51] Speaker B: Yeah. And he says markings. As he says our opening reading. There ain't no angels here, only demons. [00:27:59] Speaker A: Demons must be punished. [00:28:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:01] Speaker A: He starts ripping up the bridge. [00:28:02] Speaker B: Yeah. He just starts punching that ground, Johnny. And then. And then Quinn Quinlan's like, kizzy, we got to go. We got to go. We got to run. Kiz is like, move your skinny ass, Quinn. [00:28:15] Speaker A: It's like an Independence Day. The cars are blown up behind him as they're running. [00:28:20] Speaker B: Yeah, that's so the. [00:28:24] Speaker A: The. [00:28:24] Speaker B: But we ain't going anywhere because this is a traffic jam. Became, like, commonplace Usage in my family. [00:28:31] Speaker A: That from. [00:28:33] Speaker B: Yeah, no, from. From Armageddon. [00:28:35] Speaker A: Okay. [00:28:37] Speaker B: Because they're in the cab and the lady's like, I want to go shopping. And he says, me too, but we can't. And so we cut back to see that the bridge is just on fire. And like the. This beast is throwing cars all over the place. And it knocks Kizzy down. All the rumbling. And so Kizzy and Quinlan are caught at the fissure or one of the breaks in the bridge. And this. This beast just keeps going. Demons. Demons. And Kizzy starts sliding down, sliding down the broken part of the bridge into the. Toward the river. No, no, no, no, Kizzy, no, you can't die. And the. Quinlan's just reaches down and gives him the. Gives her the fucking last second grab. And in true cliffhanger fashion, Johnny, we boom. We leave Kizzy and Quinlan with Kizzy just dangling off the edge of this bridge, and we end up in hell, Johnny. And we see a couple of real creepy guys, skulls with spider legs and shit. Then we see a shadowy figure with a really gnarly looking thing in front of him. And then we see a mostly off panel individual asking, what have you brought me? And the shadowy figure says, a soul from the in between hell is to be the forever home of this dep. What is that? [00:30:07] Speaker A: What does dep mean? [00:30:08] Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, Johnny. Well, you would have to ask Erica Schultz. [00:30:16] Speaker A: No, I wouldn't look it up. Maybe it's like something insult. We don't know. [00:30:20] Speaker B: And, well, this, this particular depth, Johnny, is. [00:30:23] Speaker A: It means idiot, jerk, or fool in German. Oh, that makes sense. [00:30:27] Speaker B: Nice. That does make sense. Well, it like ain't got no. Ain't got no face. And, and the. The figure that's off panel says, yes, yes, this is. This will be good fodder. This will be good. And this, this depth is just carried away by these weird skeleton spiders. And we have one voice that says, I have had a vision of an old friend of yours, Becker. He was once a comrade in arms. And Becker. So Becker. It's Becker. We remember Becker, motherfucker. And Becker says, who? And then the voice off the side says, the one you call Yankee. And then we turn the page, Johnny, and the person off panel speaking is the viscerator. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Viscerator on the throne of hell. Yeah. Wow, that was a cool reveal. [00:31:26] Speaker B: Yeah. And Becker says, he is no challenge for me. Viscerator says, I have no doubt, no doubt, my faithful. [00:31:36] Speaker A: So Becker works for fucking viscerator? Who's on the throne of Hell yeah. [00:31:40] Speaker B: That fucking guy is back. Eviscerator. Is she her is Viscerator. Eviscerate her spawn Skolta in the issue. Then the new generations, new stories, new you add for Rat City. Curse of Shirley Johnson, Blood Letter and Black Ritual. Book of Nicks. Got the image classic set. It's real good. It's real good. Then we get the Diablo 4 action figures. Hell yeah. [00:32:07] Speaker A: Which I'm hoping is tomorrow's Nintendo partner Direct. And I have a Switch 2 now. And they're announcing ports that are coming out. And hopefully Diablo 4 comes to switch 2. [00:32:19] Speaker B: Nice. That would be really cool. [00:32:21] Speaker A: I'll double dip for it. I'll buy it again. [00:32:23] Speaker B: Hell yeah. We got the Mortal Kombat 1 ad on the back with that super cool sub zero. And that, Johnny, is Rat City 8. [00:32:32] Speaker A: It was great. What a great twist. Eviscerator. [00:32:35] Speaker B: