[00:00:00] Speaker A: Heres a suggestion. Instead of blaming big oil as the. [00:00:04] Speaker B: Cause for every forest fire, why dont. [00:00:06] Speaker A: They worry about whats really happening to our planet? Like the steady stream of confirmed reports involving costumed subhumans. [00:00:15] Speaker B: Every day a new sighting comes in. [00:00:18] Speaker A: Were being overrun with these so called costumed heroes. [00:00:23] Speaker B: Well, im sick of it. Why all of a sudden is this happening? [00:00:27] Speaker A: And I'll punch you if you say fracking. Good evening and welcome to the Mal bulge. This is regarding spawn, the world's best spawn podcast. I am your co host, Jon Fisher. [00:01:12] Speaker C: And I am your co host, David Williams. [00:01:14] Speaker B: And Johnny, we made it. Can you believe it? What do we make it to? [00:01:20] Speaker C: We made it. We made it. Here. [00:01:21] Speaker B: Here. [00:01:22] Speaker C: Like, we're here and we're doing the thing. [00:01:24] Speaker A: I mean, we're here doing it not to. [00:01:26] Speaker C: Not to put our personal lives on blast or demean any of the. Oh, yeah, any, anything that happens. But I mean, it's been a little bit of a rollercoaster for both of us this week, and I've been a rough week. I thought that this, this little bit of joy was going to be taken from us by the United States health and healthcare system, but, but they came. [00:01:48] Speaker B: Through for us, Johnny. We got them. [00:01:51] Speaker C: Somehow it came through for us. And now we're here. [00:01:54] Speaker B: And it's amazing. We're here. We made it. It's more like the, I mean, if. [00:01:58] Speaker A: We go to spawn, then the american healthcare system's run by the Exodus corporation because they got their fingers at everything. I could totally believe it, too. [00:02:05] Speaker C: But I mean, would we then have to go to, like, a symbiote based medicine system where the cure for any ill is become attached to this goopy thing and then eat a whole bunch of earthworms? [00:02:21] Speaker A: Yeah, anytime you're sick, it's just like, sorry, you gotta be a spawn now. You'll live forever. [00:02:26] Speaker C: There'll be a run on earthworms. Like all those little, those little bait and tackle shops in the middle of nowhere, in the hills, will just, they'll become instant billionaires overnight, and they'll get. [00:02:39] Speaker B: To, you know, retire and not have. [00:02:41] Speaker C: To worry about working. [00:02:43] Speaker A: And the third pundit can blame Joe Biden for the earthworm shortage. It'll be great. [00:02:50] Speaker B: I mean, I mean, sure. [00:02:53] Speaker C: What else would he do? [00:02:54] Speaker A: Of course he would love it right now. He would love railing on Joe Biden. [00:02:58] Speaker C: I guess technically calling somebody a worm right now would be, is an insult, but then it would come around to being a compliment. Like, he's a real worm. Like, he refreshes my necroplasm. [00:03:13] Speaker A: Well, welcome, everybody. [00:03:15] Speaker B: Welcome to regarding spawned, everyone's favorite spawn. [00:03:20] Speaker A: Podcast, with two hosts named John Fisher and David Williams. [00:03:24] Speaker C: I mean, it's definitely my favorite. [00:03:26] Speaker A: So it's wide, too. I mean, it has to be. If we discover there's another podcast where the people have our same name, we lose it. [00:03:35] Speaker C: At this point, I wouldn't be surprised. [00:03:38] Speaker A: I can't change my name. [00:03:39] Speaker C: It's David. I mean, I could. You can. You just have to go. You just have to fill out a sheet and go talk to a judge. [00:03:47] Speaker B: And then you have to. [00:03:48] Speaker A: You have to put in the newspaper, don't you? [00:03:50] Speaker C: Yeah, you have to advertise it. And I think it's at least three newspapers for two weeks. It doesn't even have to be a newspaper that anybody, you know, is gonna see. It just has to be publicly printed. [00:04:01] Speaker B: So. Uh. Oh, yeah. [00:04:03] Speaker C: And in Chicago, all the neighborhoods have, like, a. [00:04:08] Speaker B: A local. [00:04:08] Speaker C: Local newspaper. Local in quotes. [00:04:11] Speaker B: That. [00:04:12] Speaker C: That is run by the same company. And literally all of the classifieds are just like, this is put out here for legal reasons. So it's just like. That's just where everybody dumps all their legal announcements because they know nobody's gonna look at them, and it fills the requirement. [00:04:31] Speaker A: It's a great Nathan for you episode where they have to change a guy's name, so they invent a newspaper so that no one will be able to find it. [00:04:40] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:04:40] Speaker A: And they named the paper the diarrhea Times. [00:04:44] Speaker C: That's kind of how it feels. It's kind of how it feels because we had to do that for Wanda when we got married. And then the courthouse literally gives you a list of the publications, and you just circle the one they want you to send it to. [00:05:00] Speaker A: Oh, nice. [00:05:01] Speaker B: That's funny. [00:05:02] Speaker C: It's like two sheets of paper printed off, and it's like I've. [00:05:07] Speaker B: What? [00:05:08] Speaker C: How. What are these? What are these titles? [00:05:12] Speaker B: It's ridiculous. [00:05:13] Speaker A: Well, we're not changing our names. If we were, I'd be changing mine to brock the shock fennel, obviously. [00:05:19] Speaker B: My hero. [00:05:21] Speaker A: But we are changing minds about spawn, bringing on spawn verts two issues at a time. [00:05:29] Speaker B: Most of the time. [00:05:30] Speaker C: Most of the time. Except for when we don't do two issues. [00:05:34] Speaker A: I didn't set up the right grammar for the correct normal thing. I say, that's fine, but I like to see people on their toes. You know, it's familiar but different. [00:05:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:44] Speaker A: It's just like the Force Awakens. [00:05:46] Speaker C: It's playing with expectations. It's like you go to see barbarian and then you're like, goddamn it, it's Justin Long. And then, like, ten minutes into it, you're like, oh, fuck, yes, I'm glad what they did to Justin Long. [00:05:59] Speaker A: Or you go to see a Star wars movie, instead of a lightsaber battle, they have him fight a ghost, and they have a woman named Rose Tico in it. [00:06:08] Speaker C: Or. Or it ends up being that Emperor Palpatine is just that doctor that turns into a cenobite at the end of Hellraiser two, pretty much. [00:06:21] Speaker A: Hey, at least they're addressing that stuff in the Mandalorian. I was shocked when he was talking about working as cloning for the emperor, basically. [00:06:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:29] Speaker A: I don't know if you've watched the newest episode. [00:06:31] Speaker C: No, I haven't. [00:06:32] Speaker B: Spoiler alert. [00:06:33] Speaker C: Spoiler alert. [00:06:34] Speaker B: Oh, hey. [00:06:35] Speaker C: I mean, I would much rather get it from you than Twitter. [00:06:37] Speaker A: So it's one line of dialogue. It's fine. [00:06:39] Speaker C: Yeah, no, my friends have already been talking about it, because I was like, yeah, go ahead. It's fine. It's not gonna ruin my enjoyment of the show. [00:06:47] Speaker A: There's a lot of it in Coruscant, which is nice. I love some Coruscant, man. [00:06:51] Speaker C: I love. I just love the cyberpunky of Coruscant. [00:06:56] Speaker A: Oh, there's one part you'll love, then. Okay. [00:06:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:58] Speaker C: Anything in the clone wars where they have to go to Coruscant, and they're, like, on the lower, lower levels, they're, like, on level 172 or some shit like that, it's just wet and dark all the time. Oh, man, I love it. [00:07:12] Speaker A: Spawn is often wet and dark, I would say, especially King Spawn, which is what we're covering first today. [00:07:19] Speaker B: In our two issues, we have king. [00:07:21] Speaker A: Spawn number six and gunslinger spawn 16 with that lovely. [00:07:29] Speaker B: The six six. [00:07:30] Speaker A: Back with the six sixes. [00:07:31] Speaker C: The 616. Hey, Johnny, we're in the Marvel. The Marvel Universe for comic books. The 616 is. [00:07:38] Speaker A: That's the real main Marvel universe. [00:07:39] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the idea behind that, if you don't know, was, so DC and Marvel both have multiverses, and when DC made their multiverses, they made the main continuity universe one. And Stanley was like, that's ridiculous and presumptuous. We're not the main beings at the middle of everything. So when Marvel made their multiverse, he was like, let's just pick a random number that's not number one. And he came up with 616. [00:08:09] Speaker A: So that's a nice ring to it. [00:08:11] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:13] Speaker B: So that's. That's. [00:08:14] Speaker C: That's fun. I like, oh, man, Stanley. [00:08:17] Speaker A: So you could say Stan Lee said, execute universe 616. [00:08:23] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, definitely. Definitely. [00:08:26] Speaker B: He would have done. It's. It's. [00:08:27] Speaker C: Oh, it's hard to. Who would. It's hard to decide who was the better high energy salesman for their comic properties, Stan Lee or the toddfather. [00:08:43] Speaker B: There's definitely. [00:08:45] Speaker C: There's definitely a little bit of Stan Lee in the toddfather. [00:08:47] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. I mean, he might own a little. [00:08:51] Speaker A: Bit of Stan Lee. At the end of his life. His servant was selling his blood, so. [00:08:56] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, man. [00:08:58] Speaker A: Maybe he bought some. [00:08:59] Speaker B: Maybe. [00:09:00] Speaker C: Maybe he inked a. Maybe he inked a spawn with it. It was the last. It was the last pen and paper spawn that he ever drew, which is why he is now 100% digital. Speaking about blood in comic books, do you know about the kiss comic book from, like, 20 years ago? [00:09:19] Speaker A: Kiss psycho circus? [00:09:20] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:21] Speaker B: Where they. [00:09:21] Speaker C: Yeah, they all donated some blood and then had the printers mix the blood in with the ink. [00:09:26] Speaker A: Oh, did they? [00:09:27] Speaker C: Yeah. So. [00:09:30] Speaker B: That whole first printing of the. [00:09:33] Speaker C: First issue had a little bit of all of the kiss members blood in it. [00:09:37] Speaker B: Nice. [00:09:38] Speaker A: I remember those. It was McFarland. And they had the McFarlane toys for it, too. [00:09:41] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they did. They did. Oh, man. [00:09:44] Speaker A: I definitely remember the toys and being like, oh, those are cool looking. [00:09:48] Speaker C: That's when the sculpting, like, they were able to get much finer details, and. [00:09:52] Speaker B: So they were able to get. [00:09:54] Speaker C: Go crazy with the sculpting. It was, man, just even though I remember those figures. [00:10:01] Speaker B: No, go ahead. [00:10:02] Speaker C: Oh, I was gonna say even those. Those first McFarlane figures, you know, nowadays were like, eh, you know, they're okay. But, I mean, at the time, they were massively detailed, and then just the progression through the nineties to what they became is just like, yeah. Holy crap. [00:10:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:17] Speaker A: By the time they got to, like, the early two thousands, they were pretty crazy. That's when I was mainly buying them from Suncoast video. I remember the biggest one I had was probably I had an alien queen by McFarland. It was awesome. [00:10:29] Speaker C: Ooh, nice. [00:10:30] Speaker B: It was huge. [00:10:31] Speaker A: Huge. [00:10:33] Speaker B: First up on the docket, we've got. [00:10:37] Speaker A: Kingspaw number six, all the way back from the far off land of January 2022. [00:10:44] Speaker C: I was about to say, that's not that long ago. It was only a couple of months ago, but that was a year and a couple of months ago. [00:10:49] Speaker A: Year and a couple months ago. [00:10:51] Speaker B: Woo. [00:10:52] Speaker C: Oh, somebody's a dummy. [00:10:54] Speaker A: 2023 is such a abstract number. Like 2020, you know, that was the future Spider Man. 2020. Everything I felt is always 2020, X Men, 2020. But, like, I don't know, 2023 just seems like it's way too far. [00:11:09] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:10] Speaker A: Jurassic Park's 30 years old. No, thank you. [00:11:15] Speaker C: Yeah, that's no bueno. Three is always very weird. 1983 was 40 years ago. [00:11:23] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:11:24] Speaker C: Oh, boy. [00:11:26] Speaker A: That means I'm almost 40. [00:11:28] Speaker B: Oh, boy. Lordy, Lordy. Well, luckily. [00:11:32] Speaker C: Luckily, this podcast will turn 40 before you turn 40. 40 episodes, that is. But we won't get there if we don't get to the spawn. [00:11:40] Speaker A: So this is king spawn number six. [00:11:42] Speaker B: We've got. [00:11:42] Speaker A: Of course, we've got two Sean Lewis on the script plot. [00:11:46] Speaker B: Yep. [00:11:46] Speaker C: And Javi Fernandez on the. Oh, I skipped over the additional dialogue by Todd McFarlane. [00:11:52] Speaker A: Yeah, he skipped over the top five, man. [00:11:56] Speaker C: How could I? How could I? [00:11:57] Speaker A: I was too excited to get that additional dialogue. [00:12:01] Speaker B: You wrote it. [00:12:03] Speaker C: Javi Fernandez doing the art. I was too excited to get the. [00:12:05] Speaker B: Javi Fernandez Johnny, because, I mean, I can understand why. [00:12:10] Speaker C: Oh, this. [00:12:11] Speaker B: This issue especially, it's, oh, so good. [00:12:15] Speaker C: Uh, get colors by FCO placencia and Ulysses. Aurelio. [00:12:22] Speaker B: Aurelio. Uh, Endworld design. [00:12:25] Speaker C: Pulling up the lettering again. [00:12:27] Speaker B: We got two covers, Johnny. Two covers. [00:12:29] Speaker A: Two covers. [00:12:30] Speaker C: Two covers. Is it Jonathan Glampion and a Javi Fernandez cover? [00:12:34] Speaker B: Um, and which one do you have? Oh, I've got the both. [00:12:39] Speaker A: I've got the both. [00:12:40] Speaker C: The both. I've got. I've got the. [00:12:43] Speaker B: I've got the Fernandez cover with the crown with the. Yeah, it's just owl in shadow with. [00:12:51] Speaker C: The flaming bright crown of thorn thorns on his head. And it is creepy and absolutely gorgeous. [00:12:58] Speaker A: It's just a good, like, Javi Fernandez texture to it with, like, the green all over him. And then, like, the lines of light kind of coming from the crown that go down his face. [00:13:08] Speaker B: Yeah. And up. There's also. I don't. [00:13:11] Speaker C: I don't know what's going on, but the, like, the COVID of paper actually feels a little thicker, and there's, like, more of a discernible texture on it, and it's somehow miraculously unscathed from my bag on the way home, so it is just. [00:13:25] Speaker A: Wow. [00:13:26] Speaker C: It is just, like, exceptionally beautiful. [00:13:28] Speaker B: I also have that cover, and I have cover a, which is Jonathan Glapion and. [00:13:36] Speaker A: Oh, my God. It's a real scary spawn. [00:13:38] Speaker C: Oh, I just looked it up. [00:13:39] Speaker B: Holy shit. [00:13:40] Speaker A: He's got, like, a giant violator mouth and spiky, and it's, like, plague spawn mixed with spawn, kinda. [00:13:46] Speaker C: Oh, holy. Holy crap. That is nightmare fuel. [00:13:49] Speaker B: That is a that's one of those. [00:13:51] Speaker C: Books we talk about where it's like, should I be reading this on the bus? Is some kid's mother gonna come over here and tell me, hey, what are you waving in my kid's face? [00:14:01] Speaker A: Those new fangorias have got some gory covers. And I. One time I was reading it on the bus, and I just had to, like, I was just, like, silently trying to hide the page, like, the COVID and the page. Cause it's like a gory picture on the page. It's like, I don't want to seem like a sicko. [00:14:16] Speaker C: It's like when people are watching movies or television on their phones, and then you can always tell when, like, a sex scene or some nudity comes up, because they always, like, curl in on themselves in turn. [00:14:29] Speaker A: My favorite story of someone watching something in public is I was flying on an international flight a few years ago. [00:14:36] Speaker B: And a dad was, like, showing a. [00:14:39] Speaker A: Kid how to use it. [00:14:40] Speaker B: Like, picked him out a movie, you. [00:14:42] Speaker A: Know, sort of the superhero section, and he picked him deadpool. And he got about five minutes into that opening credits, like, fight on the highway, where everyone's like, heads were blowing up, and it's super violent before the dad noticed and was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. But, I mean, the dad started it for. It was the dad's fault for not checking it out. Kim. [00:15:06] Speaker C: Just loving it, man. [00:15:08] Speaker B: I bet. [00:15:08] Speaker C: Oh, I bet that kid was so pissed when his dad found out. I bet he was sitting there trying to be, like. Like, trying to figure out how best to not alert his dad to the. