[00:00:00] Speaker A: The devil lords from Hell's other realms always thought of him as unworthy. They never considered him a peer. His hellspawn symbiote experiments using non demons only verified their disdain. And when one of those experiments beheaded him, it sent a ripple effect throughout hell that still reverberates. He failed on every level. And then he died. Good evening and welcome to the Mal Balls. This is regarding Spawn, the world's best Spawn podcast. I am your co host, John Fisher. [00:01:09] Speaker B: And I am your co host, David Williams. And Johnny, I hear that Oklahoma is having things called flash droughts. [00:01:19] Speaker A: Yeah, they're called. It's called 100. It's like the surface of the Venus out there. [00:01:23] Speaker B: Dude, my mom is. [00:01:26] Speaker A: I was like talking to a co worker and I was like, you know, in 15 years we're not going to be able to walk outside. We talked about this in the show. Yeah, I'll be wearing a spacesuit. [00:01:33] Speaker B: Yeah. My mom is part of the master. [00:01:36] Speaker A: The local weather is like, don't get me into a local news Oklahoma side quest because I'll go on for an hour. Oh, yeah, there's been a lot of shakeups, David. [00:01:47] Speaker B: Oh, I believe. [00:01:47] Speaker A: But I love local news. I've always watched it wherever I lived. It's like, good. My favorite background noise. And there's been some shaking on some stations. They're just getting shittier and shittier because like Scripps corporations stripping them for parts. But I saw the weather forecast this morning and there was nothing under 100 for nine. Nine days. Even the predicted, like the little ones in the bottom right corner that are like, next week. [00:02:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:16] Speaker A: And they're all over 100. [00:02:17] Speaker B: Oh, geez. Yeah, my mom's a member of the Master Gardeners Club at OSU Tulsa. And she says that like it gets there. She gets irrigated twice a day and it's just like drying up and dying left and right. [00:02:30] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:02:31] Speaker B: It's insane. It's wild. [00:02:33] Speaker A: Yeah, the weather's. Dude, it's wild. I went from. I lived in Chicago for 15 years. I come back to this 100 degree weather shit. How do you tell me about this? [00:02:44] Speaker B: You might as well just like impale yourself on a spike and get something to twirl you around and turn yourself into a rotisserie chicken or something. Oh, man. Oh, speaking of local news, Johnny, I just heard that apparently Cherry street is developing drone delivery. [00:02:58] Speaker A: Yes, they had it tonight. Tonight it premiered. They. Drone delivery in Tulsa. I. I watched the newscast and I was like, what are they delivering? I don't think they ever said. [00:03:08] Speaker B: I think. I think it's just the restaurants and shit on Cherry Street. [00:03:11] Speaker A: Yeah, restaurant. Oh, restaurants. [00:03:13] Speaker B: Yeah. I think it's because. [00:03:15] Speaker A: So the end of the newscast said they cut off service. So the newscast, Channel six. If we're. We're going in, we're going hard. David. [00:03:23] Speaker B: I watched CBS, Channel 6. [00:03:25] Speaker A: CBS, that's the only one that's actually all based in Tulsa now, Channel two. So what I don't want to get into is Channel 2 fired all their camera people. NBC, the NBC station, KJRH, Channel 2, Tulsa. They fired. And this is like, what's going on in local news. They fired all their editors and video camera operators. And like, basically reporters are expected to film themselves on their phone and edit themselves and submit it. And they're just like. They're like in an empty office or in a parking lot with a van in the background. It's a stager. Like, it's obviously a phone, but they do have the desk in the mornings and like, some random times, the. The weather guy is in the studio, but that's about it. [00:04:05] Speaker B: Damn, that fucking sucks. That's some bullshit. [00:04:08] Speaker A: But six is all classic. Still eight is all Oklahoma City. So, like, don't even watch eight. [00:04:14] Speaker B: ABC. Well, that sucks because NBC, NBC, Channel 2 used to have Travis Meyer. [00:04:20] Speaker A: Yeah. KJRH is the best. Yeah. I will still watch it until I can't take it anymore or I may watch the ship go down. [00:04:27] Speaker B: I mean, that's. [00:04:28] Speaker A: That's also what's news to me, David. What's news to me? Local news. [00:04:33] Speaker B: Okay. [00:04:33] Speaker A: Local is in this spawn community we have around this. [00:04:36] Speaker B: Oh, I thought you were gonna say, like, of Johnny in the room. He's sitting in this. [00:04:42] Speaker A: This podcast. [00:04:43] Speaker B: Yes. [00:04:43] Speaker A: I read a Todd McFarland issue that I love. [00:04:48] Speaker B: It was great. [00:04:50] Speaker A: I. Oh, I literally opened to read it. The first time I read it, I said, oh, my Todd. Because I looked in the top left corner and said, saw who wrote it? [00:04:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:04:56] Speaker A: And I saw the text on the side and I was like, okay. But it's great. [00:05:02] Speaker B: It's. It's. It's phenomenal. [00:05:06] Speaker A: It's great. [00:05:06] Speaker B: It's so good. [00:05:07] Speaker A: It's like, what have you been, Todd? What do you do? [00:05:10] Speaker B: That's wonderful. I'm glad. I'm glad you think that way, too. I only had one small gripe with it, but we'll get in there. But yeah, it's fucking. It's fucking amazing. [00:05:19] Speaker A: Why would we get into issue number 270, 372 of Todd McFarlane's spawn. [00:05:25] Speaker B: Because we're. We're gluttons. We like to. We like to get the words in our brains, Johnny. We like to see them and read them and imagine them. [00:05:33] Speaker A: A glutton. Someone feeds you canned foods in a ball and then they kick you in the stomach to kill you. On David Fincher 7 Wasn't there. [00:05:43] Speaker B: Wasn't there also, like, some being chained to a bed so that way they could force feed him? [00:05:48] Speaker A: No, that was sloth. [00:05:49] Speaker B: That was. Oh, that was sloth. Okay. [00:05:51] Speaker A: Gluttony was just a guy. It was in the beat. It was the first one they find. [00:05:55] Speaker B: Okay, and is it his stomach so full that when they kick him, something ruptures or. [00:06:01] Speaker A: No, he did that to him. [00:06:03] Speaker B: Okay. The. [00:06:04] Speaker A: If you're. You're Mandela affecting it, baby. [00:06:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm. No, no, I'm not Mandela effect. [00:06:10] Speaker A: He's already dead. His stomach is ruptured and you see like a flashlight, like, swipe of it. But he filled him up with food and kicked him in the stomach and killed him. [00:06:18] Speaker B: Okay, okay. I'm not Mandela affecting. I'm just misremembering and smooshing things together. [00:06:28] Speaker A: That's Mandela affecting. [00:06:30] Speaker B: Fine. [00:06:31] Speaker A: Except for a few things that I'm like. That is weird because I remember it the other way. [00:06:35] Speaker B: That is. [00:06:35] Speaker A: There's a couple of them. [00:06:38] Speaker B: I mean, it doesn't help that the Berenstain bears is spelled both ways. [00:06:42] Speaker A: Only a couple items is spelled the other way, though. Not. [00:06:44] Speaker B: Yeah, and it's like mostly. It's mostly videos that are spelled the other way. So I wonder if it's just the distribution company. Like, just the back room. David took the over. Took the order over the phone and. Just like how you spelled it. Ah, don't worry about it. We'll fix it later. [00:06:57] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. What we're not gonna fix later is the fact that we are respawn. That's why we're talking about spawn 2.372. [00:07:07] Speaker B: That ship already sailed, Johnny. There's no takesy backsies anymore. [00:07:10] Speaker A: We didn't say respawn yet, though. [00:07:12] Speaker B: No. Well, there's no taxi backsies because we are respawn. We have been respawn. And we will forever be respawn Where? [00:07:19] Speaker A: Each week we're bringing you two Spawn. Ish. Bring you two issues from Spawn's universe. Except when we don't. And that. That counts. [00:07:26] Speaker B: That counts. That counts. Oh, Johnny, we know we can bring you nothing. [00:07:30] Speaker A: That's the problem. It's in the contract. This week is no different. We have two Issues from sponsor universe. We have, as we've mentioned, and we, we got like two. I feel like I got a hot hand here, David. This hot hand. I, I wouldn't get two. Ace in the holes. [00:07:45] Speaker B: I went into this thinking I was gonna hate one and love the other one and just fucking adored both of them. [00:07:51] Speaker A: I did. Oh, David, I think we got. Get that air horn ready is what I'm saying. [00:07:56] Speaker B: Is it, is it an air horn or is it a foghorn? I think I've used both actually in the past. [00:08:02] Speaker A: It's foghorn Leghorn from now on. I do declare. This is messing up. It's foghorn. Yeah. [00:08:13] Speaker B: Because you do say it's extra crispy. So that we should probably do that. [00:08:16] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. That's the new bit from now on. Because I never knew. I think we've reached the pinnacle of it because I just like, we had two fives. We have to do something. [00:08:25] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. You, you always say we should do something and then you always say what we should do and then I'm always editing, so I'm always like, okay, yeah, okay, I'll just air horn. It just. It just turns out that I'm the one that edits those episodes. [00:08:35] Speaker A: So now it will be from now on, at the end of this episode, hopefully, unless David decides to be like a John McCain, like gets up there and he gives it a thumbs down. [00:08:45] Speaker B: I'm not gonna. Johnny, these issues don't deserve sabotage. Absolutely not. [00:08:51] Speaker A: But he sabotaged like the anti. To repeal Obamacare. [00:08:54] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah, he did. That was, that was actually. Oh, we. We were like, we did not do any work at work that day. We just watched and just like John McCain coming in with like two minutes to spare and just saying. No, we. I have never cheered for John McCain before, but I, I did cheer for [00:09:13] Speaker A: that, except in his death. I saw the pictures, David. You do the Tuscan Raider dance. [00:09:21] Speaker B: I, I did. I did this, this like little 2 second bit back and forth. [00:09:26] Speaker A: You look like a Tuscan raider. [00:09:27] Speaker B: That was the point. Yeah, that's what I was getting at. [00:09:30] Speaker A: You're holding your gaffey stick over your head and raging. [00:09:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:34] Speaker A: Anyway, secondly, we're doing another masterpiece. [00:09:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:37] Speaker A: Another fantastic issue. [00:09:38] Speaker B: Like, did you say, did you say the number? You said the number. Did you say the number? [00:09:41] Speaker A: No. 13. [00:09:43] Speaker B: No. Of the first one. Did you say the number of the first one? [00:09:45] Speaker A: 270. 