Yeah, awesome. It was great. I like that. She's. She's still sticking around, sticking her fingers. And she doesn't need to be sticking her fingers in. [00:32:45] Speaker A: It's just cool that, like, Erica Schultz is obviously keeping up with other canon. Like, I'm gonna use this cool character that's going on in the Scorch, which I like. And let's put it in there. [00:32:53] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a big. It's a big sandbox, Johnny. She's picking up the toys and smashing them together like everyone else. [00:32:58] Speaker A: Maybe someone should tell the Tom McFarland to do that instead of inventing a new goddamn guy every issue and then kill. [00:33:05] Speaker B: Where do you think everybody else gets their guys from, Johnny? He's just casting them off. [00:33:09] Speaker A: Not from Dobbin Farland. That's from Scores. That's from the Dead. [00:33:14] Speaker B: Father is basically just like Pigpen with, like a haze of characters that just keep flying off of them at every second of the day. [00:33:22] Speaker A: El he man. [00:33:23] Speaker B: He man. [00:33:24] Speaker A: He him man. And we're back with Sam and twitch. Case files. 18. [00:33:42] Speaker B: 18. [00:33:44] Speaker A: Both of these series can now vote. [00:33:46] Speaker B: Yes, they can. Legally. They can also be forced to fight for their country. [00:33:53] Speaker A: Yep. [00:33:54] Speaker B: They gotta. They gotta. They gotta sign up for that and. [00:33:56] Speaker A: Buy tobacco in some states. Some states is 21 now. [00:34:01] Speaker B: What is that called? Selective service? They gotta. They gotta. They're mandated to enroll in Selective service now. But, hey, at least Gillette's gonna send them a razor for their birthday. Did you get. Did you get your Gillette razor when you turned 18? [00:34:15] Speaker A: I don't remember. Probably. You got a razor in the mail. [00:34:18] Speaker B: Yeah, it was wild salmon. Twitch. 18 and Johnny, speaking of the free Gillette razors, there's some clean shaven boys on both of these covers. [00:34:31] Speaker A: Which one did you get? [00:34:32] Speaker B: I. I got the V cover, Johnny. I got the. I got the other one, the one that you didn't get. [00:34:36] Speaker A: Oh, nice, nice. [00:34:37] Speaker B: The Daniel Enrique's. And it's just Sam and Twitch running in the rain with the guns drawn. [00:34:43] Speaker A: We're going backwards though. We gotta do the A cover first. [00:34:45] Speaker B: We gotta do it second now because we already done the B cover. [00:34:48] Speaker A: Well, I didn't talk about it. [00:34:51] Speaker B: We can talk about it both afterwards. Show me that A cover, Johnny. [00:34:55] Speaker A: All right. It's. It's like a movie poster for this art. Oh, yeah, it's Sam and Twitch in front of the NGRI building. It actually matches the contents of the issue. [00:35:06] Speaker B: Yes, it does. [00:35:07] Speaker A: One of those rare spawn moments. [00:35:10] Speaker B: Yeah, so good. There's no guns. No guns in sight though, Johnny. [00:35:15] Speaker A: Not against just the boys. [00:35:17] Speaker B: But Sam's. Sam's car is in the background there. So. Yeah, that nice old classic. Both. Both covers have rain. Sam is. Sam has much kinder eyes in cover B than he does in cover A. He is pissed in cover A. Oh, boy. [00:35:32] Speaker A: We need to say, of course, the COVID A is by Thomas Nashlick. Of course. [00:35:36] Speaker B: Of course, yes, Thomas Nashlick with Ulysses Arreola. Oh, and cover B is Daniel Enrique's with Robert Nugent. [00:35:44] Speaker A: Yeah, they're really putting more information in this. [00:35:46] Speaker B: Yeah, credit where credit is due, Johnny. There. They must be listening to us saying, ooh, credit where credit is due. [00:35:53] Speaker A: You say you just run over a Wookiee over there? [00:35:56] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. This little, little Ewok over here is trying to trip me up with her fucking jungle antics. [00:36:05] Speaker A: Oh my God. They live in the forest, David. [00:36:07] Speaker B: Forest, jungle. [00:36:10] Speaker A: I guess forest is a drier forest is just a drier jungle. [00:36:14] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it depends on the climate. They didn't call it the jungle moon of Endor. Could you imagine if they had made a jungle moon? [00:36:22] Speaker A: There's a jungle