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Fact that he's like, just be cool, just be cool. [00:15:20] Speaker C: Just be cool. [00:15:21] Speaker A: Even though this is awesome. There's people's heads exploding. [00:15:24] Speaker C: Just like the first r rated movie I ever saw. I remember knowing it was r rated, but my parents were like, let's put this on. And, like, movie. I was just like, they're gonna find out. They're gonna find out, and I'm not gonna be able to watch any more of it. They're gonna find out. [00:15:38] Speaker A: Do you remember what movie it was? [00:15:40] Speaker C: It was the ghost in the darkness. [00:15:41] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Wow. [00:15:44] Speaker B: I think mine was speed. [00:15:45] Speaker C: Oh, nice. [00:15:47] Speaker A: Ghost in the darkness is pretty tame. [00:15:49] Speaker C: Yeah, def. I definitely think it would be a PG 13. [00:15:52] Speaker B: Now. There's not even, like, visceral rending of flesh. [00:15:57] Speaker C: There's just, like, some blood. [00:15:59] Speaker A: Well, David, it's weird, because that was a time when the studios wanted movies to be radar because they thought adults wouldn't go see them if they weren't. Now they don't like radar. Movies used to be, like, big blockbusters all the time. [00:16:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:13] Speaker A: Cause adults used to go to movies. Not these. [00:16:16] Speaker B: Not these. [00:16:17] Speaker A: What are they called? Kiddults. [00:16:19] Speaker C: Kidults. [00:16:20] Speaker A: Kiddults that are buying McDonald's happy meals and going to see Marvel movies and talking about spawn on the Internet. [00:16:27] Speaker C: Fuck those people. [00:16:28] Speaker B: Johnny buying. [00:16:30] Speaker A: Buy McFarland toys. Who does that? Who drunkenly pre ordered a dragon two days ago? [00:16:36] Speaker C: Oh, you did? Oh, congratulations. [00:16:39] Speaker B: Oh, I love. [00:16:39] Speaker A: See, the problem with Amazon is you can preorder it and then you can cancel it and it doesn't charge you. [00:16:43] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:44] Speaker A: So, like, I'll pre order tons of. [00:16:45] Speaker B: Stuff and then be like, nope. [00:16:47] Speaker A: And just cancel it, like, at the last minute. [00:16:49] Speaker C: I love that. Like, the story of the clans of the dragons comes on the boxes, but, like, isn't anywhere else. I kind of want the toddfather to put out a dragon's comic book, so that way we can. He should totally do that, man. That would be amazing. [00:17:03] Speaker B: That'd be awesome. [00:17:03] Speaker A: No, there's one called the berserker I saw a picture of, and I was like, that looks really cool. And I went and checked Amazon. They had a normal price for pre order, so I did. We'll see if I continue with it. [00:17:13] Speaker B: But I did get. [00:17:15] Speaker A: They had a big sale at Walmart. I almost texted you, but then I was like, I got busy. [00:17:19] Speaker C: It was like, 50% off. [00:17:20] Speaker B: Right? [00:17:22] Speaker A: I got a grifter from wildcats for $5. [00:17:26] Speaker B: Holy shit. [00:17:27] Speaker C: Holy shit. [00:17:28] Speaker A: They had a lot of $5 figures. It was crazy nice, but yeah. [00:17:33] Speaker B: So I'm no kid alt, but these. [00:17:36] Speaker A: Kid alts don't go see movies anymore. Well, I guess there are rated r blockbusters. We got John Wick coming out again. [00:17:41] Speaker B: Yeah. John Wick four. [00:17:43] Speaker A: Spawn will be a rated r blockbuster. [00:17:45] Speaker C: Yeah, it will be. It will be. It's a sad day, though. The John Wick four will be the last John Wick for a while, at least. [00:17:52] Speaker A: I think they're making a spin off about the hotel. [00:17:55] Speaker C: That would be cool. That would be cool. I mean, it's amazing that, like, a low budget action flick like, that just blew up so incredibly, and they're just like, well, hell, yeah. [00:18:03] Speaker B: No, it's awesome, man. [00:18:06] Speaker A: Who would Keanu Reeves be in Spawn? Jim Downing. [00:18:12] Speaker B: Uh, I mean, he'd be a good Jim downing. [00:18:15] Speaker A: I know we don't love Jim Downing, but he'd be good at it. [00:18:17] Speaker B: He's not blonde, though. [00:18:19] Speaker C: I'm not concerned about the blonde. I'm concerned about the. I'm concerned about his demeanor, because Jim Downing's kind of more of an arrogant guy, and. Yeah, and you're right. [00:18:31] Speaker B: Keanu. [00:18:32] Speaker C: Keanu Reeves in always be my maybe where he played himself as an absolute jerk. It was beautiful for comedy. I don't know if he could be. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Arrogant for, like, like, straight up arrogant with no. No sort of comedy. [00:18:51] Speaker A: See, as far as this, if we're. [00:18:52] Speaker B: Casting, like, his soul, I'd have to say, like, let's say the studio's chicken out again. [00:18:59] Speaker A: They make like, okay, Terry has to be white cow. [00:19:02] Speaker B: Reeves would be a great Terry. [00:19:04] Speaker C: He would be. He would be a great white Terry. Great white Terry. [00:19:07] Speaker A: Great white or great white Terry? [00:19:09] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:19:09] Speaker A: Oh, look. It's a rare great white Terry. Stevie Sweeney. [00:19:13] Speaker C: Actually, you know what I think? [00:19:15] Speaker B: I think, you know, his demeanor, his. [00:19:18] Speaker C: Disposition, his often disheveledness. I think he'd be a really good bootsy. [00:19:27] Speaker B: Oh, wow. [00:19:27] Speaker A: He's an angel. [00:19:28] Speaker C: Yeah, he'd be an angel. He'd be an angel in disguise. [00:19:33] Speaker A: He is an angel in disguise. [00:19:34] Speaker C: And, you know, in real irl, you know, he would look really good in just, like, schlubby clothes and just some fabulous boots. [00:19:43] Speaker A: And then at the end, he flies off into heaven. [00:19:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:47] Speaker C: Does he, though? Because he sacrifices himself in a. [00:19:50] Speaker A: No, he doesn't. He gets banished from heaven. [00:19:53] Speaker B: Sad. [00:19:55] Speaker C: That's my casting for Keanu Reeves in the spawn movie. [00:19:58] Speaker B: Is bootsy all right? [00:20:00] Speaker A: I hope bootsy makes it to the movie. [00:20:01] Speaker C: Yeah. Who would be Bobby aside him, though? Cause, you know, you gotta have a Bobby with your bootsie. [00:20:07] Speaker B: Lawrence Fishburne. Why not? [00:20:15] Speaker C: Oh, it's perfect. Oh, alternatively. Alternatively. Oh, shit. What's his name? Cause I'm thinking of Bobby's eyes and. [00:20:25] Speaker B: Oh. [00:20:25] Speaker A: Oh. [00:20:26] Speaker C: Forrest Whitaker. [00:20:27] Speaker A: Kevin James. [00:20:29] Speaker C: No, I was thinking Forrest Whitaker because Forrest Whitaker could look drunk pretty easily. [00:20:34] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got some wild eyes. There's always something going on back there. [00:20:39] Speaker C: But now maybe Laurence Fishburne would be good. [00:20:42] Speaker B: Hey, they like working together. Yeah. [00:20:45] Speaker C: I think Lawrence Fishburne could probably be. [00:20:47] Speaker B: A little bit more of the comedic. [00:20:50] Speaker C: Character than Forrest Whitaker would be. I think Forrest Whitaker might bring too much gravitas to Bobby. [00:20:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:56] Speaker A: I mean, Laura Fisherman does have, like, he was serious in the Matrix, but a lot of his roles, he does have a bit of humor to it. [00:21:01] Speaker C: But, I mean, he was also. Who was he on Pee Wee's playhouse? [00:21:06] Speaker A: Yeah, he was, uh, the. He's the cowboy. [00:21:08] Speaker B: Yeah, no, I know. [00:21:11] Speaker A: No, he's got. He's got great comedic chops. [00:21:13] Speaker C: Cowboy Curtis. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Cowboy Curtis. [00:21:17] Speaker B: That would be great. [00:21:18] Speaker C: We could get Pee wee in on this, too. [00:21:21] Speaker A: Oh, Pee wee. I don't know who peewee would be in spawned. [00:21:25] Speaker B: That's a. That's a. [00:21:26] Speaker C: That's a hard. That's a real hard cast. [00:21:30] Speaker B: I'll have to think about that one. [00:21:32] Speaker C: Well, why don't we think while we're thinking on it, after we continue on with some king spawn number six, Johnny. [00:21:38] Speaker B: Previously in Spawn. [00:21:41] Speaker A: The identity of disruptor has been revealed as the one man who had bested Al in the pass, Jason Wynn. But how did a man that has been dead for years come into so much power? [00:21:53] Speaker C: Good question. Good question. [00:21:55] Speaker A: Good question. Maybe we'll find out. [00:21:57] Speaker B: Yeah, so, I mean, we don't have. [00:22:00] Speaker C: To wait very long to find out. [00:22:03] Speaker B: We really don't. [00:22:04] Speaker A: He tells him right off the bat. [00:22:05] Speaker C: He jumps right into it. We got a. He starts off shooting spawn with a psychoplasm beam and starts, you know, James Bond villain monologuing to him. [00:22:15] Speaker A: Oh, I thought he was working him out, like, working out his abs. He's like, feel that burn. [00:22:19] Speaker C: Either that, or he's trying to convince him to vote, uh, far, far left and say, feel the burn, Jason. [00:22:27] Speaker A: Feel that burn. I'm a birdie, bro. [00:22:29] Speaker B: Spawn. You bet you didn't expect that Jason. [00:22:34] Speaker C: Would definitely, definitely didn't. Definitely wouldn't have. [00:22:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:39] Speaker A: I don't think Jason Wynn would have. [00:22:40] Speaker B: Been a Bernie bro Trump probably would. [00:22:42] Speaker A: Have been too centrist for him. [00:22:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Also, both those. [00:22:48] Speaker C: Both those candidates would have been harder to buy. Jason Nguyen wants a firm rights, easy to manipulate, leader deep in politics that he can. [00:22:59] Speaker A: Like. [00:22:59] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Like, he totally. [00:23:01] Speaker C: He totally would have propped up a Mike Pence run. [00:23:05] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:23:06] Speaker C: Like, okay, you doofus, here's what we're doing. [00:23:09] Speaker A: So he's shooting Al with psychoplasm, and. [00:23:12] Speaker C: He'S telling him that he traded his. [00:23:13] Speaker B: Soul for some power, and with that. [00:23:19] Speaker C: Power, wanted to ensure that he would always be his commander. So he wants to keep that. That chain of command unbroken between. Between him and his mercenary Al Simmons. [00:23:33] Speaker A: And Jim Downing, at some point, kills him. [00:23:36] Speaker B: He done. [00:23:36] Speaker C: He done fucked that up. And then demons came for him. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:23:40] Speaker C: And they. [00:23:41] Speaker A: A giant demon. [00:23:42] Speaker C: They enslaved them, and then, oh, Jesus. [00:23:45] Speaker B: We get this two page spread, which. In the back, in the back, just. [00:23:51] Speaker C: To spoil the interview, in the back, Sean Lewis refers to as Javi style splash page. [00:23:58] Speaker A: He does these a lot, and they're always great. [00:24:00] Speaker B: It's. [00:24:00] Speaker C: Oh, geez, look at this hellscape and this gigantic fucking demon and this. [00:24:05] Speaker B: There's lightning everywhere, and, oh, it's terrifying. It's gorgeous. [00:24:10] Speaker A: It's there forever. [00:24:12] Speaker C: Forever. [00:24:13] Speaker A: He was their goddamn slave. [00:24:16] Speaker C: They would be. I liked how and what they did to me. You'd even. You'd have been shocked. [00:24:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:22] Speaker A: What did they do to Jason win? [00:24:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:24] Speaker C: I don't know. Maybe they shocked him. [00:24:28] Speaker A: I mean, there is, like, cool, like. [00:24:30] Speaker B: Pink electricity shooting everywhere. [00:24:33] Speaker A: Like pink lightning. [00:24:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:34] Speaker C: And there's just, like, clouds. So it's like there's. There's electricity, clouds just floating through the. Oh, hey, Johnny, if you look at the bottom, we got those trenches. [00:24:42] Speaker B: Does that mean. [00:24:43] Speaker C: That's the Malbolge with the trenches. [00:24:46] Speaker A: The trench of hell. There he is. He's a little, tiny Malbolsha, maybe. Larry, zoom in. And he's like, hi, as it goin'look. [00:24:54] Speaker C: At my hair. It's good today. [00:24:58] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:24:59] Speaker A: No, it's a. It's a scary, scary demon. [00:25:02] Speaker B: It's. [00:25:02] Speaker C: It's great. [00:25:03] Speaker B: This is a. [00:25:05] Speaker C: It's like Godzilla as villain in a. Godzilla is the villain movie. [00:25:12] Speaker B: Just, like, lording over his destruction, her destruction. Godzilla's a woman, right? [00:25:19] Speaker C: Oh, that's in the math of Broderick one. Is Godzilla always canonically a female? [00:25:24] Speaker B: No, no. [00:25:25] Speaker C: Just in. Just in the one Godzilla movie that I've seen more than once. Yes, unfortunately for you, that was my birthday trip one year. Was going to see Godzilla in the movie theater. [00:25:36] Speaker A: I mean, as a kid, I liked it. [00:25:38] Speaker C: I haven't seen it since I wasn't a kid. But, man, I watched it all the time. I got it on vhs later that year for Christmas. Cause my aunt would always buy us movies for Christmas. So that was the year of Godzilla for David. But it was only that Godzilla. [00:25:57] Speaker A: I've watched my fair. I've watched a handful of classic godzillas, probably, like, six of them or so. And I watched every, like, the modern american ones. [00:26:06] Speaker B: Like, yeah, watch Godzilla versus Kong twice. [00:26:09] Speaker A: I like that one. [00:26:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:10] Speaker C: I mean, I'm a. I'm a fan of the, uh, the current run of Godzilla. I remember when we went to go see, you know, Godzilla with Bryan Cranston. And, like, as soon as Godzilla just shoots lightning out down the throat of that other kaiju, we were just like, oh, holy crap. [00:26:27] Speaker A: Yeah, it was awesome. [00:26:28] Speaker B: It was great. That was great. [00:26:31] Speaker A: The build up to that was just excellent. [00:26:33] Speaker C: Oh, man, it was good. [00:26:34] Speaker B: It was good. [00:26:34] Speaker C: I enjoyed it. The people who didn't like it, rubble bums. [00:26:37] Speaker A: I liked that it was restrained. Gareth Edwards was smart with it. Like, you didn't see the full godzilla till the very end. I thought that was a good way to do it. And how they kind of saw it from the people's point of view. [00:26:50] Speaker C: Yeah, the point of view of Jason. [00:26:52] Speaker A: Window isn't great because it's the backside of Billy Kincaid. [00:26:57] Speaker C: Oh, man. He's got the worst view in hell. Maybe that's what would have shocked Al Simmons, is that they had to put. [00:27:04] Speaker B: Him with a naked Billy Kincaid. [00:27:07] Speaker A: So after we see this giant demon, basically, Jason was explaining. Yes. That he had to share a cell with Billy Kincaid, who's clonking a rock. [00:27:16] Speaker B: Must be looking for trying. [00:27:18] Speaker A: He's trying to lure Cagliostro over because he's hitting a rock against the wall. Although he's, like, my favorite weapon, a rock. [00:27:26] Speaker C: The bars of the cell look like there are some gaps that they. But Jason Wynn could squeeze through at least. I wonder how many times he tried that. [00:27:33] Speaker B: Possibly. I don't know. [00:27:36] Speaker A: He looks pretty rusty. He might, like, cut himself on it. [00:27:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:39] Speaker A: You got a kind of creepy Kincaid turning around here. [00:27:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:42] Speaker A: Like classic Kincaid with his fucking chili bowl haircut, his chili Billy Willy bowl. [00:27:54] Speaker C: And then, oh, man. [00:27:58] Speaker A: Another man shows up here. [00:27:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:59] Speaker C: There's a shadowy figure. [00:28:01] Speaker B: I'm gonna. [00:28:02] Speaker C: I'm gonna take a guess, Johnny. And I'm going to guess that that is the Lemonhead guy because it's got those little pointy ends on it. So it's just the Lemonhead guy? The lemonhead guy is. [00:28:14] Speaker A: No, there's a spawn character we know with pointy hair. [00:28:18] Speaker C: Well, I mean, maybe the lemonhead guy could become. