[00:01:14] Speaker C: In the winter when it's not? But then sometimes in the springtime and. [00:01:17] Speaker B: Sometimes in the fall, jumping between the. [00:01:20] Speaker C: Sheets with nothing on at all. It seems like you would want those pink pajamas for the spring and the Fall, and then just be all natural, Al, in the summertime when it's hot. [00:01:31] Speaker B: I don't get it. [00:01:33] Speaker A: I don't get it either. [00:01:34] Speaker C: I have no idea what you're talking about. So there's an old song we used to sing in boy scouts, sung to the tomb of glory, glory hallelujah. And it's I wear my woolen ninety s in the winter. I wear my pink pajamas in the summer when it's hot. I wear my woolen ninety s in the winter when it's not. And sometimes in the springtime and sometimes in the fall, I jump right in between the Sheets with nothing on at all. [00:01:59] Speaker A: That doesn't make no sense. [00:02:00] Speaker C: It doesn't make no sense because spring and fall gets a little chilly. You're going to want a little something on you to keep you from getting cold. It feels like, long story short, Johnny, it's time for sleeping in the nude. [00:02:14] Speaker A: Okay. All natural. [00:02:17] Speaker C: A long way to get to it, man. As far as talking about even thinking. [00:02:21] Speaker A: About these horny comics too much, you're. [00:02:23] Speaker B: Always talking about, man. Johnny, I don't know if you know. The story about two people that find out that when they have sex, they can stop time. And then they have sex with each other, and they're like, wait, you're not frozen. And so they become a crime pair. They are also the publisher that just. [00:03:44] Speaker B: Had the comic sex image. [00:03:48] Speaker C: Pretty horny, Johnny. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:51] Speaker A: I mean, even spawn's a little. [00:03:55] Speaker C: A. [00:03:55] Speaker A: Just a little tiny for a certain she spawned. [00:04:00] Speaker C: I'm pretty sure there was a bit in here that I was going to talk about that. [00:04:12] Speaker B: Well, we're here regarding Spawn to talk. [00:04:15] Speaker A: About two issues from Spawn's universe. [00:04:19] Speaker C: Oh, very interesting. Tell me more. [00:04:21] Speaker A: We usually cover a classic and a newer one. Right now we've got some on our classic for the main spawn. We're kind of closing that gap on that 300 that run from the big explosion from Al. So, like, from two, from the recap, was that 296? [00:04:40] Speaker C: I think it was 297. [00:04:42] Speaker B: 297. [00:04:42] Speaker A: Until now. I can never remember that one number. [00:04:44] Speaker B: It's always tough. [00:04:46] Speaker A: So it's long and short way of saying we're at 305. So it's hell hunt part four, as it says on the COVID I'm looking at right here. [00:04:55] Speaker B: And then we've also got a more. [00:04:57] Speaker A: Modern spawn 340, hell hunt. Three hundred and five s. All the. [00:05:03] Speaker B: Way back from February 2020. [00:05:08] Speaker C: It was good times going on in the world. Johnny, what kind of great parties and trips were you taking in February 2020? [00:05:18] Speaker A: I remember my friend came in from out of town, and my birthday is February 27. [00:05:23] Speaker B: We went and saw the invisible man, the one with Elizabeth Moss. Okay. [00:05:33] Speaker A: Which is pretty good movie. And then we saw that. And then we were talking. He's like, yeah, I don't know if I'll be coming up for a while. They said they might be halting traveling for my work because of this coronavirus thing. [00:05:45] Speaker B: And I was like, damn. And then that was actually even. [00:05:49] Speaker A: Not even the last movie I saw in the theater. [00:05:53] Speaker B: Nice. [00:05:53] Speaker A: It was the second to last because I think it was a movie pass times. Or was it Regal Unlimited times? I can't remember. I think it was Regal Unlimited. [00:06:02] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:03] Speaker C: Because I think movie pass stopped at the beginning of 2019. [00:06:06] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:06:07] Speaker A: I was on Regal Unlimited, and so we were seeing everything. And so I think I saw onward. [00:06:13] Speaker B: Was, I think the last movie I saw in theater onward. [00:06:17] Speaker C: What is that? I don't even recognize that name. [00:06:19] Speaker A: It's a Pixar movie. That