planet. [00:36:26] Speaker B: There'S jungle. [00:36:26] Speaker A: Donna kind of had jungle in Force Awakens. It wasn't featured much. They're mainly a Mazda's castle. But it was kind of a jungle. [00:36:36] Speaker B: Speaking of, she likes that Wookiee. Johnny, I have it on good authority that Maz Katana likes that Wookiee. [00:36:43] Speaker A: You know what? You know how much I want to switch it up on you, David? Because you switch it up on me. [00:36:46] Speaker B: What is that? [00:36:47] Speaker A: I'm not reading the second issue. [00:36:49] Speaker B: What do you mean by you're not reading the second Issue. [00:36:51] Speaker A: You have to do both of them. [00:36:52] Speaker B: Motherfucker, I have to do both of them. The credits for the credits. All right, fine, fine. [00:36:57] Speaker A: Well, then I did the first issue. You took mine, so I had to do both. [00:37:01] Speaker B: Okay, little puppy. Who. Who did these? Who did these? What are these? Credits? Yeah, that's right. Jordan barrel and Todd McFarlane did do the plot in the script. [00:37:10] Speaker A: The only way I can switch it up on you is by making you do them both. [00:37:13] Speaker B: So Thomas Nachchlick did do the arts, and. Yes, with special thanks to Magnus Arts. Oh, yeah, and FCO Plasencia. And Sheila Saldana did do the colors. Yes. Oh, yes, yes, yes, they did. Yeah, that's right. It is Tom Wozakowski doing the letters. And, yeah, we did cover the covers. Todd McFarlane is the creative director, and the editor in chief is Thomas Healy. [00:37:34] Speaker A: I've never let you do two of them again. [00:37:37] Speaker B: I did go a little off the rails there for a second, didn't it? Little puppy is just bad at broadcasting, isn't she? [00:37:44] Speaker A: David has a puppy. For those of you watching at home previously. [00:37:49] Speaker B: And Sam and Twitch. Sam and Twitch discover who the shadow players are. Now they just have to bring them to justice. Yeah, that sets us up just to be a brawl. That's all it is. [00:38:07] Speaker A: They're trafficking necroplasm, putting into chips and putting into people's brains. [00:38:11] Speaker B: Yeah, so they could become younger and more agile. No, it's not. It's making them go fucking crazy. So we. We start exactly where we ended. Sam and Twitch are standing outside of the NGRI building in the rain. Sam is calling in a case. Legal sale of narcotics trafficking, kidnapping, homicide. And then as. As Sam is given the call in, we go into the building and we see the empty floors and then sterile corridors that are much fancier than the rest of the the building. And then we see an operations room with, you know, all sorts of surgical suite, etc. And then we see a command center room with monitors everywhere and Man Bun talking to shit. What's her name? [00:38:59] Speaker A: Holly. [00:39:00] Speaker B: Holly. Yeah. Holly was putting the Mac down on. On Sam Burke and Johnny. We knew. [00:39:06] Speaker A: We knew it was bad news. We knew it was bad news. [00:39:08] Speaker B: We knew she was bad news. [00:39:09] Speaker A: Yeah, we said it was bad news. Anytime you date someone, she's like a demon or like a serial killer or something. [00:39:14] Speaker B: Or just a fucking terrible person in this case. And then we cut to the participants of the trial, and it is the. It is the custodian who snuck the badge out to Sam, who Helen is trying to comfort. And they're removing her chip that she already has in. And Helen's trying to. Trying to clean her up. Trying to clean her up a little bit. And then we see, we see a big, A big chest that says NGRI chip number. But there's no number for the chip, Johnny. [00:39:52] Speaker A: Oh my God, it's 666. [00:39:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Wait, does yours actually have a number in it? [00:39:58] Speaker A: No. [00:39:58] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:40:00] Speaker A: I'm just kidding. [00:40:01] Speaker B: Well, let's say. Wait, wait a second. I wonder if it is maybe not too evil, Johnny, but we need to know that there are more than six chips. So it's chip number 66. And then we cut to Sam and Twitch going methodically through the building. [00:40:15] Speaker A: They're going up there video game style. [00:40:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Guns drawn. And then they're going up the stairs and they find