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:28:24] Speaker A: It's cloud. [00:28:24] Speaker C: We know who that is. [00:28:25] Speaker B: That's. [00:28:25] Speaker C: That's not revealed in the issue. But, you know, we're caught up to contemporary issues. We know that's. [00:28:31] Speaker B: I mean, but you can see, like. [00:28:32] Speaker A: The spikes and the hair, like, come on. [00:28:35] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:28:35] Speaker B: And the. The bald top. Um. [00:28:38] Speaker A: Come on. [00:28:39] Speaker C: Deliver me king. Spawn. [00:28:42] Speaker B: King. [00:28:42] Speaker C: That was the first time I heard them call you that. [00:28:44] Speaker B: There's this new guy who's the clown. [00:28:47] Speaker A: Who'S like, as long as we. You bring me king spawn, you can be free. [00:28:52] Speaker B: Mm hmm. King. [00:28:54] Speaker A: It's the first time I heard him. You called King. [00:28:57] Speaker B: I never explained why they used that term. [00:29:00] Speaker A: They show Kincaid kind of leading the people, like we saw in the first few issues there to go kill children. [00:29:06] Speaker B: Yep, yep, yep. [00:29:07] Speaker C: Because we all know that one thing that spawn cannot abide is the harming. [00:29:13] Speaker A: Of children, which you are killing children, as he says many times. [00:29:20] Speaker C: And then Kincaid, not Kincaid. Jason Nguyen turns into Tony Stark. Iron man. [00:29:29] Speaker A: Yes. And he runs the american healthcare system. With the exodus Corporation? [00:29:33] Speaker C: Yes, he sure does. [00:29:35] Speaker B: I like the. [00:29:36] Speaker C: I like the lab coats on those. [00:29:38] Speaker B: Scientists because I like the effect they. [00:29:42] Speaker C: Gave with the pinstripes. And, like, you can tell they're just, like, cut out pieces of paper slapped. [00:29:46] Speaker B: On there, but they look real nice. [00:29:49] Speaker A: That is cool. [00:29:51] Speaker C: A little bit of unnecessary detail here. So, at work, I have gone from being a medical technologist to a research technologist in a completely different building. And that means that our lab coats have changed. As a medical technologist, there's no risk of an open flame. So they have more polyester blend lab coats that are more water resistant, and they've got nice little pinstripes. But as research, there's more likelihood that an open flame will happen. So we have to have only cotton, and they don't have pinstripes, and they're not as stylish, and it makes me sick. [00:30:29] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:30:30] Speaker B: A pinstripes. [00:30:32] Speaker C: A pinstriped lab coat is a thing of. [00:30:34] Speaker A: I'm sorry. I wish you could still wear the pinstripe one. [00:30:36] Speaker C: Yeah, but if I accidentally caught my arm on fire, it would be totally my own fault, and, yeah, that would be bad. [00:30:43] Speaker A: We don't want you turning into Al Sym for nothing. [00:30:45] Speaker C: I don't need the paperwork work for that. I don't think I could pull off meatball head as well as he does. [00:30:53] Speaker A: So Al, like, calls his bluff. He's like, so if you're here, if you came from hell, the dead zones already been breached. And he's just like, you know, there's a small crack. Don't worry about it. [00:31:02] Speaker C: Yeah, we know. We know all about this crack now because this is obviously with clown being the one who brought them out of hell, and clown's the one who knew. [00:31:10] Speaker B: Of the fissure, although this says only. [00:31:13] Speaker C: One at a time. And sin and Cladicus were able to go through together, so. [00:31:19] Speaker A: Oh, my God. I'm quitting spawn. [00:31:23] Speaker C: I can't believe Thomas Healy let such. [00:31:25] Speaker B: A glaring plot hole through. [00:31:29] Speaker A: He probably just. We don't even know if he's telling the truth. He's like, yeah, one at a time. Like, it's basically one at a time. I mean, clown weighs 2000 pounds. [00:31:37] Speaker B: If they can get him through it. [00:31:39] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, but, I mean, you know, maybe. Maybe sin, because sin stole all that necroplasm. [00:31:45] Speaker B: Plasmum. Plasmum. [00:31:47] Speaker A: Plasm is green, just like the portal is green. [00:31:49] Speaker C: Yeah, maybe he juiced it up a little bit. Or maybe they did. Like the geese flying in v formation, where if Cladicus gets, like, right in his. His aerofoil, or whatever it's called. Right behind sin. [00:32:02] Speaker B: He can just, like, right behind him. [00:32:05] Speaker C: Flip stream, whatever it's called. [00:32:08] Speaker B: What? What? Alice? [00:32:09] Speaker A: My train of thought. [00:32:10] Speaker C: Oh, I was talking about geese. Well, Johnny, to get you back on track. [00:32:14] Speaker B: Geese. [00:32:15] Speaker A: Oh, geese. I missed the geese part. [00:32:16] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, yeah, because the geese use the, the disruption of air behind the goose in front of them to make it so they don't have to flap as hard. [00:32:25] Speaker A: That's why he's called disruptor. [00:32:27] Speaker C: Yeah, that's. He's disrupting the air patterns. [00:32:30] Speaker A: Um, he's part goose. [00:32:32] Speaker C: He's disrupting Spawn's chill here. Uh, spawn says, so you kill more children. [00:32:38] Speaker B: How dare you? Look at that hand. [00:32:40] Speaker C: Yeah, his hand just. [00:32:42] Speaker A: He just, like, giant. [00:32:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:32:44] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:32:44] Speaker C: It's like a giant nightmare spawn hand. It's. [00:32:47] Speaker B: Oh, oh, that's also the one that. [00:32:51] Speaker C: Just, uh, got the choppity chop chop in the last issue. So. So it is free to do whatever the hell it wants, because it's. It is no longer constrained by the physical body of Al Simmons. [00:33:07] Speaker B: Look at that. [00:33:08] Speaker A: Wow. [00:33:09] Speaker B: Turns giant, and then he just, like. [00:33:13] Speaker A: Takes off his mask, and he just, like, smacks him in the head with it. Clang. [00:33:19] Speaker B: And then. [00:33:22] Speaker C: You know, Terry picks up a bit of the armor that disruptor has thrown off and is like Jason Wayne. [00:33:30] Speaker B: You don't recognize me, do you? [00:33:32] Speaker C: I'm Terry Fitzgerald. [00:33:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I love that, that he just. [00:33:35] Speaker B: Picks up that, his gauntlet and shoots at him. Yeah. [00:33:41] Speaker A: Good old Terry's always very brave. [00:33:43] Speaker B: And despite fighting all these godlike creatures. [00:33:47] Speaker C: Yeah. But unfortunately, the psychoplasm doesn't hurt disruptor, because he's not made of necroplasm. [00:33:55] Speaker B: He's not a hellspawn. Oh. Oh. And then just punches Terry's jaw and dislocates it. Oh. Oh. [00:34:06] Speaker A: Terrible. [00:34:06] Speaker C: It is brutal to look at. [00:34:08] Speaker B: Oh. Oh. [00:34:10] Speaker A: Like his eyeball almost pops out. It looks like. [00:34:12] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:34:14] Speaker A: And then you get that. The sound that has happened a million times before in every horrific car crash, when metal slams into human flesh. [00:34:21] Speaker B: Ouch. Ouch. [00:34:23] Speaker C: And when you hear it, it's never good. [00:34:26] Speaker A: Yeah, never good. [00:34:28] Speaker C: Never good. [00:34:28] Speaker A: I can't think of a time when metal smacking flesh is good. [00:34:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:34:32] Speaker C: Metal technomeshed with flesh. [00:34:34] Speaker B: Yeah, occasionally good. Or, you know, if you're having sex. [00:34:41] Speaker A: With a robot doing Orlando Calrissian. [00:34:53] Speaker C: Oh. I don't know why, but I didn't expect that to be the way that we used. [00:34:58] Speaker A: Really? That's the most obvious thing. [00:35:02] Speaker C: I thought we were more mature than that. Johnny I thought you just declared that you weren't an adult child or a child adult. [00:35:08] Speaker B: No, I am. [00:35:09] Speaker A: I am a kid or a sponvert. [00:35:11] Speaker C: But not in the good way. [00:35:13] Speaker A: No, I'm a. I'm a spawnvert. Kittle, spawnkiddlevert. [00:35:23] Speaker C: Maybe. Maybe stop using combinations of pervert and kid in the same sentence. [00:35:29] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:35:32] Speaker C: You're going to get us booted off the network, Johnny. We're going to have to start our own patriot tv to keep getting fired. [00:35:43] Speaker A: And then, so basically, he's just, like. [00:35:46] Speaker B: Beating up Terry and is like, unlock. [00:35:49] Speaker A: The dead zones, Al, and I'll make this stop. And Al's just going crazy, unleashing his chains, and, like, I don't care. I don't care. [00:35:57] Speaker B: Bring it. [00:35:58] Speaker C: Al doesn't want the pain to stop, because the pain helps remind him of his humanity. [00:36:03] Speaker B: He uses it to keep from turning. [00:36:07] Speaker C: Into the complete tool of hell. He's like, if I still feel this pain, I'm still human. And that means that I can still fight against tell. [00:36:16] Speaker A: And I can remember what all of you have done to me. You get a really scary spawn face there. [00:36:20] Speaker B: Yeah, I like. I like how, like, I like the. [00:36:24] Speaker C: The back and forth between the. The faces over on the right, where the second panel is just. Just a frame for the background panel for Jason Wynn's face. Yeah, it's so. It's so dynamic. [00:36:36] Speaker A: It's like a film strip coming down. [00:36:38] Speaker B: Yeah, it's awesome, man. [00:36:41] Speaker C: Javi Fernandez is a fucking genius, Johnny. [00:36:46] Speaker B: It's like I could. [00:36:48] Speaker C: I could not imagine, like, having. Sitting down with him and having him, like, sketch out a thumbnail and be like, this is what I'm gonna do. And be like, how? That doesn't make any sense. [00:36:59] Speaker A: How did you think of that? Yeah, I know. [00:37:00] Speaker C: And then it comes out, and it's like, holy. [00:37:02] Speaker B: Holy balls. How did. Man, I love that. He does the classic, like, he, like. [00:37:10] Speaker A: Lands after he gets thrown by spawn's chains. He does the classic, like, predator. Like, I'm gonna set up a self destruct. [00:37:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:20] Speaker C: Disturbingly, Jason Wynn has a strategy, a tactic he believes is his smartest move. Suicide. [00:37:27] Speaker A: That's never a smart move for listeners. [00:37:30] Speaker C: No, it is not a smart move. Luckily for us, it doesn't work. [00:37:38] Speaker B: He just hurts himself real bad. [00:37:41] Speaker A: Yeah, but don't do that either. [00:37:45] Speaker C: Don't do that either. That's not an endorsement. If you're having any issues and that becomes an idea that you think is a good idea, please reach out. You can reach out to us. You can call 988 for the national, call 988. [00:37:58] Speaker B: 988. [00:37:59] Speaker C: I mean, yeah, reaching out to us might not be timely. Yeah, yeah, 988 is much easier to remember too, because then you don't have to be like, regardless, how do you spell it? [00:38:12] Speaker B: 988? [00:38:13] Speaker C: National Suicide prevention hotline. [00:38:16] Speaker B: Remember it? [00:38:17] Speaker A: Jason Nguyen should have called it, but he decided to blow up and then. [00:38:22] Speaker C: Blamed Spahn for it. Why couldn't you just listen? Why just accept your destiny? [00:38:31] Speaker B: He turns into a pet. He just wants me to take it. He turns into a wife. [00:38:35] Speaker C: He turns into a petulant little child now. And he's just like, just, I want you to do the thing, just. [00:38:42] Speaker B: But spawn comes up all scary and smoldering. Oh, man. [00:38:49] Speaker C: Yeah, he's like, burned the symbiote off. [00:38:52] Speaker B: So he's extra meatbally smoldering, sickly visage. [00:38:57] Speaker A: Just crushes the helmet. [00:38:59] Speaker C: Yeah, just like, stomps on it multiple, multiple times. [00:39:02] Speaker B: He's just like, hot, hot. [00:39:05] Speaker C: And he wants the names of those that freed him from hell. And Jason Wen tries using Wanda. It's a weaponized Wanda, Johnny. [00:39:14] Speaker A: A weaponized Wanda. [00:39:15] Speaker C: Alcimon's his dead wife and the reason he became spawn in the first place. [00:39:19] Speaker A: And he puts that little worm in his ear. Humans are coming back. Kincaid. Me? [00:39:25] Speaker B: Why not Wanda? [00:39:26] Speaker A: As we all know, Wanda was killed. Yeah, sometime in the late 200s. [00:39:34] Speaker B: Right? I believe. [00:39:36] Speaker C: Yeah, sometime around there. It was before the road to 300. [00:39:42] Speaker A: It was before the road to 300, so. And we'll come to find out a little bit more about that in the next few issues here with these quarter priests. [00:39:49] Speaker C: Al's like, you're taking your. Those kids, you're killing those kids for psalm 137, and you're doing all this biblical stuff. [00:39:56] Speaker B: Well, if you want to live by their biblical rules, Johnny, he says, I'm. [00:40:00] Speaker A: Gonna pluck out your eye. [00:40:01] Speaker C: You'll suffer by him too. An eye for an eye, Jason. [00:40:05] Speaker B: And then we all. [00:40:06] Speaker A: And he just rips it out, like, with, like, a big sinewy tendon. [00:40:11] Speaker B: He uses that metal thing. [00:40:12] Speaker A: Just rip out his eye. He's, like, smiling. [00:40:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:40:15] Speaker C: We should have put a content warning at the beginning of this, this episode, because this is not a kind to eyeballs issue or episode. Both issues have some eyeball mutilation going on. Jason wins remaining eyeball. Oh, man, it's. It looks. [00:40:32] Speaker A: The eyeball, evil dead two is good. It flies out of the deadite thing. [00:40:40] Speaker C: Yeah, it gets lost on it. [00:40:42] Speaker B: Yeah, really gross. Eyeball is kill Bill two, volume two. [00:40:49] Speaker A: Where she plucks out Ellie Driver's eye el driver. And steps on, and it pops. [00:40:54] Speaker B: Oh, man. Oh, man. [00:40:56] Speaker A: Pops like a grape. I was watching. I was watching a movie that had eyeball stuff that almost made me. That made me gag. [00:41:05] Speaker B: I almost threw up. [00:41:07] Speaker A: They were showing on the last drive in on shudder, they showed a german film called necromantic. [00:41:15] Speaker C: Necromantic. [00:41:16] Speaker B: Okay. [00:41:16] Speaker A: And that's a fun. Imagine. [00:41:19] Speaker C: That's a fun portmanteau. [00:41:21] Speaker A: Yeah, it was a fun title. An interesting history of it, actually. I was glad I watched the last drive in. So Joe Bob Briggs gave context. [00:41:29] Speaker B: But long story short, there's a part. [00:41:31] Speaker A: Where a guy, like, sucks out a liquid eyeball out of a really old corpse. And, like, it's, like, so disgusting. [00:41:36] Speaker C: Ugh. [00:41:38] Speaker A: The eyeball's so old, it's, like, liquified. He, like, sucks it out like an oyster. [00:41:42] Speaker B: That almost made me throw up. [00:41:47] Speaker C: No more. [00:41:48] Speaker A: It was a really. It's a really gross movie. I wouldn't recommend it, but it was interesting to get the history because it was made in Germany in the eighties, and it was basically. Germany was known for horror films pre World War Two, and then Goebbels made them illegal. And they were illegal still during the Cold War and all the way up there. So, like, this punk scene came and, like, basically necromantic was like, an answer. Like, we're gonna make the grossest fucking movie possible because you won't let us make horror movies. And so. [00:42:20] Speaker B: I can respect that. But it almost made me throw up. [00:42:25] Speaker A: Yeah, well, you always more gross eyeball stuff. We're not even done with the gross eyeball. [00:42:30] Speaker C: You almost. You almost made me throw up. [00:42:32] Speaker A: So, yeah, I'll send you the clip. [00:42:35] Speaker C: It'll be good for hell. Hath no fury like a spawn scorned. [00:42:40] Speaker B: Johnny. [00:42:41] Speaker C: I don't know if that's an actual. [00:42:42] Speaker B: Quote from the Bible, but it's. [00:42:46] Speaker A: It's a quote. It's in quotes. [00:42:47] Speaker C: It's in quotes. [00:42:49] Speaker B: Oh, and then he. [00:42:50] Speaker A: It's probably from the spawn