kind of sucked. [00:06:22] Speaker C: Oh, okay. It's the one that's Chris Pratt and Tom Hollander brothers, the trolls in the van. The van was the best part of that movie. [00:06:31] Speaker B: Good van. [00:06:33] Speaker A: It didn't suck. [00:06:34] Speaker B: I know. [00:06:35] Speaker A: It was fine. It was passable. [00:06:36] Speaker C: Yeah, it was fine. [00:06:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:38] Speaker C: I like an 80s van with, like, wizards and dragons and shit painted on the side. We need to bring that back, Johnny. [00:06:46] Speaker B: Yeah, I love a cool van. [00:06:48] Speaker C: We need to talk to that guy who had that spawn jeep and figure out where. [00:07:20] Speaker A: Yeah, two necroplasmic buns, just like Al. [00:07:23] Speaker C: Speaking of Horny, what's the sesame seeds on top? And then just kind of, like, coasted on it until you got into it. [00:09:19] Speaker B: And then we're like, hey, David, David, David. [00:09:23] Speaker C: Hey, David. The greatest king spawn did it. King Spawn, man. Johnny, I think that technically means you are now the king's pawn. [00:09:33] Speaker A: I am the king's pawn. [00:09:34] Speaker B: Raven. [00:09:34] Speaker A: Spawn is going to come make fun of me. [00:09:38] Speaker C: He's got to shoot a raven down your throat. [00:09:41] Speaker A: So spawn on this cover of 305 is looking real. [00:09:56] Speaker C: I recently watched a movie where somebody was like, I'd like to go back to my imagination now. And they were reading a comic book on the couch. So every time I sit down to read a comic book now, I'm like, I'm going to my imagination. [00:10:09] Speaker A: Yeah, he's crouched down. And you always say it's kind of reminiscent of the origins collection. [00:10:15] Speaker B: This one's a little. [00:10:17] Speaker C: It's an off kilter version of the origins trade Dressing, because usually the rectangle is right in the middle in the background, and here it's shifted just to the left a little bit. So it's a little disconcerting, if you will. [00:10:31] Speaker A: And this is a Mattina cover. [00:10:34] Speaker B: Francesco Mattina, always doing classy, classy work. Well, what I imagine is, after that issue that Alan Moore wrote, while I let him go crazy, he was like, I feel like Todd McFarlane or, sorry. [00:15:42] Speaker C: Of poked at it a little bit when we were there, that there maybe wasn't, like, a grand design for where the story was going at that point. But I think maybe the toddfather had at least some bullet points that he wanted to hit that necessitated spawn remaining by himself. [00:16:01] Speaker B: Right. [00:16:02] Speaker A: And he also just kind of. [00:16:04] Speaker B: They wave the hand away where he. [00:16:06] Speaker A: Gets to keep whatever he wants to from that. And he does keep some things like he keeps the term fleabiac, I believe. [00:16:10] Speaker B: Is coined in there. He keeps the brothers, but definitely he. [00:18:29] Speaker C: Oh, so you're saying our buddy Thomas Healy worked his way up from we're going to next, we're going to learn that he cleaned the bathrooms for the spawn office first. And he worked his way up through there. That would be awesome. [00:18:43] Speaker A: All the way from the mail room. I tell you, the mail room, man. [00:18:48] Speaker C: I really wish they still had a mail room, because every time I get mail at work, nobody knows where it's supposed to go. And it always arrives, like, three months late because somebody's just like, oh, shit, there's a box in the basement with mail in it we were supposed to pick up. [00:19:02] Speaker A: Oh, boy. [00:19:03] Speaker B: Yeah. Do us a mail room. [00:19:06] Speaker C: A little insight into David's brain here. After I interviewed my place of employment, I went home and I wrote a thank you for letting me have this opportunity to be interviewed letter and mailed it the same day. It did not show up until six months later, after I was already working there. [00:19:24] Speaker B: And they were like, oh, I guess. [00:19:26] Speaker C: It'S a good thing we chose you anyway. [00:19:29] Speaker A: That's hilarious. It's like back the future where he mails the letter to himself. [00:19:36] Speaker C: Marty. [00:19:39] Speaker A: So previously in Spawn. As Eddie Frank is hunted by violent agents of the afterlife. In a small North Dakota town, Spawn and his allies work to track all the powerful anomalies that have appeared