a boiler room on a furnace on the 16th floor. [00:40:25] Speaker A: Why would there be a furnace on the 16th fucking floor? [00:40:28] Speaker B: Yeah, that's too high. That's too high for fire, Johnny. And Twitch is like, ooh, they're probably burning the image. [00:40:34] Speaker A: Jet fuel can't melt steel beams. [00:40:37] Speaker B: Well, you know what I have to say about that, Johnny, what do you think? [00:40:42] Speaker A: You think there's anything fishy about 9 11? [00:40:43] Speaker B: No, I was, I was fishing. I was fishing. A four year old. [00:40:46] Speaker A: No, I'm asking you, I'm asking you what do I think fishy about 911? Do I think it's just all on the up and up and what they say happens. Exactly what happened. They didn't know nothing about it. And it was all. I'm not asking if you think there was like a demolition. Just saying you think it's all in the up and up. What they're the official story. David has died. [00:41:08] Speaker B: There's definitely something fishy going on. Anytime there's. [00:41:11] Speaker A: Come on, I know anytime there's government and like destruction involved, they. [00:41:15] Speaker B: Any, anytime there is some sort of large scale destruction of that kind, it's. It's not isolated players that doesn't minimize the loss that happened. [00:41:27] Speaker A: I'm not saying. [00:41:29] Speaker B: Yeah, no, but, but definitely something fishy. [00:41:31] Speaker A: They knew about Pearl harbor too. They let it happen. [00:41:33] Speaker B: Yeah, they probably were like. Yeah, no, they're, they're just not gonna do it. They're just not. Yeah, we're fine. We're fine. We're good. They're not gonna do it. Yeah, little puppy, little puppy. You gotta stop being. [00:41:46] Speaker A: Not asking if you're a 911 conspiracy theorist, David. [00:41:50] Speaker B: That. No, I don't, I don't have, I don't have the free time to think about conspiracy theories. Johnny. I got. I got a. I got overthinking about my own life to do. I'm gonna sit over here and think about conspiracy theories. No, thank you. [00:42:04] Speaker A: Yeah, it sucks to think about the truth. [00:42:05] Speaker B: Doesn't really. Actually does. So. Yeah, they're at the furnace. Sam's checking out some ashes, and he's like, what is this? Oh, people are coming. Get in position. So they get ready for people to come in the door. And then some people come in the door and then they pistol whip the fuck out of them. And then Sam shoots one of them. And then Sam. You can't shoot. It. Makes too much damn noise. Sam's just like, right, shit. And then we cut back up to the command center, and Holly says, that's them on the camera. They're both alive, damn it. And then Shadow Man Bun is like, what are we doing? And Holly's just like, nuclear option. It's done everything. This place is cooked, furnaced. And then we cut down to, like, one of the. The lab rooms, and then there's just like the. The lab. The lab workers and their little sweatsuits just running around carrying stuff. [00:42:57] Speaker A: They're like hard drives and shit. Yeah. [00:43:00] Speaker B: And then there's like this hulking. Hulking individual just, like, chained down. One of the. One of the. The goons is just like, terminate. This one terminates. [00:43:12] Speaker A: And then just then his. [00:43:14] Speaker B: Yeah, like a. [00:43:15] Speaker A: His chains get undone. [00:43:17] Speaker B: Yeah, his. His shackles come loose. And then. And then we cut to Helen, and Helen's with the participants. And they're like, what the fuck is going on? What's all that beeping? And then just like, one of the goons just, like, stumbles in and falls on Helen. And he's got a big old hole on his back. And then, you know, pins Helen to the ground. And then Helen can see down the hallway. And it's this big. That big. That big muscle guy. Just. [00:43:43] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:43:43] Speaker B: Punching heads off left and right. [00:43:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:43:46] Speaker B: Oh, boy. Then he finds himself a sword. And he picks it up and he starts going towards. [00:43:51] Speaker A: As you do. [00:43:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Swords. They're everywhere, Johnny. And then Helen's. Helen's vulnerable. And then she's covered in a splatter of blood. And we see that that guy who was helping Sam out is