Bible. [00:42:51] Speaker C: Ah, probably. [00:42:52] Speaker B: I should probably look that up. He has that. [00:42:55] Speaker A: Oh, he snaps Terry's jaw back in. It's so, like, he looks so fucked up. [00:42:59] Speaker C: He's like, hold still. This is gonna hurt. And just. [00:43:02] Speaker B: Oh, man, the pain and the not. [00:43:07] Speaker C: Wanting it to happen in Terry's eyes in that panel before he gets his job put back in place. It's just. Oh, man, it hurt. It makes. [00:43:16] Speaker B: Oh, God. [00:43:18] Speaker C: Javi Fernandez is really good at expressing emotions that people shouldn't be able to express through art. [00:43:24] Speaker A: He snaps it back. [00:43:26] Speaker B: Oof. [00:43:26] Speaker A: And you get that little, like, in the foreground. You get, like, the eye stab just sitting there. [00:43:32] Speaker C: It's like a. It's like an olive with a toothpick in it. [00:43:35] Speaker B: And spawns. [00:43:36] Speaker A: They're walking away. There's a wanda in the clouds. [00:43:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:38] Speaker C: In the flames. And Spawn's like, hey, we were just in New York, and guess what we're doing? We're going back to New York. [00:43:44] Speaker A: Back and forth, back and forth. Luckily, he's got those spawn powers like. [00:43:47] Speaker C: A little ping pong ball. Jason Nguyen sends out a message saying, simmons is coming. [00:43:53] Speaker B: And then we're back at kins K's. [00:43:56] Speaker A: House from the previous few issues, where we have the big meeting down below. [00:44:00] Speaker C: We got some tactical boys going in SWaT style. And then following up behind them is. [00:44:07] Speaker B: Our buddy Jericho in a little gas mask. [00:44:12] Speaker A: Looking cool. [00:44:13] Speaker C: You're looking pretty. [00:44:14] Speaker A: Always sharp dressed. He's a sharp dressed zombie demon man. [00:44:18] Speaker C: Always, always. And we discover that what they're looking for is some remnants of Kincaid. And they find some of the bones. [00:44:26] Speaker B: I bet we'll get some. [00:44:27] Speaker A: Ooh. That even haven't come to fruition yet. I bet that'll be. [00:44:30] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:44:31] Speaker A: Dude, what if they have a Kincaid kaiju? [00:44:33] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:44:36] Speaker A: Could you bring back Kincaid is a giant kaiju? [00:44:38] Speaker C: Oh, man. Do you think they could do that. [00:44:40] Speaker B: Just, like, loosely make a. [00:44:43] Speaker C: Like, a kaiju movie based off of spawn? Just so that way you could have, like, 400 foot tall spawn versus 400 foot. I guess it would be like, 225 foot tall clown just going at it. [00:44:58] Speaker A: And he weighs 2000 pounds. When he's, like, 7ft tall, how much would he weigh? [00:45:02] Speaker C: So much. So much. He would, like, sink all the way up to his knees every time he took a step. [00:45:10] Speaker A: Kincaid looks. When he's naked, he's just like a giant baby. So it just looked like, honey, I blew up the kid like Kincaid. [00:45:18] Speaker C: So Jericho is talking on the phone to some other person in the hood. There's so many hooded people, Johnny. [00:45:24] Speaker B: So many people. [00:45:24] Speaker A: So many hooded people. [00:45:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:45:26] Speaker A: Might as well be called the court of hoods. [00:45:29] Speaker C: Court of hoods. [00:45:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:45:30] Speaker C: And we find out that the throne that they're trying to make for king spawn is made out of the remains or the bones of his enemies. And that's where that Kincaid boat is gonna go. [00:45:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:45:43] Speaker A: It would be much better if they were cloning him to be a kaiju. But I'll accept the God throne thing. [00:45:47] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, the God thrones. It's fine. I guess we got. [00:45:51] Speaker B: And then we get our first introduction. [00:45:54] Speaker C: To the court of priests. Behold the court of priests. [00:45:58] Speaker A: And we've got, you got clown in. [00:46:00] Speaker B: The background being huge. [00:46:03] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:46:03] Speaker A: You got ab and zab with those two guys smoking. [00:46:06] Speaker B: Yeah. You got comedian lady who. I don't. [00:46:11] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. What was her name? [00:46:13] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:46:14] Speaker B: Shit, I feel like we should know. [00:46:16] Speaker C: You got also fucking terrorizer. Is that his name? Trimmer. [00:46:20] Speaker B: Trimmer. You got trimmer there? [00:46:22] Speaker A: Godsends over to the right. [00:46:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:46:24] Speaker C: Hiding behind whoever this hooded person is. [00:46:28] Speaker B: I'm gonna assume that's Jason blood next. [00:46:32] Speaker C: To the smokin dude on the right. Like, you can just see his forehead over the shoulder of hoodie Mchood. [00:46:38] Speaker A: Face looks like. Looks like blood. [00:46:40] Speaker C: Looks like blood. [00:46:41] Speaker A: Um, his name's Jason also. [00:46:43] Speaker B: Yeah. Who's really? [00:46:45] Speaker C: Isn't his name Jason Blood? [00:46:47] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:46:48] Speaker A: Probably. [00:46:49] Speaker C: I thought it was. [00:46:50] Speaker B: Am I? [00:46:50] Speaker A: It can be. I just didn't know. [00:46:52] Speaker C: I mean, we literally just covered it, like, last week. [00:46:56] Speaker A: Why don't know if they called him Jason. [00:46:58] Speaker B: Well, blood, I don't. [00:47:00] Speaker C: Okay, we'll just go with blood for now. [00:47:03] Speaker A: Who's Jacob blood? [00:47:04] Speaker C: Jacob? Damn. [00:47:06] Speaker A: No, I'm kidding. It's not Jacob blood. I just made that up. [00:47:09] Speaker C: It's Johnny blood. [00:47:11] Speaker B: Johnny Blood. [00:47:11] Speaker A: Johnny Blood. Yeah. This is our introduction to the court of priests. It's all spawns old nemesi, nemesis. [00:47:21] Speaker C: I wonder what's in those scenes. [00:47:23] Speaker A: I wonder. [00:47:23] Speaker C: This in those plates, are they, is that like, is that like their meal? Are those, are they being all dramatic before? [00:47:30] Speaker B: Uh, yeah, it's like the feast in Indiana domes. [00:47:33] Speaker A: The temple of doom, just full of snakes. [00:47:35] Speaker C: A snake full of snakes. [00:47:36] Speaker A: And eyeballs. [00:47:37] Speaker C: Eyeball soup. [00:47:38] Speaker B: Speaking of eyeballs, sweet and eyeball soup. [00:47:41] Speaker A: Mmm. Yeah, they probably gotta put Jason's wind. [00:47:43] Speaker B: Eyeball in there and eat it. [00:47:46] Speaker C: That's canonically the eyeball that is in the soup that Billy tries to eat. [00:47:50] Speaker B: So there they are, everybody. [00:47:53] Speaker A: The quarter priest. This is our penultimate issue. Well, I guess this is the end of the first arc because it's the end of six. Yeah, the end of the first arc. [00:48:00] Speaker B: So I guess you'd call it kind. [00:48:02] Speaker A: Of king spawn origins because he goes back to his origins and fights Kincaid and Jason Wynn. And now we're moving into the court of priest phase. Yeah, I imagine the guy in the cloak's black asriel. [00:48:15] Speaker B: Probably. [00:48:18] Speaker C: We should, we should, we should know. But I've totally forgotten. [00:48:22] Speaker A: No, it totally is because he reveals. [00:48:24] Speaker B: Himself and then we get a very special spawning ground. [00:48:28] Speaker A: Yeah, we get a nice interview with the handsome Sean Lewis. What a handsome fellow. [00:48:33] Speaker B: Yes. [00:48:33] Speaker C: Yeah, he's much too handsome to be writing such nasty stuff. [00:48:39] Speaker B: But, yeah, it's. [00:48:40] Speaker A: Really fun to like him. Talk about. He's, like, just a big spawn fan. [00:48:43] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:45] Speaker A: Talks about how much he loves the hobby stuff, the splash pages. [00:48:49] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah. [00:48:50] Speaker C: Like, he's. He is. He is both a fan of spawn and of Javi, very much like us. So, Johnny, we're. [00:48:57] Speaker B: We're just. [00:48:57] Speaker C: We're just separated from Sean Lewis by talent, so we just gotta. We just gotta get there. Just gotta hone our writing chaps to the level of Sean Lewis. [00:49:08] Speaker A: And I love how he says he likes to be in the mind of Al and how Al's obsessed with the mission. Success is more important than people, and how he. And that's definitely Al. [00:49:16] Speaker C: That sounds like a terrible place to be. I'm not gonna lie. I don't wanna be in the mind of Al. [00:49:22] Speaker B: I know. Oh, man. [00:49:25] Speaker C: Why. [00:49:29] Speaker B: Wanda, you get that great splash. [00:49:34] Speaker A: Page from, I believe, last issue with all the billboard type. Like, it's Al Simmons life. [00:49:40] Speaker B: Yeah, it's excellent. [00:49:43] Speaker C: The hobby style splash example. Oh, it's a good one. [00:49:46] Speaker B: It's a good one. It's a great little interview. Kind of wish there was more of it. Yeah, yeah. [00:49:53] Speaker A: It's always fun to get a little interview and see a little bit behind the curtains. [00:49:57] Speaker C: Wets our whistle a little bit. [00:49:59] Speaker A: We got that tease for scorch number one with that awesome art. [00:50:02] Speaker C: Yeah, that's a great poster. [00:50:04] Speaker B: Shit, dude. Yeah. So good. [00:50:08] Speaker A: Nice. That's king spawn number six. [00:50:14] Speaker B: And how. Oh. [00:50:15] Speaker C: Oh, Johnny. More. More eye torture for this issue. On the back, the advertisement for King Spawn seven has a fucking raven pulling a. An eyeball out of a skull. [00:50:28] Speaker A: Oh, he does? Oh, man. [00:50:31] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:50:32] Speaker C: Man, Ravenspawn is so fucking cool. [00:50:34] Speaker B: Look at that guy chilling with the sky. [00:50:37] Speaker A: Yeah, man. What's all this eyeball stuff? [00:50:39] Speaker B: Oh, man. What is. [00:50:40] Speaker A: What is this, a Sam Raimi picture? [00:50:42] Speaker B: Could be. It could be a Sam Raimi picture. No, it could be and should be. [00:50:47] Speaker C: He's got to call him up and be like, hey, hey, Mister Raimi, we need you to head to direct the spawn movie. [00:50:53] Speaker A: I've been so pumped for Evil Dead Rise. [00:50:56] Speaker B: I like the. [00:50:57] Speaker C: I like the video that just came out from south by southwest, where they were doing a Q and a after the show, and somebody was like, this movie fucking sucks. So Bruce Campbell was like, you get out of here. [00:51:07] Speaker B: Leave. [00:51:08] Speaker C: Yeah, get the fuck out. [00:51:12] Speaker A: Some drunk guy. That's hilarious. [00:51:14] Speaker B: Who would do that? I don't know. [00:51:16] Speaker C: I mean, they do now have a story, but they're the villain in that story. So I don't know if it was worth it. [00:51:21] Speaker A: I say no. [00:51:23] Speaker B: Definitely wasn't worth it. No. [00:51:24] Speaker C: Just say no to being a jerk. [00:51:33] Speaker A: Next up, our second issue of the day. Gunslinger, spawn or gunslinger, whatever you the gunslinger. The spawn's back to this one. [00:51:44] Speaker C: Yeah, the spawn is on this one. [00:51:46] Speaker A: Gunslinger, spawn 16. [00:51:48] Speaker C: The spawn is back on the rose, as they say. [00:51:52] Speaker A: And, man, speaking of covers. [00:51:54] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah. [00:51:56] Speaker A: This is one of the series from. [00:51:57] Speaker B: January of 2023 by David Mack. [00:52:05] Speaker A: And it's these really cool kind of watercolor ones. Javi looks badass. He's got some crows sticking out of. [00:52:12] Speaker B: His, from behind him. [00:52:14] Speaker C: It's a great, it's a great little series of covers that they've been doing. But, yeah, it's, it says in like. [00:52:19] Speaker A: Scrawls as I am the shadow and comes. I am the shadow comes to life. [00:52:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:25] Speaker C: I like the spawn mask eye things. He's turned them into little bitty flames going in front of the hat. [00:52:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:36] Speaker A: And they're like, see through. Yeah. That is cool. [00:52:39] Speaker C: Yeah, it's real nice. [00:52:41] Speaker B: It's real good. [00:52:42] Speaker A: It's been fun. They've been doing these matching covers, having these artists spotlights. [00:52:46] Speaker C: And then I got myself cover number two, the keen. [00:52:51] Speaker A: You got a heavy looking pissed off. [00:52:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:54] Speaker C: Oh, he's so pissed off. He's got a dude chained up and he's dragging him behind him. [00:52:59] Speaker B: It's just through some bones. [00:53:02] Speaker C: Oh, man, it is some good western action right there. Oh, Johnny on this, his, there's a pouch on the back bottom of his coat. [00:53:15] Speaker A: Yeah, there's just a single pouch. [00:53:16] Speaker B: I love it. [00:53:18] Speaker C: That's great. That's great. [00:53:20] Speaker A: You gotta have a pouch. [00:53:21] Speaker C: Hell yeah. So on the inside, we got a, as you mentioned last time, unbroken writer for script plot, Todd McFarlane in this series. Same with Kingspawn, unbroken, Sean Lewis writing to date. [00:53:37] Speaker A: Yes. But this one is different than King spawn because it is unbroken on artists. [00:53:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:43] Speaker A: It's always been Brett Booth. [00:53:44] Speaker C: Oh, man, so much fun. Inkers, Adelso Corona. I have a nunez on colors, tomoe doing our lettering. [00:53:53] Speaker B: WHOOP, WHOOP. [00:53:54] Speaker C: Very nice. [00:53:55] Speaker A: And as we said, the two cover artists. So previously in Gunslinger, a new face gets in the way of Gunslinger's plans to finish crossing off his hit list. Gunslinger will have to decide whether his speedster is friend or foe. [00:54:12] Speaker C: What? Johnny, why is hit list not in quotation marks this time? It was. Last time it should be also to. [00:54:20] Speaker A: Finish crossing off his hit list. That's a hard thing to say. [00:54:22] Speaker C: There's so much sibilance just like smushed into one sentence there to finish crushing. [00:54:29] Speaker A: Off his hit list. I had a hard time with that one. I do like four takes. [00:54:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:54:34] Speaker C: Oh, man, we are back in media fight. [00:54:39] Speaker B: In media fight. [00:54:40] Speaker A: So if you remember, last time we. [00:54:42] Speaker B: Got introduced to this, this fellow, this. [00:54:46] Speaker C: Fellow, this, this speedy boy, if you. [00:54:49] Speaker A: Will, a speedster, if you would say, javi got through to McCarver, this boss got to the big boss. [00:54:57] Speaker B: Boss time. [00:54:59] Speaker A: They fought, their cane and gun turned into snakes and attacked each other. [00:55:03] Speaker C: Yeah, that was super cool. [00:55:05] Speaker A: That was super cool. And then focus. Oh, I swirled it. [00:55:08] Speaker B: Shit. This guy. [00:55:10] Speaker A: I didn't mean to do that. [00:55:11] Speaker B: This guy comes in and just like. [00:55:15] Speaker A: Boom, here, I'm here. [00:55:16] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:55:17] Speaker A: And that was kind of where it left off. [00:55:18] Speaker C: The speedy guy saying, did you hear me, cowboy? Back away from McCarver. He's mine. And Javi says, we got ourselves a problem because I ain't leaving here without McCarver. So they're both, they're both fighting over the same man. It's like a, it's like a rom.com from the eighties. One, one man, two suitors. [00:55:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:55:36] Speaker A: This issue is a lot of zipping back and forth, talking about bosses. [00:55:42] Speaker B: Yeah, sure does. [00:55:45] Speaker C: Boss man says, you're in over your head. Focus. And so we get. [00:55:48] Speaker A: There it is. [00:55:49] Speaker C: We get his name. There he is. [00:55:50] Speaker B: Yeah, you didn't spoil much. [00:55:52] Speaker A: Now I can say it. I'll beep it out. So then 2 seconds later, we have the reveal. [00:55:58] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:55:59] Speaker C: So Gunslinger now has the name for who he's up against. [00:56:03] Speaker A: Focus. [00:56:05] Speaker C: And then focus is literally just running back and forth. [00:56:08] Speaker A: You know, I like all the bosses, henchmen, and business guys are just like. [00:56:15] Speaker C: Oh, man, I love that there's always money flying around. [00:56:19] Speaker B: I love