372. [00:09:47] Speaker B: Okay, okay. [00:09:48] Speaker A: It's 372. Respond by Tom McFarland, by Todd McFarlane. And it's really Good. [00:09:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:53] Speaker A: And we have Deadly Tales of gunslinger Number Lucky 13. [00:09:56] Speaker B: Jesus Christ, it's been too long. Although. Jesus Christ, this is a heavy ass book, Johnny. [00:10:03] Speaker A: It's good. [00:10:04] Speaker B: It's. It's. It. It is. [00:10:07] Speaker A: Made me put on the Bone Tomahawk soundtrack. [00:10:10] Speaker B: Oh, nice. [00:10:11] Speaker A: I texted Bran. I was like, I'm listening to the. The end credits song. It's called Four Doom Men Ride out. And like, it's amazing. [00:10:19] Speaker B: Very nice. You should have. You should have put on the Bone Tomahawk soundtrack and the 3:10 to Yuma soundtrack. So that way you could have pulled [00:10:26] Speaker A: the Thomas Healey's pitch. [00:10:28] Speaker B: Yeah. Of 3:10 to Yuma. [00:10:31] Speaker A: It's like a. It's like a Dark side of the Dark side of the Rainbow thing. When you put them together, it creates a symphony. [00:10:38] Speaker B: Even though. Even though Dark side of the Moon only covers like a little less than half of the mo. [00:10:43] Speaker A: Say 47 minutes long. And they're like, I'll just restart it. [00:10:49] Speaker B: Restart doesn't work. Restart. [00:10:51] Speaker A: Yeah. If you restart, it still matches up. Wink. I think Party one time when I was in 11th grade. Never noticed it was in 10th grade, but I was friends with some 10th graders from gym class and they all went to the patio and smoked weed and I was too scared. I didn't. We came back and did Dark side of the the Rainbow. They wanted. They wanted his mom's roof and smoked a bowl of like weed from fucking 2002. [00:11:21] Speaker B: Some swag. Some swagweed. [00:11:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:23] Speaker B: Probably some brick weed. [00:11:25] Speaker A: But they were loving it. And I just like. I. I was like. They locked the door. He was like. He lived in like a different apartment. He's like a rich parent house. They like knew he smoked weed probably. They're artists. He would like. He had a lock on his door and my job was to lock the door if anyone came in. Be like, they thought they saw an animal out back and they weren't on the roof. And I was just playing this video game. [00:11:47] Speaker B: It was Jimothy. [00:11:48] Speaker A: And they didn't like. They didn't like, make me do that. I was like, I'm not gonna smoke weed. You guys go ahead. [00:11:52] Speaker B: I know how that is. I know who that is. I've. I've. Johnny. [00:11:57] Speaker A: 12th grade, baby. Give me that shit. [00:11:59] Speaker B: I was in that exact same position a couple of times. [00:12:02] Speaker A: Oh, many times. I was in like fucking middle school and I was like, I'm not gonna smoke weed. [00:12:07] Speaker B: Yeah. Then you get to college and it's like, oh, yeah. [00:12:11] Speaker A: Oh yeah. It's like, sure, why not? [00:12:12] Speaker B: Why the why the not. [00:12:14] Speaker A: But if you want to smoke weed and read these comics, you probably have a better time. But you probably have a great time sober too. Whatever you prefer. If you prefer reality. A little high sometimes. [00:12:24] Speaker B: I can't, I can't read when I'm high is the problem. I have a, I have a hard enough time, like, just reading regularly. I, I, I have to read a lot of stuff twice because my brain just moves too fast. And so I'm like, wait, what the just happened? And when I try to read while I' I literally read the same line for like four minutes. And I'm like, what? Huh? No good? No. Bueno, Johnny. Oh, man. Speaking of bueno, you're in the land of taco bueno. How often, how often you eating that shit? [00:12:58] Speaker A: Not. Not. [00:12:59] Speaker B: You know, you're not a, you know, bueno fan. [00:13:01] Speaker A: I love bueno. I used to love bueno, but it is a fallen franchise and the quality is not. It's always location. [00:13:10] Speaker B: It's always been a location specific franchise. I feel, ah, my wrist. My hand. Ah, Johnny, it's happened. I'm being eaten. I'm being eaten by one of my dogs. And you're gonna see it live on this Seymour Krellborn. And you're gonna have to, you're gonna have to record this for posterity and upload it to rotten2.com rotten2 Ron's up too. [00:13:37] Speaker A: All right. [00:13:38] Speaker B: Mr. Dingus is just, he's just full of piss and vinegar. Ah, he's, ah, he's gonna take that thumb. [00:13:45] Speaker A: Let's dingus out these issues we love. [00:13:48] Speaker B: Yeah, let's do it. Well, we gotta start, Johnny. We gotta start in a place where we always start on the COVID issues. [00:13:56] Speaker A: Well, I have the A cover. [00:13:58] Speaker B: I, Johnny, also have the A cover. I think, I think the only. I think the B cover is just black and white and white. [00:14:06] Speaker A: It's beautiful. It's got the purples. I love a purple and a red of a purple, green, red. Like, love all those colors. [00:14:12] Speaker B: It's done by Brett Booth, so. [00:14:15] Speaker A: It's amazing. [00:14:16] Speaker B: Yeah, it's, it's classic. Like Spawn standing on top of a, A steam vent on the top of a building. Yeah, like the chains, the chains have a lot of movement. The cape's got a lot of movement. [00:14:27] Speaker A: Purple and like turquoise. The bottom, it's amazing. [00:14:30] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. And like, there's the, just like the skyline in the background there along the bottom. It's a beautiful cover. [00:14:38] Speaker A: I did notice because this is, this I bought from my comic book store in Tulsa. And I missed like, I missed like a two month period. Mall caught up. No more digital, David. And we're all good. [00:14:49] Speaker B: Nice. No shade. [00:14:52] Speaker A: They're very good comic shop. I go there once a month and pick up 2 inches of spawn. The first month they called me, I was like, I am coming. I have a very rigorous job, so I can only make it there like once a month. But I promise you I will come pick them up like once every month or two. Okay. You need to call me again, Johnny. [00:15:14] Speaker B: We should have called this podcast Two Inches of Spawn. Two inches. [00:15:20] Speaker A: Are you impressed by that? I feel like this is a good 8 1/2 inches of spawn. [00:15:27] Speaker B: Well, I mean, if you put all the issues that we've covered together, it's probably a good foot and a half. [00:15:33] Speaker A: It's probably a wall. No, I'm just saying, like, you know, eight and a quarter. It's eight and a quarter Spawn. That's respectable. That's nice. [00:15:45] Speaker B: Or we. You could. You could do eight and a half and then it's got a little bit of the Fellini. [00:15:52] Speaker A: What are you talking about? Do you want to talk about dicks and penis size more, David? [00:15:56] Speaker B: I don't know. I. No, no, I just. I just thought 2 inches of spawn was funny because 2 inch, that is a good title. [00:16:04] Speaker A: It's a good time. [00:16:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I was. I was. [00:16:06] Speaker A: Let's change the title. [00:16:08] Speaker B: Not making a dick joke. [00:16:09] Speaker A: All right. Are we in respawn court? Hold on. Harry. Harry, do you want to change the title? [00:16:15] Speaker B: No, I don't. No, I don't. I don't want to change the title because then I'll have to. We'll have to explain. It used to be called this, but now it's called this. And then we'll have to redo all the. The old episodes that are uploaded and Johnny, I'm too lazy for that. [00:16:27] Speaker A: All right. [00:16:29] Speaker B: I just. I just think 2 inches of spawn is a good name for something. [00:16:35] Speaker A: It is. It is. It has a ring to it. [00:16:37] Speaker B: Yeah. It's also very evocative to go into [00:16:40] Speaker A: a comic book shop for a full length screenplay. David. [00:16:45] Speaker B: That would be wonderful. It'd be wonderful. Send it to me when you're finished. I would also. [00:16:49] Speaker A: So anyway, my comic books were in Tulsa. Comics Empire. I love you. They told me to shout them out. They're the best comics Empire. [00:16:56] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:16:57] Speaker A: The first time I didn't pick them up. After a month, they called me. I was like, yeah, I'm off tomorrow. I was going to come. They haven't called me again. And I just come in there to pick up a spawn. [00:17:06] Speaker B: Nice. [00:17:08] Speaker A: And I said, just give me all the spawn. [00:17:12] Speaker B: Nice. Excellent. We do. We do love a. We do love a. We do love a spawn. It is. It also. It is also nice. [00:17:21] Speaker A: This is a great intro. You know what's crazy is both of these are kind of great entry issues. [00:17:27] Speaker B: They are. [00:17:28] Speaker A: They really are. [00:17:29] Speaker B: They are. This. It's. It's very weird. [00:17:33] Speaker A: Okay. The whole reason I mentioned the comic stores, I feel like this is just important. Got a great cover. It's readable, it's fun. [00:17:40] Speaker B: It's. [00:17:41] Speaker A: Vals is in. Was in a special. Everything was like, 20 offer back issues. This one was a special sleeve. It's the last one left because I got it my interim. It was $5. [00:17:53] Speaker B: Oh, dang. Worth it. [00:17:54] Speaker A: Worth every p. It's a hot hand, David. We've got a hot hand. Like, it was like you hold up a snake eyes and it shoots through with pistols. 