just there with a. With another. That actually looks like a pipe. There was a pipe. And he just beats the shit out of this hulking guy. And he says, detective Williams. Wife, curious. And then the. The lady. [00:44:17] Speaker A: We learned his name before. [00:44:19] Speaker B: No, I think this is where we learn it right now. His name is Zero. Yeah. Because the custodian who was helping Sam says, she's not part of this, Zero. She's good. And then we see moments later and Twitch St Helen. It's a nice little reunion. And then Sam sees Zero and is like, ah, you unlocked the door. I see. Sam was like, we. We got. We gotta get statements. We gotta get statements. We gotta save as much as possible. [00:44:45] Speaker A: Hell, no. [00:44:45] Speaker B: He's like. He's like, your case is. No, absolutely not. [00:44:50] Speaker A: Goodbye, Bird. [00:44:52] Speaker B: Yeah. And Sam's like, holly runs all this. I can't believe it. And Helen says, yeah, she fooled me, too. And they're. Then they're in the. They're in the control room, and there's all these documents and all this evidence. And Sam's like. Or Twitch says, why leave so much evidence behind? And then, you know, there's gas. There's gas leaking in there. Sam, this is the furnace. This place is gonna blow. And then Twitch sees the Shadow Man. He says, helen, it's him. Sam, get out of here. Helen's like, what are you doing, Max? And he says, just go now. I'll be right behind you. And so Helen and Sam were running. They're running down this sterile corridor, and Sam gets shot in the shoulder from behind. Oh, no. It's actually a great panel of him getting shot. Yeah, it is. [00:45:41] Speaker A: Holly. [00:45:41] Speaker B: Holly, where are you running off to? Says you, Holly, you're going to prison. She says, don't think so. And she points her gun right at Helen's forehead and then takes her away as a hostage. And then Twitch comes in and just says, freeze, you fucking bitch. He's got Volvatron. Got her in the crosshairs. Holly says, this feels familiar. And then we get a flash cut to the first issue of this arc in the alleyway. And Holly's like, you're just gonna shoot your wife, aren't you? And Twitch says, actually, I'm not gonna do that. And then we see Zero, not Zero. We see Shadow Man. Shadow Man Bun. [00:46:25] Speaker A: Shadow Man Bun. [00:46:26] Speaker B: He comes sneaking up along the wall. And Sam sees him, and he's like, the fuck is this? And then as he starts to congeal from Shadow into shape, Sam just pumps him full of lead and says, you're clear. Sam, take her. And Twitch. He doesn't twitch. Not at all. And we get a bang. And then we cut outside to Detective Chen and the rest of the nypd. And Detective Chen's directing people to go all these places. And then as the perimeter is secured, the Building blows. [00:47:05] Speaker A: Boom. [00:47:06] Speaker B: Yeah. And then Sam is leading Holly out in shackles, and Twitch is coming out of the building with Helen. And then we cut to the custodian lady in her escape attempt. She says, zero, you set the left path back to hq. Right, Zero. And then we see that Zero isn't there. Zero is at that locked room where all of their secrets restored that is currently being engulfed in flames. And he enters the locked room that the keycard opens up, and he finds a little thing and says, so that's where you are. See you soon, brother. Brother, Brother, brother. And then we cut from there to police hq. And we're in a conference room, and they're like, whoa, this is some fucked up shit, huh? Like, ngra. NGRI basically just like, never existed, huh? And Sam's like, yeah, that's a. We're going after the whole company, right? And they're like, this report has nothing in it. There's no evidence. This case is done. And then later, we see in an office that they're not going to be pursuing ngri. The. This is some sort of lawyer, I assume. And they're talking to, like, the heads of the police. They're like, this case sloppy. You know, even if. Even if we didn't lose all the evidence, your boys had no chain of custody, so no warrants. So just fucking drop all of it and just let all of it go. And so then the grand. There's a grand jury, and they clear. They expunged Twitch's record with regards to all of this. [00:49:01] Speaker A: Yes. [00:49:02] Speaker B: Yeah. So Sam's case got squashed, but, hey, so did all the nonsense in Twitch's past. And then