that. [00:56:19] Speaker C: Brett Booth loves making money. Just like rain. It's great. [00:56:25] Speaker B: Look at all that, David. [00:56:26] Speaker A: Everyone loves money. That's why it's called money. [00:56:31] Speaker C: That makes perfect sense. [00:56:33] Speaker A: It's a line from a David Mamet movie. [00:56:37] Speaker B: Oh, David Mamet. I don't remember which one, but it's. [00:56:41] Speaker A: Or it might be a David Mamet player. [00:56:42] Speaker B: Greatest. [00:56:42] Speaker C: Remember, it's a good living american playwright. [00:56:45] Speaker B: Everyone likes money. [00:56:45] Speaker A: That's why it's called money. [00:56:47] Speaker C: Most american living playwright. [00:56:49] Speaker B: Huh? Huh? Yeah. What? [00:56:53] Speaker C: I said, the greatest living american playwright. Or at least the most american living playwright. [00:56:59] Speaker A: There's a lot of american, I mean. [00:57:02] Speaker B: I don't know if he's the greatest. [00:57:03] Speaker A: American living playwright at all, but he has some pretty american stuff. He did write the line in Glengarry Glen Ross of my name. My name's fuck you. And that's pretty great. Like, that's, like, one of the best lines. My name. My name's fuck you. [00:57:21] Speaker C: Oh, Glenn Ross is a good one. [00:57:24] Speaker B: Oh, it is a good one. [00:57:25] Speaker A: I like american buffalo a lot. He's got some good plays, but, yeah. [00:57:30] Speaker B: You know, it came out of that. [00:57:32] Speaker A: Like, eighties Sam Shepard kind of like. [00:57:35] Speaker B: Angry, manly men, and, you know, they. [00:57:41] Speaker A: Have their place, but I think theater's got to move beyond that at this point, which is probably a good thing. [00:57:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:46] Speaker C: I mean, it was needed for the time, but it's not so much needed anymore. [00:57:51] Speaker A: It was emotional. [00:57:52] Speaker B: Men. [00:57:52] Speaker A: Men being emotional. I love David Mamet, and I love Sam Shepard. And tracy Letz kind of comes from that tradition, but he's still going. [00:57:59] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:58:00] Speaker C: So now Javi and focus are kind. [00:58:03] Speaker B: Of squaring off a little bit. [00:58:06] Speaker C: Focus is like, look, I don't want to hurt you. Javi's just like, good luck with that. [00:58:12] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:58:14] Speaker C: And then while focus and Javi are talking, McCarver starts pulling a gun out of his jacket. [00:58:20] Speaker A: This is hilarious. This is a little bit. I'll be right back. Just goes and clocks him. [00:58:30] Speaker C: Oh, man. And Javi was like, what happened? Who's gonna shoo us? [00:58:36] Speaker B: Shoot us? [00:58:36] Speaker C: I had to take him out, and. [00:58:38] Speaker A: Of course, Javi's like, oh, this demon. [00:58:40] Speaker B: See, Todd father got. [00:58:41] Speaker A: He's getting caught up on this demons versus humans thing. Yeah, because he kept talking about, like, in Batman v spawn. [00:58:48] Speaker B: He was like, you're human. You can't do this. It's his new focus. [00:58:53] Speaker A: It's his new focus, one might say. [00:58:55] Speaker C: Oh, hmm, interesting. Silver Carver's, you know, saying that he's sent for backup. [00:59:04] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:59:04] Speaker A: I love that when a villain's like, ha ha. I already. I already sent a message, sucka. [00:59:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:59:10] Speaker C: And Javi's like, good, good. Now I don't have to. Now I don't have to search for. [00:59:14] Speaker B: Myself, my shelf, myself. [00:59:17] Speaker A: You're turning to Sean Connery now. [00:59:19] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:59:20] Speaker C: You. You spoke it into existence. Focus is like, who's coming? And Javi says, his posse. [00:59:29] Speaker B: Then I'm out of here. [00:59:33] Speaker C: And so focus just, like, grabs onto McCarver and runs. And he runs. [00:59:38] Speaker B: And he runs 400 miles across four counties. [00:59:43] Speaker C: A dozen counties. [00:59:44] Speaker B: 400. [00:59:45] Speaker A: A dozen counties. [00:59:46] Speaker B: Poor. [00:59:46] Speaker A: I got my numbers mixed up. He goes over a dozen counties. [00:59:50] Speaker B: Can you imagine how much that would. [00:59:51] Speaker A: Hurt to go 400 miles and slam right into a rock? [00:59:54] Speaker C: Right into a rock. Well, I mean, you can see it's like. I mean, later on, we can see that it's just blood, but it looks like his face is just, like, being. [01:00:02] Speaker B: Slid off when he hits that rock. Oh, man. He just pow. [01:00:07] Speaker C: Right into it. [01:00:08] Speaker A: We come to find out that these twelve names are these enemies of Javi. We're also doing experiments on other people. [01:00:16] Speaker B: Because focus basically says that, hey, you. [01:00:20] Speaker A: Know who I am? You're experimenting on me. And I survived. And he's looking for his other friends like him. And then there's this whole confusing part about this signal stuff that I love. It's very chewy. And Todd McFarland, it's just like, he's got the signal. You got the signal? [01:00:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:37] Speaker C: I was thinking about it last night, and the Todd father just, like, very, very quickly, is just like, oh, yeah, he's fucking lying. This isn't right. Whereas somebody else, like, another writer, could have tried to milk the fact that Macarver was lying about this for an issue. Like, a whole issue. Making that, like, a turning pointer's like, yeah, no, no, no. It's not important. He's lying now. They're gonna fight. [01:01:04] Speaker B: And it just. [01:01:05] Speaker C: It's that momentum, that. [01:01:07] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:01:08] Speaker C: Oh, man, it's so exciting. [01:01:10] Speaker A: Well, it's, like, perfect for this issue because it's just, like, so much going on, because that's what focus is like. [01:01:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:01:18] Speaker C: And so focus is like, well, now I gotta run back and grab that. [01:01:21] Speaker B: Cowboy, because he'll be the signal that. [01:01:23] Speaker A: Brings all the people to us. [01:01:25] Speaker B: Yeah, I love. [01:01:26] Speaker A: He just goes, hey, tap, tap. [01:01:28] Speaker B: Doink. Doink taps him on the shoulder. Yeah. [01:01:30] Speaker C: Because Javi hears a noise, and he's. [01:01:32] Speaker B: Like, I'm gonna pull a gun on it. So the. [01:01:35] Speaker C: The doctor Seuss book, Javi hears a. Who would just be Javi shooting the. Shooting the flower that the who's live on, the instant he hears them. [01:01:47] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:01:47] Speaker A: This flower just explodes. [01:01:49] Speaker C: It would be. It would be a real short book. It would be like, three pages. It would just be Javi. [01:01:52] Speaker B: And then. Help, pal. [01:01:56] Speaker A: I think if Javi ran into any doctor Seuss character, he would immediately put one between their eyes. [01:02:01] Speaker C: He would be like, this demon, this. [01:02:04] Speaker A: Demon, this green demon. [01:02:05] Speaker B: Bam. [01:02:06] Speaker C: Javi's like, where's McCarver? And his focus is, like, far away. Like, you're gonna be. And so he just grabs Javi by the neck chain and starts running, drags him. I love. I love the shocked and, like, vulnerable shot of Javi here, where, like, he's got the wide eyes and, like, the brim of his hat is being pushed backward, and he's just like, ah. [01:02:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:33] Speaker A: He's just so, like. [01:02:36] Speaker C: It's a great, great moment of vulnerability. [01:02:40] Speaker B: And he's like, just the pain. [01:02:42] Speaker A: Like, you can see, like, the strain of him trying to open his eyes. In the next page, we're just like, ah. [01:02:48] Speaker C: It feels like his body's being torn apart. [01:02:50] Speaker B: And then it stops. [01:02:52] Speaker A: This is more pain than he's ever felt. [01:02:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Nice. [01:02:56] Speaker C: And so they stop and focus. Throws gunslinger at McCarver, basically. [01:03:02] Speaker B: And then goes, gasp. This is. [01:03:05] Speaker C: This is the. This isn't the first time we've gotten a spoken gasp, is it? [01:03:10] Speaker A: No, it's a little gasp. Who else gasped? A hot gasp. [01:03:15] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Honk. Gasps the new novel gunslinger. [01:03:19] Speaker C: Noticed that the dude seems tired, so he's like, hmm. Demons don't get tired. Did McCarver's lab make you too? And Javi's like, I have no idea what you're talking about. What's going on? [01:03:33] Speaker A: I'm not from a lab. [01:03:35] Speaker C: This dude killed my sister. You demons are weird. Focus is like, what? I'm a human. [01:03:42] Speaker A: That's when he's like, you're still human. [01:03:44] Speaker C: That's why you're so tired. [01:03:46] Speaker A: That that would be a good opening quote for me. [01:03:48] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah, I was thinking about that last. [01:03:51] Speaker C: Night, too, because, like, to be human. [01:03:53] Speaker B: Is to be tired, right? [01:03:54] Speaker A: To be human is to be tired. At least past the age of 30. [01:03:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:59] Speaker A: If you're, like, 25 and you think you're tired. [01:04:02] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [01:04:02] Speaker C: Just wait. I thought I was tired at 25. [01:04:05] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:04:05] Speaker C: I would. [01:04:06] Speaker A: I would never. [01:04:07] Speaker C: I would do some questionable things to be as tired as I was at 25 again. [01:04:12] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, definitely. [01:04:14] Speaker C: I don't want to be 25 again. Just as tired as I was at 25. [01:04:18] Speaker A: I feel like I needed more sleep, though. I need less sleep now. Maybe I just have to get less sleep because I have more to do. I think that maybe that's it. [01:04:25] Speaker B: I don't know. [01:04:25] Speaker C: Time is weird. [01:04:26] Speaker B: It doesn't make any sense anymore, especially. [01:04:29] Speaker A: When you're running around, like. Like, focus here, going back and forth. [01:04:33] Speaker C: And back and forth, and you got. [01:04:35] Speaker A: Javi back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. [01:04:37] Speaker C: Javi yelling at you for being a demon, and then when he finds out you're not a demon, being like, well, you need to get the fuck out of here. [01:04:43] Speaker B: What? You're not gonna. [01:04:45] Speaker C: He just called some goddamn angels. Well, you gonna. You're not gonna make it. [01:04:49] Speaker B: You gotta get out of here. [01:04:50] Speaker A: And he's like he's already exhausted. Gunslinger. You're both fucked. Then Javi silently walks over across, like, two panels and just slaps him. [01:05:00] Speaker B: Just. [01:05:01] Speaker C: Just, like, backhands him with a closed fist. Oh, it's so good. [01:05:09] Speaker B: Oh, and then just starts punching him. [01:05:11] Speaker C: And kicking him in the face and stabs him with a. Does he stab him with one of his. [01:05:19] Speaker B: It's like one of his spike. Wrist spikes. Yeah, and then focus, just like. [01:05:24] Speaker C: Like. That's enough. [01:05:25] Speaker B: Stab it. [01:05:26] Speaker C: I still need answers from him. [01:05:28] Speaker A: They finally come. [01:05:29] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [01:05:31] Speaker A: He said he was calling his minions. [01:05:32] Speaker B: And guess who's here. [01:05:33] Speaker C: Yeah, and Javi's like, well, dang it, you should have run when you had. [01:05:36] Speaker B: The chance, because it's angels. [01:05:39] Speaker A: Angel attack. And they've diversified since the nineties. It's not just hot ladies. There's hot men too. [01:05:44] Speaker C: Yeah, there's also. It's not just flowing red hair. There's a nice little Afro in the back. [01:05:50] Speaker B: I like Afro Angel. [01:05:51] Speaker C: Afro angel is good. [01:05:53] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:05:53] Speaker A: Avengers. [01:05:54] Speaker B: Cool. Yeah. [01:05:55] Speaker C: And so Javi and focus, while not exactly enemies to begin with, are now on the same team. [01:06:02] Speaker B: So it's a classic. Classic. Little bit of a fight to a. [01:06:06] Speaker C: Team up against the common enemy. [01:06:08] Speaker A: So I get it now. So McCarver told him that gunslinger is the beacon, so he'd bring gunslingers there so he could kick all their asses at once. [01:06:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I get it now. [01:06:16] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just. I'm just slow. There's just so much going on. [01:06:19] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, it's back. There's a lot going on here. It's easy to get lost. That's not a ding on the quality of any of it. [01:06:27] Speaker A: No, no, this is a great issue. It's just funny because I feel like we're just kind of, like, recapping what happens just because there's so much that happens. [01:06:33] Speaker C: This book is jam packed. Like, this book should literally be about half an inch thick. There's so much going on in here. [01:06:40] Speaker A: But it just moves, baby. [01:06:41] Speaker C: Yeah, it does. [01:06:42] Speaker B: And then we get Javi doing his. [01:06:44] Speaker A: So he throws. He does the classic move. [01:06:46] Speaker C: Throws the knife to the forehead, and it just clangs. [01:06:48] Speaker B: Shit. [01:06:48] Speaker C: They've covered their weak point. [01:06:51] Speaker A: Pretty smart. Pretty good call. Angels. [01:06:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:06:54] Speaker C: His kill shots to their foreheads won't be an option. He'll need to improvise. And here we get more of the continuing assaults on the eyeballs, where hobby. He knows his bullets won't kill them, but they can blind him. So he just shoots this. [01:07:12] Speaker A: Shoot him in the eyes, shoots this. [01:07:14] Speaker C: Angel'S eyes out because those are the only holes in the helmet. So it's like, okay. [01:07:20] Speaker A: And in any battle, we can get your enemy to shift their strategy. That's always an advantage. You know what's funny is I read this last night, and then I was playing Halo, and I thought of that. [01:07:30] Speaker B: Line because I was like, I need. [01:07:33] Speaker A: To shift the battle. [01:07:37] Speaker B: Oh, man. And then focus is trying to run. [01:07:40] Speaker C: Real fast at the angels. And, like, he's bowling. [01:07:44] Speaker A: He's basically bowling for angels. [01:07:46] Speaker C: Bowling for angels. He'll worry about recovering later. Our western hero blazes away on autopilot. [01:07:52] Speaker A: Johnny just shooting. [01:07:55] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:07:55] Speaker C: It's just pew, pew. And there's feathers and bullet casings everywhere. [01:08:00] Speaker B: And, oh, it's just mania. [01:08:02] Speaker A: It's mania. [01:08:04] Speaker B: It's pandemonium. Oh, I love. [01:08:06] Speaker C: I love this. Focus runs behind Javi, and he's just like, here, grab these knives. [01:08:11] Speaker A: This is great. It's a great setup for next issue. He whispers something to him. [01:08:16] Speaker C: Take these knives. Threaten that man. [01:08:20] Speaker A: Well, he says something else that we don't hear. Yeah. [01:08:22] Speaker B: Cause he whispers his battle plans, then. [01:08:25] Speaker A: Barks one last order. I wonder what he tells him. Maybe we'll find out. [01:08:29] Speaker C: We'll find out. [01:08:30] Speaker B: And then we get giant angel. [01:08:34] Speaker C: The words barely escape his mouth. And we get fucking the juggernaut angel just busting through like the Kool Aid, man. [01:08:43] Speaker A: I'm an angel, bitch. [01:08:46] Speaker C: It isn't a herd. It's a single being. [01:08:49] Speaker A: Remember when they put that in the movie? [01:08:51] Speaker C: Yeah, I do. [01:08:52] Speaker A: In X Men last stand, he says I'm the juggernaut. Juggernaut, bitch. To Elliot Page. [01:09:00] Speaker B: Yeah. Weird. [01:09:03] Speaker A: What a time to be alive. [01:09:05] Speaker C: What a time to be alive, man. It's a good thing that that is. [01:09:10] Speaker B: That director is, you know. Oh, yeah. [01:09:13] Speaker A: Brett Ratners, and hashtag kind of cancelled, but not canceled. [01:09:17] Speaker C: But wait, that was Brett Ratner, not Bryan Singer. [01:09:21] Speaker B: Oh, shit. No. [01:09:22] Speaker A: The third one was Brett Ratner. Oh, and Bryan Singer. Oh, no. [01:09:25] Speaker B: Oh, no. Oh, geez. [01:09:27] Speaker