across the globe. Meanwhile, medieval spawn arrives in North Dakota, and Eddie's troubles have only just begun. [00:20:02] Speaker C: He's only just begun. [00:20:06] Speaker A: Evil never wins when Batman begins. [00:20:09] Speaker B: Yeah, that was the tagline for the toy line, not for the movie. Little. [00:20:18] Speaker C: That's a little on the nose. Especially for Christopher Nolan. [00:20:21] Speaker B: Yeah, Christopher Nolan wouldn't be. [00:20:25] Speaker C: While I often decry Christopher Nolan for. [00:20:29] Speaker B: Being more obvious than subtle, Subtle was. [00:20:35] Speaker C: The word I was trying to say there. [00:20:36] Speaker A: He's definitely a maximalist filmmaker. [00:20:38] Speaker C: That's definitely way more obvious than he would ever dare go. [00:20:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:46] Speaker A: I feel like his movies don't really have taglines. Just like the tagline is a. [00:20:55] Speaker C: That's a. [00:20:55] Speaker B: That's a decent style. [00:20:57] Speaker A: Well, much like the snowy scene in. [00:20:59] Speaker B: Inception, we open on a snowy North Dakota town. Yes. [00:21:05] Speaker A: And just the Todd father. I like this transformation scene where his eye just gets, like, real big. It's very the judge and Roger rabbit where his cartoon eyes pop out real big. [00:24:01] Speaker A: Or like the cartoon two face from Batman, the animated series. [00:24:05] Speaker C: Yeah. I like how they put the little halo on top of him because he's still an angel. So he's got a halo. [00:24:11] Speaker B: Yeah. That's funny. [00:24:14] Speaker C: It doesn't last very long. [00:24:16] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, he's like somebody who enlisted in, like, 1944 and was like, yeah, I'm not going to be sent over there. And then got sent over anyway. Or at the end of World War II and then got roped into going to Korea. That's a better analogy. [00:54:44] Speaker B: He wants to fight, though, but not right now. [00:54:48] Speaker C: He's frozen. But his suit also has, like, a little drone companion and has the ability to travel. And so he steals the suit and he's like, I'm going to be a superhero now. And then he somehow gets thrown back in time. I don't remember how it happens, but he intentionally is like, I'm going to go back in time and become, like, the greatest superhero ever. Al Simmons does a decapitation. [01:04:46] Speaker A: Yeah, near the end of the comic, he decapitates the dude. [01:04:49] Speaker C: Yeah, he decapitates this dude with his chain, man. Can you imagine? [01:04:56] Speaker A: And then we cut from that eye in the sky. We're assuming this is who was watching them. [01:05:01] Speaker B: Yeah, you've got this angel guy with his helmet off who's just telling this guy named Rapture that they're here and what they've been up to. [01:05:14] Speaker A: Rapture looks like a big, evil angel. [01:05:18] Speaker B: Got, like, a loki helmet on. He looks really happy to be killing. [01:05:22] Speaker A: These people, to be getting spawned and hot. [01:05:24] Speaker C: He says that means we've already won. And he's like, dispatch teams to each of the dead zone sites. Tell them this is a priority one initiative. We now know what that means. But, man, why would he be so happy to be not putting teams of angels on Spawn and moving them away? [01:05:51] Speaker B: I don't know. [01:05:54] Speaker C: He's got a little bit of a crazy in his eyes too. [01:05:59] Speaker B: He's got that manic excitement that. He's got, like, some pseudo sin armor. [01:06:45] Speaker B: Going on here, and he wants to. [01:06:47] Speaker A: Know who's responsible for trapping me in this cesspool. [01:06:51] Speaker C: Yeah, he kind of looks a little bit like apocalypse. [01:06:54] Speaker B: It's just, like, a fancier a. Yeah, a little bit. [01:06:59] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm loving this sort of crazy, wild, decadent, super comic bookie style that Carlo Barberi is bringing on everybody. All of these outfits look awesome. He doesn't care about sort of the practical things aren't designed to be practical. They're just designed to look awesome. [01:07:33] Speaker B: And it's great. [01:15:02] Speaker C: Yeah, it's that classic epic fantasy storytelling. [01:15:08] Speaker B: Where you get two groups and you bounce between them. [01:15:12] Speaker A: I'm going to give it three chains. [01:15:15] Speaker B: To