Johnny, I'm not sure who these people are. What, this lady in the power suit and the guy who turns out to be Shadow Man Bun. Who is this lady? [00:49:24] Speaker A: They're at their trial. [00:49:25] Speaker B: But, no, who's the lady? [00:49:28] Speaker A: Fucking Holly. [00:49:30] Speaker B: That. That's Holly. [00:49:32] Speaker A: Yes. [00:49:34] Speaker B: I didn't. I didn't recognize that as Holly. Well, anyway, Shadow Man Bun, like, Garazer, which we do don't see on panel. And then. And then Shadow Man Bun's just hanging out on a rooftop, and Sam and Twitch come by and they're like, hey, motherfucker, what the fuck are you doing here? Get the fuck out of here. What are you doing here? And Shadow Man Bun's like, you gotta give. You gotta. You gotta stop using Spawn. If you. If you stop relying on. [00:50:04] Speaker A: This is the. These, like, five bottom panels. This is. I feel like this is the Todd. [00:50:09] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Yeah. [00:50:11] Speaker A: You fucked my Family, my career. Just get me off the board. He loves talking about board and shadow players. [00:50:16] Speaker B: Yeah. And so he's trying to get. Convince them to stop working with Spawn so that way he can. He can be free of the menace of Al Simon. And then we cut to Twitch being a good dad and a good husband. He's watching his boy play basketball. He's talking to Helen late at night while she's worried about stuff. And then Sam moving out of the apartment that he moved into for. At the. The place or no. Or is he moving into a new apartment? [00:50:45] Speaker A: Moving to a new apartment. [00:50:47] Speaker B: Moving to a new apartment. Nostradamus is there and he's like, hey, I'll treat you some dinner, Dr. Chen. And Dr. Chen says, or not Dr. Detective Chin. Detective Chin says, nah, I gotta. I gotta go back to the office. And I've also got my husband. And we see that the apartment that sits. So. So Noreen's husband helped Sam find this apartment. But it needs a little. It's not finished. And then we cut to. This isn't Noreen, is it? Who's this? [00:51:18] Speaker A: Holly. [00:51:18] Speaker B: But I thought Holly got garrotted. [00:51:21] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:51:22] Speaker B: Who's the. Who's the lady that Shadow Man Bunk kills in this car? [00:51:25] Speaker A: They're all ladies. [00:51:28] Speaker B: So. So this is. If this is Holly, She's. [00:51:31] Speaker A: Holly's the other lady. I don't know. [00:51:33] Speaker B: Yeah, somebody. Somebody. Oh, no, this is definitely Detective Chin because she's got her hair up and she's like, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go check my schedule. I'm gonna go relax and say Spawn is in her window. And he says, I wouldn't bother. Your schedule's going to be full. [00:51:47] Speaker A: Hope it's not. I don't think it is. No. She's thicker. [00:51:51] Speaker B: No, he doesn't. He's not giving her information. I don't know who. [00:51:54] Speaker A: She's in, like, a fancy ass apartment. [00:51:55] Speaker B: Dude. [00:51:56] Speaker A: This is just another. Works for the. You can't tell women apart. It's your flaw. [00:52:00] Speaker B: Yeah, they all look the same to me. I don't know. I wish they. [00:52:05] Speaker A: I don't know who they are either. They're just shadow players. They're shadow players. [00:52:08] Speaker B: And then we see. We see Noreen's husband announcing that they've found a good buyer for the New York City police pensions. And they're going to get a 6%. [00:52:18] Speaker A: On their investments because there's Detective Chen, like, right after. [00:52:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:23] Speaker A: She was not that other lady. [00:52:24] Speaker B: White. White Pearl is. Is buying the pensions. And then Detective Chin discovers that, you know, NGRI is owned by 27 shell companies, and 60% are owned by Blue Holt. And Blue Holt's investors include four to seven. Four of seven board members from White Pearl. Curiouser and curiouser. And then we get two people that we've never seen before in a fancy office building. And this lady brings over this small case to the man at the desk, and she's like, we had to. We had to close our new. We had to close our new location. We had to close the location. It's fine. We got. We got what we needed out of there. It didn't work. And the man behind