A: X Men. [01:09:28] Speaker B: Oh, man. A little ironic that the literal flagship. [01:09:35] Speaker C: Comic book title for outcasts and minorities, kids fucking. [01:09:41] Speaker A: And the third one was based off a very famous Joss Whedon arc from. [01:09:46] Speaker B: The comics triple threat. Oh, man. Wife. [01:09:54] Speaker C: Life is wacky. [01:09:55] Speaker B: Life is wacky. [01:09:56] Speaker C: Being human is being tired, and being living is being wacky. [01:10:00] Speaker B: Johnny. [01:10:01] Speaker A: It's a true that. Can't even enjoy the shitty X men movies from the two thousands anymore. Why would you want to? [01:10:08] Speaker B: Why would. [01:10:09] Speaker C: What a life. [01:10:10] Speaker B: What a life. [01:10:11] Speaker C: Well, cause you got that Patrick, you got that pea stew. [01:10:13] Speaker B: Peace stew. [01:10:13] Speaker A: No, I mean, I liked it at the time, but, like, yeah, they're a little. I mean, x two, I think, is probably holds up, but the third one was never that great. [01:10:21] Speaker B: And the first one just is like. [01:10:23] Speaker A: It'S a good movie, but it's just really slow now. It's just like, it's funny to watch. [01:10:27] Speaker B: Not slow. Just not a lot. [01:10:30] Speaker A: Not a lot happens for a superhero movie. There's, like, one punch thrown. [01:10:35] Speaker C: The. The tropes, like, the conventions of superhero movies, have definitely evolved past what they were in the early two thousands, so. [01:10:43] Speaker B: Right. [01:10:43] Speaker A: I mean, they had to have the combat of, like, what is that? What do you want? Yellow spandex or whatever, you know, they have to have, like, now we're way beyond that. They just look like the costumes. [01:10:53] Speaker C: Yeah, it's like, yeah, bring on the yellow spandex. [01:10:56] Speaker B: Oh, man. We want. [01:10:57] Speaker C: We want tight, form fitting clothes, like Javi's pants in this next panel. [01:11:02] Speaker B: Look at that. [01:11:03] Speaker C: Look, he's got the. He's smuggling those hams again. He borrowed those hams from Terry. [01:11:07] Speaker B: It looks like. [01:11:09] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, look at that bun. [01:11:10] Speaker C: Look at this bun, man. [01:11:12] Speaker A: I mean, he's got to have some heavy, heavy thighs to carry all those pouches on the thighs. [01:11:16] Speaker C: Yeah, he definitely does. [01:11:18] Speaker B: Definitely does. [01:11:19] Speaker C: The juggernaut, angels just, like, slamming him against the ground, hitting him in the head with an axe. [01:11:26] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:11:27] Speaker A: It's surrounded by angels. [01:11:28] Speaker B: It's a fight Javi knows he can't win, and the angels know that too, Johnny. [01:11:33] Speaker C: But they're quickly scattered like tenpins. Focus is back to Bolin. [01:11:37] Speaker A: He's back to bowling for angels, man. [01:11:38] Speaker C: He's like. He's like, we only played one frame, motherfuckers. Time to bowl again. [01:11:44] Speaker B: Stereke and then classic western. [01:11:49] Speaker A: I'm surprised we haven't seen Javi use dynamite before. [01:11:53] Speaker C: I do like that. Javi gets focused to just snap his fingers to light the. Instead of using his necroplasm to light the. [01:12:01] Speaker A: He just holds it out, and he's. [01:12:02] Speaker C: Like, I know what to do, man. The buddy cop of Javi. And focus just. It comes together so quickly, and I want to see them do so much more together. [01:12:16] Speaker B: They're ready, and so, yeah, Javi's just. [01:12:19] Speaker C: Like, here, have this dynamet. [01:12:21] Speaker B: And he throws it at Afro angel, and then kaboom. [01:12:26] Speaker C: Kablamy. [01:12:27] Speaker B: I like that. [01:12:29] Speaker C: It's like a classic early, early spawn frame on this last panel. Like, it's askew, and it's got those. It looks like you just took a marker and went hakata kata ba da da on the edges. You know what I'm talking about? [01:12:45] Speaker A: Yeah, it's cool. [01:12:46] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. [01:12:48] Speaker C: Oh, man. It's like the explosion was so big, it rocked the comic book. [01:12:53] Speaker B: Right? [01:12:54] Speaker A: Like, rocked the panel off. Yeah, exactly. [01:12:56] Speaker C: That's awesome. [01:12:58] Speaker B: So good. [01:12:58] Speaker A: And then I do like that. [01:13:00] Speaker B: I like that the dynamite. [01:13:01] Speaker C: Does the sticks of dynamite do, say, tnt on them? [01:13:05] Speaker A: Gotta have it. [01:13:06] Speaker C: It's great. [01:13:08] Speaker A: There's a really good Sergio Leone movie called either Duck, you sucker, or fistful of dynamite, depending on which version you watch. And there's a lot of throwing dynamite in it. It's really great. Every time they throw the dynamite, he says, duck, you sucker. [01:13:24] Speaker B: Interesting. [01:13:25] Speaker A: Then we get the best part of the issue, the final review. It takes 16 issues to get here, David. [01:13:30] Speaker B: Yeah, 16 issues. [01:13:32] Speaker A: We haven't. We've gone. [01:13:34] Speaker C: This is amazing restraint from the Todd father. [01:13:37] Speaker A: Well, we're thinking maybe there aren't going to be pundits and gunslinger spawn. Maybe they're just not in there. You know, maybe that's just a regular spawn thing or king spawn thing. And then we get them, the three pundits. [01:13:49] Speaker B: It's real good. It's real good. [01:13:51] Speaker C: They're talking about the. The explosion that happened out in the Dakotas, right? And an earthquake, and then maybe an explosion. And they're like, maybe it's fracking. Maybe it's fracking. And then old Brock the shock. [01:14:02] Speaker B: Old Brock the shock can't deal with it. He can't deal with it. Oh, man. [01:14:06] Speaker C: The planet won't last another ten minutes if you believe all the biased, self serving scientists. [01:14:11] Speaker B: Hell, Johnny. Oh, my God. [01:14:12] Speaker A: Then we get the part. Here we go. Yeah, we just read it. [01:14:15] Speaker C: Okay. [01:14:15] Speaker B: All right. Some. [01:14:16] Speaker C: Some classic Todd father business. [01:14:18] Speaker B: Hell, according to them. [01:14:19] Speaker C: According to them, every time I fart, I'm ruining the arson lair. Guess I'll have to stop eating so much chili. [01:14:26] Speaker A: I love how, like, this is like, three issues in a row. They end with a poop joke or like, they're coming up, there's another poop at the end. [01:14:33] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:14:34] Speaker B: Okay. [01:14:34] Speaker A: Not three issues a row. There's just, you know, you gotta end with a toilet humor a little bit sometimes. I love it, man. [01:14:39] Speaker B: It's just classic. [01:14:42] Speaker C: It's classic. Classic. Fucking classic. [01:14:45] Speaker B: So good. Hilarious. [01:14:48] Speaker A: Stop eating so much chili. Also, just. I'll note, because today is St. Patrick's Day. The day we're recording is the actual St. Patrick's Day. Brock the shocks, very nicely dressed for St. Patrick's Day there. This green blazer, he's all. [01:15:00] Speaker C: He's all in on it. [01:15:01] Speaker B: He's all in on it. He's probably got a little flat cap. [01:15:04] Speaker C: That he's gonna put on after he records too. [01:15:07] Speaker B: He seems like someone that would really. [01:15:08] Speaker A: Like St. Patrick's Day. [01:15:09] Speaker B: Yeah, man, it just, uh. I can't. [01:15:13] Speaker C: I have. I can't remember the last time I. [01:15:16] Speaker B: Remember a chilly and farting joke because I tended to tune them out because it's. [01:15:25] Speaker C: It's low. It's low hanging fruit. And, you know, you gotta. You gotta avoid the low hanging fruit a lot of times, but it just hits so hard here because, of course, that's what the dude would say. [01:15:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it's just. Yeah, it's just. [01:15:36] Speaker A: And it's like, so random. It's just that aside, it's just so. [01:15:40] Speaker C: Funny, which is why he keeps getting fired from all the other networks and has to have his own patriot tv. [01:15:46] Speaker A: He's probably off of YouTube. I imagine he's probably been deplatformed at this point. [01:15:50] Speaker B: And this is also. [01:15:51] Speaker C: This is also the opening where we. [01:15:53] Speaker B: Get the opening reading from. [01:15:54] Speaker A: So, of course, you know, it'd been about a month since I'd done a third pundit. I figured we were due. [01:16:01] Speaker B: Yeah, we were. [01:16:02] Speaker C: We had a. An embarrassment of third pundit riches there for a little bit that we had to choose something else. So that way. [01:16:07] Speaker A: Yeah, we gotta put the brakes on. [01:16:09] Speaker B: That third pundit didn't get stuck in a rut. [01:16:12] Speaker A: You gotta keep the people on their toes. And so he's. Speaking of being on your toes. Javi is on his toes. He's got 1473. [01:16:19] Speaker B: Is the power meter nice and low? But it's. [01:16:22] Speaker A: But it's climbing. [01:16:24] Speaker C: How much longer will it climb? Stick around, maybe. We'll see. [01:16:29] Speaker A: And then we get their spawning grounds with some fun letters. [01:16:32] Speaker C: Mister James C. Asking some the hard hitting questions about Javi. [01:16:37] Speaker B: He wants to know, is it a. [01:16:39] Speaker C: Retcon of the original gunslinger? [01:16:42] Speaker B: Is it something that we didn't? [01:16:46] Speaker C: Are we being lied to about what his. What Javi is? Or did man just miss something? And Thomas says, no, not in Retcon. No, not a different hellspawn. No, you haven't missed anything. [01:16:58] Speaker B: So, hey, everyone, you don't know the whole story yet. [01:17:03] Speaker C: Yeah, we're all as confused as each other, and that's the way the toddfather intended. [01:17:07] Speaker B: And, oh, man, it's fun not knowing. [01:17:11] Speaker C: That backstory in full yet, because we know that. We know that that arc is coming. [01:17:15] Speaker B: And, you know, he's. [01:17:16] Speaker C: He's dribbling it to us in bits and pieces. And it's. [01:17:19] Speaker A: Yeah, because we know that Javi's not javi. [01:17:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:17:23] Speaker A: It's another host body. So this is probably that. [01:17:26] Speaker B: That. [01:17:28] Speaker A: Remember that one description of the gunslinger we found that was completely different? [01:17:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it was on the. [01:17:33] Speaker C: The website for the action figure. [01:17:35] Speaker A: It's got to be this. [01:17:37] Speaker B: Yeah, must be. [01:17:39] Speaker A: So, yeah, we'll be finding out because that's kind of what's going on. They were getting into it, and then we have this little focus diversion, but we'll probably get back into it shortly in gunslinger, I imagine. [01:17:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:17:50] Speaker A: I mean, you gotta tease it out, you know? [01:17:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:17:53] Speaker C: So, Johnny, we talked earlier about changing names, and you didn't tell me you. [01:17:57] Speaker B: Changed your name to Jason and wrote. [01:18:00] Speaker C: In a letter to the spawning grounds. [01:18:02] Speaker B: Because Jason here is talking about doing. [01:18:06] Speaker C: Exactly what you do, buying a whole bunch of extra spawn comics every week. [01:18:10] Speaker B: And then being like, hey, you should read this. [01:18:12] Speaker C: Hey, you should read this. I wouldn't be surprised if Jason had been leaving those issues on the bus so that way people could find them. [01:18:18] Speaker A: Jason, you're a man after my own heart. I've been giving people spawn, like, no. [01:18:22] Speaker B: Tomorrow, just shoving it down people's throats. [01:18:26] Speaker A: So I appreciate you doing the same. [01:18:29] Speaker B: That's awesome. [01:18:30] Speaker A: And you out there listening. Why don't you, this week, try to find someone to share spawn with? You know, if you're listening, maybe there's a friend who's been on the edge. [01:18:39] Speaker B: Give them. [01:18:39] Speaker A: Give them a little trade paperback action. See what they see, what they think. [01:18:43] Speaker B: We. [01:18:43] Speaker C: We always like to say that. I mean, King Spawn's the best place to start because, you know, it's what got Johnny into it. [01:18:49] Speaker B: But, I mean, if you. [01:18:51] Speaker A: If you got our friend Logan started with Gunslinger, I was about to say. [01:18:54] Speaker C: If you got a goofy friend, throw some kinks or some gunslinger at him. [01:18:56] Speaker B: Because, oh, man, it's. [01:19:00] Speaker C: It fits all the. [01:19:02] Speaker B: That. [01:19:02] Speaker C: That goofiness that you want. It's the bombast. It's the. [01:19:06] Speaker B: The violence. [01:19:07] Speaker C: It's the humor. It's the feast for the eyes. [01:19:10] Speaker B: It's. It's a good one. It's a good one. [01:19:14] Speaker A: Then we get Erik from the samurai commerce shops in Phoenix. He's got an awesome spawn shirt. They're showing off the spawn covers. I'm really jealous of that shirt. [01:19:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Wish I had a spawn shirt. [01:19:26] Speaker A: I found one that was, like, $75 on that one website. [01:19:29] Speaker C: Oh, geez, that's too much. $75. Cause, you know, it's probably, like, not even licensed, so it's just right. [01:19:38] Speaker A: It was like one of those, like, street wear clothing brands. But I saw an ad for it on Instagram. Was like, a spawn shirt. [01:19:43] Speaker B: But, yeah, it's probably not even licensed. Yeah. Sad, sad. Yeah. [01:19:50] Speaker A: But what's not sad is how I feel after reading a fun issue of Gunslinger spawn. [01:19:54] Speaker C: Oh, man, it was so good. It was so good. [01:19:57] Speaker B: Oh, man. I guess we gotta. [01:19:59] Speaker C: I guess we gotta rate these puppies now, don't we? [01:20:01] Speaker A: It's time to rate these puppies. Baby puppies machine was not an invitation for you to sing. [01:20:12] Speaker C: Well, you gotta clarify that up front because I'm always gonna take somebody else singing as an invitation. [01:20:18] Speaker B: You're like a dog hearing. [01:20:20] Speaker A: You're like a dog hearing a siren. [01:20:22] Speaker C: I have to. I've got sympathetic howls. [01:20:26] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:20:27] Speaker C: Oh, man. [01:20:28] Speaker B: So first up, gunslinger numbers are shit. [01:20:32] Speaker A: Kingswan. [01:20:33] Speaker C: Did you say Kingslinger? [01:20:35] Speaker A: Kingslinger. Kingslinger. Swan. Gunslinger spawn number six. [01:20:42] Speaker C: Do you mean Kingspawn number six? [01:20:44] Speaker A: Oh, my God, I just did it again. Help me, David. See, this is where I start to fall apart. It's been a week. We got to record, but madness is setting in. [01:20:55] Speaker C: Numbers. Numbers, numbers. Kingspawn number six. Kingspot number six. [01:21:01] Speaker A: We've got the big showdown with Jason win. The arc, kind of the end of this origin of spawn revisiting arc. [01:21:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:21:08] Speaker C: Not only origin of spawn revisiting, but origin of Jason win is disruptor. [01:21:12] Speaker B: Yes. [01:21:13] Speaker C: Origin of. [01:21:14] Speaker A: Back in Boston. [01:21:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:21:16] Speaker A: We get some eyeball action. The inner intro to the court of priests, like you said. [01:21:21] Speaker C: Yeah, we get dislocated jaw action too. [01:21:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:21:26] Speaker A: So I'm gonna give this issue five impaled eyeballs getting torn out of Jason Wynn's face. [01:21:34] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah, that's a. Yeah, that's a good one. [01:21:39] Speaker C: I'm gonna give it five gigantic spawn hands. [01:21:45] Speaker A: It's just like clapping. The hands are clapping. [01:21:49] Speaker C: Five of them clapping. So you've got two sets of two clapping to each other and the other, the fifth one is so big, it can actually clap against itself and clap. [01:21:59] Speaker A: On its own just by closing and opening. [01:22:01] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:22:02] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:22:03] Speaker A: Big hands are scary. In the video game elden ring, there's some big hands that are enemies, and they're terrifying. They walk like spiders. [01:22:10] Speaker B: Oh, man, that is frightening. [01:22:12] Speaker C: Elden ring sounds like it's got a lot of spooky stuff in it. [01:22:15] Speaker A: Oh, it's got a lot of spooky enemies. There's like an iron maiden lady. Everything's creepy. Everything's creepy. And wants to kill you and is