2. I drew two ones. And he just. [00:18:07] Speaker B: There would be. That would be Javi doing the shooting. Or Tobias. Sorry, Tobias. It's Tobias this week. [00:18:13] Speaker A: All right, let's go. Let's get to bias. [00:18:15] Speaker B: Yes. [00:18:15] Speaker A: So we have this great cover, and we have the credits. We got to give credits for credit is due. [00:18:20] Speaker B: Yes. [00:18:20] Speaker A: We have Shrimp Plot. And I literally, when I open it went, oh, my Todd. And like, laugh to myself. And then I. And then I was won over. [00:18:28] Speaker B: Yeah, this. [00:18:30] Speaker A: The, like, Todd McFarlane. What? Like, what did. Did he like. Was he hydrated this week? Like, what was the difference? [00:18:36] Speaker B: I. I don't know. I don't know. But he did. He did a really good job. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Art by Brett Booth, who always does a really good job, by adelsa Corona. Pages one through 18. Todd McFarlane does page 19. [00:18:53] Speaker B: Oh, that's the most important page. [00:18:55] Speaker A: David. [00:18:56] Speaker B: It's page 19. 19, the most important page. [00:19:03] Speaker A: Daniel Henriques Inc. S page 20. Colors by Robert Nugent. Lettering by Tom or Jaskowski. The Todd father. The Tom father. I'm confusing my father's. We already covered the covers. [00:19:17] Speaker B: Too many dads, too many Bs. [00:19:20] Speaker A: If you look at the covers, because this is Brett Booth. Brent Booth. [00:19:25] Speaker B: Boom. [00:19:28] Speaker A: Creative director is one. Oh, my Todd McFarlane. And editor in chief is oh my Mama Healy. Previously in Spawn, Sin's attempt to resurrect Malbolia is successful again. [00:19:45] Speaker B: I also like that we don't know who he's. He's summoning at the end of the issue. We guessed. [00:19:52] Speaker A: Now we know. [00:19:53] Speaker B: But. But it's not spelled out. So what that Means at the end of the last issue, Spawn and Blood were flying around, were torturing some angels and a guy who was playing both sides to figure out what heaven's trying to do. And then Sin's just kicking it on Omega island. And he had a little bit of goop, a little bit of necroplasmic goop, and a bone. And he had an underling touch both the goop and the bone. And then magic happened, and then that's where we cut away. [00:20:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I think so. [00:20:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:29] Speaker A: And the issue before that, and it was Sin trying to resurrect. Yeah. Right. [00:20:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, I mean, that was. That was because. Because Sin had sent some underlings. [00:20:39] Speaker A: I remember the one where they were like, let's fly. Him and Blood, like, flew out of an office building. [00:20:44] Speaker B: I think that. I think that was the last. The last one. Because they fly away. And then we cut to Omega island and Sin is trying to resurrect because. Because before that, with the. With the lion's eye and the amulet nonsense, there was. There was. [00:21:00] Speaker A: I can't. [00:21:01] Speaker B: There were the two people. [00:21:02] Speaker A: He was writing so many books. I cannot keep them straight. [00:21:04] Speaker B: There were the two people looking for a bone in a pile of. [00:21:07] Speaker A: Nice. I don't know if that was. Yeah, it's tough. [00:21:10] Speaker B: So. [00:21:11] Speaker A: But we open on a neon green page of a resurrection of a familiar visage. [00:21:17] Speaker B: Yes. And we open on the opening quote. [00:21:21] Speaker A: I felt it was appropriate. [00:21:22] Speaker B: I think it's. I think it's. I think it's beautiful. I love. He failed on every level. Then he died. [00:21:28] Speaker A: He's gonna be pissed. [00:21:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, man. This is. This is the punchiest fucking writing. [00:21:35] Speaker A: Well, that's the thing is I saw all the, like, explaining thing. That's why I said, oh, my Todd. I saw. He wrote it looked to the right. Just saw the yellow text, and I was like, oh, no. [00:21:43] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:44] Speaker A: But it was great. [00:21:44] Speaker B: But no, it's. It's wonderful. [00:21:48] Speaker A: It's amazing. Yeah. The only thing is they missed a huge opportunity and, like, we know the reason why. And, like, I'm cool. They just went with it. But it was a huge opportunity on the resurrection of Sin. [00:22:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:02] Speaker A: Because that could be a cool subplot. [00:22:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I think. [00:22:05] Speaker A: But Todd, this feels like he's starting to figure it out. It's like. Yeah, people like Omega island, they like when you connect it all and, like, make it good. Like. [00:22:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:15] Speaker A: Like that. [00:22:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. Waiting for the house and came back story. Because this is so good. [00:22:23] Speaker A: And we have this awesome two page Spread. [00:22:25] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:22:26] Speaker A: With his squidgies, his intestines. [00:22:31] Speaker B: Yeah, it's like. It's like he's. [00:22:33] Speaker A: He formed. [00:22:34] Speaker B: He formed, like, Frank at the. In Hellraiser where he's just like. [00:22:40] Speaker A: Because I was going to bed and I usually watch, like, YouTube stuff or, like, just something to, like, lull me to sleep. And I was like, I'll check out Pluto tv, the movies. And starting in. I can't remember what ended. It was some thriller movie or horror movie. In five minutes, started Hellraiser 1. And behind it was Hellraiser 2. [00:22:58] Speaker B: Oh, nice. [00:22:59] Speaker A: So I was playing splatoon Raiders on my Switch two in bed. [00:23:02] Speaker B: Nice. [00:23:03] Speaker A: And the transformation came on. I was just like, good. That's amazing. [00:23:08] Speaker B: It's so cool. I mean, like, it's. It's. I mean, it's very obvious that they just had a wax figure that they melted and run it. Ran it in reverse, but it looks so fucking good. It looks so fucking. [00:23:19] Speaker A: But then, like 45 minutes in. In Pluto TV time, which is probably what, like 35 minutes? [00:23:25] Speaker B: Something like that. [00:23:25] Speaker A: I was like, I'm actually ready to go to bed. And it started to freak me out. [00:23:31] Speaker B: It gets. It gets really freaky when Hellraiser 2 is really creepy. If you ever spend any time in the hospital at all, because that's all about Dr. Man. He's a bad doctor. He's a bad doctor. But, yeah, so we got. [00:23:44] Speaker A: Then sin screams at rise. Mount. Bullshit. It's time, my Lord, to be whole once more. [00:23:51] Speaker B: Sin seeks the same redemption like his former master that will make all who doubted him instead quiver with fear. Oh, it's so good. [00:23:59] Speaker A: This is like this mini boss behind sins. Like, yo, he can't be here. What are you doing? [00:24:04] Speaker B: Yeah, he's like, there's a treaty. The restraint of Todd McFarlane not having, like a whole fucking sidebar explaining the treaty. Wonderful. So we. We know that there's. There's a treaty apparently on Earth between Heaven and Hell. And, like, certain people obviously can't be there because Malbol's presence probably gonna be a problem. And sin is. Sin is just. Sin is just so chuffed. He is. He is like, he can't believe this worked as well as it worked. And he's just like, yeah, so plane [00:24:40] Speaker A: is coming together and then blood's up to some Lost Season four. [00:24:44] Speaker B: Yeah, we. [00:24:45] Speaker A: Oh, what opens with, like, a guy interrogated. Someone's like, where's the island? [00:24:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:49] Speaker A: Sorry. Spoiler alert. David. [00:24:52] Speaker B: Sorry. No. How dare you, Johnny. I can't watch the show anymore. Get the out of here. No. But yeah. So we cut to Blood, and he's in a room that's richly decorated with paintings and purple tap, purple curtains. And a couple of his underlings just bring in this dude who's obviously been beat up. And the, the one, the really, the one issue I had with this issue is this nine panel page that nine panels is meant to slow a story down. Right. And I don't know if slowing down this little interrogation really does us any good. [00:25:32] Speaker A: What the hell? I was fine with it. I don't care about it. [00:25:35] Speaker B: Yeah, it's fine. But then, you know, like, this guy's like, yeah, I don't know where it is. And Blood's like, I don't believe you. [00:25:41] Speaker A: And then he smashes out. [00:25:44] Speaker B: Where is it? [00:25:45] Speaker A: Where is he? [00:25:49] Speaker B: This, this, the, the interrogated individual just very quickly goes, it's in the Pacific Ocean. And then Blood gets up and he's like. And then he's like, you. I know what ocean it's in. Get the out of here, you piece of. [00:26:04] Speaker A: Can I tell you about loss without spoiling it for you, David? [00:26:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:08] Speaker A: What is about season three or four? You discover this, this seemingly magical island that these people have crash landed on has been by maybe its own force and other forces drawing people to it for centuries. And it is sought after. [00:26:25] Speaker B: All right, nice. [00:26:26] Speaker A: That's how I would describe Lost to someone. Well, like, not spoiling it, but like it's a six if it's a movie. Yeah, that's what it's about. There's an island that draws people to it for reasons or another. And you experience it in a very interesting entry point because it is something's been fought over for centuries. [00:26:51] Speaker B: So it is. It is the tower that holds the beams of the universe together. [00:26:56] Speaker A: Yes. It's very Stephen King, dude. It is. It is. [00:26:59] Speaker B: Okay. It is nice. [00:27:00] Speaker A: The island is an entity. [00:27:02] Speaker B: And if you want to get there, you just follow the 19s. [00:27:05] Speaker A: Well, you follow the 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42s. [00:27:09] Speaker B: True. [00:27:10] Speaker A: Which is a great. David, I have a theory. [00:27:12] Speaker B: Huh. [00:27:13] Speaker A: If you want to Microsoft. So the lost numbers, which I don't know if you got that far, there are numbers and loss that are like a thing. [00:27:19] Speaker B: Yeah, there's like the, there's like the [00:27:21] Speaker A: repeating numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Well, my theory is it's a great guide for microwaving something backwards. 