the desk says, interesting. It was the subjects. It didn't take. Well, with humans then. Time to move on to phase two and try it directly on a hell spawn. [00:53:19] Speaker A: And we see, oh, my God, it's a chip. [00:53:21] Speaker B: Chip. An NGRI chip on the hellspawn. I don't know which hell spawn. Who knows? There's no shortage of hell spawns to choose from. Now, Johnny, I have a feeling that's going to tie in nicely if they remember while writing. So that could tie in nicely. [00:53:37] Speaker A: Lots of. [00:53:38] Speaker B: If somebody. If somebody other than Todd McFarlane writes the next arc, then we will know that those characters will be remembered and used appropriately. And then we get Spawn, Orbit, and the blood. The blood splatter to end the issue. Then we get that. That spawn issue One statue ad, the UFC fighters toy ad, New Generations, new stories, new. You add Curse of Shirley Johnson, Rat City, the Tales of the Gunslinger, Black Ratchewel, and then there's the Image classics ad on the back. And that Johnny, Sam and Twitch number 18. And we. We talked about her earlier, and she's stinky. So I'm gonna have to rate stinky puppies as unpleasant. [00:54:24] Speaker A: Odiferous. [00:54:25] Speaker B: Odiferous. Stinky. They're stinky. I'm going to rate her stinky. But, Johnny, these puppies need to get ready rated, so. [00:54:32] Speaker A: They need to get ready to get rated. [00:54:33] Speaker B: Yeah, they do. So we should rate these puppies. [00:54:36] Speaker A: Johnny, it's time to rate the puppies. First up, we had Rat City 18. I loved it. I mean, it was. I'm just loving this arc, loving this story. I'm loving the whole story. I love that we get the big reveal of the eviscerator on the throne at the end. [00:54:57] Speaker B: That's dope as hell. [00:54:59] Speaker A: The art's just electric and, like, she's Erica Schultz just using, like, forging her own path while acknowledging and using the universe around her. And it's just a great, fun story. I always enjoy Rat City. [00:55:15] Speaker B: It's very good. [00:55:17] Speaker A: I'm going to give it five ship hazards out of five. [00:55:21] Speaker B: Nice. I agree. This story is just. It's a good story, and it's bounced around so easily between all of these different threads that are going on. And the Zay Carlos art just continues to be electric. Absolutely electric. And, man, fucking. I love Kizzy. Kizzy's fucking awesome. [00:55:46] Speaker A: Okay? [00:55:47] Speaker B: I don't want Kizzy to die. I want him. I want Quinlan to be sure to not let Kizzy go. Because I think that's gonna be a nice, good dynamic. I think, as we go, you know, after this trial, there's gonna be. It's gonna be Quinlan and Kizzy and Peter, and there's gonna be fun dynamics. It's not always gonna be fun. You know, they're gonna have their issues, but I like where it's going. So I. Johnny, I'm also gonna give it five. I'm gonna give it five. This little rat here, because I think he's a cute. I think it's a cute little rat. [00:56:17] Speaker A: Like the rat. [00:56:18] Speaker B: Like the rat. Which means, Johnny, it's a member of the Hellfire. It's a member of the Hellfire. It's getting warm in here. [00:56:29] Speaker A: Next up, we had Sam Twitch 18. [00:56:32] Speaker B: Yes, we did. [00:56:33] Speaker A: Case files. 18. [00:56:35] Speaker B: 18 case files. [00:56:37] Speaker A: It is the final arc, the final issue of the second arc, which I thought was very successful. I enjoyed it. I thought I had a little, like, Return of the King syndrome. A little too long in the ending after the action with, like, explaining. Explaining. [00:56:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:56:50] Speaker A: It seems like setting up more stories. I'll be interested to see how much the next arc is tied to this. If it is at all, if it'll come back to it. Who knows? It's comic books, maybe. [00:56:59] Speaker B: It ended so many times that when it actually ended. [00:57:02] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:57:02] Speaker B: You didn't stand up because you were like, if they're just gonna do it, I'm not gonna sit back down again. [00:57:08] Speaker A: Not that bad, but, like, a little bit. But I really enjoyed it. I would give it four and a half Nostradamuses in a box. [00:57:18] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. It's a great rating. I. I enjoyed