very good at killing you. [01:22:22] Speaker B: Oh, nice. [01:22:23] Speaker C: Well, I mean, that's the way a. [01:22:23] Speaker B: Video game should be. [01:22:25] Speaker A: Second, we have gunslinger spawn 16. What would you give this one, David? [01:22:31] Speaker B: I'm gonna give it five. [01:22:32] Speaker C: Back and forths we got. [01:22:35] Speaker A: Back and forth and back and forth. [01:22:37] Speaker B: And back and forth, back and forth. [01:22:38] Speaker C: And back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. [01:22:41] Speaker A: It's so speedy. It's so exciting. [01:22:43] Speaker B: And, like, such a good momentum to it. [01:22:47] Speaker C: It's like a. If Kingspawn six were Mario Gunslinger 16 is sonic the hedgehog. [01:22:55] Speaker A: Right. [01:22:56] Speaker C: Just like, infinitely faster. [01:22:58] Speaker B: Bing, bing, bing, bing. [01:22:59] Speaker A: Bouncing off the stuff. Yeah, exactly. [01:23:01] Speaker C: There's an equivalent loss of rings in the. The money flowing or flagging around. [01:23:06] Speaker B: So, yeah, I'm gonna give it four ozone. [01:23:13] Speaker A: Ozone killing chili farts. [01:23:16] Speaker C: Please. Please don't. [01:23:17] Speaker B: Please don't. [01:23:18] Speaker C: Johnny, you gotta. You gotta at least get out of the closet before you start that. Yeah, yeah, I won't. [01:23:22] Speaker A: But this is my rating. That's what I'm gonna give it. [01:23:24] Speaker B: Go. [01:23:25] Speaker C: Go record those, like, outside so. [01:23:29] Speaker A: Or for TNT explosions. There we go. That's much easier to do in a closet. Set off four tnts. [01:23:34] Speaker C: That's better for the. [01:23:37] Speaker A: Better for the ozone. That's for sure. Than a chili fart. [01:23:41] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:23:41] Speaker C: You better hope that Wanda's not sleeping. And you set off four tnts in that closet. She's gonna be piiiiiiiii tele. Like, what are you doing in here? [01:23:50] Speaker A: The neighbor that thinks I'm, like, stalking them. Cause I'm recording in my closet. Thinks I'm, like, doing, like, evil things up here. They're gonna. They're gonna really like that. [01:24:00] Speaker C: Oh, man. [01:24:01] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:24:02] Speaker C: Will anybody really notice with all the construction that you got going on that intersection, though? [01:24:07] Speaker B: Probably not. Probably not. [01:24:12] Speaker A: It's back and forth. I think they're starting up again. [01:24:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:24:16] Speaker A: Like stops and starts and stops and starts. Much like it's back and forth and back and forth, back and back and. [01:24:21] Speaker C: Forth and starts and stops. [01:24:24] Speaker A: That's two great issues from Spawn's universe and David. I think we've got a new segment we're debuting today. [01:24:33] Speaker C: We do got a new segment. We got a. We're finally doing the Spoticea baseball drafts, y'all. [01:24:39] Speaker B: That's right. [01:24:39] Speaker A: Sponacy baseball. Spawnsee baseball. I'm gonna let Dan take this one. [01:25:15] Speaker B: It's his brainchild. [01:25:18] Speaker A: And he's the more baseball expert than I am. [01:25:21] Speaker C: I'm not a very big baseball baseball expert, but, you know, I nerd out about it a little more than Johnny does. Or at least have done for longer. [01:25:30] Speaker A: I'm trying to. I'm getting into it. So it's been a couple years. I've been following the White Sox now. [01:25:34] Speaker C: Yeah, you just. It's, it's just one of those things that after a couple of years you're like, oh, okay, now this makes sense. She's got to hit a critical mass of knowledge. [01:25:42] Speaker B: It's baseball's for everyone, though. [01:25:44] Speaker A: Coming up, it's spring training. Opening day's coming. Todd father loves baseball. [01:25:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:25:50] Speaker A: Taylor and gunslinger love baseball. [01:25:53] Speaker B: Yeah, they do. [01:25:54] Speaker C: With that stick ball that Javi probably played, but yeah. So as I said before, we're gonna draft a couple of teams here. So we're gonna draft teams for earth people, for hell people, for heaven people, and very possibly for the green. [01:26:15] Speaker A: The green. [01:26:15] Speaker B: I think we should do it. I think we should do that. Yeah. [01:26:18] Speaker C: So we'll have four teams and then, you know, we'll have fun. [01:26:21] Speaker B: Little fun, little. [01:26:25] Speaker C: Goof arounds for the games. We'll try to do a little bit of color commentary or like a recap of what the games would have been. [01:26:34] Speaker B: Should be fun. [01:26:35] Speaker C: It'll give us a chance to play with our action figures a little, right? [01:26:38] Speaker B: Absolutely. Yeah. [01:26:40] Speaker C: So today's, today's what's assignment is we're drafting our earthbound baseball team. So Johnny and I have a list. [01:26:52] Speaker B: Of players and we're going to, one. [01:26:57] Speaker C: By one, starting from pitcher and going all the way down to designated hitter because yes, we are doing the DH because that is now the rule of MLB everywhere. So we're going to have ten players. [01:27:10] Speaker B: And we're gonna assign them positions and. [01:27:13] Speaker C: It'Ll be really fun. [01:27:16] Speaker B: And as most sports things do, we're. [01:27:19] Speaker C: Gonna flip a coin to see who goes first. And I'm gonna let Johnny say heads or tails. [01:27:26] Speaker A: I will say tails for a demon tail. [01:27:32] Speaker B: All right, I'm gonna flip the coin here on the Google. [01:27:38] Speaker C: It is heads. So I guess that means I get to go first. [01:27:42] Speaker B: All right, nice, nice, nice. [01:27:44] Speaker C: All right, so real quick we'll go over the. So we're going to have the positions. The first position is going to be. [01:27:51] Speaker B: Pitcher, second position is going to be catcher. [01:27:55] Speaker C: Third position is first base. Fourth position is second base. [01:27:59] Speaker B: Fifth position is third base. [01:28:01] Speaker C: 6Th is a short stop. Seven, eight, nine, left center right field. And then ten is the designated hitter. So that means I get to choose the pitcher that I have chosen. And I. It will probably be no surprise who I have chosen. [01:28:19] Speaker A: I think I can guess. [01:28:21] Speaker C: So I am choosing Samburk as the pitcher. [01:28:26] Speaker B: What Sam Burke. [01:28:28] Speaker C: Yes. So with the designated hitter, pitchers don't have to worry about running the bases. And also, have you ever seen Bartolo Colon? He's a big man and he a. [01:28:39] Speaker A: Pitcher, but twitch is the one that has the accurate. He's like the shooter. [01:28:43] Speaker C: Yeah, but twitch is more athletic than Sam. I'm going by the fact that you could literally be eating a hoagie and pitch at the same time, and that's 100% Sam. [01:28:56] Speaker A: All right, I got you. [01:28:57] Speaker B: All right, so Sam is the pitcher. [01:29:01] Speaker A: My position, first up, is catcher, correct? [01:29:04] Speaker C: Yes. Yes, it is. [01:29:05] Speaker A: So I wanted to pick someone that catches you both literally and figuratively. When you fall, is always there for. [01:29:15] Speaker B: You, has the right build for a catcher. So I'm gonna pick Granny. Oh, man. [01:29:22] Speaker A: Granny Blake. [01:29:25] Speaker C: I had already had Granny Blake. It was another position. [01:29:28] Speaker A: I'm sorry. Granny Blake. [01:29:31] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [01:29:32] Speaker A: That's where to catch you when you fall, especially spawn. And so you got Sam pitching to Granny Blake. That's going to be a great dynamic duo, I think, really rocking the field. [01:29:43] Speaker C: Yeah, it'll be a good one. It also avoids the. So we have to make the joke that Granny Blake would have been a good referee because she's blind. Hurt her. [01:29:54] Speaker A: Oh, true. The ref is. Yeah. [01:29:56] Speaker C: No, she's, she's a great catcher. She knows. She knows what's going on. She. She can see people for what they really are, so she knows what to. [01:30:03] Speaker A: Exactly. She knows what's going down, and she can see, she has good foresight, so. [01:30:09] Speaker C: All right, so for, for first base, I had Taylor. [01:30:14] Speaker B: Yes. Because Taylor. [01:30:16] Speaker C: Taylor seems like it'd be a good first baseman. [01:30:19] Speaker A: What qualities do you say you look for in a first baseman? [01:30:22] Speaker C: More often than not, the first baseman's not gonna have to really. They're not gonna have to, like, go for fouls very often because the fouls aren't gonna often go that way. So he doesn't need to have to worry about that. But he's wiry, and I think he's quick. [01:30:40] Speaker B: So he'd be real good at being able to get, get a pass. [01:30:46] Speaker C: A pass to get the ball passed to him and, you know, make sure he's on the base to get that runner out. [01:30:52] Speaker B: So he's, he's quick on it. [01:30:55] Speaker C: So it's one, it's a, it's a tricky base, but it's not the trickiest base. So I think that's right in Taylor's weir house, because Taylor is good at what he does, but I think he's, he's mission missing a little bit of. [01:31:07] Speaker B: The get up and go that a. [01:31:09] Speaker C: Couple of the other positions would take. [01:31:11] Speaker A: Okay, I like that. [01:31:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:31:14] Speaker A: So next up is second base. And from what I looking up, a. [01:31:18] Speaker B: Second baseman needs to be quick, have. [01:31:21] Speaker A: Good hand eye coordination, and be a great communicator. I think the person that best fits. [01:31:27] Speaker B: That is Twitch Williams. Hey. [01:31:31] Speaker C: Hey, Johnny. [01:31:32] Speaker B: What? [01:31:33] Speaker C: Guess who I had for second base. [01:31:35] Speaker A: Twitch Williams. [01:31:36] Speaker C: Twitch Williams. [01:31:37] Speaker A: Mine was an adapter because I wanted to get Twitch in there. I originally had him as pitcher, but then I realized that he'd be a great second baseman with those attributes. And because he is a great communicator, he's always straight to the point. [01:31:50] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [01:31:51] Speaker A: You know, he's quick and he has great hand eye coordination. We know he does. He can just take that one shot and boom. So he needs to get that ball back to. Back to home plate real quick. You know, we know that Twitch has got that cannon arm, so he'd be perfect. [01:32:05] Speaker B: Yeah, he'd be able to fire it. [01:32:09] Speaker C: You know, anywhere he needs to go. That arm would probably be good out. [01:32:13] Speaker B: In the, like, in the left field there, too, but. [01:32:18] Speaker C: But I think he would mostly be wasted. So next up is third base. Third base. You don't really have to do very much often. So it's a lot of times it's the. The position that, like, pinch hitters will get. Will get sent to because they often don't have to worry about, you know, catching to tag people out at the base. There's not really a lot of action that close on the third base line. So you can be a little. You can be a little less athletic at third base. [01:32:54] Speaker A: Yes. [01:32:55] Speaker C: I put Bobby. [01:32:57] Speaker A: Oh, Bobby. But poor Bobby's drunk. [01:33:02] Speaker B: Yeah, so. [01:33:03] Speaker C: But he's a. But Bobby's also got that, like, if he just stands on third base and, like, you know, twitch rockets. Rockets a ball right at him, as long as Bobby's just standing there, he'll be able to keep anybody from. From round in third. [01:33:17] Speaker B: So you just gotta. Basically. [01:33:20] Speaker C: Just gotta have a body over at third. [01:33:22] Speaker B: Dude. [01:33:22] Speaker A: I got really sad when I was looking up, because I was looking up on Wikipedia. Just a list of humans, like, after I came up with mine and seeing if I missed anybody. Um, listen to the very end of Bobby's Wikipedia entry here. [01:33:35] Speaker B: Aww. [01:33:36] Speaker A: Saddened by his best friend Bootsy's death, he falls deeper into alcoholism, going as far as stealing a dead homeless person's bottle and causing him to be suspected of murder. He does not appear and is never mentioned. After spawn made everyone, including cog, leave the alleys. [01:33:51] Speaker B: Aw, man. [01:33:54] Speaker A: Being accused of that murder is like the last thing that happens to Bobby. [01:33:57] Speaker B: Oh, man, that's sad. Sorry, Bob. [01:34:02] Speaker C: We need Sean Lewis to do a deep dive into the. And bring the alley residents back. [01:34:09] Speaker B: That's what we need. That is what we need. [01:34:12] Speaker A: So my next position is shortstop. [01:34:15] Speaker B: Yes, it is. [01:34:15] Speaker A: Which is a defensive position. You want good range, good throwing ability. But it's primarily kind of the most valuable defensive position in the infield, if not the entire field. [01:34:29] Speaker B: Yes. [01:34:30] Speaker A: So I'm going to go with my. Someone, I think that's always on the defense is God. [01:34:36] Speaker B: Al's back kind of playing steps ahead. [01:34:39] Speaker A: And, you know, getting ahead of things. That would be Mark Rosen. Mark. [01:34:43] Speaker C: Nice. [01:34:44] Speaker B: So do Mark Rosen as shortstop, because. [01:34:49] Speaker A: Mark is Spawn's last line of defense. He's always there. I was going between Mark and Terry, but I feel like Mark is more defensive because he can, like, get the info and is more like. Yeah, it seems like a better fit plus, like, compared to Spawn. He's short, so short stuff. [01:35:06] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:35:06] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:35:07] Speaker C: He's a short guy. [01:35:09] Speaker A: Hey, that's a short king myself. [01:35:12] Speaker C: That's going to be real interesting when, if medieval gets drafted for the hell team. [01:35:18] Speaker B: I know. [01:35:19] Speaker A: He's going to have to be a split. [01:35:20] Speaker B: He's got to be split. Oh, man. That's going to be. It's going to be real interesting. [01:35:23] Speaker C: That's a good choice. That's a good choice. All right, so left field, this is which one is left? Is left from the player's perspective or from the. Oh, yeah. So left field is over there, back behind shortstop. [01:35:37] Speaker B: So you need, you need somebody who's. [01:35:39] Speaker C: Real athletic to get back there and. [01:35:41] Speaker B: Has a good arm, right? Yep. [01:35:44] Speaker C: So I got for, for left field. You know, you were talking about needing him. He's good there. He's gonna catch you fucking. I have Terry for left field. [01:35:56] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [01:35:57] Speaker C: Terry Fitzgerald, who'll be playing the king Griffey junior spot. Just snagging, snagging homers from the OR. [01:36:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:36:08] Speaker C: Snagging people's homers from the victory. [01:36:11] Speaker B: That's perfect. Yeah. Yeah. [01:36:14] Speaker A: I think Terry's a great call for that. [01:36:17] Speaker B: So I have next up, center field. [01:36:24] Speaker A: And this actually ties into issue today. Oh, so center field, you want, you got to cover large distances because you're in the center of the field. So speed's important. Instinct, quickness. I'm gonna go with our new favorite speedster, focus from the earth, because he's. [01:36:44] Speaker B: A human, as we know. [01:36:45] Speaker A: He's human. [01:36:46] Speaker B: Oh, hell yeah. [01:36:48] Speaker C: Oh, hell, yeah. [01:36:50] Speaker A: Did you not think of focus as a human? [01:36:52] Speaker C: Um, I think I set my team before the focus issue came out. [01:36:56] Speaker A: Okay. [01:36:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:36:56] Speaker A: I've been putting a long time. But, yeah, focus, I think, would be a good center fielder. Cause he can zip around and get that ball and. Yeah. [01:37:04] Speaker C: Oh, man. Yeah, that's. Oh, shit. He'd be. He'd be real good for that. That cleanup position down there. [01:37:10] Speaker B: The batting order too. That's true. Nice. All right. [01:37:14] Speaker C: I got right field. [01:37:16] Speaker B: Right field. [01:37:17] Speaker C: You took my right field. Or I had Granny Blake on the right field because I wanted to make an angels in the outfield joke. Granny Blake is essentially an angel, even though she's still a human. So now I gotta. So I think I'm going to move my. [01:37:34] Speaker B: My. [01:37:36] Speaker C: My center field choice just over to right field, because, you know, they. They also might need a bit of a cannon. [01:37:44] Speaker B: Okay. [01:37:44] Speaker C: And some good. Good aim to get a ball over if