42, 23, 16, 15, 8, 4. That's it. [00:27:44] Speaker B: But like, like you do one and then you flip and then you do the other. [00:27:48] Speaker A: No, Just if you don't know how long to mic. But, like, if I'm just like around the microwave, I do the lost numbers backwards. [00:27:54] Speaker B: Well, that's. That's pretty good. Yeah, that's nice. [00:27:57] Speaker A: You should use a good starting number on a microwave. [00:28:00] Speaker B: That's not bad. [00:28:02] Speaker A: Because the minute could be a disaster. [00:28:05] Speaker B: It could be. It could be. The minute is always either not enough or way too much. [00:28:11] Speaker A: Yes. For a minute it's like, what was this built? They're like 1987. I'm like, oh, it's as old as. Almost as old as me. [00:28:19] Speaker B: Yeah. And it. And it. And it turns. It turns the hot dog into a desiccated Slim Jim at one minute. Yes. [00:28:28] Speaker A: Also the freaks out and. But I love the Lostian, like, looking for the island. Like season four David's. They're all looking for the island. [00:28:38] Speaker B: Season four David's all looking for the island. [00:28:40] Speaker A: No, no. Season four David, comma. They're all looking for the. I'm just trying to get you to watch more loss. [00:28:46] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I have to. I set your. You know that I'm terrible at watching things. [00:28:51] Speaker A: I think once you get to season two, you'll be hooked probably. [00:28:55] Speaker B: I mean, I like it. I like it a lot. [00:28:56] Speaker A: Desmond will be one of your favorite characters. Okay. [00:28:59] Speaker B: Nice. I like the name Desmond. [00:29:03] Speaker A: Desmond Hume. [00:29:05] Speaker B: Hume. Hell, yeah. I'm gonna like this. I can tell already. I do like the restraint that the Todd father shows of just blood. Blood nodding to his underlings and then his underlings, like garroting the guy. And Todd McFarlane not saying blood gives the signal and they corrot him, [00:29:28] Speaker A: get him out of there. They don't kill him because he threatens them. He's like, I'll kill your children next time, by the way. [00:29:32] Speaker B: Yeah. And he's like, I already know. What? I already know. What. I already know what ocean it's in, motherfucker. You have two hours to tell me what I need to know. And then we cut from there to Al Simmons just fucking some people up. Just some angels. [00:29:48] Speaker A: Like, some fucking. It's like Streets of Rage. [00:29:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Some. Some heaven folk, they're just at this bar and he's just throwing them through the window. [00:29:55] Speaker A: Half Breeds. The half Breeds bar. Half Breath. Is that a song? [00:30:00] Speaker B: Yeah, it's share, but Half Breed Bar. [00:30:03] Speaker A: Is that a song? [00:30:04] Speaker B: No, no, not. No. [00:30:06] Speaker A: Also, I don't feel like I should be saying half breed. [00:30:08] Speaker B: Probably not. [00:30:10] Speaker A: We should. [00:30:10] Speaker B: Probably. [00:30:11] Speaker A: But in relation to angels. [00:30:12] Speaker B: Yes, yes, yes. [00:30:13] Speaker A: Because they all just like. They look like people that control like the. The Tow truckers unions. They look like they're a bunch of union controlling city people who are like, oh, the only reason we got this jobs, we're half Angel. You know what I mean? [00:30:26] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But these sounds like. [00:30:29] Speaker A: I usually leave him alone. [00:30:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:31] Speaker A: But tonight I'm gonna him up because I need to know something. [00:30:34] Speaker B: Yeah, he needs to know some stuff. He needs to know some stuff. And they've gotten. They've gotten soft and lazy and then [00:30:40] Speaker A: a huge reveal that's just thrown away in a page turn. [00:30:43] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. He's. [00:30:45] Speaker A: He's trying to get this advice back. [00:30:47] Speaker B: He's. He's. He's beat up all these half Angels. And then Anti Spawn is just like. [00:30:52] Speaker A: He's there. [00:30:52] Speaker B: Ah. I'm sad that it doesn't have the original Spawn logo with the. The red line through it on his belt buckle, but I'll forget. I'll forgive it. [00:31:01] Speaker A: Okay. [00:31:05] Speaker B: That's a whole. That's a whole star off, Johnny. [00:31:08] Speaker A: But he's purple. It's classic look. [00:31:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:10] Speaker A: Revised. It's not. It's definitely not Jason Nguyen. [00:31:14] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, it just like they. He literally says they resurrected him. And like they just resurrect the Anti Spawn. They didn't say who they resurrected them on. What's that? [00:31:23] Speaker A: The part in Cats when they go, who could it be? Who could it be? Because who's gonna be the Jellicle Cat? [00:31:32] Speaker B: Who? [00:31:33] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:31:33] Speaker B: Who is. [00:31:34] Speaker A: You don't know who is the Jellicle Cat? [00:31:36] Speaker B: Well, it's the. It's the old lady who sings Memory, right? [00:31:38] Speaker A: Yes. [00:31:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:39] Speaker A: What is that cat's name? They literally lectured the first 10 minutes. Lecture you on remembering a cat's fucking name. It's the first 10 minutes musical her. I'll give you a clue. Oh, that. [00:31:54] Speaker B: That. That does the opposite of hell thing. [00:31:58] Speaker A: Grizz. [00:31:59] Speaker B: Grizz. Griselda. [00:32:01] Speaker A: Grizabella. [00:32:02] Speaker B: Grizabella. Grizabella. [00:32:05] Speaker A: The climber cat. [00:32:06] Speaker B: Can I make. Can I make an admission to you right now, Johnny? I've never. I've never seen all of Cats. [00:32:11] Speaker A: Not even the PBS one? [00:32:13] Speaker B: No, my parents had the vhs. My parents had the VHS thing and I just didn't make it to the whole thing. [00:32:18] Speaker A: Go to sleep for three years. [00:32:21] Speaker B: No, I. I did like, like after the match, the. After the Master with Mr. Mistoffeles. I always stopped it after the Mistoffeles number because I like. I like Mr. Mustafa Lees. [00:32:37] Speaker A: You miss Gimbal shanks. [00:32:40] Speaker B: I missed. [00:32:41] Speaker A: Dude, what the is wrong with you? [00:32:42] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:32:43] Speaker A: I fell asleep in that movie for decades. Not really decades. Probably like, a good year. I got it for Christmas. And I got a DVD. I got an old TV they didn't need anymore that had a VHS player in it. I owned Toy Story 2 and the Phantom Menace and Cats. My Aunt Carolyn. [00:33:03] Speaker B: It was just. Just a rotation. [00:33:05] Speaker A: I fell asleep to one of those movies every night for, like, a year. [00:33:09] Speaker B: Nice. Yeah. So. So Antispawn keeps. [00:33:14] Speaker A: Keeps doing the Mega Man Beam. [00:33:16] Speaker B: He's like, yeah, but he also keeps making, like, these. These, like, koi koi references to Malbolia bring. Brought back. And he just keeps saying, like, they're bringing him back. Who's who. You're bringing him back. They're bringing him back. And he never just, like, comes out and says. Says Malbolia is back because he thinks that Spawn was responsible for. For. For bringing about Bolshev back. And then he's like, oh, wait, you don't even know. [00:33:46] Speaker A: Do you know? [00:33:47] Speaker B: Do you? Yeah. What? Master? I love. I love just, like, the simple head tilt that Brett Booth gifts that. It's just like. Oh, like. Like, you can feel that. Anti Spawn feels, like, kind of bad for Spawn for not knowing that Malbolgia is back. [00:34:07] Speaker A: I gotta say, I love the purple cake. It pops. [00:34:10] Speaker B: It's so purple. [00:34:12] Speaker A: I love. David, Purple is my favorite color. [00:34:14] Speaker B: Purple's a. Purple's a massively. Massively underrated color. [00:34:19] Speaker A: Is it? [00:34:19] Speaker B: I feel. I feel like a lot of people. [00:34:21] Speaker A: Your glasses are purple. [00:34:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Purple is awesome. I feel like a lot of people are just like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:34:28] Speaker A: Hands down. [00:34:29] Speaker B: It's. [00:34:29] Speaker A: It's Barney, like, thinking like Barney and, like, babies, like, no, yeah, purple. [00:34:34] Speaker B: Purple's a good color. [00:34:35] Speaker A: It's the best color. [00:34:36] Speaker B: Yeah. One of the best colors. It's not green. [00:34:40] Speaker A: Purple and black. [00:34:40] Speaker B: Purple and green. [00:34:42] Speaker A: Purple and black. Green's the number. Top five. Green's the top five. Name your top five favorite colors, David. [00:34:48] Speaker B: Green. [00:34:48] Speaker A: Blue. [00:34:49] Speaker B: Purple. [00:34:49] Speaker A: You got it. [00:34:50] Speaker B: Green, Blue, Purple. Green. [00:34:53] Speaker A: Blue, Purple. [00:34:54] Speaker B: Fuck. I don't really like the warm colors as much. [00:35:00] Speaker A: Okay. What else he had? [00:35:02] Speaker B: I mean, I think I just have the three. Green, blue, and purple. [00:35:05] Speaker A: I love green top. If I'm going from bottom to top. Favorite colors. Oh, I'm just. Okay. No, I'm just gonna go. It's purple's number one, Black's number two, green's number three, yellow's number four, and the rest can all suck my grits. They can all eat my grits. [00:35:28] Speaker B: Nice. I like how we both got to the same conclusion all the other four favorite colors. Nice. [00:35:36] Speaker A: Green, purple, black, Yellow. [00:35:39] Speaker B: Nice. [00:35:40] Speaker A: Orange. Orange. Okay, orange. All right, I got five. [00:35:44] Speaker B: Orange and black. Johnny, how could you forget [00:35:48] Speaker A: six? I got six. And blue. [00:35:51] Speaker B: How many colors are there? That's how many favorite colors Johnny has. I like colors. Colors are good. Much like condiments. Every color has its place. But don't forget, Johnny, the. The color purple. The fact that the color purple exists means that there is beauty in the world if only you know, to look for it. Which is a bastardized summation of the color purple. [00:36:19] Speaker A: Great book. [00:36:19] Speaker B: It's a great book. I fucking love it. [00:36:22] Speaker A: I read it. [00:36:23] Speaker B: Speaking of books that we read, we cut from. [00:36:26] Speaker A: And the color purple. [00:36:29] Speaker B: We cut from. [00:36:31] Speaker A: What are you