it, too. This was a great. This was a great little. Little mystery. I mean, I like the grittiness of the art. Not a fan of me not knowing which lady was which. [00:57:33] Speaker A: But, you know, I mean, there's shit thrown at you. [00:57:36] Speaker B: There's. [00:57:36] Speaker A: The only thing with it. [00:57:37] Speaker B: There is. There's like. [00:57:38] Speaker A: It was like, okay, we're gonna Kind of over explain everything and add more shit and like it was like it was a little too much in the last like two or three pages. [00:57:44] Speaker B: Yeah, I could have done a little less. Yeah, I could have done with three or four pages less. But it's still, it's still fucking. It was a satisfying ending to the, to the arc and yeah, I like it. I like it. I'm gonna give it. I'm gonna give it three and a half. This awesome panel of Sam getting shot in the shoulder just because it's beautiful. It's like out of Sin City. [00:58:05] Speaker A: It is. [00:58:06] Speaker B: It's gritty, it's nice. Good color balance. That says puppies rated, Johnny. Yeah, very good. Very good. You know what else is very good, Johnny? [00:58:17] Speaker A: Our friends on Instagram. [00:58:18] Speaker B: Our friends on Instagram, our fins fan. Fantastic. Well, this week, Johnny, we want to shout out a. A little friend named Marco Polo 0254. And they are a comic collector, a spawn fanatic, an avid hockey fan, a dog dad, a donut lover, and sometimes they ride bike. Johnny. That is their whole profile. [00:58:43] Speaker A: Sounds good to me. [00:58:43] Speaker B: They got, they got a lot of. They got a lot of cool sponsorship. It also looks like they got a whatnot page where they're also selling stuff, so. But they got some good looking spawn stuff. They, they are friends with Spawn Hunter. I think they're sharing stuff with Spawn Hunter. Very nice. And that's Marco. Polo 0254. Marco spelled M A R K O. Polo. P o l o 0254. [00:59:07] Speaker A: Give him a follow. [00:59:08] Speaker B: Give it. [00:59:08] Speaker A: Do it while you're there. Follow us. We are regarding Spawn Pod. [00:59:12] Speaker B: Yes, we are. [00:59:32] Speaker A: Yeah, you like it better than the first or do you like the first one better? [00:59:35] Speaker B: Yeah, what about the second one? Is it. Was there a second one or is this the second one? [00:59:39] Speaker A: This is the second one you dap. [00:59:42] Speaker B: Geez. [00:59:43] Speaker A: This is the second one you dap. [00:59:45] Speaker B: Long ass arcs. Shit. [00:59:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Nine issue arcs, I guess. [00:59:51] Speaker B: Good work if you can get it. [01:00:25] Speaker A: And if you want to tell them what to listen to next week, you can tell we're going to be reading two different issues to spawn. [01:00:32] Speaker B: Yeah, you can tell them, hey, if you. If you. If you read these new issues, you can hear them talk about it in real time. But they're not new, new issues because time's going by too quickly. Yeah. [01:00:47] Speaker A: What do we read next? [01:00:50] Speaker B: We should have another Rootin Tootin Good time, Johnny. Have a little gunslinger action going on. [01:00:55] Speaker A: All right. [01:00:56] Speaker B: With Deadly Tales of the gunslinger number 10 and gunslinger 47. [01:01:02] Speaker A: Okay, let's do it. [01:01:03] Speaker B: It's gonna be a good time. I'm excited for it. I love those two. I am, too. They're good together. While you're on the Internet rating, reviewing and visiting Marco Polo and us on Instagram, wander on over and Google yourself a little Lonnie Bones music. Because Lonnie Bones does our music. One of the two, I think. I think that means it's got nothing else to say, but may the scorched be with you. [01:01:53] Speaker A: And also with you, David. [01:01:54] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [01:01:56] Speaker A: Hell, yeah. [01:01:58] Speaker B: You know what, Johnny? Lost is good as hell. We were talking about jungles earlier. That shit takes place in a jungle. Jungle. [01:02:06] Speaker A: You know, six places that juggle fucking. David. Aliens. And they're real. And UAPs are real. And UFOs are real. And the government has four. At least four biologics recovered from the Roswell crash. [01:02:16] Speaker B: Okay, okay. [01:02:17] Speaker A: Listen to me. [01:02:22] Speaker B: All right, I'm listening, Sam. It.