the Achilles heel, just like Spawn does. [01:15:18] Speaker A: That angel. At the beginning, he shoots his chain. [01:33:42] Speaker C: Oh, nice. I will tell you what to read, Johnny. [01:33:45] Speaker A: Tell me what to. [01:33:47] Speaker C: Uh, Illinois just passed an anti book ban legislation, but I am going to ban you from reading any books but these two, Johnny, I am risking my freedom and not being in jail time for this because, well, we really appreciate it. I enjoy it too much. You, Johnny, you were going to be reading for next week. We're going to be reading two entries into Spawn's universe. Our classic next week will be king spawn number nine. Yeah, that's the penultimate to tie up the whole king Spawn lineage. So after that, we've only got one classic king Spawn left, so we better enjoy it while it lasts. Yeah. [01:34:33] Speaker B: And then our current issue is going. [01:34:37] Speaker C: To be gunslinger Spawn 19. And we get to learn how Javi got out of that scrape that he was in at the end of 18. [01:34:49] Speaker B: We got his chest blown up. [01:34:51] Speaker C: Also, there's something fantastic that happens at the end of the issue that we might have some strong opinions about. [01:35:02] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:35:04] Speaker C: Regardless of what we feel about it, it's happened and there's no goal. [01:35:10] Speaker B: It has happened like a shark always moving forward. [01:35:14] Speaker C: Yeah, unless it's a nurse shark. Nurse Sharks can sit still. They can pump that water over their own gills. [01:35:21] Speaker A: We don't want to be a nurse shark. [01:35:22] Speaker B: We want to be moving forward. No. [01:35:25] Speaker C: Speaking of, Johnny, do you have a favorite shark? [01:35:29] Speaker B: Not really. Not really? [01:35:31] Speaker A: I mean, I guess the great white or the hammerhead. [01:35:34] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Hammerhead is my favorite shark, mostly because you see a hammerhead from the side and it looks like an absolute dingus, but no hammerhead. Shark's favorite sharks. Also, second question of the week for the email. What's your favorite shark? [01:35:53] Speaker A: Yeah, we got a kind of shark. [01:35:55] Speaker C: We're going to have shark week coming up here. Before too long. Sonic is going to have shark week. Slushies. Let's go. [01:36:03] Speaker A: Sharks are in. [01:36:05] Speaker B: Yeah, man. I love a shark. Love a shark. [01:36:07] Speaker C: I've always loved a shark. [01:36:10] Speaker B: Used to scare me, man. [01:36:12] Speaker C: I always used to. When I was little and at the beach, every single time I was in the water, I thought I saw a shark coming after me, and I would always run out screaming and be like, oh, yeah. [01:36:26] Speaker A: After I saw jaws, I was scared of a shark at the swimming pool. [01:36:29] Speaker B: Like, it didn't, man. Yeah. Oh, man. [01:36:33] Speaker C: So, yeah, that's what we got for next week, Johnny. [01:36:35] Speaker B: We're going to be reading some spawn, and it's going to be great. [01:36:38] Speaker C: I think that just leaves me to. [01:36:39] Speaker B: Say, johnny, may the scorched be with you. And also with you, David. Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah. Oh, man. Well, really excited to get this medieval figure. Yeah. [01:36:56] Speaker C: Well, luckily he came with a hammer because I got to go to work. I told some people I'd help him do some carpentry work, so. [01:37:05] Speaker B: Got my hammer. I'm going to go do that. [01:37:11] Speaker A: It's a sturdy hammer toy. You could probably really use it as a hammer. I'm happy for you. I'm glad you got this. [01:37:15] Speaker C: Yeah, no, all the other guys at the site are going to be so jealous. They're going to want to borrow it, and I'm going to be like, nah, I'm never going to give it back. [01:37:24] Speaker B: If I give it to you. [01:37:25] Speaker A: Yeah, it's got the spawn emblem on it. [01:37:27] Speaker B: Yeah, that totally means you'll be able. [01:37:31] Speaker C: To see in the wood. When I've missed the nail. [01:37:35] Speaker A: You just see the spawn face all around the nail. [01:37:38] Speaker C: Somebody's going to move into their house. They're going to be like, what is this? I dig it. [01:37:45] Speaker A: Who put all these venoms on my wall? And David comes in and goes, it's not venom. [01:37:53] Speaker C: They were created by the same man.