talking about? Who's back? [00:36:32] Speaker B: Ye. He just keeps saying him and his like along for what? For his resurrection. Then we. Then we cut to Sin just sitting on his chair, just being like, hey, [00:36:44] Speaker A: we're sitting on Malbolia's throne with baby forming Malbol. [00:36:49] Speaker B: Is. Is that Malbol? Did they. They move Mal. Sin. Because Nick. Nick is sitting on. [00:36:54] Speaker A: Something's wrong. [00:36:54] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:36:55] Speaker A: Oh my God. This is. [00:36:56] Speaker B: This is just. This is just Sin's big chair on Omega island. And he's just like, yes, I have Malposia here, my Bolshevik. Yes, yes. He says, you're moving good. That means the spell is working. [00:37:08] Speaker A: So my number two choice. He didn't like me doing the long Malbol speech at the beginning for opening quote. This episode was, you brought me back. Why am I the size of a human? [00:37:19] Speaker B: A human? Yeah. And so the. [00:37:22] Speaker A: But he looks like a Greek statue. [00:37:24] Speaker B: He does. Oh, man, he is cut. He's. He's not got his like. I mean, his. His belly still sticks out a little bit. [00:37:29] Speaker A: Is there gonna be a spawn like Ray? Maybe Mount B's grandson? But where does his genital come from? Because he's smooth as butter down there. [00:37:40] Speaker B: Johnny. It's all. It's all necroplasm to me. [00:37:44] Speaker A: It's all necroplasm. That's the first thing I thought of. It's like, why is he a Barbie doll? Why is he a Ken doll? [00:37:51] Speaker B: Yeah, but I mean he's always. He's always been. He's always been smooth. He's always been smooth. [00:37:56] Speaker A: Always. It's true. Does Malbolia fuck is the question. Maybe. [00:38:02] Speaker B: Johnny. [00:38:02] Speaker A: Perhaps. Does he? [00:38:03] Speaker B: David? Perhaps that is like the great cruelty of him being this arc. [00:38:09] Speaker A: He's like, I cannot. I have no penis. I cannot have sex vagina. That he is so sexual organ of any kind. [00:38:15] Speaker B: He is so built he's got that wonderful hair and he can't. He can't go cruising to try to. Maybe it's like a cruel line. Irony. Johnny, [00:38:29] Speaker A: What if they had like, Malbol's just like, cloned granddaughter, like, obviously. And that sucks because I love Ray. Like, Ray's like top 10 Star Wars. [00:38:41] Speaker B: She's awesome. But yeah, that. That shoehorn. That shoehorning was rough. Real rough. [00:38:46] Speaker A: You know, the canon explanation, like, outside [00:38:50] Speaker B: of the movies, like, is there. [00:38:52] Speaker A: Is it in books? Like, oh, like, it doesn't. It explains the movies, basically. [00:38:57] Speaker B: And I haven't. I haven't read them. [00:38:58] Speaker A: She was Palpatine's granddaughter. Yes. [00:39:00] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:39:01] Speaker A: So what happened was on Exegol, the secret planet where he was Hellraiser. This you love to mention. [00:39:08] Speaker B: He's a. [00:39:09] Speaker A: He's literally the cinema from Hellraiser 2 visual. Hey, JJ. He's got a. JJ's got good eyes. Visuals. [00:39:17] Speaker B: He sure does. [00:39:19] Speaker A: So the canon story they explained in a book is her father's name is Dathan and he is a force inert clone of Palpatine that, like, Palpatine refused to, like, have killed because he, liked. He thought he was funny or something. So let him run around the labs and one day he, like, got smart and escaped. Had a daughter with a random woman he helped escape. There was like a worker there or slave there, and they had. [00:39:48] Speaker B: Nice. [00:39:48] Speaker A: Would have been nice to see in the movie. [00:39:50] Speaker B: So. So basically Papa Palpatine made himself a bone Mara Chimera. [00:39:56] Speaker A: He. Well, they were trying to clone like. Like Snoke in canon is like, they cloned Palpatine one time with some other or whatever. And it created this like, force mass, like, kind of thing. Like. And like, that's what Snow Kid. It's. Dude, it's so funny. [00:40:15] Speaker B: Interesting. Interesting, huh? That's exciting. [00:40:20] Speaker A: Is it? [00:40:22] Speaker B: I think so. It's. It's a Star Wars. It's a war in the stars, Johnny. Of course it's exciting, [00:40:28] Speaker A: but, like, yo, what? There's a treaty. [00:40:31] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. And. And Sin's just like, yeah, don't worry about it. We're on Earth. We've got. We've got some. We've got some stuff to deal with before we get to your throne. We have Al Simmons to worry about. Like, he's alive. [00:40:46] Speaker A: What? And then like, Swan comes into blood. Who's in, like, a cool purple curtained library. [00:40:53] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Have you heard there's a rumor in St. Petersburg. Have you heard Anastasia is also very good? Anastasia. [00:41:08] Speaker A: Okay. [00:41:08] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. [00:41:11] Speaker A: I know you love Anastasia. [00:41:13] Speaker B: It's, it's good. It's good. I love. Yeah. [00:41:16] Speaker A: I have not heard, I've not heard it in a long time. [00:41:18] Speaker B: Well, I like, I like how immediately [00:41:21] Speaker A: is that the library? [00:41:24] Speaker B: I saw that one in theaters, so. [00:41:27] Speaker A: Really? [00:41:27] Speaker B: Yeah, it might have been, it might have been at the library later, but I definitely saw that one. But I like how, how immediately after Spawn's like, have you heard? And Blood's like, yes. They're just like superhero pose to nobody. And they're just like, we're gonna do this. [00:41:49] Speaker A: All right. If you're gonna bring up crazy gothic, weird historical musicals. I saw a news article today and I clicked on it because I was like, what? And it's real. Frank Wildhorn, who was the, he was the composer and like half of the lyricists with Leslie Racuse on Jekyll and Hyde and Scarlet Pimpernel, he wrote the Death Note musical that's premiering in London. A musical, American English language musical adaptation of the anime Death Note. [00:42:20] Speaker B: So, so that's gonna be, that's gonna be awesome. That's gonna be like your third favorite musical then. Yes. [00:42:26] Speaker A: Dude. Jekyll and Hyde. Are we talking? Okay. Okay. This shoe is great. The spawn meter is 4714. There's no spawning grounds. [00:42:36] Speaker B: No spawning grounds. Just the classics. Need more sponsor universe. Johnny. Yes. Don't give us these ongoing titles. We got the Fallout Toys, Call of Duty, Spawn. [00:42:46] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:42:46] Speaker B: That's. That's Spawn. 372 [00:42:51] Speaker A: David. [00:42:52] Speaker B: Yes. [00:42:53] Speaker A: Think about it. Jekyll and Hyde. We just, we're discovering this together. I didn't realize you like Jekyll and Hyde until like a few months ago. [00:43:03] Speaker B: Yeah, it's great. [00:43:05] Speaker A: It's amazing. [00:43:06] Speaker B: It's so good. [00:43:08] Speaker A: I'm glad you listened to the original cast recording. [00:43:12] Speaker B: I, I, I'm liking the, I like the concept album so much more than the musical. [00:43:17] Speaker A: Dude, that Board of Governor songs. [00:43:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:20] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:43:21] Speaker B: So good. [00:43:22] Speaker A: Dr. Chiku, like, it's so good, man. But he wrote the Death Note musical. [00:43:29] Speaker B: So nice. So we'll have to. We'll have to. [00:43:32] Speaker A: I think the Spawn musical can happen in our lifetimes. If we really. [00:43:36] Speaker B: The China. If you write it. If you write it and submit it to TMP Productions and say, do you I have your blessing to mount? [00:43:42] Speaker A: You know, they like, got a. There was like, they announced Tim Burton was going to direct the original Broadway show off a Jim Steinman, like the Meatloaf guy Batman musical. [00:43:54] Speaker B: That would have been awesome. [00:43:54] Speaker A: Demos have leaked online, like in, I remember, downloading them on aol, but it was like based off his movie. And it was like they had a song called where does he get those Wonderful Toys? The song was like, I know Chicago had all that meat and no, Detroit had all them feet. But where'd he get them wonderful toys? [00:44:18] Speaker B: That's wonderful, Johnny. I don't remember if it's you or somebody else that told me this, but the implements in Tim Burton's Batman, when the Joker becomes the Joker and he's like, but look at the tools. I have to work with those. Those tool props in that scene were the actual dentist's tools from the original Little Shop of Horrors. That was. [00:44:45] Speaker A: They're from the 80s one. [00:44:46] Speaker B: They were from the 80s one. Okay. I thought they were from the original. [00:44:49] Speaker A: Original, the same studio. And they're just like, let's spray paint these. [00:44:53] Speaker B: Okay. That's still funny, though. Nice little connection. Jack Nicholson. That's his name. Jack Nicholson's first. First film role. [00:45:02] Speaker A: And this is Todd McFarlane's first great comic book in a while. [00:45:07] Speaker B: In a while. [00:45:08] Speaker A: And we'll be right back. Next up we have Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger. [00:45:22] Speaker B: Quite deadly. Quite dead. Lots of death in this. Many deaths. [00:45:26] Speaker A: Yeah. David, do you feel equipped to talk about this issue? Two white men. [00:45:32] Speaker B: I don't know if I do. Well, certain parts. The bar room scene. Yes, unequivocally. It's good. It's a good fucking book. We. We gotta start. We gotta start with the covers before we get there, though. [00:45:46] Speaker A: Johnny, as always, I have the A cover. [00:45:50] Speaker B: Demarco Falier cover. [00:45:52] Speaker A: Yes. [00:45:53] Speaker B: It kind of looks like the gunslinger has chopped a tree in half. But the tree is like a demon face. [00:46:00] Speaker A: Yes. [00:46:01] Speaker B: It's very cool. [00:46:03] Speaker A: It's like he's in the pre selection of the holidays in Halloween Town. [00:46:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:46:09] Speaker A: And he slit the Halloween town in half. [00:46:12] Speaker B: Yeah, that's exactly what it looks like. And I got the B cover, the Francesco Mattina cover. And it's gunslinger spawn on top of a pile of skulls all in front of your face. [00:46:24] Speaker A: Yes. Oh, that's amazing. Yeah. [00:46:26] Speaker B: Gunslinger