they're trying to try to tag somebody out over at second or third. I'm gonna put Soul crusher over on right field. [01:37:52] Speaker A: Nice. Soul crusher. Like Sergey Soul crusher or original soul crusher? [01:37:57] Speaker C: Sergey. Soul crusher. [01:38:00] Speaker B: Sergey. [01:38:01] Speaker C: Sergey. [01:38:02] Speaker B: Sorry. [01:38:02] Speaker C: You got me saying it. [01:38:04] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. I'm sorry. [01:38:05] Speaker B: Sergey. [01:38:07] Speaker C: You got Sergey over there, and he can be upset if he needs to be too. [01:38:13] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm sorry. I mispronounced your name. Fictional character. Sergey. Sergey. [01:38:19] Speaker B: Sergey. [01:38:21] Speaker C: I'm really sad, because I had a really good one for this last position. [01:38:25] Speaker A: I have a good one too. [01:38:26] Speaker C: Okay. [01:38:27] Speaker A: So, designated hitter. I think there's only really one choice out of the humans that spawn has encountered. It's in his name. I'm gonna go with Batman. [01:38:42] Speaker B: Hey. [01:38:43] Speaker C: Oh, man. Oh, man. That's. That's great. That's great. Batman. [01:38:49] Speaker A: Batman's a designated hitter because he's good with the bat. He's a human being that has interacted with spawn multiple times. [01:38:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:38:56] Speaker A: So he's. He's mentioned in a spawn. The black beast is mentioned in a main spawn comic, so he is a spawn character. I'm sorry, but Batman is now a spawn character, not a Batman character. [01:39:08] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [01:39:09] Speaker A: And Batman is the designated hitter. [01:39:12] Speaker B: Nice. [01:39:13] Speaker C: Nice. All right. I don't think we're gonna deal with alts or people that we could call up from. [01:39:21] Speaker B: From. [01:39:22] Speaker C: From the pits of hell. From the pits of hell just because, you know, we could go on and on forever. So, I mean, that's a good team. [01:39:30] Speaker A: This is a good team. [01:39:32] Speaker B: Very nice. [01:39:32] Speaker C: Very nice. Just because. Just because I. I was very proud of it. My designated hitter choice would have been Byron TM. [01:39:40] Speaker A: Oh, I did a Byron tM on there. I scratched him out, though, because he's. [01:39:45] Speaker C: Because he's massive, and he would have just been able to. He would have been like Adam Dunn was for the White Sox for the longest time. Just. [01:39:52] Speaker B: I was just trying to be clever. [01:39:53] Speaker A: With the Batman joke, and also I thought I was clever for thinking of humans and Batman as a spawn character. [01:39:58] Speaker C: No, no. That's a great one. You chose a couple that I didn't even think about, and it's. Oh, man, this is great. [01:40:05] Speaker A: So just to go over it again, pitcher, we got Sam Burke, catcher. Granny Blake, first baseman is Taylor, second baseman. Twitch Williams, third baseman. Bobby, get that. Hey, Bobby, drop that. Drop that bottle of strawberry ripple. Drop that bottle of whiskey. Bobby, get away from that guy. [01:40:25] Speaker C: You can have it back when you tag him out. [01:40:28] Speaker A: Short stop. [01:40:29] Speaker B: We got Mark Rosen, left field. [01:40:31] Speaker A: Terry Fitzgerald, focus as center field. Soul crusher. [01:40:37] Speaker B: Sergey as right field, and Batman as the designated hitter. Oh, yeah. [01:40:44] Speaker C: This is a great team. [01:40:45] Speaker A: He does some great entrance music for Batman. You got lots to choose. [01:40:47] Speaker C: Yeah, we would. [01:40:48] Speaker B: Yeah, you do. [01:40:49] Speaker C: You do. [01:40:50] Speaker A: You do a giacchino. You could do a James Horner. You could do a Danny Elfman. [01:40:55] Speaker C: You could do a Hans Zimmer. [01:40:57] Speaker A: You could do a Hans Zimmer. Giacchino's score was good for the Batman. I liked it. [01:41:02] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, it was good. [01:41:03] Speaker C: I mean, the Batman was just great. All around. [01:41:05] Speaker A: Great movie. Can't wait for this penguin show. [01:41:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:41:08] Speaker C: It's gonna be good. [01:41:09] Speaker B: Oh, nice. So nice. [01:41:12] Speaker C: What team do you want to draft next time, Johnny? [01:41:14] Speaker A: I feel like hell's probably, like, the climax. I think we should do heaven. [01:41:18] Speaker B: Heaven. [01:41:19] Speaker C: Okay, so we'll do Hell's heaven next week. [01:41:21] Speaker B: Hell's. [01:41:22] Speaker C: Yeah, hell's the. Actually, Earth is the one that I. [01:41:24] Speaker B: Found the most people for, because I did find a lot. [01:41:28] Speaker A: Some of my favorites that I thought about drafting that I didn't. Just some, like, deep cuts. The old man with the sex worker from King Spawn. I didn't know where to put him, but I thought about him. [01:41:45] Speaker C: That would have been a good one. [01:41:46] Speaker A: And then I thought about the crazy alt right teens from king Spawn, but. [01:41:50] Speaker B: I didn't know where to put them. Yeah, those are the only really funny. [01:41:56] Speaker A: Ones, I think, that I came up with. [01:41:58] Speaker C: I had a, uh. Wanda. [01:42:02] Speaker A: Yeah, Wanda was on there. I didn't know where to put Wanda. [01:42:04] Speaker C: Um, Tommy or goon number one? You know, one of the goons from issue five. Who's talking about how many people they've killed. [01:42:11] Speaker B: Oh, right. [01:42:12] Speaker C: Um, right, right. Uh, and then the freak would have been one. [01:42:16] Speaker A: The freak. I forgot about the freak. [01:42:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:42:19] Speaker A: We got a good team. This is good. [01:42:21] Speaker C: Yeah, this is a good one. [01:42:22] Speaker B: All right. Awesome. We'll do. [01:42:23] Speaker C: We'll do heaven next week. Um, and you know what else we'll be doing next week, Johnny? [01:42:27] Speaker A: Reading some more spawn. [01:42:29] Speaker C: We'll be reading some more spawn, if you can believe it. [01:42:31] Speaker B: I can. [01:42:31] Speaker C: So, uh, so, yeah, next week, for our. For our classic, for a classic, we'll have gunslinger, spawn number six. Instant classic, if you ask me. [01:42:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:42:41] Speaker A: Classic in the way that it's classic and classic because it got our new friend Logan into it. And he'll be joining us. [01:42:48] Speaker B: Yeah. And it's great. [01:42:51] Speaker C: And, uh, current issues, we'll be. We'll be reading scorched 14. It's another gunslinger. [01:42:55] Speaker B: Scorched times. [01:42:58] Speaker C: It's real good. [01:42:59] Speaker A: I think he appears in this one too. He appears in 14 at the very end, I believe. [01:43:04] Speaker C: Oh, yes. Yes. I do believe he does. [01:43:06] Speaker B: Yes. [01:43:06] Speaker A: In a very stunning view. Very dramatic fashion for Javi. Very classic Javi. [01:43:11] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:43:12] Speaker C: That actually. That actually ties into this week's gunslinger 18. [01:43:17] Speaker A: It does. [01:43:17] Speaker B: So. [01:43:17] Speaker C: Oh, man. [01:43:18] Speaker A: It's all coming together. [01:43:20] Speaker C: I mean, it's always, always coming together. [01:43:22] Speaker B: Oh, man. [01:43:23] Speaker C: So that's next week. [01:43:26] Speaker B: Do you. [01:43:26] Speaker C: Hey, Johnny, speaking of Logan, Logan's a friend of ours, right? [01:43:30] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. What? [01:43:32] Speaker C: Do we have any more friends that you can think of? [01:43:35] Speaker A: We've got lots of friends. We got friends on Instagram, and we always like to highlight a friend. You know, you guys have been so good to us and so supportive. So this week, we wanted to highlight an account. Raul Cespidis. And the account name is Rawlsespidis, 58. And they are an artist who has a lot of great spawn fan art. They got into scorch number ten with that awesome one that we actually mentioned. [01:44:02] Speaker B: We were like, hey, look at that. [01:44:03] Speaker A: Cool one with the clowns playing with the. With the Billy Kincaid and the spawn marionette. He drew that. [01:44:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. It's a great one. [01:44:12] Speaker A: But he's got a lot of cool stuff. Not all spawn, but some other stuff too. And really supportive, dude. So you should definitely give him a follow for all that cool spawn stuff. [01:44:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Hell. [01:44:21] Speaker A: Got my girl Zatanna. Got Boba Fett. [01:44:25] Speaker C: Yeah. He's got a. [01:44:26] Speaker B: He's got a dragon spawn, Santa Spawn, all kinds of fun stuff. Yeah. Rose. [01:44:33] Speaker C: Good guy. Give him some love. [01:44:35] Speaker B: Give him some love. [01:44:37] Speaker A: While you're over there, make sure to give some love to T Brian Voyler. Brian, who does our music, our excellent music as you. That new spawn baseball theme you just heard. [01:44:49] Speaker C: Yeah, he's. He's also the. The elusive sponfert. He's, uh, he's the one that will know. We'll know. We've arrived when we've got the Br. [01:44:56] Speaker B: The Brian convert. [01:44:59] Speaker A: The movie will help. The movie will help. Or if there was a cool video game. He likes video games. [01:45:04] Speaker C: When he starts singing the praises of. [01:45:05] Speaker B: Spahn, we'll know we have, uh, we've. [01:45:09] Speaker A: Done it, succeeded in our mission, and. [01:45:12] Speaker C: Then the podcast will be over. [01:45:14] Speaker B: No, no. [01:45:14] Speaker C: Never. Never. [01:45:16] Speaker A: Until we die or Spawn runs out. But probably we will die first. [01:45:22] Speaker C: There's. There will definitely be some spawn we will never be able to get our hands on. [01:45:26] Speaker B: So, so we can always just, if. [01:45:30] Speaker C: We run out of actual issues, can just start being like, the podcast is about hunting for these lust issues, and that's it. [01:45:37] Speaker A: Yeah, we have to call in, like, the Spawn Avengers. We call in Spawn safari and Spawn hunter and Petru. Spawn. Like, we need your help. [01:45:45] Speaker B: Although. [01:45:45] Speaker C: Although, yeah. Spawn hunter would probably just be like, yeah. Oh, yeah, I got, like, two of them over here. [01:45:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:45:50] Speaker A: We're like, oh, great. [01:45:52] Speaker B: Perfect. You'll have to. [01:45:54] Speaker C: We'll have to. We'll have to hook up with him sometime. [01:45:57] Speaker B: Definitely. [01:45:58] Speaker A: And while you're over there on Instagram, checking all the other Spawn people, make sure to check us out at regarding. [01:46:02] Speaker B: Spawnpod on Instagram, where we're showing our. [01:46:07] Speaker A: Figures, showing our pickups, reviewing the issues. Just given, like, we're doing some reels now. Things are getting wild over there. [01:46:14] Speaker B: We're showing our faces. [01:46:15] Speaker C: Oh, my goodness. [01:46:16] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:46:16] Speaker A: If you're listening to us, like, I wonder what these guys look like, you can go to the Instagram and find out. [01:46:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:46:20] Speaker C: And pretty soon, you'll be like, um, well, I wish they would stop showing us what they look like. [01:46:24] Speaker A: Yeah, I wish I didn't know what. [01:46:27] Speaker C: Happened to the spawn. Give us more spawn. [01:46:29] Speaker B: Yes, yes, yes. [01:46:31] Speaker C: That will be there, too. [01:46:33] Speaker A: And if you want to comment on our faces, you can always send us an [email protected]. And I like to pose a question every week. [01:46:44] Speaker B: This week, the question. [01:46:45] Speaker A: And of course, you can answer these at any time. If you're listening in the future, if you're listening now, just send us the answer, and we'll get to it. Definitely read it on air. But my question this week to our listeners is, what is your favorite of the current four spawns? [01:46:59] Speaker B: Which is the one that really gets you good. [01:47:02] Speaker A: Is it king spawn, Spawn, gunslinger spawn or the scorch? And just why it's your favorite. And not to diminish the other ones, but, you know, everyone's got their personal. Mine would be king Spawn. I know David's probably a gunslinger. Spawn guy. [01:47:17] Speaker C: Gunslinger. [01:47:18] Speaker B: Just. [01:47:18] Speaker C: It's. [01:47:19] Speaker B: It's. [01:47:19] Speaker C: It's a toss up between Kingspawn and Gunslinger. But I think Gunslinger, just. The child in me just is so happy with gunslinger every week. [01:47:29] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [01:47:31] Speaker A: Issue 18 was really good. [01:47:33] Speaker C: Hey, Johnny, can I have a follow up to this question? [01:47:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:47:37] Speaker C: So you say that the listeners can answer any time. So what if by the time the. [01:47:43] Speaker B: Listeners, you know, maybe they're behind a. [01:47:46] Speaker C: Little bit and they're getting caught up and they hear this question and they. [01:47:49] Speaker B: Want to answer it. [01:47:50] Speaker C: What if there's more than the four titles? [01:47:53] Speaker A: There probably will be at some point. Man, that sounds crazy to think about. Then you can say whichever than four. Whichever of the current titles is your favorite. If there's a Sam and twitch, if there's a medieval. If there's priest starring Jessica Priest. [01:48:06] Speaker C: I mean, the rate we're going, I wouldn't be surprised if clown got his own comic at some point. That's a. Could you imagine? [01:48:12] Speaker A: I would love a clown comic. [01:48:15] Speaker C: A comic book dedicated just to clown thinking that he's right. Oh, man, that would be so fucked up. [01:48:21] Speaker A: That's my dream project to write. [01:48:23] Speaker C: Oh, man, that would be like a venom book or like a. [01:48:28] Speaker B: Like a. [01:48:29] Speaker C: No, I wouldn't say punisher. Cause Punisher is actually. [01:48:31] Speaker A: The violator was really good. The Alan Moore violator. I mean, shockingly. Oh, my God. A book written by Alan Moore was good. [01:48:37] Speaker C: Never. It never happens, Joni. [01:48:39] Speaker A: But the violator miniseries he did is pretty good. Yeah, I think that covers all our bases. And, you know, make sure wherever you listen to us to rate, review and subscribe, helps us get out there and spread the word. Yeah, we did get another five star review on iTunes as of this last week, David. [01:48:56] Speaker C: Oh, we did. [01:48:57] Speaker A: Didn't have any text, but it just. We got another five star. [01:49:01] Speaker C: Well, thank you. Thank you, everybody. [01:49:03] Speaker B: Did you know who you were? Thank you. [01:49:05] Speaker C: I'm giving you two thumbs up right now. I know you can't see it, because. [01:49:09] Speaker B: Audio, audio podcast. But thank you very much. [01:49:12] Speaker A: Thumbs up. So that's four thumbs up. Not as good as five stars, but it's the best. All the amount of thumbs we have. [01:49:17] Speaker C: If we were current brick shithouse clown with all of our omens, we would be making them also give thumbs up while we gave thumbs up. So you would have however many children Billy Kincaid killed. What? [01:49:30] Speaker B: It's 28, something like that. [01:49:32] Speaker C: Is that how many it was? [01:49:33] Speaker A: 27? 28? [01:49:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:49:35] Speaker C: So that would be something like 56 thumbs up. Plus r two as clown, plus r two as both of us. [01:49:42] Speaker B: That'd be great. [01:49:43] Speaker C: So that would be like, 64 ish thumbs up. [01:49:46] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [01:49:47] Speaker A: And that's what we give you, our listeners, is 64 hellish thumbs up? [01:49:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:49:53] Speaker C: Hell, yeah. So I think. I think that just leaves us, Johnny. [01:49:59] Speaker B: May the scorched be with you. And also with you, David. Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah. You gotta be. [01:50:07] Speaker C: The thing is about that TNT, Johnny, is you gotta be careful with it, because if it sweats, it sweats pure nitroglycerin. So, you know, if you drop any of those bad boys, you're gonna be. [01:50:16] Speaker B: Whoo. [01:50:17] Speaker A: What? [01:50:17] Speaker B: You're gonna be what? [01:50:18] Speaker A: What if I drop any of it? What do you mean? I'm putting it in a crate, and I'm moving with it right now. [01:50:23] Speaker C: Yeah, well, be careful with that crate. If it bumps. If it bumps around too much, it could explode on.