spawn. Pile of skulls, fog, dead trees, wolves. [00:46:32] Speaker A: He's got his animal sidekicks. [00:46:33] Speaker B: Yeah. And he's smoking himself a cigarette. [00:46:36] Speaker A: Hey, who could disagree? [00:46:39] Speaker B: Look at. Look at that. Look at that little cigarette you got there. Francesco Mattina does a good cover. Marco Falio does a good cover. Two good covers. [00:46:46] Speaker A: Smoker. David. [00:46:47] Speaker B: Do I what? [00:46:48] Speaker A: Do you ever buy cigarettes and smoke them at your leisure? [00:46:52] Speaker B: No, I. I smoke a pipe every once in a while. Does that count? [00:46:55] Speaker A: Did you ever walk by a Cigarette smoker be like, that smells good sometimes. [00:47:03] Speaker B: No, I think. I think very little secondhand smoke actually smells very good. Because, like, occasionally I would like a cigar, but if I walk by somebody smoking a cigar, I am like, jesus, [00:47:15] Speaker A: I don't want a cigar. [00:47:16] Speaker B: Dude. Go there. Go the hell away from here. [00:47:19] Speaker A: No, no, you don't want that. You're right. I just made myself sick thinking about it. But sometimes if you're sweaty, you're working hard. Yeah, you want a cigarette. [00:47:32] Speaker B: I can see that. [00:47:33] Speaker A: Just to look like the Ghostbusters. [00:47:41] Speaker B: There is no Dana, only Zulu, only Zul. [00:47:44] Speaker A: Oh, Zuli. [00:47:47] Speaker B: So we gotta. We gotta, we gotta. We gotta open these. Pop open these covers. Johnny, give credit where credit is due. We got script plot by Jimmy Palmiotti, got art by Patrick Reynolds, colors by Louis nct, lettering by Tom. Is a Tom or Zikowski. [00:48:06] Speaker A: Get it right or pay the price. [00:48:08] Speaker B: Yeah. Because as. As we remember from the conversation we had with him at C2E2, his wife likes that gunslinger. So he does all the gunslingers. [00:48:18] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:48:20] Speaker B: We covered the covers. [00:48:21] Speaker A: I'll also never forget the moment we were like. We signed this thing and we were talking about Sam and Twitch stuff. Well, we went to Sam and Twitch and we showed him our. We, like. [00:48:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:32] Speaker A: Told him that, like, spread out. He was like. He, like, had, like, a glass in his eye and almost cried and was like, you are saving twins. Do you remember that? [00:48:40] Speaker B: I do remember that. [00:48:41] Speaker A: It was crazy. It was awesome. He, like. He, like, changed tone. He's like, you are saving. [00:48:49] Speaker B: It was so much because, like, that was the first moment. That was the first moment I feel like he actually paid attention to us instead of just like. Because, I mean, you know, he was. He was doing some work, and then he stopped his work and he looked at us. Creative director is Todd McFarlane and the editor in chief is Thomas Healing. Previously in Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger. Gunslinger and company discover a monstrous secret buried deep inside the mine's hollow tunnels. Secrets that must never see the light of day. Yeah. Yeah. Because there's scary monsters down there. [00:49:23] Speaker A: Yeah. It was crazy. [00:49:24] Speaker B: It's mutated. Mutated people and beasts. And the longer you stay down there and drink the water, the contaminated water, the more beastly you become. [00:49:36] Speaker A: I didn't want to think about that. [00:49:38] Speaker B: It was. It was up. It was up. It was real up. You think. You think black lung's the worst thing you're gonna get in a mineshaft? Oh, no, no, no, no. You could turn into a monster. [00:49:47] Speaker A: I believe it. [00:49:49] Speaker B: Yeah. I recently learned about these things called kettle bottoms, which in certain. Mine tunnels or coal. Coal shafts. Coal mining shaft tunnels. It's the bits of the layer that used to be tree. So it's just like fossilized. They're petrified wood. And since they're. They're round and trees are separate from the rest of the sediment that became sort of the coke that they're mining out that they have a tendency to just, like, fall at random. And so you could just be a miner in a shaft digging for some coal and this old piece of tree what could just, like, fall and smash you. And that's frightening. Could you imagine being at work and just part of your work is, you're probably gonna die today. This is the. This is the beginning of a new arc because the end of the last arc is Gunslinger. [00:50:45] Speaker A: It's a culmination of, like, kind of their whole. It's. It's amazing. [00:50:48] Speaker B: Yeah. But like. [00:50:50] Speaker A: But it's a great. [00:50:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:50:52] Speaker A: Continuation. Yeah. It's like a new season. [00:50:56] Speaker B: Gunslinger and Ziania and the old army dude. Zanya. I can't remember the old army dude's name, but they. They saved. They saved some children in the town from the mines. And then they were like, okay, well, I guess we should go our separate ways. And then they're all like, actually, why don't we just. Just team up together and. And do stuff. Yeah. So this one is titled the Grand Illusion. [00:51:23] Speaker A: You know, it's crazy to think about children and minds. Indiana Jones. And it kind of makes sense. He experienced all of Temple of Doom before Raiders. The Lost Ark. [00:51:34] Speaker B: Damn. [00:51:34] Speaker A: It's a prequel, baby. [00:51:37] Speaker B: That's a lot. Jacques. Why is there a. Why is there a snake in this plane? But, like, oh, that's just my prep. [00:51:44] Speaker A: No wonder he's like. He's definitely God. Because he went to a village and they were like, he saw the power of the Snarker Stones. [00:51:55] Speaker B: I mean, he was also a good Catholic boy. Johnny. So you can't. He's good. He's a good Catholic boy. [00:52:01] Speaker A: You love that one. I bet. [00:52:04] Speaker B: It is my favorite. [00:52:05] Speaker A: Yeah, it's my least favorite. It not. Okay. Out of the five, I would rank them Raiders. Temple of Doom. Last Crusade. [00:52:20] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. Middle of the pack. [00:52:24] Speaker A: Dustin. Crystal Skull. What's your rating? [00:52:30] Speaker B: So it's definitely gonna be Last Crusade Raiders. [00:52:33] Speaker A: Of course. [00:52:34] Speaker B: Temple of Doom, probably. Then Dial of Destiny and Crystal Skull and. [00:52:40] Speaker A: I don't hate Crystal Skull. [00:52:42] Speaker B: I don't hate Crystal Skull. [00:52:44] Speaker A: It's not terrible. [00:52:45] Speaker B: It's. I mean, it's goofy. It makes Very little sense, but it's, it's fun as hell. I, I, the thing I don't like about it most is the thing. [00:52:56] Speaker A: No, I think it makes too much. I think Todd McFarlane's out. They explain too much. Yeah, the, because like, you know how the, the pre credit sequence or whatever, the, the opening theme within the end of Jones usually has very little. Or it's just a kickoff to do with the story. It's like the end of another adventure. This one starts with him introducing Gwyneth, not Gwen's Paltrow. God damn it, what's her name. Taking him to Area 51. Introducing the alien. So like the pre credits type thing is like pretty, like kind of breaks tradition where it's like, it should be something kind of like background or like a different adventure. [00:53:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Also, I don't give a about Mutt. [00:53:43] Speaker A: He's good in the first part. [00:53:45] Speaker B: Indiana, Indiana Jones is a bad dad. I don't want, I don't want to, I don't want him having children. [00:53:51] Speaker A: That's one of the best lines that movies when he goes, what are you, like 80? That's one of the best lines in the movie. Yeah. [00:54:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I do like that. [00:54:04] Speaker A: Love Mary Ocean's eleven trilogy is when he said there was someone calls Danny Ocean like 50 and he says, Ocean's 12. And he sit there with Brad Pitt and George Clinton was like, do you think I'm 50? [00:54:22] Speaker B: Oh, George. [00:54:23] Speaker A: I love jokes about like, age like that. Like it's, I thought that was an amazing line. What are you, like 80? [00:54:31] Speaker B: But now we have to get serious, Johnny. [00:54:33] Speaker A: Oh, God. Oh. [00:54:35] Speaker B: Take a deep breath. We got it. We got to get into it. It can't, it can't all be fun and games. Sometimes we have to talk about serious. So this issue starts with Tobias looking up at a hung individual hanging from the tree. And we turn the page and we notice it is not just one individual, the family. It's men, women and children. And Zianya is fucking pissed. [00:55:08] Speaker A: She says, a lot of women and [00:55:09] Speaker B: children, these are the Ute people. And they were taken by surprise because they were not dressed for attack. And Tobias is just like, lane did this and he sended a message to everybody. It's a pretty clear message. Boy, I would not want to come across that in any way, shape or form. Johnny. No, it's real fucked up. Real fucked up. [00:55:39] Speaker A: Can you imagine? [00:55:41] Speaker B: Well, just like you're on a hike and then you come across trees just filled with bodies. No, I couldn't imagine. [00:55:49] Speaker A: No, I got freaked out by Blair Witch Project. That's just trees. Full of parts of trees. [00:55:53] Speaker B: Yeah, true. I couldn't imagine. So. [00:55:59] Speaker A: But can you. What would you do if you were on, like, a deep hike in the woods and you came across. [00:56:05] Speaker B: So. [00:56:06] Speaker A: So let's style stick figure. Like. Like big. [00:56:09] Speaker B: Okay. [00:56:09] Speaker A: The big one. You know what I'm talking about. The big one. They show, like, spinning around. [00:56:12] Speaker B: I would be spooked. [00:56:14] Speaker A: You would be spooked. I would be sad. [00:56:17] Speaker B: I don't know what else I would do. I would probably try to get away from there very quickly. [00:56:20] Speaker A: I give away from that property as fast as I could. [00:56:22] Speaker B: I thought. I thought you were gonna ask me if I went to that one forest in Japan and came across a body, what would I do? Oh, yeah, I'm. [00:56:31] Speaker A: I'm not going there. [00:56:32] Speaker B: No, no. There's. There's only so much tempting of fate that you are that a reasonable person should do. And you do not go to where the ghosts are. Definitely. No. You stay away from the haunted places. There's a reason the places are haunted. They are not for you. Therefore, the spirits that haunt. Just don't fucking go there. [00:56:53] Speaker A: Leave me alone. [00:56:53] Speaker B: That's like. [00:56:54] Speaker A: But you gotta leave me alone. [00:56:56] Speaker B: Yeah, that's like. That's like. If somebody comes over to your house and just comes in without knowing, I'll [00:57:02] Speaker A: make a textual in the podcast. Now I see my dad's house. The back half. The back half of his house is haunted. [00:57:10] Speaker B: It's weird. It's weird that it's just the back half, but at my grandmother's house, it was the basement and one room upstairs. [00:57:19] Speaker A: Once you've passed a certain bathroom. It's haunted. [00:57:21] Speaker B: Yeah, there's. [00:57:22] Speaker A: It's a God Almighty. [00:57:25] Speaker B: It's one of Christ. It's so weird how there are, like, pockets of safety in haunted houses, but they're, like, not continuous. [00:57:33] Speaker A: I've always had bad dreams. [00:57:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:36] Speaker A: There, like, intense. [00:57:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:37] Speaker A: Bad dream. [00:57:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:39] Speaker A: And I talked in spirit when I was there last time, and like, some weird shit happened one time after I talked to it with, like, a shed, like, banged and like, I don't know. But like, I set my boundaries and it left me alone. [00:57:52] Speaker B: Good for you. Setting boundaries. [00:57:54] Speaker A: But I don't sleep in the back room there. [00:57:56] Speaker B: Nice. [00:57:57] Speaker A: I don't. [00:57:58] Speaker B: The. The pre. I don't know if. Do I want to call it a spirit or a ghost? Let's just say the ghost, because that's the closest thing. The ghost at my grandmother's house wasn't about to listen to anybody. So you could set all the boundaries you wanted, and it wasn't gonna listen. [00:58:13] Speaker A: I think it was just happy I acknowledged it because my dad and my stepmom probably just like that, towels or. I don't know what he does, but, like, there's something going on back there, David. [00:58:24] Speaker B: Yeah, it's up. It's wild. Oh, no, no, don't. Don't. Don't do it. Don't engage. [00:58:33] Speaker A: I don't know if the previous owner, homeowner killed their spouse and, like, shove them under the deck. [00:58:38] Speaker B: I don't know how much, how much? How much. Did you. Did you hear a telltale heartbeat, Johnny? Just a faint. Just a faint. They got louder as the night progressed. [00:58:56] Speaker A: So you just be spooked. So you saw the Blair Witch thing. You just be like, I'm spooked. That's it. You wouldn't, like, leave. You have no gps. You have no tax. You have nothing. [00:59:08] Speaker B: I would. I would very likely try to find my way out of there, but I have a feeling. I have a feeling that if I came across that I would already know that I was so lost that I would probably just be like, fucking. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? Do I just sit here? Do I walk that way and hope I don't walk around in a circle? Do I walk this other way and hope that I don't just get further into the layer? Like, what are you supposed to do? Just wait till morning? [00:59:34] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:59:35] Speaker B: It would freak the hell out of me. Johnny. [00:59:38] Speaker A: The movie's freaky. [00:59:39] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, it's fucked up. It's a real fucked up movie. It's good. It's good. Yeah. Zhania says, we must bury these people. And she. She's got, like, an endless energy to make sure that it is done. Because the. The captain. The captain's like, oh, boy, I am. I'm tired. And she's still going at it. Tobias says that she's been through hell, come out stronger for it. I'm to blame for some of that. And then the other guy's like, nah, Captain Lane does that to basically everybody. You are. Don't. Don't blame yourself for the shit he's done. Tobias is like, word? And it's like, yeah, no, I'll tell you later. I'm gonna take a nap. What is this guy's name? I keep forgetting his name. [01:00:27] Speaker A: The crew finishes the holes. [01:00:29] Speaker B: Yeah, so. So Xianya's, you know, being very present. Attention given to each other, Individual victim as she buries them and then a mountain lion comes by, and mountain lion tends to be seen as a spirit or a spirit guide. [01:00:50] Speaker A: This is my favorite part of the issue. [01:00:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:52] Speaker A: She's like, this is a sign of. [01:00:54] Speaker B: Yeah. And she's. She's like. [01:00:57] Speaker A: She's like, it's a sign of protection. [01:00:59] Speaker B: Yeah. But she's like, I've been around white people so long that I'm starting to see it as a threat. And she's like, ah. And then Tobias just comes up and is like, cat, get the out of here. [01:01:09] Speaker A: Of course he does. [01:01:10] Speaker B: Yeah. So. So then Tobias. Tobias helps Yanya finish the. The burials, and she's like, you know, there's no young men among any of these bodies, which means they're probably out hunting, which means when they come back, they're gonna be pissed, which means we need to finish this and get the hell out of here. [01:01:33] Speaker A: And they do. And this is the moment where I thought of Phone Tomahawk and Forward to Men Ride out the end credit song of that movie that she always referenced on this podcast, which Thomas Healey pitched this to me as swung con as. Do you know who sings that? David? [01:01:53] Speaker B: No, who sings it? [01:01:55] Speaker A: That's Craig Solar. [01:01:56] Speaker B: Oh, nice. So. And Tobias is like. Like, he recognizes that they're going from one terrible situation right into another terrible situation. So they're kind of. No matter what happens. Then they get to Vulgate, Utah, and Tobias says, if Landon has been. Are down there, we gotta kill him. [01:02:16] Speaker A: It's like a bustling. Like, it looks like an Ewok village. [01:02:19] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a bustling. A little berg, and it's kind of [01:02:23] Speaker A: a Star Warsian shot. When you see, like, a little village over the shoulder of a character. I love that. [01:02:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:30] Speaker A: The lights and, like, the activity. You kind of hear it almost. [01:02:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:33] Speaker A: This book was. This issue is amazing. [01:02:35] Speaker B: It's so good. [01:02:37] Speaker A: And then we get such a great, grand story. [01:02:39] Speaker B: And then we basically get the saloon scene that is being filmed in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. So. So we've got a saloon going on, and then the sheriff and a deputy walk in, and the deputy is like, [01:02:52] Speaker A: sheriff, should we be here? [01:02:53] Speaker B: The sheriff's like. Like, these people need to remember who the law is. And then immediately get shot in the head. [01:02:59] Speaker A: Yeah, this is straight Tarantino. Yeah, that's what I thought immediately. [01:03:03] Speaker B: And we see that he gets. I like that. Like. Like he just lit a cigarette, and the bullet that shoots him in the head, like, cuts the cigarette in half, and it's like, what a waste of a cigarette. And we see that the guy who shot the sheriff is drunk. Is a skunk. Holy. This. Looking at this guy makes my eyes hurt. [01:03:26] Speaker A: Yeah, he reminds me of someone. It's not an insult. I hope he listens. This episode feels happy. He reminds me of a character that past and future guest Thomas Hunt should play. [01:03:40] Speaker B: No. Yeah, yeah. [01:03:43] Speaker A: He's like a blonde. Yeah. [01:03:47] Speaker B: Who's. Who's got just like the silliest, like, goofiest faces he makes. You can tell there's a lot of chaotic energy here. [01:03:54] Speaker A: That. [01:03:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:55] Speaker A: He's on. Oh, well, we find out later. He's probably on a lot of opium, David. [01:03:59] Speaker B: Yeah, probably in a couple of pages. [01:04:02] Speaker A: We're about to find that out. [01:04:03] Speaker B: But so the deputy is like, holy. You just. You just put your hands up. I'm gonna arrest you. You just shot this half in cold blood. And he's like, you sure about that? You sure? [01:04:14] Speaker A: Shoot him. And then snip. [01:04:16] Speaker B: Yeah. So the deputy and this guy who shot the sheriff got their pistols pointed at each other. And then we see like a close up of the tips of the barrels right next to each other. And then a little knife just slides in and Tobias says, lane. Where is Lane? This. This. This up. Dude, just like, what the are you wearing? Who are you supposed to be? [01:04:44] Speaker A: Are you supposed to be wearing that? I love the. What was the turn of phrase? [01:04:47] Speaker B: Is it. What are you supposed to be? [01:04:49] Speaker A: Supposed to be. What are you supposed to be dressed like that? That's amazing. [01:04:53] Speaker B: And then so Tobias is like the la. I'll be. I'm the last thing you'll see if you don't answer me. And he's like, is that so? And then, you know, cuts his finger off. [01:05:03] Speaker A: He cuts. [01:05:03] Speaker B: He cuts. He cuts his trigger finger off. He cuts his ear off. He stabs him in the back and twists the knife around. And then, you know, and then, you know, he's like, tell me where Lane is. And he says, go to hell. And so Tobias just like chains him up and drags him around. And so it's all these. All of these men versus the deputy and Tobias and Zianya dude, man, whose name I can't remember. Oh, yeah. Like, Ziannia shoots this guy's jaw. Oh, it's wild. [01:05:40] Speaker A: And then we get the great, like, Jabbas, I love. Got this. This issue is so good. Yeah. Because they run. So I tell him it's like they're killing everyone at the bar. And he runs the opium den. Like Jabba's powers. [01:05:51] Speaker B: Yeah. And it's like cosby there's guys with guns, they're shooting people, they're killing everybody. And the guy. Cosby's. Cosby's just like. So we were hired for a job. We did a job. Those aren't our anymore. They paid us someone. Let's just. Let's just smoke all this opium that's here. [01:06:11] Speaker A: There's a knife on the messenger. [01:06:15] Speaker B: No, that's not the messenger. That's. That's the. That's the army man who's part of Tobias's group. The guy whose name I can't remember. What, the drunk man? He's the drunkards. Yeah, but he's. He like. He. He followed this guy and he's just like peering in through the window and then a knife gets held to his throat. Yeah. And then we see. We see it is one of the returned ute. Ute hunters. And he's just like. And then he goes, he goes into the tent and this guy is just watching wide eyed and it's just like. So we can only imagine the brutality and the. These guys up that's going on in there. [01:06:56] Speaker A: This also reminded me of Escrow Exalter because the device in race the broken land where they have. What's his name? Eagle eyes who eats the eyes of the birds. [01:07:10] Speaker B: I don't remember his name. Johnny, don't ask me to remember her name, please. [01:07:14] Speaker A: Never mind. [01:07:19] Speaker B: So. So this, this, this warrior fucks these guys up and then we cut to many miles away where there's just a whole village on fire. And it's Lane and a couple of his dragoons and he's got like a holy. He's a holy fucking roller. He's a piece of. He's a goddamn manifest destiny piece of. And then he's like well for these we should let them in, have some fun with them and then you know, gut them. The three that are left alive from the village. Ugh. [01:07:56] Speaker A: He's looking like a devil. [01:07:58] Speaker B: He's looking like a big old devil. And then we see next Hide it deep. And then we get the gunslinger skull day in the issue. [01:08:08] Speaker A: It's not over yet, David. [01:08:10] Speaker B: Why is that? [01:08:10] Speaker A: We have the new generation, new stories, new you AD. [01:08:13] Speaker B: Oh yeah, we do. Look at that. Hey look, we've covered a couple of those. We've covered one of those. [01:08:19] Speaker A: That's the image classics ad. [01:08:23] Speaker B: Then the Call of Duty spawn AD and then a new toy AD Johnny on the back here. Mortal Kombat classic. [01:08:29] Speaker A: I would love the Scorpion. The sub zero of the Raiden. I would take that figure as a Gift. I'd be happy. [01:08:36] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah. That scorpion is awesome. Oh, man. Lady, lady with her. Lady with her no mask. Scary. Choose your fighter. [01:08:54] Speaker A: The Mortal Kombat test your might. [01:08:56] Speaker B: So good. [01:09:01] Speaker A: Okay. The song's amazing. [01:09:12] Speaker B: Oh, it's so good. [01:09:14] Speaker A: Why are you invoking that? To get me all hyped up. [01:09:16] Speaker B: So. I'm only invoking it because we got the Mortal Kombat classic ad, Johnny. So tusty. [01:09:22] Speaker A: What are you getting me hyped up to do? [01:09:24] Speaker B: They should. They should totally. They should totally make a toasty man for the next series. [01:09:30] Speaker A: Okay, so the new ending is I say Foghorn Leghorn and then I said, I do. I do declare. And then he goes toasty. And that's what happens. [01:09:39] Speaker B: Okay. [01:09:40] Speaker A: And I will introduce it, I'll edit it, I'll make a sound clip for you. But that's. [01:09:43] Speaker B: Hell yeah. That sounds awesome. Well, Johnny, that's. That's. That's Deadly Tales of the gunslinger 13. Why is that? Because, David, you like toast. Because you've just done 10 uppercuts in a row. Oh, helly holy. [01:09:56] Speaker A: Because I want to give us a toasty rating. [01:09:59] Speaker B: Toasty rating. Yes. So we should probably. Johnny, I have had very good puppies this week, even though this one is still eating my fingers. So I think it is time for us. Yeah, he's. [01:10:10] Speaker A: He's still. [01:10:10] Speaker B: Look at this guy. He's still doing his nonsense. I think it's time we rate these puppies, Johnny. [01:10:16] Speaker A: It's time to rate the puppies. First up, we spawn 2. [01:10:22] Speaker B: 3. [01:10:23] Speaker A: 72. I almost said 272. [01:10:27] Speaker B: Oh man, that would have been insane. [01:10:34] Speaker A: 272. David. I. Like I said. I opened it said open my. Todd to myself. I saw your road and I saw the text, but I had a blast with it. [01:10:43] Speaker B: So funny. [01:10:43] Speaker A: The best thing he's written since like around spawn. 300 ish. [01:10:48] Speaker B: It's. It's. It's exceptional. It's very good. [01:10:53] Speaker A: The art is amazing. The purples, the storytelling, the Spawn, the history, the fucking. [01:11:00] Speaker B: The fucking malbol. [01:11:02] Speaker A: I don't know how to do, but give it a 5 out of 5 out of 5. Human sized. [01:11:12] Speaker B: Hell yeah. That's very good. Oh, man. Yeah. This is like. This was worth waiting through the garbage of those three months though. It was just the same issue. [01:11:26] Speaker A: Where you been, Todd? [01:11:28] Speaker B: It was so good. And this Brett Booth has never let us down, ever, ever. And this is so, so good. And I'm gonna give this. Johnny, I'm gonna give this four bottoms of the big right foot Sorry. Five. Five of the bottoms of the big right foot out of five. Because, you know, we don't get to see the bottom of the big right foot very often. [01:11:50] Speaker A: I thought you were gonna say four, and I was like, you ruined the whole bit. [01:11:53] Speaker B: No, no, this. This book was amazing. This is five bottoms of that foot, Johnny. Which means this is an entrant into the Hellfire Club, Johnny. Since we both gave it fives. Yes. And then next we had Deadly Tales of the gunslinger, number 13, lucky 13, which similarly excellent, but in a different direction entirely, but just amazing. [01:12:20] Speaker A: Like, I literally was like, I want to give this to someone. I want to give. I want to give someone the trade paperbacks of Gunslinger deadly tales up till now and just be like, that's my go to spot. Like, if I want to get someone to spawn, I would probably give them the trade paperbacks. The second one doesn't come out till April 2027. But the first one's the six issues. Like, I was just giving that and be like, this is. [01:12:45] Speaker B: It's so. It's the best. It's so good. It's just so. [01:12:50] Speaker A: The cereal, it's. It's episodic, but it builds on itself. It's very. It's very well done. It's Jimmy Palioni, like, knows what the he's doing. [01:13:00] Speaker B: Yeah. It's. It's. It's. Sir. It's serious without feeling like homework, which is. [01:13:05] Speaker A: It's fun, masterful, and, like, crazy, but serious. Like, I don't know, like, it's like. It's like a. It's like a cult TV show. [01:13:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:13:14] Speaker A: That never existed. [01:13:15] Speaker B: It's like. It's like every movie in the late 90s that was based around Satanism or the devil. This is how I wanted all of those movies to be. This is how I wanted End of Days with Arnold Schwarzenegger to be. [01:13:31] Speaker A: And it's a Western. [01:13:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it's great. [01:13:34] Speaker A: I'm giving it five bone tomahawk meets 310 out of Yuma. [01:13:40] Speaker B: Nice. [01:13:41] Speaker A: 310 to Yuma out of five. [01:13:43] Speaker B: Very nice. It's a very good score, Johnny. It's a very good score. I personally fucking love this book. It's so goddamn good. I'm gonna give it. [01:13:52] Speaker A: Amazing. It was amazing. Both these books, like, brightened my day when I read them. It was. They're both like, I can't sing their praises enough if I want to slap a spot on someone's hand. [01:14:02] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, yeah. [01:14:03] Speaker A: This wouldn't be bad choices. [01:14:04] Speaker B: This is. This is a. This is a good choice. I'M gonna give this five Mountain Lions out of five, Johnny, which means it is also an entrant into the Hellfire [01:14:14] Speaker A: Club, which means we now go. No, it's not the Hellfire Club anymore. Oh, it's the Hellfire. No, it is the Hellfire Club. [01:14:21] Speaker B: So. So this issue is in the Hellfire [01:14:23] Speaker A: Club, but it's the Hellfire Club. But it's. Now we go. Well, David, you gotta say so. You gotta say, I do. I do. [01:14:30] Speaker B: I do, I do. I, I do, I do. [01:14:32] Speaker A: No, no, we're keeping all this in, by the way. [01:14:35] Speaker B: I do, I do. I do declare. It is extra crispy, as you say. [01:14:38] Speaker A: I do, I do. I do declare. This is the interest in Hellfire Club. Okay, I do play Foghorn Leghorn. [01:14:44] Speaker B: Okay. [01:14:44] Speaker A: And then we play a Foghorn and [01:14:48] Speaker B: then the Toasty guy. [01:14:49] Speaker A: And then Toasty. [01:14:50] Speaker B: Okay, I do. I, I do. I do. I do declare, Johnny, that this is an entrant to the Hellfire Club. Well, let's see what you're making there, boy. Looks like Sodi Pop. Watch it. Fears. [01:15:09] Speaker A: Toasty. [01:15:10] Speaker B: Well, Johnny, that's. That's. That's. That's them puppies rated. And you know what? [01:15:16] Speaker A: I feel hot. David. I can't touch anything. [01:15:17] Speaker B: It's you. It's too. [01:15:18] Speaker A: I touched my computer. My burst into flames. [01:15:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:15:20] Speaker A: These were two. I. I know we do. We talk about Spot every week or so. But like, I. This is. This was awesome. [01:15:29] Speaker B: So this is. [01:15:30] Speaker A: This is. [01:15:31] Speaker B: This is some good comics. Some great spot. [01:15:33] Speaker A: If you listen to our show and haven't read these issues, go read them. [01:15:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:15:37] Speaker A: Right now listen to our show and have read these issues. Go read them again. [01:15:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:15:41] Speaker A: And give them to somebody. [01:15:43] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:15:43] Speaker A: Extra copies. Like, oh, man. Like, just maybe, like, it made me fall in love with Spawn again. There was a slog there. [01:15:55] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Absolutely. [01:15:57] Speaker A: There was a slot. I know we're a few months behind. Like, sue us. [01:16:01] Speaker B: Yeah. But please don't. [01:16:03] Speaker A: There was a slog, like six months ago. It was a slog to be a Swan fan. [01:16:08] Speaker B: Yeah. All right. [01:16:09] Speaker A: I guess. [01:16:09] Speaker B: I guess that's. That's kind of. [01:16:11] Speaker A: We're not counting a lot of the spin offs. We haven't read. God damn it. There's so many. [01:16:14] Speaker B: There's so many of them. There's so many, David. [01:16:16] Speaker A: So let's. Let's continue this so we can read more Spawn. We.
